Is anyone interested in a fantasy pool? I know a few people have expressed interest in the past and I think even one or two said they would prefer it to the predictor. Reason I ask is it looks like Betnomi are going to be doing their own pool and it seems silly to have two competing pools running so I suggested they do a fantasy one instead. Hopefully there's enough interest for a fantasy pool because having another PL pool running is going to severely effect new members joining this one.

See many missing names, guys what are you waiting for? Go and join, the more we have, the more money I win  Grin
will pay and join this week  Smiley
best and worst signings you ask? I think Kalvin Phillips will be a flop. He's the most overrated english player right now imo, paying almost 50M for him is a daylight robbery... best sigining, Haaland. He'll prolly score like 30+ goals or something if he can stay injury free (big if).

He's not over-rated. He's underrated if anything. He was one of the best if not the best players for England during the Euros. As for money, all players are overvalued these days but if Harry Maguire is worth 90 million then that's a steal for Phillips. Leeds' squad has took a pretty big hit with Raphinia leaving today. They'll probably be fighting relegation all season again if they don't make good use of all that money they just got.

Sign-up thread is now live: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5405399.new#new

Got the 0.2 from Sportsbet so huge thanks to them and jeremypwr for sorting that out. It's 0.0025 to join and first place will be a guaranteed 0.1. The rest of the money will be split between 2nd to 10th places like last year. There will again be a free $50 bet to every weekly winner who scores the most points that round so that's 38 chances to win a free $50 bet. All you need to do is win one round and you've pretty much got your money back.

The Premier League starts on the 6th of August so we've got a month to get people signed up and paid. Please spread the word so we can hopefully get 50+ users and add to the pot.

This is amazing news. Cannot wait to start again and i think it will be an amazing season again. Also would be nice when the pool starts and all members enter that we know all prizes in advance for 1-10th place. Also im expecting 50+ members honestly

I'll post them as soon as everyone's paid. If people can pay ASAP that would be great so I can start planning the prizes so please don't leave it last minute if you can. The quciker we can get the prizes fixed in the more people will likely join once they know what they are.

Saw an email saying pool was destroyed, for some reason gave me a shock for a moment heh.

Yeah, please join the one sent via PM once you've paid.

Looking at the Manchester United situation, I think they'll be even worse than last year. They at least had Ronaldo banging in a ton of goals, but if he is to leave or worse yet refuse to train, and gets dropped I think they could be in some real trouble, because quite frankly he bailed them out last year multiple times. We also play them within the first couple of rounds, so we could maybe compound that pressure on them by beating them convincingly.

Cristiano bailed them out, and they let him down in my opinion.  The way MU finished the 2020/2021 season, and adding Renaldo before last season every one really expected more from them.  I was pretty sure they would take the league, or at least give City and LFC a more trouble than they did.  It was quite a disappointing season, and I'm sure Cristiano feels betrayed.  I don't know what they payed him, but at the time it was rumored that it had to be less than what City could offer.  What's crazy is he could probably still play at an above-average level.

I'd be surprised if he stays with no Champions League. He's going to want to hold onto that CL all tome top scorer lead which will be severely dented unless he can get himself to a team that is going to be playing in Europe. I'm sure he's conflicted with wages though as he might have to take a cut so there's that to weigh up. Not seeing him in the CL is kinda tragic. Maybe he should just go back to Real.
343  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [ BOXING POLL ADDED ] The Rematch - JOSHUA vs USYK II (updated thread) on: July 07, 2022, 03:04:37 PM
I know he left Joshua badly bruised in the fist fight therefore he probably does have the power to push for a knockout but which version of Joshua will be see in the ring in the rematch. The confused fighter that got destroyed by Ruiz or the patient jabbing fighter that won the Ruiz rematch? Let us not forget Joshua was comprehensively outboxed by Usyk in their fight too.
I'm hoping for neither. I want the old Joshua back that like to get into brawls. Think about the first Ruiz fight, Joshua went into that confident, got into a gun fight, and got clipped. However, he knocked Ruiz down before that exchange that hurt him. Ever since, he has just seemed a shadow of himself, and doesn't want to get in them risky, high reward sequences.

I'm not expecting Usyk to engage in them either, but if Joshua can turn up the pressure it'll be more entertaining for the fans at least. Otherwise, I literally see no other result other than A Usyk win, whether that's by a surprise knockout or the usual decision.

