341  Economy / Economics / Re: Why anyone who invests 5,000$ now in bitcoin will be millionaire by 2025 on: September 25, 2018, 06:48:18 PM
There doesn't seem to be any reason to believe that Bitcoin will do a 200x multiplication by 2025. You do realize that would yield a market cap of somewhere around 20 trillion dollars? Does that really seem reasonable to you?
342  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Will it be the year for Ripple? on: September 25, 2018, 06:46:20 PM
Just because an altcoin increases 70% in a few days doesn't mean this is "insert cryptocurrency here's" year. I think that this will be a better year for Ripple but until it becomes adopted by several huge banks we are not going to see much change in its valuation.
343  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: which part of bounty could be more profitable on: September 25, 2018, 06:43:39 PM
If you are doing a good job then content creation can definitely be the most profitable, most of these bounty hunters just spam terrible articles that don't have any value at all, but if you create something genuinely high quality I think a lot of managers will give you a lot more stakes due to the value you bring. Quality > Quantity at all times, bounty managers will notice.
344  Economy / Economics / Re: Is it true that a whale moved 8k BTC? on: September 25, 2018, 06:41:52 PM
Just because large amounts of bitcoin are moved around doesn't necessarily mean that there is going to be a huge selloff. These whales know that selling off such a large amount all in one go would cause a huge market crash, so it would be much smarter for them to trickle it onto the market and preserve its value, even if it does take a lot longer to complete.
345  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Change Your Mind About Bitcoin on: September 25, 2018, 06:40:33 PM
Most of the people on this forum have a positive image of Bitcoin, the only thing they are worried about is the fact its value has fallen so much over the last few months. Other than that, the strength of Bitcoin increases as a cryptocurrency, as developments on the lightning network continue and segwit utilization increases. Over time it will be difficult to ignore its benefits.
346  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Need Bitcoin Marketing For Globalization on: September 25, 2018, 06:34:37 PM
Yep there is no real marketing for Bitcoin, corporations and companies have a team exclusively dedicated to marketing their product so everybody hears its good parts and uses it. Bitcoin doesn't have any of this, leaving the media free to say whatever they want, which happens to be whatever is the most attention grabbing (usually bad news!).
347  Economy / Economics / Re: Entrepreneurship is the only way out on: September 25, 2018, 06:32:24 PM
it is true, I think if you look at the average salary of those who are self employed and compare it with the average employed salary in the US, I would expect that it is a fair amount higher. Therefore if somebody has a good idea to employ themselves, it is likely to turn out better than seeking employment, should it be successful.
348  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Power consumption of Bitcoin mining on: September 25, 2018, 06:27:27 PM
Seems like a major over exaggeration, I would like to see where they get their numbers from to assume they use 0.5% of the entire world's energy supply, that's incredibly insane. I have seen other reports saying Bitcoin mining consumes more energy than some entire small countries! If that is true, then we should really be working on a solution to improve the power efficiency of the mining network, as 0.5% of the energy supply is just unsustainable if it continues growing.
349  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Whale alert tool on: September 24, 2018, 12:43:20 PM
Definitely a great idea, looking forward to seeing how it turns out. Where do you plan on getting the whale addresses from, just going to scrape the blockchains? Also, how will you filter exchange addresses from the list, maybe you should have some community contribution plan so that we can all contribute to a full database.

WHALE MOVEMENTS.
350  Economy / Economics / Re: Do you have to make big investment before you can make profit in crypto? on: September 24, 2018, 12:40:29 PM
You can make big profits with any level of investment in cryptocurrency, the only thing that changes is odds of you actually make a great return. For example, if you invest only in moonshots (very high reward, low odds scenarios), and you get lucky, then you will have essentially generated huge profits from a small investment, though you can assume that this is very unlikely to happen so only do so if you are aware of the risks.

Just know that your reward is always proportional to your risk (almost always), don't expect to become a millionaire by investing in a single ICO for example, as it just won't happen. I would instead recommend building up your investment portfolio over time and you will eventually be presented with opportunities to go far.
351  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: UNICEF is now accepting donations in Bitcoin and 8 altcoins on: September 20, 2018, 11:57:45 AM
I think this is definitely a welcome change, makes donating far simpler than it used to be. Though the era of traditional charities might be coming to an end since there is no end-to-end tracking of the funds. Too often you hear reports about charities woefully mismanaging funds, or hearing that the the vast majority of funds are siphoned off by governments and officials that take a big cut before distributing the rest to those who actually need it.

