181  Other / Meta / Re: Monthly Report Statistics on: January 20, 2023, 05:16:29 PM
That's why I think theymos should introduce badges with a couple of small perks to make it worthwhile. Reporting is a thankless task and most get bored of doing it pretty quickly so at least offer a small incentive/thanks.

I have nothing against badges, but I think that it should be taken into account that the lowest limit for obtaining them is set high enough that it cannot be reached easily, and on the other hand, that it does not demotivate users to start making reports at all. And while we wait for that to happen, maybe it would be good to publish the list of top reporters for last year and the year before last, because if badges are any kind of technical challenge, the list certainly isn't.

Well I think it would be kind of pointless if it was too easy. We can make several different badges as well or maybe the same badge but different colours for the number of reports. We could look at the latest stats on reporting and the monthly stats to determine where to set it at. I think there needs to be at least some point to reporting as 99% of people just won't do it unless it's for something urgent like malware etc (or just something that personally annoys them haha).

I guess if we get the next statistics period from Dec to Jan there will be a grow up on them again maybe.
Also i dont know if the Bot from Mitchell also counts to the reports that shown in the statistics , maybe hilariousandco can light us or me up on that.
And yes i think that the badges thing would animate more USers to report things .

Anything that is reported will be counted. If a bot autodeletes something with no report then it probably won't count.

That's why I think theymos should introduce badges with a couple of small perks to make it worthwhile. Reporting is a thankless task and most get bored of doing it pretty quickly so at least offer a small incentive/thanks.
The only thing is; if it isn't implemented correctly then the novelty will wear off, and we'll be back where we started. Currently, we don't have much motivation for reporting other than helping out. However, it does seem that a lot of users don't find that motivating enough, which again is fine. As you've talked about it, as well as I, and several others it's largely a thankless task.

So, for reporting badges to see long term success we probably need to offer badges based on total reports, as well as within a certain time period; say monthly. So, the top monthly reporters get a badge to distinguish that, as well as badges for all time reports. Implementing a leader board, has it's downsides due to abuse, but would probably motivate a lot of users.

As well, as having large enough badges that users don't achieve them all within a year or two. Since. a lot of users are now either at or approaching 100k reports.

Yeah, good point. Maybe the badges can be time sensitive so you need to keep up the reporting constantly every month or whatever to keep them. That would encourage reporting on a consistent basis and not just mean people spam their way to achieve it then just abandon reporting all together once they get the badge, though I think there could be badges for huge reporting milestones.

a lot of users are now either at or approaching 100k reports.

A lot of users are approaching 100.000 reports? Is this true?

Probably. actmyname had 38580 over a 12 month period when the last table was given: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5360879.msg57980000#msg57980000
182  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Deontay Wilder versus Andy Ruiz Title Eliminator on: January 20, 2023, 05:03:48 PM
Just to be fair with Andy Ruiz, he is a rank in the Heavyweight division,

#2 by WBC
#3 by IBF
#1 by WBO

Only in WBA that he is not even in the rankings for unknown reason. And on the other hand, Filip Hrgovic and Andy Ruiz was ordered by the IBF to fight for the interim belt. So it's kinda crazy that this body is ordering mandatories and they have a lots of title like the regular belt holder and then the interim, hehehe.

It's only for an interim belt. He can always just refuse it as well. Ruiz will probably take the bigger fight which is Wilder as it obviously comes with a shot at Fury should if he win as well. I don't think this is going to be a good fight for Ruiz. Wilder will destroy him, though I guess if he beat AJ anything is possible but Wilder is far more dangerous than AJ in my opinion. Not sure what's going on with this fight but I'd love to see Wilder against Fury again. He's going to want revenge and I seriously think losing to Fury has changed Wilder.
183  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🥊 The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: January 20, 2023, 04:26:39 PM
From what i understand the contract given to Francis Ngannou was a 3 fight deal with $8 million a fight and then the PPV money which is obviously multiple times more than the guaranteed amount. The reason he rejected the offer is he wanted more freedom from his contract and he wanted to fight Tyson Fury or similar boxers and the UFC rejected that completely and he wanted health insurance all year round and we can say that he was doing this for the rest of the fighters but you cannot bend the UFC like that because if they bow down to his demands then the rest of the fighters will start demanding these.

Nah, that's almost certainly not right and Ariel misunderstood and others have been reporting on that falsely. Jon Jones apparently got around 8 million for his full deal and Ariel asked Francis if that was the same he got offered and he said something along the lines of it was around the same but that will likely be for Jon Jones full 8 fight deal. There's no way Francis is getting 8 million per fight. Connor probably doesn't even get that and the most Francis got paid before was half a million. He can get a million+ for fights now but no way he's getting 8 million per fight.