AJ has to go in for a scrap. If he just lazily walks into this without committing or hoping to win it miraculously on points I think a lot of people are going to lose interest in him.  He needs to change up his gameplan otherwise it's just going to be a repeat of the first fight. He needs to get the win for that Fury fight which will almost certainly happen if he gets the belts back. If not Fury will probably just fight Usyk but for some reason I really want to see him against AJ more.
344  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Jake Paul v Tommy Fury / Amanda Serrano V Brenda Carabaja co-main event Aug 6th on: July 07, 2022, 02:50:49 PM
I just don’t think the Fury vs Paul fight is ever going to happen. I think Tommy Fury is looking for every excuse in the book which is odd considering he has literally zero pedigree, you would expect he’d just take the big pay day that comes with the Paul circus & do everything possible to make that fight happen.

I have heard that Hasim Rahman Jr will definitely be Paul’s next opponent though.

https://www.the-sun.com/sport/5712382/jake-paul-hasim-rahman-jr-tommy-fury/

I don't think he is. He had a cracked rib last time and proved it with x-rays and now the USA literally isn't allowing him in so there's not much he can do about it right now. I think Tommy really wants this fight as he's certainly been gunning for it on social media and it's likely the biggest payday he'll ever get and he probably sees it as an easy fight, though it is still very risky for him in my opinion. I'm hoping Tommy can get a Visa sorted and the fight will happen in the future or they'll just do it in the UK. Jake has offered him 500k to fight in the UK but Tommy Turned it down:

Quote
Paul tweeted out his offer, saying: "I’m confident you are a scared little boy who doesn’t want to fight or understand business. I will pay you $500K to fight me in the UK. I will do it shortly after August 6. You accept?" Fury hit back with a post of his own, telling the YouTuber: "I wouldn’t get out of bed to fight you for $500k. Let me know when you’re ready to have a serious conversation."

https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/boxing/jake-paul-tommy-fury-fight-27421883

Can't really blame him when he was getting 2 million for the other fight but beggars can't be choosers in his position.

Interesting.  I hadn't heard that but I guess we'll find out for sure tomorrow.  He's definitely going to take some heat for choosing the fight someone he spars with.  You might even say this is him giving one of his friends a payday if that's the case.  I don't think this is going to go a long way in convincing the world that Jake Paul is for real, but he's been training so he's got to fight someone.  It seems like the Jake Paul train is running out of steam.  Hard to believe with all the fighters talking smack about him that he has a hard time finding opponents.

Yeah, I'm thinking it's a bit of a safe bet as he will already know what he's up against, though his opponent doesn't exactly seem to be a pushover. I'm hoping Jake can keep his unbeaten record as I still want to see him go on to bigger and better things starting with the Tommy fight next if he can get that sorted.
345  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Jake Paul v Tommy Fury / Amanda Serrano V Brenda Carabaja co-main event Aug 6th on: July 01, 2022, 01:02:18 PM
How hard it is to create a VISA to America? I've been there once, but passes procedure half year before, when I was booking vacation, hotels and etc. For a more famous person, maybe with some connections, is it possible to create a VISA in one month? From UFC experience, fighters come to the US one or two weeks before the fight to pass acclimatization process and jet lag.

It's relatively easy. If you're from one of the countries that has a visa waiver program which the UK does you just have to fill out a form a month or so before you go and it's valid for about six months or something. However, working visas I think require an embassy visit.

I can't help, but think this is to build the fight a little more? I wouldn't have thought a professional boxer, and especially on this sort of stage wouldn't be able to get a visa. I know there's been speculation with the Fury family, and who they associate effecting their entry status, but I wasn't aware that extended to Tommy.

I'm not so sure about that. Tommy had a visa and was in the states only a month or so ago. The US just revoked it for reasons that haven't been made public but people are assuming it's because of Tyson connections to Kinehan. Tyson was also denied entry and has had his visa revoked in June.

He should be able to get it sorted out at the embassy according to Jake, though maybe the US are playing hard ball and want cooperation on info on Kinehan from the Furys. Would they have banned Tyson if he had a fight on? I'm not so sure. Hopefully Tommy can get it sorted. Maybe the fight will have to take place in the UK if not but Jake will almost certainly just fight someone else in August instead. I wonder if he has a backup in place?

At first I was hearing that Tommy didn't want to fight, because his dad couldn't enter the US. However, we all knew that. He hasn't been able to enter the US for as long as I can remember. I believe it was related to a eye gouging incident, and therefore a criminal conviction. Now, we're hearing that Tommy is struggling to get one.

It looks like his whole team isn't allowed, including Tyson, so he'd basically be alone over there according to his dad: https://www.insider.com/boxing-champ-tyson-fury-reportedly-banned-from-flying-into-us-2022-6

I can understand Tommy's frustrations if that's true. It would be a huge disadvantage to not have any family members or his regular coaches there. I think Tommy really wants this fight so I doubt he's going to turn it down unless there's something literally stopping him from doing it. And yeah, his dad is banned due to serving serious jail time for blinding someone in a fight. Anyone who's done prison time can't get in. If you have a criminal record you need to get special permission from the US embassy but they deal with them on a case by case basis.

