According to local reports in New Delhi — where the group members are attending a two-day summit — the framework will facilitate information exchange between countries beginning in 2027."

just what everyone needs. their home country or any country snitching on them to other countries about their crypto activity...before long they'll be asking if you have a bitcoin wallet on your phone or anywhere. and you need to declare it if you're travelling. so they can see how much money you have. then you become a criminal if you lie. a bitcoin fugitive!
By then it will probably be very difficult or expensive to travel Smiley
What I'm saying is that it's all about interaction procedures, which may not be as effective as it seems at first glance.
But all the bans only make crypto users smarter, and governments will have to spend a lot of money on control.

If they want to stop the could. It would be costly and you would need the vast majority of countries to agree to ban it.

Fortunately I doubt that most countries would agree to a ban.

They might agree to a tax setup and if you are in one of the high tax countries you will need to move.

Money wise btc and the other coins are not big enough for this to happen.

Dark mode is pretty fuckup if you are colorblind.

I happen to have color blindness and I hate dark mode. Smaller the screen the harder it is to read.

A lot of men have color blindness so if you go to forced dark mode which is easier than lite or dark mode yiu are screwing a lot of people.

I have zero issue if we go to two modes lite or dark as long as we keep the old school method of thread formating.
This is my second time of seeing someone who does not like dark mode. For me, any website I visit what I look out for is the dark mode. Because humans differ that is why we must continue to have options for people to chose.
I am used to this forum format, but if I want to enjoy my dark mode, I do it with my browser. Some browsers have the capacity to switch modes, but browser dark mode on bitcointalk does not give good blend for the sight.

I use simpleminer for my 100 plus mining gpus.

He switched. to dark only.

I need to go to my 65 inch samsung tv to see it clearly.

Rather than my ipad mini.

Rather disgusted with the switch.

Chrome does have a lite option that is somewhat helpful with his site.

 Closely clocking the growing difficulty.

Miners be prepping for the large greenie coming soon.

What do we need for a record dildo 11k?

3569  Economy / Economics / Re: I wonder if food prices in your country have also increased? on: September 16, 2023, 09:26:15 PM
Even in the USA certain items are way up 🆙

Wheat based products such as  loaf 🍞 of white bread is very costly.

here is a 20 oz loaf of bread on amazon

https://www.amazon.com/365-Everyday-Value-Organic-Sandwich/dp/B07FWCVXBV/ref=sr_1_11_f3_0o_wf?

3.49 plus high delivered fee.

I can go to a local store and pay about 3.49 to 3.99

but it is a long walk or spend 2 in gas to make the trip.

Beef is costly
Lamb is very very costly

Chicken and Pork are less

Rice is not cheap
Flour is not cheap.
Milk is not cheap.

I was spending $100 usd a week to feed my wife and I in 2019
I spend over 200 usd a week now.

3572  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: People Are Not Nerdy Enough on: September 16, 2023, 09:13:53 PM
Yes, I am complaining that people are not nerdy enough. It's been 14 years since Satoshi published his white paper and the vast majority of people still don't understand what Bitcoin is and how to use it. Sure there are many people buying Bitcoin on crypto exchanges and speculating on it.

However, the average guy on the street that I speak to, and even many people on crypto forums still don't understand Bitcoin's potential as a virtual commodity, or it's potential to create an alternative to Fiat economies. Maybe the problem is deeper than just a lack of understanding about the technology? Maybe it's a lack of understanding about economics as a whole? How many people are economists?

I understand that my frustration might be due to the fact that I am coming from a very privileged position. What are your thoughts on this?

Maybe 🤔 you need to look 👀 at the bell curve for iq.

½ the people in the world are below average iq

and ½ are above average iq.

so if you need a minimum of average iq to understand it 4,000,000,000 won’t understand it.

I would argue only 10% maybe 20% of the world understands bitcoin. Not 50%

That means you need to be above average iq to understand it.

So maybe only 1 or 1.5 billion are smart enough to understand it.

Now the next issue is you have to be in a part of the world that gives you some kind of a shot at financial success and non violent peacefulness is also helpful.

I can tell you lots of countries will not be supporting of most of its people.

So maybe 250 to 500 million have the brains and the circumstances to buy into btc.

I think 200 million are using btc as I type. So maybe 🤔 we are close to what you should be in terms of adaptation.
3573  Other / Meta / Re: Night Mode Needed - People Love Dark Mode - Admin Wake Up on: September 16, 2023, 09:00:16 PM
Bitcointalk forum needs dark mode. Many popular websites already have it, for example, youtube. People love dark mode, plus members can browse forum without straining their eyes.
While you say Bitcointalk needs a dark mode, I wonder how you managed to reach this conclusion? Was there a meeting held where this consensus was gotten? While you have made a valid suggestion- because that's what it's supposed to be- it's quite disturbing how you keep trying to turn this forum into a competitive platform like the social media apps you mentioned.
Well, you have been supplied helpful links to change yours to dark mode. Sometimes I feel you just create some posts just for traffic purpose and not so it can benefit others.

Dark mode is pretty fuckuped if you are colorblind.

I happen to have color blindness and I hate dark mode. Smaller the screen the harder it is to read.

A lot of men have color blindness so if you go to forced dark mode which is easier than lite or dark mode you are screwing a lot of people.

3574  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: [INFO - DISCUSSION] Wormhole attack in Lightning Network on: September 16, 2023, 04:34:37 PM
today i would like to present you 4 slides about 'wormhole attack in lightning network'.
in a wormhole attack, a node operator with two nodes at the beginning and end of the route forwards a payment to itself, but cheats to steal honest charges from the nodes in the middle of the route.
in a nutshell, the wormhole attack allows two colliding users on a payment path to exclude intermediate users from participating in the successful completion of a payment, thereby stealing the payment fees which were intended for honest path nodes.

in the following github link this process is also explained: https://github.com/raiden-network/raiden/issues/3758
i also found a very interesting 30-page report on the subject: https://eprint.iacr.org/2018/472.pdf

https://twitter.com/BTCillustrated

So have any proven cases happened?