Nice Find on Francis Ngannou's Trainer definitely knows something and pretty much I am waiting for Francis Ngannou's statement the thing here is I never really trust the UFC's management there is some shady stuff going on inside, but even though that was the case we all really enjoy those fights but sometimes forget the value of fighters and I think Francis Ngannou is a big asset that has run away for the UFC, and as I have to know PFL is offering him a much greater contract because we all know the level of audience invitation when PFL would sign Ngannou, although I think Bellator will be a great new home for him well PFL is really good enough,

Everyone is waiting for something to hear from Francis Ngannou's after the decision to exit the UFC fights at this age, I mean he is still not young but not old enough to make the decision for retirement because he is just 36 and on the other hand I see today on the news that UFC legend Conor McGregor said something about Francis Ngannou and give some advice because Francis Ngannou could never reach what he deserved for as the already said: https://talksport.com/sport/mma/1306453/conor-mcgregor-advice-francis-ngannou-ufc-exit/

Francis has already come out and said what he wants to do on Ariel's MMA Hour show and his own Youtube channel. He isn't going to retire. He'll probably box and go with one of the other MMA promotions unless he just sets his sights on boxing as that's where the big money will be.

As for champions, I think there's gonna be a Russian take over in the UFC.  The Russian prospects coming up are all tooough.

And as for Jon Jones vs Cyril Gane, I don't mind it.  I mean I'm disappointed it's not vs Ngannou but it's better than nothing.

Who's your money on though? They're both fairly evenly matched according to Skybet odds but Jon Jones is still the favourite. It's going to be interesting since he's been out of action for so long but I don't think this is gonna be an easy fight for Jon at all.

I assume users were receiving bitcoins that were mixed and more likely some users would end up with bitcoins that were used for black market and other illegal activities.
I have euros, dollars and pound sterling that have most likely at some point been used criminals. Simple evidence: most bank notes contain traces of cocaine, and there are countless other crimes that don't leave physical evidence on the money.
None of this is a problem for me, because money is fungible. And no government would dare take that away, because if they do, it will be the end of money as we know it. Just imagine you can't accept money without checking known and unknown crimes committed by all previous owners.

We all know that but that's never how it works. Criminals can and do easily use their dodgy black-market money on the high street and supermarkets etc but those places would never be prosecuted for money laundering or handling illicit money etc but you as an individual could be if they deem you are handling or interacting with illicit cash. It's sadly just how things work. I always find it funny how people cry that bitcoin is a tool for scammers and drug dealers but 99% of scammers just us bitcoin as a medium to sell for cash and most drug dealers don't accept bitcoin. They only accept cash because it's pretty much untraceable, is very easy to launder and there's no record of it kept, but nobody seems to be making that case right now. I'm sure they will do once they decide to go to a 'digital dollar' so they can keep an eye on everybody's transactions and tax is appropriately.
185  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [ BOXING POLL ADDED ] The Unification Fight: FURY vs USYK on: January 20, 2023, 10:40:28 AM
https://talksport.com/sport/boxing/1306658/yson-fury-vs-oleksandr-usyk-fight-update-frank-warren-negotiations-location-date/

Frank Warren keeps popping up on Talksport and it seems to me it's a done deal now other than trying to wrangle the most amount of money out of Saudi for it:

Quote
“We’re expecting a couple of offers this week, but none of them have come through and then Tyson has to make his decision,” Warren said.

“I hope it’s going to happen at the end of March, early April, that’s where we’re looking at the moment.

“So, fingers crossed we get it over the line for that date, but it will definitely, definitely happen.”

I hope this doesn't come back to bite them. They will know Saudi is desperate for it and will put up a lot of cash but if they're asking for ludicrous sums how far is Saudi gonna go? When they delay things to try milk money it's how fights end up getting dragged on and then never getting finalised as all parties involved can't wait around for ever.

Fury is not exactly young therefore if he achieves his goal of being unified champion (and becomes even wealthier in the process), he has got everything he ever wanted therefore changing career and retiring would not be such a bad thing if he can just make that step. I doubt he will fight Joshua because he already stated he will never fight him most probably because he could have him in December but ended up fighting Chisora when Joshua refused to get in the ring with Fury.

I think Fury should seriously think about retiring after the Usyk fight regardless of who wins or if he beats Usyk as expected he should make just one defence of his unified belts before retiring as undisputed heavyweight champion.

He's not young but he's not exactly old either and I'd say he's still in his peak right now but the as the years pass that will quickly dwindle. AJ is still one of the biggest fights for them both so that's why he will want it and it's something British fans have been calling for for years. It's a guaranteed sellout and blockbuster event. I'm pretty sure it would even do more PPV buys than the Usyk fight. Tyson may or may not retire but most boxers end up fighting well past their prime. They either need the money or just can't seem to let it go (and is self-admittedly the case with Tyson). What else is he going to do? Just train others? Maybe, but boxing gives them motivation and discipline and without it they become lost and easily fall into bad habits.

I guess the contention is that it's Fury's home town, so he is the one bringing fans to the sit in Wembley and so deserves more than tha 50/50 split and should be treated as the A-side.

I do agree that probably they wanted more money from the Saudi investors, they know they can deliver that huge amount just to bring the fight in the Middle East. And we all know how greedy they are, or shall we say wanting to maximized the profits for this biggest fight in Heavyweight in the last 5 years or so. And if that Middle East deal didn't push, obviously London will the fall back plan.