It is somewhat being billed as the first real fight between Jake Paul and an actual boxer.  Being honest, I have no idea what to expect.  Jake has surprised everyone with every fight, so maybe he'll keep that momentum going.
To me, I actually think this is the only fight, and perhaps the Youtube boxing events before it, where Jake probably wouldn't surprise all that many people by winning. Tommy certainly isn't anything special when it comes to boxing, obviously a professional, and therefore somewhat decent, but his career hasn't exactly taken anyone off guard. Especially, considering the calibre of his opponents, and the performances he has put in against them.

That's what makes this fight to appealing to me. It's probably the first big challenge for both of them. Jake can win it for sure and to me both fighters are quite evenly matched, though Tommy has been fighting practically his own life whereas Jake is a relative newcomer. Tommy has only really fought bums and journeymen though and Jake has only fought youtubers and ex-MMA fighters who were on their way out and people have been clamouring for him to prove himself and fight a 'proper' boxer so here it is. Tommy is the perfect step up. He might not be the best boxer but he's still unbeaten and the biggest draw is that Fury name. Anything other than a KO by Fury is going to be an embarrassment for him. If Tommy losses it could even end his career. Nobody is going to take him seriously if he can't even beat a 'youtuber'. His family have practically said they'd disown him if he lost and that's a huge weight to bare. They've both said he should quit if he can't beat Jake and he might have to as that will follow him around his whole life.

Jake might have to find a new opponent though as I can't see him making the fight in the UK given he's already booked Madison Square Gardens.

Tyron Woodley is always open for an offer and fake tattoo Cheesy

Either they try to hype with news, or did not come to an agreement about payment. Otherwise if they really wanted to fight each other, they would have done it long time ago. I think this visa issues is artificial and main problem is $$$.

Have you heard that his brother, Logan Paul was complaining, that he wasnt paid fully for his fight against Mayweather? Could this be a soil for a second fight? Unfinished business Cheesy

It's not about money it's just visa issues. Jake said all Tommy has to do is go the American embassy in the UK and he should be able to sort it. He should be able to make a case that he's only connected to this by name. Barring him from the States over his brothers connections seems very harsh.

https://www.instagram.com/reel/CfZWZqYFsq1/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=

Neither Jake or Logan are going to fight Mayweather is he hasn't paid Logan for the first fight.

@hilarious

Sportsbet will come back to us & confirm everything soon. Don’t worry about sponsorship etc, they’re busy with major projects atm.

Just to confirm, as always I will be playing this season.

Cool

Yeah jeremypwr said they were busy but I'd like to get the thread going ASAP so we've got at least a month to promote it and get as many sign ups as possible.

]
As I already posted few days back I also want to be informed about this, but I need few more updates what is this superbru and is this paid service or free and is this working for all countries because if they have not allowed me then I can't join this pool for next season so please if anyone able to give all updates this could be appreciated, thanks.

Superbru is free to use worldwide. It's just a site we use to input our predictions and keep track of the leaderboard.
It's a great site and very easy to use. Sign up now and check it out if you want.

Interesting breaking news ..
“Tommy Fury's fight with Jake Paul could go up in smoke ... after TNT claims he was denied entry into the United States ahead of their scheduled press conference in New York.

Just when it seemed like the bout was FINALLY going to happen, Tommy shared the crappy news on his Instagram on Tuesday ... saying his team showed up at Heathrow Airport to hop over the pond ... but they were shut down.

"As soon as I entered the airport, I was pulled to one side and told by a Homeland Security officer that my ESTA had been denied and that I wasn't able to travel to the USA for a reason I apparently know," Tommy said in a video. “ - https://www.tmz.com/2022/06/28/tommy-fury-denied-entry-into-united-states-fight-jake-paul-jeopardy/

Uggh. I'm going to be so annoyed if this fight doesn't happen. Hopefully Tommy can get his VISA sorted out in time. At least there's plenty of time to try get approval and this was only for a promo event. It seems a bit unfair to not let him in based purely on the fact that he's the brother of Tyson who has links to Kinahan. I'm sure the US taxman will be losing a lot in revenue if the Fury's don't fight there anymore. Tyson will probably just fight out of the UK or Abu Dhabi in the future. Jake might have to find a new opponent though as I can't see him making the fight in the UK given he's already booked Madison Square Gardens.

