It's all about proper money management. And looking at the 'real' value of A vs B

I have pointed out time and time again that the 400 usd samsung A54 is really close to the quality of the lower priced basic iPhone 15. So why lay out 400 or 500 more for a product that lasts 2-3 years at best.

You can take this across the board with 10 items .

Starbucks coffee vs home made.

I can make quality coffee at home 1quart thermos for about 1 dollar. So 32 oz of coffee for $1.00 a Starbucks venti + a tall equal 32 oz the cost $5.90 plus tax .  That is 6 bucks a day vs 1 buck a day .

yearly total 5 x 365 =         1825
iphone 15 vs samsung a54 = 500 over 2-3 years say 200 in a year
So on two items you save about 2025 in a year.

Netflix streaming 240 usd a year
Going to movies 1 day a week = 15 x 52 or 760
save 520 + 2025 = 2545 in a year.

phone plans I can do tracfone for 30 a month unlimited text and calls Verizon is 50 save 20 a month or 240 a year.
240 + 2545 = 2785 a year.
What did I give up to be saving 2785 a year not much.

I like to cook I buy quality beef and lamb.
If I buy hi end lamb steak  it costs me $40 a meal for me and my wife.
If I buy lamb roasts it costs me $17 a meal for me and my wife
So 10 times a year savings $230 + 2785 = 3015 a year saved.

I buy a special quality fig/coconut bar for desert.
If I buy 8 oz cost 16 usd 20 x that = 160 usd
If I buy 10 pound cost 100 usd. savings = $60 two buys a year saving $120. to do this I bag into 5 bags and freeze 4 of them.

120+ 3015 = 3135 saved a year
2682  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Dogecoin (DOGE) Pumps 10% As Elon Musk Links Memecoin To X on: October 08, 2023, 03:00:06 PM
Doge is at 6.1 cents and for the last 10 days its high was 6.4 cents

We are not getting a pump on it any time soon.

Maybe next fall if then.

Oh for those that wonder what is a use case for Doge.

It is a dirt cheap way to id yourself via a doge address. It is secure and backed by close to 1 billion in gear and power.

about 950 th in asics which is 100,000 L7 units  cost for that is 500 million usd. Plus structures to house and supply the gear along with the power.
2683  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: DON'T mine to Antpool -- KYC imposed. on: October 08, 2023, 02:51:20 PM
I got my pool payout a few hours ago, but the KYC promt keeps showing everytime I login, this could be due to one of two:

1- The dust has been there before they starting imposing their stupid KYC so they allowed me to withdraw
2- They are not serious about it "YET".

I think they have been forced to follow some U.S stupid shit such as banning countries that are sanctioned by the UN aka the U.S such as Iran, Syria and all the none US friends, this pool has turned out worse than centralized exchanges, my guess, at one point they would start taking shit seriously and you won't be able to withdraw anything without KYCing yourself.

So if you have a considerable amount of dust, you might want to hurry up to hit the 0.005 BTC threshold and leave antpool, if the dust you got is not worth it, you should just leave the pool now.

I would also urge users who have Antpool as their second or third pool to switch to another pool, your funds on Antpool will very likely be locked unless you fully expose your identity and address to Shitmain.

And it will get worse due to Israel vs Palestine conflict during into a declared war.
So the USA will to supply Ukraine with arms was slipping.
and new conflict new reason to deal arms.

What is new China vs Taiwan?
2684  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Advice to friend for financial improvement. on: October 08, 2023, 01:50:16 PM
OP, so do I need to sell my computer and phone to invest in bitcoin when you think buying a phone is a waste?  furthermore, what is your goal of investing in bitcoin, do you want a better life or are you just trying to stop using it all to invest in bitcoin?  I believe that most people who buy iphones are people with good income and they also have profitable investments and huge savings.  only some braggart young people would sacrifice important things in exchange for a new iPhone.

One more thing, you can know if there are any devices that increase in value the more you use them, computers, phones, washing machines, refrigerators, air conditioners...they are all serving us every day and I won't call them devalued but we are paying every day for them to serve us.

Buying an iPhone 15 for 829 usd is a waste of about 400 usd. Just buy a samsung a54 cost 400

I never thought he purchased the account. I do think he is weakening the 120 day password warning.

So personally I don’t like what he is doing.

I have a strong suspicion that he has a fabrication of reasons for his behavior but I am wrong often and will leave it be.

Or maybe I will change my password once a month I sure that would make waves 🌊.

Sometimes, when a person is too cautious, it can turn out to be bad for him, instead of good. As OP is too much concerned about changing the passwords  (Is resetting a BTT account password bad? and staking multiple bitcoins addresses (when he haven't done one yet).