Fury would sell more tickets in the UK for sure but it still takes two to tango. I'm not sure Usyk would be happy if they've already agreed to 50/50 and then Tyson's camp tries to wrangle some more money out of it just because it's in the UK. They both have belts so neither fighter is the A-side other than maybe how large they measure their potential respective fanbases but not sure how they do that other than looking at PPV buys and tickets sold etc.
186  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🥊 The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: January 20, 2023, 10:27:39 AM
I'll be putting my predictions out in the next day or so, it's a good event. However, Ngannou leaving is a big thing, that's a current champion who seems to have been advocating for benefits for all fighters rather than just looking for bigger money in the deal. If that's true, then it's an incredibly bad look on the UFC, especially since they're claiming he's scared to fight.

The Francis situation is going to be a talking point for a while and I still think it's worthy of discussion because how is this going to effect fighter's going forward? Francis isn't the only one that is unhappy and he was luckily in a situation where he could walk away. You know there's plenty of fighters locked into contracts right now that wish they weren't and there will be a lot more who can't or don't want to speak out right now because the UFC can just stiff them if they start to cause trouble. I just wish the UFC would compromise and meet fighters half way. Why not let fighters have a couple of their own sponsors on their shorts/kit? The back of the shorts and tops are all clear from what I remember so just let them work out their own deals for that. The UFC can't claim that fighters are independent contractors, then lock them into exclusive deals an make them essentially wear a uniform. They should let some of the biggest fighters fight in crossover boxing as well. They did with Connor and did that as a co-promotion so why not just let Francis do the same. It brings huge eyes onto the UFC when fighters go over to boxing so it's win-win for Dana and if Francis did well against someone like Fury or even beat him imagine the reaction to that. The UFC's greed is probably going to come back to haunt them if their biggest fighters all jump ship and move to the next best promotion which could see the UFCs market share quickly dwindle.

Seems like a great person, he basically came from nothing, and become champion. If he was a little more charismatic he would've probably been one of the biggest stars the UFC has ever seen, because his fighting style, and build is obviously something that attracts fans.

I hope there's a movie in the works and his life is definitely worth one. That's another thing the UFC could have done: helped finance a movie about his story and do that under a UFC Film production arm or something.

Please stop this Ngannou vs UFC drama[/url]  Grin We all know that how crappy UFC management is. There might be hundred fights like Ngannou that complain how bad and unfair contracts are, yet people will still think that UFC is the best promotion ever and dream to get there. Take Don King for example. Everyone knew how he robs his fighters, how he manipulates boxing. People still were ready to sign contract with him, to let him do business and etc. Situation with Ngannou is not the first and the last.

You don't have to engage in the Francis drama if you don't have to but it's still worthy of discussion and I don't think people should just ignore it and hope it goes away nor should fighters put up and shut up about it either. If the UFC doesn't change their business model fighters leaving is going to be a common thing which is only going to hurt the UFC.

Tired of Ngannou. No more 3 African Champions. Ngannou left, Adesanya and Usman lost their belts. Destiny.

They will likely both win them back pretty soon. I doubt Usman is going to make the same mistake again and should have probably tried to finish him instead of coasting for an easy points win.

Frankly, I am not much interested in JJ fight against Gane. JJ was inactive for too long. I think he wont fit current UFC fighting realities. 3 years without fights, that is a lot.

I'm looking forward to it but I think Jones is going to struggle against Gane as he would have against Francis. I'm hoping he isn't biting off more than he can chew as this is certainly a huge test for him. He should have probably had one or two warm up fights first before challenging for a title. If he pulls off a win though that's certainly going to be a huge W but there's not many exciting options left after that. Personally I'm hoping the UFC can work something out with Francis even if it's a small 3 fight deal to see him vs Jones as that's the fight that should have been happening.
187  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Jake Paul vs Tommy Fury - February 25 in Saudi Arabia on: January 20, 2023, 10:10:11 AM
I doubt Jake would fight him. It would probably be a bit of a step down for him right now. If he's going back to Youtube boxers then it will be KSI. KSI has stated he wants to fight him in 2023 but I'm not sure how feasible that is given KSI will need some more ring experience before Jake and will probably want at least two fights before that which they will struggle to get done this year.
Not sure KSI has the natural ability that Jake has, add onto that fact that Jake has been training a lot longer, and more dedicated than KSI with no signs of stopping. I personally don't see KSI ever being able to catch up, and get good enough to challenge Jake. If Jake takes that fight, it'll be a ego fight just to prove to his social media fans that he's better, which I think most other people who aren't a fan of either of these men, know.

KSI probably gets knocked out pretty soon after that bell rings, and I like KSI more than Jake. That's just how I see it, and I think most people see it. You only have to compare the calibre of fighters they've fought, but also the technique is completely different. KSI windmills, and leaves himself open. Jake, actually looks to counter punch, so stylistically, it suits Jake too.

I dunno. I would agree right now that Jake is the better boxer but we've seen way more of him and KSI has fought two bums and then KOd the last guy pretty quickly so it's hard to tell what level he's at right now. I don't think he will box Jake without having at least another two fights so I can't see that fight happening this year though maybe they could squeeze it in at the end of the year and go out with a bang. I think KSI will be weary of biting off more than he can chew and will want to keep that unbeaten record for as long as he can to hype up the Jake fight (but that's assuming Jake doesn't lose to Tommy).