I'm loving their twitter war after they finally signed up for the match hehe. Tommy doing better at responding to the social media taunts and rants of Jake than I was expecting. He understand how to sell fights and this could do well on Gate sales and PPV with how things are going so far.

Quote
On August 6th you’re gonna wish you just stuck to fighting those paid off MMA fighters and kept my name out of your mouth 🖕

Official press conference and tickets on sale Wednesday June 29th at 11AM
https://twitter.com/tommytntfury/status/1540076479555543044

Their press conference should be fun to watch. It could be better than their actual match.

The press conferences probably won't be that great. Tommy doesn't really have much patter/banter. He seems quite quiet really, especially compared to his brother/father and they were doing most of the talking in the build up to the last fight before it was called off. The real excitement is going to be what happens in the ring. I can't call it at all. The odds are slightly in Tommy's favour and that's understandable, but not my much. I could see it going the distance p[ersonally, though I hope someone gets knocked out. I think both fighters could be very cagey and worried about getting knocked out so might be hesitant to go for the kill. Both are going to want to keep their unbeaten 'titles' but it's going to be an absolute embarrassment for Tommy if he doesn't get the KO. Even if it goes the distance and he wins on points it's still going to be a bad look for him in my opinion.

We wanted to see Jake Paul being destroyed by a real boxer. But in this is going to be an exhibition match, I'm not expecting any knockout.

Why dont you expect a knockout in an exhibition fight? In previous exhibition fight Jake knocked out Tyron Woodley, even though some people consider it was staged. Previously formed MMA fighter Vitor Belfort brutally KOed former boxing champ Evander Holyfield (but I think it was a mismatch).

Jake is able to knockout Tommy Fury, as Tommy is not the greatest boxer. He has a good record, but he was fighting against punching bags all the time.

It wasn't staged. The only people who say that are plastic armchair boxing commentators in YouTube and twitter comments. Woodley, got sparked out cold. Nobody saw that coming, not even Woodley.

~
I'd imagine Jake won't be fighting anyone big less he likely would have announced it already and done his own fight. Maybe he's combining it with Amanda so it's not a flop. I'd be very surprised if he fights anyone notable, especially someone like Tommy Fury, unless he's worried that not many people will be interested without another headline act like Serrano. I really think he should have tried to set that fight up as it's a logical step up for him and gets him the cred of actually fighting a boxer.
Jake Paul is supposed to fight Tommy Fury in this event and we all know that he pulled out of the event one time and that is being expected here as well as Jake Paul and even uncle Chael Sonnen predicted that Tommy Fury will pull out of the event citing some injuries and hence may be Jake Paul is mocking him with the poster and i really wanted to see that fight happen rather than any other short term replacement.

~
If Jake has a decent performance who knows where he will go after this fight but if he wins it wouldn't surprise me if his next fight is against someone like McGregor.
McGregor is too small for Jake Paul and i would not want to see that mismatch and Jake Paul would easily win that fight as he will be dragged to the later rounds and finish him there.

But for what McGregor lacks in height he makes up in experience and skill. Both McGregor and Mayweather are 1.73 meters tall and Floyd obviously fought Logan Paul who is 1.88 so I can still see this happening in the future. Nobody will care about the difference in height/weight when there's a shitload of money on the line. If Jake wins this I guarantee you Connor will probably start sniffing around for this fight.

The Cybertruck design is now "locked in" according to Elon Musk.  This comment accompanied an updated timeline from Elon with production now set to begin in mid-2023.  This means 1 year from now these beauties should be rolling off the production line and ready to go to their new homes.  When exactly we'll find out the options and how payment will be made, as well as if we can update to the newer 4-motor option is still a mystery.  For now though, we should be glad that the Cybertruck has an official blueprint and has passed the design phase.  Maybe 2 years from now I'll be able to drive one.  Smiley

https://electrek.co/2022/06/22/tesla-cybertruck-design-locked-new-timeline/

Ok for some, but I wonder how long we will have to wait before we find out whether they're even road legal elsewhere like in the UK and Europe? It's also going to be interesting to see if they can keep the price down as well. There's no way I can see these trucks being the cheapest Tesla. I'd be very surprised if it's not nearly double the initial price quoted.

Should be a good month for boxing with AJ/Usyk later in the month.

I just watched his fight's highlights on Youtube because watching it live is only a waste of time because after all their fight is only for entertainment and it's all obviously rigged, just a money fight and no thrill whatsoever. Look at this, no opponent yet but they announced it, they really wanted the people's attention as early as possible. their marketing is on another level. I thought those two will gonna fight each other which really doesn't make sense. I'm looking to see a real match for Jake Paul one day, a fight that would gonna make him regret stepping in the ring.