Seems to me in your example C would not be aware of the cheating or am I misunderstanding the reporting from node to node.

Would C say hey why did D not report to me.

Better yet is the A>B>C>D>E path traceable at all?

If it is not traceable and the node path can't be followed I see a lot of other issues.
3575  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ouch, today someone made a transaction with over $500k fee. on: September 16, 2023, 04:08:06 PM
I figured they would refund.

It does bring an interesting issue for a small pool.

https://pool.laurentiapool.org/#/work

if this small pool had hit it . the software auto sends to the four addresses that have mined to it.

so that 25 coin block would go to four people. take 180 blocks to clear.  and paypal/paxos would need to talk to four people to get a refund. not the pool but the four that mine to it.

I live in U.S.A.  I would not be able to simply return the 7 or so extra coins I got.  My address is registered and is kyc. thus it would look like I had a large taxable income.

Actually, no miner has to refund any transaction fee, even if it's 1000 bitcoins, simply no miner has to do that because there is no limit to bitcoin transaction fees since it's dynamic and fees are manually set from 1 to infinite, you can modify it the way you wish. So, I assume, no one can force any miner to refund, it's absolutely your gesture of goodwill to refund it.
To be honest, asking for refund of transaction fees looks like asking for refund of bitcoins that you sent to wrong address. If I send bitcoins to wrong address that doesn't exist, who is going to refund? This is nature of bitcoin, so, your wrong transaction fees should be taken over like wrongly sent bitcoins or lost bitcoins.

Like I said that small pool above will send me the fees which in the case of this error would be 7 or 8 coins of the 19 extra paid.

7 to 8 coins is very close to 200k.

I live in USA I report my mining my taxes due would be over 50k on that 200k close to 60k tax maybe 65k.

The pool above will send it to me automatically it will be in my hands. so I have a tax issue.

Another pool that could have done this is solo ckpool. you hit the block you get it all automatically.

So you would have 24 or 25 coins in hand.

f2pool most likely would freeze it and it would never go into the hands of the miners. so zero tax issues
3576  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Mempool block 807829 took only 1sat/vbyte on: September 16, 2023, 03:38:33 PM
If it was CoinEx the question is why would they pay a fee at all? As pointed out they are very tightly integrated with VIABTC. CoinEx would just have to create a 0 fee TX and send them the hash and have VIA mine it. Would in theory never even have to be broadcast and put in the mempool.

Probably does not really matter in the end.

-Dave

they may want it to be broadcast and put in the mempool so that chinese government can easily see it.

Low cost and nice paper trail would be attractive if they need to account to chinese government.

I am assuming viabtc has to deal with government of china 🇨🇳 not sure about coinex.

under 20 bucks clear paper trail. I wonder if they do 10 or 15 of these a month. Small cost to keep a government accepted set of records.

It will totally depend on how trustworthy the best family candidate is. If that family candidate isn't some gambling/drinking/drug addict and you generally trust him/her to not take your coins while you're still alive, then probably go ahead.

On the other hand, you can just store your recovery seed and some easy-to-understand instructions in a fire-proof safe.

yeah this makes more sense.  In USA you can store info in a bank in a safety deposit box.

Does not have to be the seed it could be the location of the seed.

Let your trusted relative know you have a safety deposit box.

You would have a two step method to protect the seed this way.

After reading the responses to my last post in this section I realize that there is merit to the current order of things here.
~snip~

I wonder then why this reply of yours is not in that thread, but you opened a new one? After so much time on the forum, you still act like a beginner who doesn't know what thread spamming is...

Well if he locked the other thread and refer us to this thread I would think that is good.

Also all of us Og's should be happy we changed his mind.

I often refer people in his original mind set to an old movie

"wild in the streets"

the main idea of the movie is planned obsolescence.

the slogan they used was "don't trust anyone over 30"

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0063808/
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wild_in_the_Streets

maybe we kept him out of that rabbit hole.
3580  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Biden plan would overhaul 151-year-old mining law, make companies pay royalties on: September 16, 2023, 02:06:06 PM
They won't be able to tax it in that manner.

But you may be taxed on it in many other ways.

The U.S.A. taxes and taxes and taxes and taxes.  Plus they don't pay the budget off year after year after year.

This is the point. Is anyone surprised by this? Politicians have an insatiable voracity for spending, usually those on the left more, but many on the right as well. Just look at the expansion of the global debt by countries.

https://www.usdebtclock.org/world-debt-clock.html

It is only a matter of time for this to end.

Well, I've been hearing this for a long time. Some people have been saying it since 1971 and it's been a long time since then. In the end, it will be a matter of time, but it won't affect me much if it ends in 200 years.

I suspect the idea of turning the left against the right causing great conflict among most people is their master plan to bail on all the debt they made since 2001.

It sounds too conspiranoid to me but I'm not saying you're not right, although for me the most likely scenario is that they will continue printing more and more, with some timid balance sheet reduction and periods of rate hikes like now until they can't take it anymore and we go back to full non stop printing.

Next year is a presidential election in the USA, isn't it? I would bet that they will casually lower rates.

Yeah rates are going to drop maybe spring 2024. Not next week most likely they pause next week then go up in November.

I have watch a lot of cycles of Fed tighten every one ends with a bust out.  So we have not had the bust out.  So they are not

done.  I do think the mining tax for  coins issue in this thread won't happen. As they will not be able to say the internet is federal property.  If we ever get one world wide government it could happen.