Do you know when was their fight announced really? Topic was dated January 17. Just a bit more than month before fight. Will they have enough time to run a proper camp? Or that is the trick. No one takes it seriously, prepare seriously, as they already plan to cancel it or make fighter replacement.

If the fight is next month then they will have already been in camp or at the very least been doing some serious training. Both guys look like they're constantly in the gym judging by their social media anyway so it's not like they'll be unfit. If the fight does go ahead next month then both guys will have known for quite some time the fight was likely going to happen then so would both be prepared for it. Both fighters have said the fight has been in the works for months so they would have known whether it was likely to happen and they're probably just trying to squeeze some more money from Saudi out of it much like Tyson and Usyk are trying to do.
188  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Jake Paul vs Tommy Fury - February 25 in Saudi Arabia on: January 19, 2023, 06:28:43 PM

https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/21057738/tommy-fury-fight-jake-paul-saudi-arabia/

Tommy Fury finally set to fight Jake Paul this year as Saudi Arabia throw millions to host bout instead of UK.

I’m seeing early odds on fiat sportsbooks as:

Paul  1.54
Fury  2.55

Wouldn’t surprise me if Fury pulls out again. His girlfriend is due to have her baby soon, not that he needs an excuse to run away from a fight Wink
I'm sort of done with these celebrity fights. Why can't they just get into the competitive scene and prove how tough they are. Which they could, especially Jake, since he's full time into fighting, isnt he? He seems good enough at least to do that.

Tommy Fury is a professional boxer first and foremost and was one before he came a 'celebrity'. People have been complain that Jake hasn't been fighting pros so here he is (assuming the fight does actually goe ahead). It's a good step up and challenge for both of them. If Jake wins then he's beaten a pro and if Tommy loses he's lost to a youtuber. If Tommy wins then his profile will skyrocket and people might start taking him seriously as a boxer or certainly will when he starts to fight ranked opponents after that.

Jake Paul has the edge on this one I guess. If it is true that Fury have dodged Paul a couple of times maybe confidence is lacking on his end, and that is an important thing. But since hype is there already, this would be for sure exciting to watch. But quite of an interest, I'd like to see salt papi vs jake paul for some reason. They're on heat together with KSI which I think would rain bets to whoever would be able to land a match up on these three. In terms of skills, PAPI I guess would be on advantage. But going back with this match up, Fury has the potential as well but it is just that Jake has more exposure with fights with 'tougher' opponents which could be his biggest advantage.

189  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Jake Paul vs Tommy Fury - February 25 in Saudi Arabia on: January 19, 2023, 09:59:31 AM
A win-win situation for Tommy either way, then. Guy's obviously not born to be a boxer unlike his siblings and his father. Has a weak chin, doesn't have that fighter instinct, and punches weak and low for most of the time. If ever, he can use the money that he'll get from this fight (if it pushes through) to start a podcast or create videos for social media and just chase stardom. After all he already has the experience in the entertainment industry and he can just use this fight as a leverage to further just that.

I mean, just look at his past opponents. One guy even has 100+ losses with only 10+ wins! How can you even call that a proper and respectable win?

Well that will just be what they call a journeyman and if you look at the early records of pretty much all pro boxers you will see the same stuff even with the current superstars like Tyson and Wilder etc. They just take easy opponents early on to break fighters in and pad their record to make their 'unbeaten' status look better than it actually is. It's a wise thing to do really as it would be a bit silly for a fighter to start off against people he is unlikely to win against. Here's a video about 'padded'/unbeaten records: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZaJJ3TZe7UM

Wouldn’t surprise me if Fury pulls out again. His girlfriend is due to have her baby soon, not that he needs an excuse to run away from a fight Wink
How many times they will set this match up and even i am in the opinion that we wont be seeing this fight this time around as well, there should be a betline whether Tommy Fury would pull out of the fight  Cheesy. Hope there is something written in the contract that Tommy Fury cannot pull out of the fight until it is a major injury or the wise move would be to have a back up plan if the fight did not go as planned.

If they announce the third one I doubt Tommy will pull out again unless he gets an injury. First time was a broken rib and some illness related to it and the second time he literally just couldn't get into the US due to his brother's association with the Kinehan Cartel (which I thought was harsh as Tommy has nothing to do wit them). Tommy seems to really want this fight. It will be a life-changing some of money, grow his exposure even more and he seems to think it's an easy fight for him. Jake probably also feels the same and that's why I'm hyped for this fight. It's a challenge for both of them and there's a lot on the line for both of them. If Jake loses then it's no big deal. He will say he wasn't supposed to win against a Pro but if he wins then Fury is going to be embarrassed potentially out of the sport.
190  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Are we legally associated with advertised services? on: January 18, 2023, 01:52:45 PM
Youtube probably has the technology to autoblock porn etc so I'm sure they will or can develop something similar. A human vetting the adds should be the least they do right now until they have the tech.

The only reason they are doing that (porn filter) is to avoid a public outcry which would, you guessed it, damage their revenue.

People would still use YouTube even when it's full of scams, as evident today. So clearly (and sadly) there is no outcry to hit their bottom line. These guys only do stuff for their own pockets and not for their users.