Shut up with the baseless rigged nonsense. And all boxing fights are just for the money. Nobody is doing this for free. It's all about the money. Neither Jake Paul or Tommy will want to lose this fight and it's going to be an embarrassment for Fury if he does and I think that's what makes this fight intriguing. If Jake has a decent performance who knows where he will go after this fight but if he wins it wouldn't surprise me if his next fight is against someone like McGregor.

It looks like Jake Paul was apparently going to face Tommy Fury on this card but Fury is allegedly pulling out with some more excuses (according to Jake in the above video). Hoping this fight does get made as I think it's a great fight for both of them. Gives Jake the credit of fighting a 'proper' boxer and will be huge exposure for Tommy in the USA/worldwide and could get him out of the shadow of his brother depending on how well he does. If Tommy loses though he will be an embarrassment in the boxing world so there's a lot at stake for both of them. Personally, I think it's quite an even fight and couldn't really pick a winner. If Tommy doesn't make this happen it's gonna make him look like a flaker though. Two million purse is a lot of money to walk away from especially to someone like Tommy who really doesn't deserve that sort of cash right now but that's the benefit of fighting Jake.

Looks like Jake might have a back up plan though in Nate Diaz as Dana White has apparently given the OK for him to fight:

https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/other-sports/mma/jake-paul-nate-diaz-fight-27297260

I'd still prefer to see the Fury fight though.

Edit: https://twitter.com/tommytntfury/status/1539647903685173248

Looks like Tommy Fury is insinuating he's still fighting him according to that tweet. Tyson Fury was recently denied entry to the USA due to his ties to alleged gang boss so neither him or his dad would have been able to travel to the states for the Tommy fight. Maybe Tyson can get his VISA situation sorted out before then. You know they wouldn't turn him away if he personally had a boxing fight on.

It appears so. Commentary never really used to be a dealbreaker for me either, I guess the particular local language I hear just sounds so foreign plus I do understand some of it and it seems to be poor quality anyway, they're really just mumbling through and using the same repeat phrases over and over. It goes something like this every 5 minutes:

jongen, jongen, jongen, ay yay yay yay yay to mean practically anything like "boy, boy, boy, oh man what a miss, oh that was bad, oh bad pass"

Radio + broadcast also works bad for me with roughly 5 seconds delay haha.

Most commentary and even technical analysis is bullshit. I'd rather have a glass dildo shatter in my arsehole than have to listen to anything Michael Owen has to say. He's one of the most dullest men on the planet.

And to sync up the radio you can just pause the football until it's in time. Probably a bit of a faff but that's why I'd rather just listen to music. You're really not missing much on the commentary. There's only the odd time it's useful for when they're checking something on VAR and you're not sure what's going on or something has happened on the pitch that you're not sure about. A month or so ago they stopped the game for some reason and I had no idea what was going on but it turned out a fan in the stand was having a medical issue so they were getting medics to him. Had to google it after.

The pools have grown with every season so far so I'm hoping we can keep the tradition going. Hoping for at least 50 users this season.

It's been one of the real subforum successes to my eyes too. Active and an actual lot of pretty decent bastard expert commentary.

Oh and I guess 3mbtc isn't a bad fee considering we're now sub-20k BTC (ouch).

It's probably going to keep falling as well, especially if Celsius goes under which I think is very possible. If they manage to come out of this unscathed I've be very surprised. Lots of people are getting spooked by all these recent events and cashing out into fiat which is obviously having a massive knock on effect and is probably going to get a lot worse before it gets better. The fee will be between £25-£50 regardless though. I messaged jeremypwr about getting confirmation on the sponsorship and free bets so when I hear back I'll get the sign-up thread up and running.

354  Economy / Reputation / Re: [great drama] Timelord2067's "homophobic" Trust abuse on hilariousandco/etc on: June 18, 2022, 12:27:49 PM
Timelord has a very weird definition of what trust abuse is and it often changes to suit his own narrative. It is trust abuse and he should have removed it years ago.

Timelord's petty vendetta against me goes back years and all started in the first place because I excluded him from my trust-list because of his often wildly inaccurate feedbacks he left on dozens of instances and as we can see that still continues to this day, but that's the best excuse he could come up with to leave negative feedback on me after extensively combing through my posts to try find something to justify his feedback system abuse after he became butthurt after another spat we had.

His trust on me is also literally inaccurate because my comments were not homophobic. If anything you could maybe argue they were transphobic or whatever non-binary-phobic is, but it's neither of them because it was what is called a joke.

I would encourage everyone to distrust ~Timelord2067 until he sorts his hypocritical abusive trust out.

This is about something that happened nearly two years ago.