In an ideal situation, we never need to change the password and stake one bitcoin address is enough to recover our account, in case our password is compromised.

When anyone is wanting to change the password often, it just bring doubts even though the OP seems to be very clear and i do not smell anything fishy, at least until now.

I think he is cool and not a bad guy. I do think his actions would weaken the warnings we have in place.

Oh I just sent the 0.1000 and change back from that ltc address

https://ltc1.trezor.io/tx/8e0cdcc4904622c3d7cb42fc811e9f74251029c42ca9ffbb6fe339f2baa2e1f0

BTW LTC is a dirt cheap way to id yourself I spent 0.00000301 in ltc to prove I control that address.

Simple to do compared to signing an address and just as effective.
2686  Other / Meta / Re: Can I stake multiple BTC address? on: October 08, 2023, 03:49:53 AM
If you really control a btc address you do not need to sign it to prove it is yours.

Simple say my address is 123 bla bla bla.
It has very little  coin in it.  Pick an amount of btc lower than 0.00010000 and I will move it out.
That is pretty much just as good as signing for it. And it proves you control the address.

Or do it with LTC that's cheaper to move it about. You can prove you own control the  coin's address that way.

ltc1qu7sw3p78w5gq67276kuv6hu4e8zyj76zhnalmd is empty

I can put 0.1 ltc in it and withdraw it.

https://ltc1.trezor.io/address/ltc1qu7sw3p78w5gq67276kuv6hu4e8zyj76zhnalmd

that shows I control it and someone can quote the post I just made.

It is simpler to do that then sign a signature.

And as a demo I sent 0.10000166 into

ltc1qu7sw3p78w5gq67276kuv6hu4e8zyj76zhnalmd

I will with draw it in the morning thus it proves I control that ltc address and I only spent

0.00000166 ltc two times to prove it.

https://ltc1.trezor.io/tx/623fce1dd6eb352bd5754c4d7a1c27bd3a4c95e2debee03eaff9ae710b112cbf

here is the send info cost me 0.00000166 ltc to do it.

I will pull the coin out on Sunday.

What's up WO folks.

I haven't frequent this corner of the internet for quite some time. The spamming of ChartBuddy sure doesn't help. He need to shut up...

I fricking did it though, amboss.space rank my lightning node as #1

The node has a total capacity of ~17 BTC, and is routing on average 0.5 BTC per day. Happy routing!

What kind of earning do you get with that size?

And how much of your coin stays in the pot?

I am curious 👀 because I want to get an ides how easy it will be for bitcoin to scale rewards down the road.
2689  Economy / Economics / Re: Early Retirement [Pros and Cons] on: October 07, 2023, 10:37:28 PM
Did your doctors say you've got long covid? Scientists don't know why some ppl can't make full recoveries from covid. Living in the covid years was dreadful I hope we don't have to live like that again.
I fully recovered other that the physical damage it caused to my vascular system.  My wife fully recovered other than a permanently sensitive nasal system which means daily post nasal drip and coughing.
Being retired it isn't easy fighting illnesses. You've got peace of heart knowing you're retired you don't have other problems to control your life. You don't need a job so you're able to focus getting health back.

I have done a lot of research type A+ blood type people has the worse symptoms and death rates my wife and I are both type A+. So we are a bit more careful about going to public places that are crowded.  IE a sat nite movie in a theater is a no go. But we do go mid week at 2 or 3 much more empty. Some parties at some homes we don't go to as we know the home is small and the party will be crowded.
I don't know about blood types or how they've affected covid death rates. You've researched it so you know more. It's important you control the number of ppl you're moving around because you don't want to get infections.

Yeah my wife is on her fourth nasal doctor trying to control the post nasal drip 💧 which is hard on your lungs.  Have to be persistent. My vascular injury from covid if not dangerous and I have done therapy to correct it quite a bit. Biggest issue for the wife and I is a bit of fear of crowded spaces.
We went to a birthday party and the father used relighting candles so his daughter and seven other kids worked very hard to blow those candles out.  My wife and I did not eat the cake 🎂. As 7 kids 8 to 11 going to three schools between them kind of made us afraid germs.
2690  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: How can I retrieve private keys from a phone with faulty panel. on: October 07, 2023, 10:29:39 PM
Store the phone it is like hodling the coin.

Maybe if btc goes to 1,000,000 that 235 is worth about 10,000

they pay to recover it.

Think of this as a forced hodling.

Btw I still have 2 eth stuck as a result of the first rewrite of the first major eth exploit.