Constantly advertising scams will also hurt their revenue if it's becomes popular opinion that YouTube is just a wild west of scams and scammers. The whole adpocalypse thing a few years back was spurred on by advertisers being worried about their adverts showing up on problematic content and even terrorist videos etc and withdrawing their ads and Youtube just went full overkill and into panic mode. I'm sure that will happen again someday and they will surely start facing legal consequences when people are continuing to lose money. It's not a good look for them at all and if they don't implement some safety standards they will soon be forced to by regulatory bodies. This stuff wouldn't fly on TV or other advertising platforms so not sure why YouTube will be able to get away with doing little to nothing.
191  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Jake Paul vs Tommy Fury - February 25 in Saudi Arabia on: January 18, 2023, 01:45:47 PM
I don't think this fight has been confirmed yet just media speculation. Maybe they know something the public doesn't as it's hard to keep the rumours of these events from spreading once the ball is rolling and contracts are signed but there's nothing on Jake's or Tommy social media pages and those will be the first places to look for confirmation. The fight is almost a month away which seems quite soon as well. Have they both been in camp?

I wouldn't say Tommy is someone whom can consider a "capable" boxer because of his record. Most of his wins are against mediocre fighters at best with very poor win-loss ratio with the exception of Daniel Bocianski. I think this fight, we know which way it will go: obviously Jake's. Seeing Tommy's previous fights, he doesn't really focus on the defense and always go to the offense instead, so that's one department that he needs to work on as Jake is slowly becoming a somewhat well-rounded boxer through his previous bouts.

Tommy has a pretty much standard padded record for an up-and-comer. You don't go into the big fights without building yourself up first just like Jake has been doing. Personally I think this is a pretty well rounded fight and the biggest test for both of them. I don't see a knock-out and my money is on it going the distance. The biggest thing for me is it could end Tommy's boxing career before it's even started if he loses. I'm sure he's getting a life changing amount of money and will just pivot into being a social media star or something so it won't be too much of a loss but that embarrassment of losing to a YouTuber will certainly sting and it will never leave him.

For everyone who thinks that Ngannou was wrong for not continuing to work with Dana the Abuser Junky, here is the list of requests he had during negotiations.
He asked for right of a sponsorship, he asked for health insurance, he asked for a fighter advocate in the board meeting.
He didn0't expect UFC to accept all requests but they didn't accept a single thing he proposed except they offered with much more money.
Listen to first special interview Ngannou made with Ariel Helwani: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0vngym7ChcM

The interview with Ariel is well worth a watch for those who want to hear Francis' side of the story. It seems like he's walking away from a very large amount of money. What he was asking for wasn't unreasonable but I don't think the UFC is willing to give fighters those things. It looks like they tried to get him on a huge fight deal probably similar to the 8-fight deal Jon Jones was on but then he wanted a three fight deal which Francis seemed to think he could get done in a year which was optimistic.

I've felt for a while that Francis not only wants to get paid what he thinks he deserves, but also wanted to make the move to boxing. I don't know if that's what he'll end up doing, but I got that impression from how he's been talking the last year or so. However, he's been a good sport in my opinion, hasn't spoken out too much about the situation despite there obviously something going on behind the scenes.

The podcast will be some insight just to have two sides of the story, but ultimately I don't like seeing Dana throw him under the bus, there may have been the possibility he came back after his adventures elsewhere.

Yeah, I didn't like how Dana tried to spin the narrative there. Ariel had some good comments on what Dana should have said instead. Interestingly it doesn't look like Francis is opposed to re-joining the UFC but probably knows he won't ever get the terms he wants. Maybe if Dana ever leaves then there might be a shift in how the UFC is run. Francis said he is likely to box next and named Fury and AJ as people he would like to fight but those are unlikely to happen. Maybe Eddie Hearn should contact him about doing a co-promotion to get him into the boxing world. I just hope Francis has something already lined up behind the scenes - or nearly lined up - as he almost certainly isn't going to get what he the UFC offered him with another rival MMA promotion. He will get a huge payday against someone like Fury but like I said before Fury has a queue of people lining up to fight him and I'm not sure when they could squeeze that fight in. Maybe Francis should try box a couple of other people first before going for a megafight.

Ok, you say that I am avoiding speaking about Dana, here is what I've heard and what I find strange. Francis told that there is no medical insurance in contracts. Dana White always say that they give fighters medical protection. That UFC pay anything that is needed for a fighter to recover. Because fighters are their bread and water. Dana said that they had numerous conversations with Francis, and he refused everything. How can Dana be bad, if he wanted to organize a fight, and Francis refused every offer?

Dana said, Dana said, Dana said. If Dana said water isn't wet would you believe him? Dana might as well be saying we offered him loads of bad deals but he didn't take any of them and now he's saying Ngannou was scared of the competition which is complete BS. You've got to remember that the contracts ufc give their fighters makes them independent contractors and not employees, yet they don't let them fight outside of the ufc and they don't allow them to wear their own clothes or sponsors. You either are a third party or you're an employee but the ufc wants to have their cake and eat it too so they can get away without properly paying fighters. If you're making fighters sign contracts as essentially self employed then you need to let them be self employed and work out their own sponsorships and merch deals and do whatever else they want.

You say that fighters arent allowed to advertise others. As a crypto forum, I will answer with crypto facts - why we see Roobet, Stake casinos ads on fighters, if crypto.com is official UFC sponsor?