Pro-tip -- don't go digging about things that have happened years ago, and attempt to litigate them today. By now, many people have seen the ratings in question and have had the opportunity to react appropriately.

Pro-tip: Timelord left that feedback two years ago on a post that was almost two years older than that so he had to do a lot of digging to find it. Maybe timelord should take heed instead of being a further hypocrite.

You have a very weird set of standards for what constitutes trust abuse. That isn't trust abuse. However, this is:

As Loyvce said, I don't want to have to see your abusive shitsmear on any of my accounts.

Remind me again why people are looking down their noses at me for distrusting this person?

Because I've done nothing to warrant being distrusted by you or anyone else. What behaviour have I exhibited that gives you the opinion that I cannot be trusted on this forum? Do you you really think a joke is a reason to distrust someone and even worse leave negative feedback for? Of course, we all know that's not the reason you actually distrust me but it's the best justification you could come up with. You've distrusted me over nothing but a petty vendetta that goes back years and all because I originally excluded you from my trust list because of your often wildly inaccurate and abusive trusts that as we can see still continue to this day.

This is not the first time these two alts have done this to me.

You also like to conveniently leave out the fact that it was you who left me feedback from your two accounts first. I simply returned the favour. Of course, it's never trust abuse when you do it.

I'll dedicated a topic to this.

Rest assured I won't be joining that discussion - as I said last week:

Two of the three (three being 6.9% of the 43 UID's as reported today) are alts.  It was canvassed in another thread their attacks on me.  This person has subsequently left me alone (at least I presume they have - I have them on ignore and no one has alluded to their attacks continuing) - that said, perhaps it is time to review my previous trust feedback - I still think they would be untrustworthy in a trade, but I can convey that in neutrals I suppose.

I've been busy this week

Then chop-chop. What's taking you so long? You can't be that busy since making posts here and elsewhere takes longer than to hit that delete button on your abusive feedback.

I'm fine with 0.0025 BTC if it's not too much for other users. Yeah, BTC now is falling crazy, but I expect that in the end of season rewards may look very sweet Smiley.
I use the Spanish Dazn but it doesn't have English commentary. The Canadian one does and I used that before but I kept running into proxy issues so I went with the Spanish one once my subscription ran out. It might be ok now though or may just depend on the proxy you use. Try find someone in Canada and see if you can get them to create you an account. You can't sign up for it with proxy but once the account is created it's using a proxy is usually fine. You can pay pay as you go monthly and they even used to do one month free trial so you can give it a go and if it doesn't work just cancel it after a month. I have both the German and Spanish Dazns and they're both well worth the money. I split them with a friend as well as two people can watch at once. Between them both I have all the boxing, all UFC fights and pretty much all the biggest football leagues inn Europe.
Canadian DAZN doesn't have EPL. There is Fubo.TV in Canada with EPL, Serie A and more sports, it costs about $15. But I haven't tried it, so I'm not sure is it possible to sign up there and use it with VPN. German and Spanish DAZN with all their content would be great, but absence of English language is big disadvantage.

They must have lost the rights. They had it a year or two ago but I've been with the Spanish one for the last season. Commentary isn't a deal breaker for me. I usually just listen to music instead. You could probably just find a radio station that is covering it I suppose.

I will most probably be on vacation during August as always but I think @hilarious won't say no to someone who at the worst will pay 5-10 September at max (just like last year I think) but I prefer to pay much sooner than that this year hopefully. This is to say that I too am taking part in the upcoming pool and damn how I am eager to compete again after missing the final prize place for just 2 or 3 points I don't remember well, and it felt really great to be the leader of the standings for a couple of weeks in the beginning of the tournament.

I can give people a grace period up to a certain point like I did last season. Maybe I could allow some users to pre-pay but you may have to make up the difference if the price changes drastically before I fix the amount to btc.

I'm happy with the 3 mbtc pool fee, and if there are new people wanting to join and they feel they're priced out because of that, I guess we could ask but I seem to recall the fee not really being an issue when we asked people before (and that was when BTC was a bit more than it is today).

@tokes sure. I'll take you on. You'll have to remind me if I forget though.

So yeah, nice to be back in here.  I see this pool has become a success with a growing number of people joining every season.  I think this thing has been running for 5 seasons now?  Time flies...