Mac wallet would not synch. I gave up trying to free the coins. So moron owes me two coins as he broke the wallet when he fixed the exploit.

moron is mr v.b.
2691  Other / Meta / Re: How to check post bursting through ninjastic space on: October 07, 2023, 10:22:07 PM
If you can type faster then 50 wpm and I know people well over 100 wpm then you need to register your hands as weapons, you might be posting past the speed limit and people don't appreciate.   I'm definitely on your side philipma1957 as I could do 50wpm before I was 10, it was required for early computer use, coding so I self learnt.
Now I have to be aware not everyone can type that fast and it could be seen as a negative, I definitely try to go back and check I wrote in a readable way hopefully but the onus is on the writer pretty much.   I have 17k posts elsewhere believe it or not so I actually post far less then I could most of the time, I got sympathy for anyone who can type very fast anyhow Smiley

I also noticed some terms in a sig campaign, the moderator or operator of that campaign Royce was offering  a bounty on AI posts. :
Quote
▶️ If I find campaign members breaching these terms, I will remove them from the campaign immediately.
▶️ If you find AI-written posts for this campaign and report them to me publicly or via PM, you will receive the weekly payment instead of the accused campaigner (if your report was successful). Please include as much evidence as possible when submitting a report.

I thought it was worth mentioning and seems very generous to me but please do not just spam him (that'd be ironic Tongue), be very certain before accusing anyone on this forum and have defined proof to give.

On days I am very relaxed I can do 55-60 but not as easy as it was when I was keypunching data entry cards in the navy. When we were in port and you finished the cards you could knock off work.
So the three off us entering would race.  We all could do low 60 speed with no errors.

Fuck that is almost fifty years ago 1978-2023 45 to be exact.

As for burst 💥 posting I think this is my 60th post in three days. since last payout. I only need 40,but in the next few, days I will post at least 50 more. Say 110 for the week.

2693  Economy / Economics / Re: Agriculture vs oil on: October 07, 2023, 09:19:32 PM
We know the oil market is booming and countries with oil resources are really making a huge fund out of it and sometimes they do it at the negligence of another local natural resource.

But, of course, the agricultural sector, though not given the proper recognition and the required investment is one sector that contributes seriously to the development and dependence of most nations .

No matter how blessed a country is with oil minerals, if its agricultural sector isn't working and she has to rely on other country for her food and agricultural resources then in event of war or political differences they might suffer.

Agriculture vs oil, which is the big deal when it comes to the economic strength of a country?
You pose a false dichotomy, especially since agriculture today is highly dependent on oil. Fields are tilled with power tillers or tractors, grass is cleared with weed cutters, many crops are mechanized, like modern olive harvesting which is picked by machine, many fertilizers are derived from oil, etc. Without oil, agriculture would not have even 20% of its current productivity.

Seems, both of you, probably unintentionally, missed that oil and agriculture can't work at its best without scientists, including chemists, physicists and engineers. In order to have qualified personnel, you have to run great universities and do scientific researches. So, what's the best economical strength? Agriculture, Oil or Education? Then there is a manpower, no one wants to work in agriculture or in oil, also, it's very hard and requires talent/willingness to become a scientist. So, we have four power/advantage right now instead of only oil and agriculture. Every country lacks at least one of them, so, as you see, economic strength of each country still depends on other countries.
Probably, right now, the most advantage has Norway when it comes to all of these four. According to food safety index, they are number 3, according to oil reserves, they have plenty for themselves and export it in another countries, then comes education, they are highly educated and have great universities and manpower, they are vikings!

USA has plenty of oil food labor and scientists
China has plenty of coal food labor and scientists.

They are possibly the top two in the world 🌎.

Russia has fuel food labor and scientists.

They are likely number three.

2695  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Invest only in Bitcoin and never invest in shitcoin on: October 07, 2023, 06:37:48 PM
Bitcoin is the father of all crypto currency. The name is an eye opener to crypto, and has brought or attracted many people into crypto currency today. And has continued to stand firmly without fading.

Many turn into shitcoin investor. After knowing about Bitcoin. Unfortunately it didn't work out the way they thought.
I am a tipical example of that. when I heard about Bitcoin how it started from $0.01 to thousands of dollars I thought shitcoin also has that potential. I was working and was investing in valueless coins thinking dey will be like Bitcoin. but never did as Bitcoin. all gradually disappeared. And that made me regret no investing it on Bitcoin then.

Although some people were pretty lucky to make alot of dollars from shitcoin, but mine didn't work out in any ways, so I would like you guys to shear your ideas on this an the possible solution.