They can take sponsorships outside of the UFC but what good is that when companies pay for fighters to wear their branding during, before and after the fights. The UFC are sponsored by Crypto.com and Venom clothing. All that money goes to the UFC. They're not allowed to wear the sponsors on their clothing or shorts nor can they get their own clothing deals. The UFC is one of the only sports companies to do this. The UFC are being greedy by taking on exclusive deals that benefit them and them alone.

Francis loosing millions due to contract with UFC - was there a real offer for a boxing fight? Did anyone really promised him millions? Why after he did not sign new contract, he immediately sign new contract with boxing promotion, if Francis thinks he is so demanded for boxing? If he was so unhappy with UFC contract and wanted to be free, but continue to fight and earn, then why we dont see no announcements?

He's been a free agent for what, a few days? I'm sure he will announce something soon or is certainly working on something. He wanted to fight Fury before and Fury was also game bringing him out at the Chirsora fight but guess what, Francis couldn't do anything at the time because the UFC wouldn't let him, which is funny seeing as the fighters are supposedly independent contractors but can't actually do what they want. I might even understand it if UFC signed exclusive deals for them to only fight MMA with them but to not allow cross over boxing which will only bring even more eyeballs to the UFC is insane. Funny how Connor got that privilege but nobody else.

Take Francis friend - Adesanya. Both were champs. Why one is happy with UFC and drives exclusive cars, while other complains how bad UFC is? Maybe Francis just suck at negotiating?

Izzy has literally said they're both in different situations / deals and described Francis' deal as "atrocious": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uccT3RDWt90

Some fighters seem to get better deals than others and some fighters certainly get Dana White Privilege.

And don't forget about situation between Francis and his french coach. Dont you find it strange, that coach said that Francis did not pay enough (or pay at all) or share % of his purse? Probably coz of his "UFC contract" and low payment?

You mean Fernand Lopez? Again, two sides to every story. Lopez has spoken about his regret of that situation and seemingly did many things that were untowards after the split: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X73As65cgBQ

Maybe it's like after a bad break up your girlfriend lying and telling everyone you have a small dick and were bad in bed. Said nothing when the times were good though.

My opinion on Francis stays strong. He is greedy. I am more than confident that he will have contract problems with other aswell.

It seems like you already had made your mind up on Francis long ago, but again, why is Dana/the UFC not even more greedy when they don't let fighters do what they want, nor do they pay them appropriately. If Francis feels like he's getting a bad deal, which he is, then he is free to leave and that's what he has done. That to me is being smart rather than just signing your life away to stay with a company you don't even like and know is exploiting you. Maybe he might not even get more money elsewhere but at least he will be free to do what he wants as he should as a supposed independent contractor.

What a greedy man Francis Ngannou is. He is a living proof that if a person had poor and hungry childhood, he will think only about money. I cant believe he has left UFC even after they offered him highest payment in UFC history. Francis Ngannou only excuse was - he does not like the contract. He feels like he is a slave. He is a slave, but other are blind and dream to get into UFC. I dont believe that it is all about contract. If contract really was such a nightmare, everyone would reveal that long time ago.

I'd wait for Francis' side of the story

Why wait ? Everyone already know what Francis Ngannou would say. Contract, contract, contract. Without giving particular details. I think he wants things to be following: he fights a guy and then go immediately to cash desk for cash money. Wake-up Francis Ngannou! We are in modern civilized world, where everything and everyone are bound with contracts and obligations. He probably wanted to be in biggest MMA promotion and be free to fight and to do whatever he wants. That does not work like that. Congratulations on being unemployed now.

Because there's always at least two sides to every story and it seems like you've already made your mind up here for some reason. Why aren't you accusing Dana White of being greedy offering terrible lowball contracts to even his biggest superstars forcing them to go elsewhere? UFC contracts are already notoriously pretty stingy and also don't allow you to get paid by external sponsors for your kit etc. Ngannou is likely literally losing out millions because of that. I'd argue he's probably losing far more than what the UFC are giving him even on this extended contract that will have been essentially a slave contract for a ludicrous amount of fights like the 8 Jon Jones is now on. It might not even be about the money for Francis but how restrictive the contracts are and he just feels he will be better off elsewhere. The UFC won't allow him to box either and the potential fight with Tyson Fury might be more lucrative than his entire UFC contract. I don't blame Francis or all the other UFC fighters that are leaving in droves either. When Nate Diaz is getting paid double for a random fight than what Francis is getting for a title fight against one his most challenging opponent you know something isn't right but before you make your mind up I'd at least wait to hear what Francis has to say. Francis might just feels disrespected by the UFC and he certainly has a right to be because he wasn't getting what he was worth for his previous fights. Francis seemed to be being pretty reasonable about his contact situation during his injury but I'm guessing Dana didn't want to let him box or pay him what he was truly worth so now here we are.

P.S. I understand you. You dont like me, coz I am new here and dare to say bad about Francis Ngannou...

