2581  Economy / Economics / Re: No petrol/diesel car sales by 2035/ Reality or dream? on: October 13, 2023, 04:11:49 AM
Could be then possibility. Electric cars are becoming more and more accepted into the roads and parkings now  Wink than ever before making it look like the car industry is already at a massive paradigm shift. There’s equal chances and reasons for the electric car world to both fail or flourish. It all bouls down to the fact that all it really takes is a single push at an oppprtune moment during this altercation, and we might see better days in the energy and fuel sector.

You see electric cars mostly in the cities, but if you travel, you will barely notice an electric car outside the city. It will be kind of exception, when a person has bought a new electric car and for the first time is travelling with it (and probably the last time), or he is just travelling to a nearest town. Until electric cars can not do more than 500km on a single charge, it will be a nervous and well planned journey. And it is highly difficult to make a random ride with it. With an average diesel or petrol car, you can ride for 1/4 of Europe during 1 8h working day. With electric car, you will do 2-3 charges and spend almost a day.
If we compare the mileage between diesel/gasoline cars and electric cars. So until now it seems that diesel cars are still superior. For example, I took research data from last year. namely "In 2021, the IEA noted that the average mileage of an electric car with a full battery condition was 349 kilometers."1
And this distance turns out to be only half the distance that can be traveled by a petrol car which can even cover a distance of 665 KM with a full petrol tank. This is what makes many people hesitate to buy an electric car.

But it all depends on the type of car itself. Because it is reported that the electric car from Tesla, namely Type Y, can cover a distance of around 507KM with a full battery charge2. But it still hasn't been able to beat fossil fuel cars. But as research continues, maybe one day the mileage of electric cars will beat that of fossil fuel/gasoline cars.

I do a ride to a relative that is 240 miles round trip a tesla can do 300 miles. I would like a better margin than that.
2582  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you ever feel tired of waiting? on: October 13, 2023, 02:34:19 AM
To be honest, I've had this question for quite a while. I keep seeing people claiming to just hold and hold; it'll take one, two, three, or whatever years for the next bull market. However, I'm often wondering: do you ever feel tired of waiting for Bitcoin to thrive? The past few months, or the whole past year—I'm not sure I've lost track of time—have been quite stale. Bitcoin has been ranging between $25.000 and $28.000 for quite a while. The volatility compared to other periods is lower than we're used to, or at least, to what I was used to in the past.

I feel that there isn't too much excitement and this adrenaline feeling anymore; suddenly you'd see Bitcoin climb or crash; you'd be curious when it'd stop, what your next move would be, or simply feel accomplished seeing your money's value grow. Price movements are quite insignificant at this point compared to the huge pumps or dumps that occurred in 2020 or 2021.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not against holding, nor am I getting frustrated, at least not yet; I did it in the past and regretted it, even though my only source of income is signature campaigns. It's just that sometimes you can't stop the thoughts from circling around your head. I generally didn't bother to even look at it's price, but I've recently started feeling a little wearied. Perhaps it has to do with the life-induced stress that I've discussed in a previous thread. Who knows? How do you cope with waiting?

Well if you are doing a signature campaign you are earning under 2,000 usd a month.

That is not enough.

it will meander along til it collapses. The ultra rich will hide behind safe houses and survival caves. Then they will rebuild it all again.

Look the handwriting is pretty much on the wall. A huge fucking disaster worldwide by 2100 seems certain.

I am lucky to be 66 as I may simply age out and die thus miss the crash out.

2586  Other / Meta / Re: Forum Search Do Not Work - Only Old Results - Admin Complete Fail And Sleep on: October 13, 2023, 02:08:00 AM
There are many forum users, which use search option in the forum, but search results must be true. I searched for Coinomi wallet, which have Bitcoin and multi altcoin transfers and get results in 5 pages from ~2014 - 2017 years, but not the newest ones, for example, this one from August 29, 2023 - What happened to Coinomi?
If forum user is interested in Coinomi wallet, he/she can not get true information, because forum search find only old results, but not the newest ones, which can give true information. There are problems with Coinomi multi coin wallet at the latest time according to the thread from August 29, 2023, - "It looks like they've abandoned the project but left some existing servers running.", so this is serious forum admin fault.
Forum users can only get old search results.
So forum search option in fact do not work due to admin fault and sleep. If the forum search engine is rate limited, it is also forum admin fault and nothing more.

yeah it does suck ,but many members have offered a solution to help you. Actually I like that you mentioned the search sucks as it is true.

It is helpful for newer people to know it sucks and there are other solutions so thank you for bringing it up. I gave you a few merits.

this thread is good enough to be set as a sticky because a ton of people do not know how to search here correctly.
2587  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Yesterday marked 200 days to Bitcoin Halving on: October 13, 2023, 01:59:11 AM

you are correct as a huge amount of hash could go online and speed it up 🆙 to march  and 2024 or a huge amount of hash could go offline slowing it to May 2024.