The pools have grown with every season so far so I'm hoping we can keep the tradition going. Hoping for at least 50 users this season.

new season starts on August 5th
it is due to World Cup in November that season starts much earlier than previous seasons

Fulham, Nottingham and Bournmouth are new members, Crystal Palace vs Arsenal is first match
will be interesting to see who will be better, with a long mid-season pause due to World Cup

Another thing, depending on the cost of the pool maybe the pool participants will love the option to pay in advance the Bitcoin fees as the price of Bitcoin is a lot cheaper compared to last year.Since it is irrelevant to us the price in USD I think it would be a good idea to start accepting participants money in Bitcoin starting from now,we would pay less in dollars but the same amount in Bitcoin for example if the fee is 30 USD we can pay 0.0015 Bitcoin and if it is 40 USD we can pay 0.002 Bitcoin.Of course the option to pay near the start of the pool to be available for those who want to pay then.

I usually don't start taking in the money until a week or so before the league starts because the price can fluctuate so much in the space of a month or so. Somebody could end up paying nearly double more or likely less the way things are going. Depending on which way the price goes it can be unfair to those who pay either early or late, or become too high of a fee to play, so that's why I like to state roughly what the fee is likely to be in fiat then try to make it a nice round number in btc nearer the time and collect the money in one go nearer the time so it's fairer to everyone. The fee in the past has been between £25-40 in GBP fiat so I'd like to make it something like 0.002 or 0.0025 which would be fine as it stands but maybe not if the price keeps tanking.

0.0015 btc is currently 31.85 USD or 25.75 GBP
0.002 btc is currently 42.48 USD or 34.36 GBP
0.0025 btc is currently 53.13 USD or 42.98 GBP
0.003 btc is currently 63.63 USD or 51.46 GBP

I'd be fine with £50 but I don't want to price people out, but at the same time with a free $50 weekly bet up for grabs it's still a very good deal especially for an entire seasons worth of entertainment that is not going to have you chasing your losses  Grin. 0.0025 is probably what I'd aim for right now.

Once I get the confirmation from Sportsbet on their sponsorship I'll start the sign-up thread asap.
358  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [ BOXING FURY WON IN ROUND 6 ]: FURY vs WHYTE - THE FIGHT on: June 16, 2022, 05:18:54 PM

Having said that Fury has maintained on Twitter just today that he is done with boxing therefore any unification or legacy cementing fight is probably never going to happen.

Fury said: "I am very happy and contented to be retired. It's been a long time coming and I am so much enjoying my retirement": SKYSPORTS

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/boxing/61804428

Quote
The 33-year-old suggested he would retire after knocking out Dillian Whyte in front of 94,000 fans at Wembley in April to retain his title.

But on Tuesday he said he was planning for "something big" to happen.

"We've exciting news coming," he said.

Asked in an interview with Queensberry Promotions

if he would be seen in the ring again at some point in the future, Fury added: "100%. Just like in the movie when Jerry Maguire shouted 'Show Me The Money!'."

Fury's promoter Frank Warren said he had recently been in discussions with the British boxer about a return to fighting.

While Fury says a fight against Usyk or Joshua is not in his immediate plans, he has not ruled it out at a future date.

Fury is unbeaten in 33 bouts and retirement would mean he would miss out on an opportunity to fight for the undisputed crown, and with it a chance to cement his status as Britain's greatest ever heavyweight.

Usyk currently holds the other four world heavyweight belts and he is set to defend those titles against Joshua at some point this year.

Once that fight is done, Fury suggested a bout against the winner could be possible but that it would take a lot of money to tempt him to take it on.

"What I would say to the people who want this fight to happen is: you better have a big cheque book," he said.

"Because to bring the big GK out of retirement to redeem this country - yet again - it's going to cost.

"I am a prize fighter and I do fight for prizes, but it is going to cost if you want me to do a mission on this middleweight and show what a real heavyweight does to them.

"And that will be expensive, they will need deep pockets and then we can talk."

It seems there's something brewing in the Fury camp given what he's been saying the past couple of days and he's been doing a lot of media. His next fight might only be an exhibition but as I said before, this retirement talk is almost certainly just part of Fury's game plan to squeeze as much possible money out of his next fight. He's "retired", but not if someone offers him half a billion which is pretty much what he said recently. Of course getting that sort of money almost certainly won't happen but I'm sure he's willing to negotiate. Start high and see what the best offers are. I think it's safe to assume that we will likely see Tyson fighting again. There's going to be far too much money on the line for a unification fight for all the belts. Probably not anywhere near 500k but he will end up with at least 100k minimum, maybe even double that if he wins. I don't think either Usyk or AJ will trouble him too much either so I think it will be a silly move to walk away from all the belts especially when there's not much risk on the line and that fight will be by far his biggest payday.
359  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: June 16, 2022, 01:35:52 PM
It usually is always about the money. Look at Mbappe. Looks like he was dead set on a move away, then voila, he's now very happy to stay once PSG have promised him a quarter of a billion over the next three years and looks like he's practically going to be a player-manager.
Yeah, I'm hoping it's the agent doing the talking rather than the player. It's almost like we get sent mixed signals because one week Salah is saying on an interview that it's not about the money, and he wants to retire at Liverpool. Then, another week we get the news that it's entirely about money, and it doesn't look like it's going to get done, and he would consider joining other rivals in the UK.