Doesn't have anything to do with that. You've been here since 2018 so you're not exactly new unless you bought this account. You're entitled to your own opinion but you're basing it entirely off of what Dana has said and don't even seem willing to wait to find out what Francis has to say. You might as well just be telling Francis to shut up and sign a document without you or him even reading it. Since Francis didn't sign he must have some pretty good reasons for doing so as he's walking away from a lot of money and the biggest MMA promotion but he shouldn't resign just because of those things either.

So here's what Arum has to say as far as the venue and purse split goes, He said that he is waiting for the offer from Saudi Arabia investors to bring the fight to the Middle East, I'm sure this is the same set of investors that have been putting and bringing fights that involves Heavyweight matches in Saudi, so that is their first option. If there is no offer or if they deem the offer not acceptable then they second option is UK.

However, one stumbling block is the purse split, Usyk wants 50-50, but Arum insists that his boy Fury should get the lion share if the fight is going to be held in Wembley stadium as obviously this is Fury's home turf and will be the one bringing all the fans into the arena.

Source: Arum: Usyk Wants 50-50 For Fury Fight; That's Not Right If Their Fight Is At Wembley

My guess is that they've already got the contracts done and dusted but are trying to milk the max amount of money from Saudi for the fight so that's what's causing the delay. This fight can of course take place in the UK and I'm betting they have a venue already reserved but they know they're not going to get anywhere near the amount the middle east will offer so are trying for that with the UK to fall back on. If there's a rematch maybe they will decide to do that in the UK 'for the fans' as they say (i.e. when Saudi isn't interested haha).

Uysk will probably want the fight in Saudi as well if what Arum says is true that Usyk doesn't deserve a 50/50 split if the fight is in the UK: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/boxing/article-11641261/Bob-Arum-says-50-50-purse-split-not-right-Tyson-Furys-title-fight-Oleksandr-Usyk.html

Quote
Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk will face each other in an undisputed title fight
Arum has said that the location of the fight will determine how the purse is split
Saudi Arabia is the preferred location but the fight could take place in the UK
Arum believes Fury should get the 'lion's share' if the fight takes place in the UK

I'm sure in their head they want three fights to happen as that's pretty much the max a big fighter can do and obviously the more fights the more money in their pocket but as we can see it never works out that way. Just remember this post when we're in 2024 and lets see how many fights AJ and Fury have. I'm sure we'll get at least one each but I'd be very surprised if we get much more than that and certainly not three each. I'd expect three fights combined between them.
I expect Fury to defeat Usyk and the retire. I expect Usyk to lose to Fury and then retire. I expect Joshua will win his next fight then make a lot of noise about wanting to fight Fury but it will not happen and he will retire. Things could turn out different though  Grin

I don't think he will retire. He's already tried that a few times and said he doesn't know what else to do without boxing. Maybe he will retire from pro boxing and just do some crossover matches or big one off money fights but I still think he as a few fights left in him. There's Usyk, Joe Joyce and everyone still wants to see the AJ fight which I think will probably happen at some point but likely when both are past their prime. The AJ fight is still probably the biggest UK fight to make so both parties will want it. AJ just needs a couple of wins under him and I'm sure he will be fighting some bums soon enough then we'll likely start hearing rumblings of making that fight happen.

Search Engines like Google literary advertise Ponzi schemes, exit scams, phishing sites every day for so many years, but I have never heard of a lawsuit against them for advertising even when known frauds such as Ponzi schemes or 1xbit

I think this is also similar to advertised service here, except that most service advertised here aren't even scams at the time of being advertised, with a few exceptions.

Like I said before, there are sadly different rules for massive corporations where there are often little to no consequences other than fines. I don't think tech companies are immune from being prosecuted about advertising certain scams though. I'm sure the laws will change soon enough to become more in line with things like TV advertising where there needs to be standards. On Youtube and Google now it's pretty much the wild West with most people coming across scams: https://www.businessinsider.com/facebook-google-scam-ads-fraud-technology-2021-4?r=US&IR=T

Youtube probably has the technology to autoblock porn etc so I'm sure they will or can develop something similar. A human vetting the adds should be the least they do right now until they have the tech.

Majority of the campaign here do not have affiliate code
Affiliate code isn't necessary to be considered affiliated. The fact that I'm getting paid from them to advertise them does add an affiliation.

I believe people have been prosecuted from sharing darknet affiliate codes/links. Perhaps a little different as they're illegal marketplaces that sell drugs and guns etc but don't think it's above the powers that be trying to make the case that Chipmixer is also an illegal service which it may in fact be in certain countries so I would still advise caution.

I'd wait for Francis' side of the story before you make judgment and you also need to take Dana's comments with a pinch of salt as well because Dana is already seemingly trying to make the narrative about Francis being scared of fighting certain people which sounds like butthurt BS to me. Francis' coach has already come out and said Francis doesn't want to be a sell-out: https://www.instagram.com/p/CnfjW8XJuQL/

Looks like Francis himself might be going on Ariel's podcast today so hopefully we'll get his side of the story then, but when Dana said he offered Ngannou the highest heavyweight contract in history that might not mean much given how often they stiff the fighters and don't pay them what they're worth. He might have offered Francis a dollar more than the terrible pay he's previously offered superstar heavyweights and that would still technically be 'the highest pay'. He could have offered Francis a mere million or so dollars advance and you might think that's a lot but it's not when Francis can probably get that for a single sponsor on his shorts which you cannot do in the UFC so you have to take all this into consideration rather than being a slave to the UFC. What they probably did was offer Francis a large sum of money upfront for x amount of fights which will look a lot on paper but not anywhere near what he's worth. Dana mentioned he'd signed Jon Jones to an eight fight deal and I bet he tried to do the same with Francis but Francis probably isn't desperate for the money whereas Jon Jones probably is given he hasn't fought in ages and regularly gets himself into trouble so Jon will take what he can get and secure his future which is always perilous with him.