Reminds me of Bitgive, check it out it.

353  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you remember your first sports bet? on: September 01, 2018, 06:11:28 PM
I actually do remember, my first sports bet was just a few years ago when I started getting into boxing. This was when Anthony Joshua was facing the reigning heavyweight champion Charles Martin for the WBC (or was it IBF) belt.

I bet that Charles Martin would lose by either TKO/KO or RTD within 3 rounds, however Anthony Joshua was already the bookies clear favorite to win so I only won about 40% more than my original stake. However, I've continued to bet on AJ winning his next few fights and have turned around quite a significant profit since then.

355  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Your investment strategy? on: July 26, 2018, 08:50:54 PM
Personally I keep 50% of my money in dice site bankrolls, 40% in altcoins and 10% long-term BTC hodl.

So far Bitcoin has outperformed all other markets (except a select few ICOs). So a long term (and I mean LONG term) hold strategy should bear great results, even if in between you miss out on a few gems.
356  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Manny wins over Matthysse!! on: July 26, 2018, 08:45:38 PM
Pacman won by TKO. He’s now a world champion again. He should have never joined the political world and should have stayed at the boxing ring. At his age, I’m impressed by his performance. Imo, I think he should have retired a long time ago but it looks like he’s still got some energy left. Based from his previous matches, he even got slower as compared to before.
All athletes no matter how good they are need to retire at some point of their career, while I would love to watch Manny fighting forever I prefer that he retires with dignity while he still has some gas left in the tank, also if Manny wants to get in politics that is his decision, I am not from the Philippines but I'm sure he is the most popular athlete there and probably the most known person from that country, so it is likely he has a shot at becoming the president of that country in the future and while many could argue he has no experience the fact that you cannot corrupt him since he is a millionaire already and cares about his country could be enough to do a good job.

Doesn't seem to matter about experience when elections are simply popularity contests. I mean look how many movie stars, actors, athletes or otherwise have gone into government jobs with absolutely no experience. The world is a joke if you really think about it, beat a few people up, become popular and boom, you're a mayoral candidate!
357  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Elon Musk accept BTC for Tesla! 🔥 on: July 26, 2018, 08:34:09 PM
Tesla is already burning cash faster than it can reasonably sustain for very long, do you really think the shareholders would allow him to sell a car that is already losing money for a cryptocurrency that could collapse in value at any moment? You do realise that these decisions aren't up to Elon Musk alone, there is a whole board of directors and millions of shareholders that vote on important, potentially company breaking changes such as this.
358  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is this any way to treat a customer? on: July 26, 2018, 08:28:42 PM
Chat representatives have rules they must follow, sometimes they follow them a little too closely rather than escalating the situation to a manager when necessary. However, if they genuinely can't find your chat log, maybe you signed in from a different account or IP address? You should find out what they're basing your search on. Also, sometimes you get a chat log after your chat ends sent to your email, might as well check that for additional evidence.
359  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Lost Dogecoin value on: July 26, 2018, 08:23:08 PM
This type of research is very hard to perform, often because the people who lose their wallets also lose the wallet address, so you can't tell which wallets have lost UTXOs that will never be retrieved. So any numbers you do find on the internet will be more of a guesstimate, rather than being backed with evidence.
360  Other / Meta / Re: Default Ranking-Up System as a Compliment to the current Merit System on: July 26, 2018, 08:18:52 PM
Default Ranking-Up System is indeed a great idea according to me because there are many people on this forum that contribute good quality and constructive posts but aren't ranking up because they aren't receiving enough merit. Although i think that the proposed time for which a person should stay active in order to achieve certain rank is quite much. Surely 86.25 months and 138.75 months are way to much for a person to rank up by this system just because he didn't get enough merits and attention for his/her posts. This wouldn't limit shit posters and spammers anyways. Such ranking-up system must be made which will not only promote a member based on his hard work, dedication, knowledge and contribution on forum but will also limit the spammers and shit posters from ranking up.

Also, to rank up from newbie to jr. member atleast some number of merits must be kept. Doesn't matter even if it is one. This will limit spammers, multiple account users and shit posters from joining the signature and bounty campaigns from the start.

This is a more realistic scenario. In my opinion, the major rank transitions that require a merit component is Newbie/Jr/Member and Full member. Once you've gotten past Full member, then the transition is less drastic, and merit is less problematic. Though, if you have made it to Sr. member under the new system, in time you'll eventually make it to Hero and beyond anyway, so there's no point changing anything.