To be honest my largest profits were done in Doge then BTC then ETH lastly LTC.

But I mine which is not the same as trading coins.

Although if you bought and held Doge or BTC long enough you made some good money.

ETH stopped mining so I said by by ETH.  I still Mine BTC LTC DOGE
2696  Other / Politics & Society / Re: 2200 Rockets shot at Israel 40 killed. on: October 07, 2023, 06:34:26 PM
First off I am anti killing. Israel 🇮🇱 and Palestine 🇵🇸 seem to be in the first day of a war.

How will the rest of the world deal with yet another conflict.

Stack this in with Ukraine 🇺🇦 and Russia 🇷🇺 conflict.

What will we the rest of the world do with a new conflict?

How will we be affected?

I am wishing for peace ☮️ not violence.

But this may cause a lot of ripples for us all.
This is an ongoing war that just got intensified. Israel and Palestine were never at peace, and this kind of sporadic attack is not new. So, the world will not be affected in any way different from the status quo.

I feel bad see that the world is heading in the direction of anarchy with wars springing up in different countries and none ending.

Yeah my gut feeling is more and more of this will be occurring the next 10 years or so. It's kinda of why I pur it in economics as I feel trade will be more and more interrupted down the road.

I am not sure if Saudi Arabia provides aid to Palestines or Russia but they used more than 1000 missiles or so the news claims. I have to feel this size of attack is 'new' so to speak.

2698  Other / Meta / Re: Can I stake multiple BTC address? on: October 07, 2023, 06:15:28 PM
Some might say, Why don't you stake BTC or PGP and sign a message saying that? The thing is, I don't have a desktop device at this moment. Most of the time, I use Bitcointalk on my mobile. I hope everyone understands my situation.

I really do not understand your situation. If you are too much concern, you can sign a message saying this, but since you do not have access to the desktop, you can wait to reset your password till the time you get access to your computer ?

I just don't get it why there is so much emergency that you need to change your password then and there ? Take you time, once you back to your desktop change your password and sign a message (if you want). The notification of password change will still be visible regardless of you signing a message.

Actually I think it could be a long term scam move. change your password 6 times a year or more so no one worries when you change it for the 7th time. Then do a scam and claim your password was robbed.

I am very tempted to tag him with a neutral.
2699  Other / Meta / Re: Can I stake multiple BTC address? on: October 07, 2023, 06:12:39 PM
No nobody accused me of anything. I just wanted to know because I was curious. I can't help my curiosity, and there isn't any rules says I can't question.  Tongue

Tbh, I don’t really get why some users like to draw unnecessary attention to themselves. You have already changed your password thrice so why not just proceed to change it the fourth time rather than create this thread?

Password change ≠ hacked account/ bought account.

The only time an account becomes suspicious whether they were hacked or bought is when they have been inactive for a long period and then comes to the forum with an entirety different posting style or their posting style change from a constructive poster to that of a typical spammer or if there’s a sudden change of interest that’s when suspicion arises, not just because password was changed.

Has he really changed it three times?

That alone would make me want to give him a neutral. He has not been here a long time.

If you do a 20 character or more password no one is going to hack it.

OCT 27 ,2022 and he is on password 3 looking for # four.

That is poor judgement on his part.
2700  Other / Meta / Re: Should Merit-Sources use feelings when giving out Merit? on: October 07, 2023, 06:06:17 PM
Hey! I was thinking of something this night, this thing about merits and the merit-sources. If you are a merit-source, should you always give away merit to good posts even if you dislike the user that created the post?
Or are you allowed to be controlled by your feelings and only give away merit to people you like or don't know?

It's a different a user can give merit to whoever he wants, because it's his/hers own merit and they can do whatever they want with it. But a merit-source how should he act? Without feelings or with feelings?

I don't trying to blame anyone, or create any drama and I am not disappointed with my low merits, I am quite happy and proud that I already got ten merit and being a member rank, so I am in no rush what so ever to rank up, I actually love the farming and the journey, because when and if I reach Legendary nobody can say I didn't earn it the right way. I rather let it take years of honest farming then months of cheating.
But back to my question, what do you think aboiut merit-sources when they handle out merit? They  should give merit to all good posts right, even if a user they dislike made a very good post. Or is it okay to just skip to give that user merit even that he made a very good post?

Maybe this come as bit confusing, I am sorry my English is not 10/10. But I hope you will understand! Great weekend everyone. / BabyBandit.

Yes they should but only if they feel the post is good.

The feelings they have for a person should not be in the way one way or another.

BTW I feel the question is good and even though you struggle with English you efforted to make sense so I gave you 2 merits.