Very controversy situation with Francis Ngannou. He is inactive for a year already. I hope he knows what he is doing. So far I havent heard he has signed different contract with anyone else. But I predict that promotions will now fight for him. UFC has made him famous. Now Francis is able to select an easy path - promotion with weaker heavyweight than UFC has, and sign a big contract with them. Beat few bags, grab billions and retire  Grin

He's in a precarious place for sure. He can of course easily sign with any other MMA organisation but they probably won't pay him what he would have got with the UFC, though maybe one promotion might overpay for him and give him a massive bag to get the huge exposure and all eyes on them to take away some market share from the UFC so it might pay off that way. Hopefully he gets a mega crossover boxing even with someone like Fury which there was certainly talks behind the scenes about and Fury even posted something on his Instagram recently about it now Francis is a free agent. Making that fight is easier said than done though because everyone wants to fight Fury so he's in demand and will have a lot of mandatory challengers queuing up to fight him which he will have to take. I dare say there will likely be a Usyk rematch as well along with potential fights with AJ and Joe Joyce so it could be years before he's free.

There's a game tonight don't forget. 18 people still need to do their scores for it.

^  Wtf.  Lol...  But it wasn't really just a B squad.  It was a B+ squad.  Grin  And it's prolly the hectic schedule of fixtures during the cold of winter taking its toll on the team.  They went against Chelsea twice then Southampton all in a span of a week.  I wonder what the line was for Southampton.

But yeah, Guardiola had to cos City is going against United this weekend.  I wonder how the schedule is going to take its toll in this match.  United at 4.20 could be value.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: they're professional athletes in peak physical form getting paid hundreds of thousands to kick a ball around a pitch for 90 minutes so they should be able to play 2 or even 3 games a week. Footballers will already be training twice a week anyway so I would have thought all they'll be doing is missing a training session and playing a match instead which I'm sure they'd all much rather do. I know people who play 5-a-side nearly every day of the week and they're not getting paid to do it so I don't think it's a big ask when teams have 2 games a week or sometimes 3 over 10 days or whatever. Some squad rotation is fine but don't just treat it as a friendly that you don't really care about and just to give some benchwarmers a run about.

Tor! Tor! Tor!

All they have is a username on a forum unless they subpoena the board to get more information but I doubt that would happen just to try find out who was advertising them here.

Really?

Like I said, unless they subpoena the forum but the BFL labs case is a little different as they were probably trying to find out information about the people behind it. Also, like I said, err on the side of caution if you're worried. Law Enforcement could always decide to go after people who were advertising a service they deem illegal but unless it's a ponzi or some other scam then I think the chances of them wasting time trying to find out who was advertising a service on a message board would be slim though obviously not impossible.

I've see The US doing it with 2 or 3 huge MLM or HYIPs scams such as Genius Funds 10-15 years ago. Giving trouble to people they considered promoters affiliated. I'm talking about scams but it doesn't matter, I mean the point is they can decide you're part of the scheme
I believe those were actual employees, and not someone just advertising the services. They would've had reason to believe that x belonged to y, and that would've been included in the subpeona. Like LoyceV said; the advertisement industry would be absolutely dead if advertisers were held responsible for advertising scams. However, if you advertise an illegal service, that could potentially land you in some trouble. Since a lot of the campaigns users advertise here are legitimate businesses that have been operating for years, this isn't likely to be a concern for many.

They can and will go after Ponzi promoters etc. A fair few youtubers ended up getting into trouble for promoting these things to their audience even though they weren't directly involved they were making money from their referrals etc and spreading the scam to a larger audience. I think some even went to jail for it. Didn't some high profile celebs like Floyd Mayweather and Kim Kardashian also get into trouble for promoting pump and dumps and unregistered securities related to crypto coins as well? Those things are a little different to promoting other services but the legality of such will vary from region to region. Gambling sites are illegal in many counties for instance. I'm sure even bitcoin by itself is illegal to use in many countries too.

Purely hypothetical, but let's say either Betnomi or ChipMixer does money laundering (without the acknowledgement of their campaign participants). Are participants considered guilty, from a legislation point of view, for accepting laundered funds?
Most of the large banks in my country have been found guilty of money laundering. The banks paid a fine, management collected their bonuses, and that's it. The end.

But he's not a large bank. Banks and other large scale businesses operate under different rules to the rest of us. HSBC was caught knowingly laundering a billion dollars for the Mexican cartel and nobody went to prison. They just paid a 2 billion fine which is probably a couple of weeks profit for them and then move on. If you laundered even a few thousand you'd go to jail and pay fines. For banks it's just a calculated risk and they'll take the chance knowing that even if they get caught they'll just pay the fees and carry on.