It's always both parties being greedy. The player can easily shut down his agent if he's the catalyst trying to encourage a transfer and they don't want it but they usually do want to milk as much money out of their situation. The player can quite easily say I'm fine where I am and that would be the end of it. Their existing club will still up their wages when it comes to re-sign if they're desperate to keep them but that often won't compete with what another club is offering them so if they leave just for a bit of extra cash then it's purely financially motivated. There's really no loyalty left if football these days. Most players just go wherever they can get the most cash. Can I blame them? Not really, but for some you would think there's more loyalty to a club and fanbase that gave them everything as opposed to swanning off elsewhere just for an extra couple of million which they probably don't even need.

I do believe Ronaldo, and Messi have been investigated for tax issues, so what's to say that these players wouldn't take deal sweeteners that you allude to behind the scenes, I mean it's probably already happening to some extent.

They have, but Spain are seemingly pretty strict about tax issues, though you can usually always buy your way out of any serious repercussions or prison time etc. It's probably why they both left Spain. There's always going to be loopholes left to exploit and players like them two are going to have the best lawyers and accountants so they will always find a way to abuse both systems.

I know there was a big uproar about the super league, but I genuinely believe we're already in one. Teams like City will never be challenged by the likes of Everton, unless Everton get bought out by a super rich owner. There's no making your way up the ladder any more, and I do think the English Premier League has been corrupted by international cash cows, and I think it goes without saying I'm not even being patriotic when I say that.

The only difference with the Super League was there was hard rules making sure successful clubs stay successful. However, at the moment we don't have those hard rules, but we technically have things which will prevent anyone, but the main 6 challenging. The year that Leicester won the league was absolutely brilliant, because it proved what football was all about. However, as time goes on those sort of surprise wins are going to be even more rare than they were back then.

You still get some smaller teams making it into the CL spots though, but it is obviously very difficulty given the number of big clubs and it's always going to be the same big 4 or 5 thereabouts. The Super League was a little different though. It was completely elitist and purely greedy from the start. It was just the big clubs wanting to make a league exclusively for them and nobody else so they can take all the money and split it up by themselves whilst making their own rules.

Anyway, popped in here to ask if anyone knows any new streaming deals for EPL with English commentary coming to Europe?

Dazn came here in December, but no football.
Amazon (with forced UK settings + VPN) had some games for a while, but seems like it was a trial, not sure next season.
FOX and ESPN have a local stream but commentary NOT in English, not all games, and you've to pay out of your nose for everything.

IPTV crap's... tried and tested and never satisfactory.

I use the Spanish Dazn but it doesn't have English commentary. The Canadian one does and I used that before but I kept running into proxy issues so I went with the Spanish one once my subscription ran out. 360  Other / Meta / Re: Bump locked topic, should this be allowed? on: June 16, 2022, 01:15:04 PM
I'm not sure if there has been a similar discussion before, but here I run it now because it's pretty boring and tiring.

it is not uncommon for certain users to open a new topic, write something in it and lock it immediately. in this way, they make it impossible to discuss or express a different opinion, there are no "awkward" questions to be asked. okay, it may not be that tedious, if that's the end of it. what makes things worse is when the same users do a daily bump and then lock up the topic again. that's how they keep on top of the page with their stuff and nonsense.

Create your own thread about it if you are unable to comment or reply. People are free to create a thread to respond and I would encourage users do that if people are trying to stifle discussion in a way that suits them.

the same user also opened a topic (and lock it immediately) where he offers a cash prize for the personal data of another user. (the administrators seem to have deleted it)

Well that would be against the rules and was probably reported and removed for such.

People should be allowed to lock their topic and bump it as long as it's within the rules. I've seen genuine users make use of locking a topic and bumping it likely because they don't want to deal with spam comments etc. Of course, scammers and idiots will make use of both locking their topic and deleting any comments they don't like but that's just how it goes. If you feel a user is doing something purely to troll or be abusive then you can try report the thread if you feel it breaks the rules. Users can already abuse the self-mod feature to delete comments they don't like but should we modify that or get rid of it too? I don't think so as users should be allowed to moderate their own topics however they want even if that does mean nefarious users will abuse it. If people are abusing these features, and especially to scam, then either create a thread in Rep or Scam Accs and/or use the feedback system to give warning/leave a note of why you find their behaviour suspicious or untrustworthy.