Or the hashrate could simply go sideways and the ˝ ing will be in April

While the hashrate plays a vital role in how the miners get the block confirmed fast. I don’t see it greatly affecting the date of this halving because of the difficulty adjustment that the bitcoin network has. Once we get to see a huge increase of hashrate and the confirmation of block gets lower like below 10 minutes (say lowest 7 minutes, because I don’t see it getting lower than that) then after a confirmation of 2016 blocks the difficulty will definitely adjust to accommodate that high hashrate and if it gets higher again it will still adjust and make it hard to get solve the puzzle that gets the block confirmed and vice verse should it get lower.

Also with the amount required for equipments that would get a very high hashrate and also the vast amount of miners available I don’t see pools or individual miners spending much to get a high hashrate because they will definitely want to maximize profits.

Here are is a link on how hashrate increases and how the difficulty also adjusts.

This also is a difficulty estimator that’s helps in calculating the next difficulty,

you don't understand I can explain. I know a lot about the difficulty I have run difficulty threads on bitcointalk for 10 years.

Projected Epoch Length:   between 13d 0h 40m 21s and 13d 2h 9m 13s

see the epoch length in black a huge amount of hash is going online this 2 week or 14 day period.

So much is going online we are doing 14 days in 13

So we gain a day in two weeks.

this could happen (unlikely) 14 times as 14 x 14 = 196 about the days left.  and each time we could do
13 not 14 days (unlikely) but if paced this way we could speed the ˝ ing by 14 days.

other direction could happen.

a jump could take 15 days not the average 14.

we could do about 15 all a day long and end up 15 days slower. also unlikely.

Another way to slow is 1 day into a jump with 13 days left hash could drop 60% and that jump would take around 30 days not 14

unlikely but kind of happened  in spring of 2021 when China kicked out a lot of miners.

Realistically if we do a perfect pace (unlikely) we will have ˝ ing https://buybitcoinworldwide.com/halving/

in 185 days and 16 hours  and 41 minutes.

a safe give or take is 171 to 199 days.

more likely 175 to 195 days   as outside those numbers means very odd hashrate moves

you can keep the receptacle you will just need the plug that fits it.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09WQVGNNR/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?

works with some dryer receptacles

and it would work with

 this cable
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0C4YWYGS2/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?

and this cable
https://www.amazon.com/IEC-C20-C13-Splitter-Cord/dp/B07J6S348C/ref=sr_1_5?

so wall outlet =1)

adatper I just linked =2)

l6 -30p to c19 cable =3)

c20 to spliter c13 = 4)
2594  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Antminer S19 95TH setup on: October 12, 2023, 07:47:52 PM
Hi,
I am new to mining, and am about to get towards the end of the month a new Antminer S19 95TH, so, as I have some time to prepare/plan, I was wondering if I could get some advice on how to set it up:
- I was told that I need a separate line of 220V, however I was thinking to get a step-up trafo from 110 to 220V having 5000W. Is this OK?
- I understood that the antminer comes w/o any power cables, so I have to get 2 power cables (similar like those for PCs) from what I could see on its picture, correct?
- what software do I need in order to have it mine properly?
- in order to configure it, is it possible to connect it to a monitor and a keyboard?
- I saw on a tutorial video that the miner needs 2 cables, so would I also need a UPS to plug those cables?
- as sometimes most of tutorial videos are pretty old regarding pools, and software used, is it possible to get a link towards a more recent video?
- do I need a cold wallet? I have right now 2 wallets on Crypto and Shakepay, however I understood that more securely would be a cold wallet, so which one would be a good one to use?
I am going to consult also this forum and see what I can find as information.
Thank you

I assume you have a usa based home due to 120 volt power.

Transformers are hard on the wiring.

if you bump a 1 line 120volt  wire to 240 via a transformer then pull 5000 watts you will very likely melt it.

consult an electrician ask for a 220-240 volt line with a L6-30r receptacle

https://www.amazon.com/ELEGRP-Receptacle-Generator-Grounding-Industrial/dp/B08CXF9WDC/ref=asc_df_B08CXF9WDC?

it will need 10ga  wire and a 30 amp 2 pole circuit breaker.

like this https://www.amazon.com/Square-HomeLine-2-Pole-Circuit-Breaker/dp/B002YEJITO/ref=sr_1_4?

buy this cable
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0C4YWYGS2/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?

and this cable

https://www.amazon.com/IEC-C20-C13-Splitter-Cord/dp/B07J6S348C/ref=sr_1_5?

so

1) 30 amp 2 pole in your circuit box
2) l6-30r receptacle on the wall wire with 10 gauge wire
3) l6-30p to c19 10 gauge 10 foot cable
4) c20 to c13 that I listed.

Should be safe up to 4000 watts or easy peasy 1 s19

lastly do you have hard wired internet with eth cables?

Hi philipma1957,

Thank you very much for the useful information.
I checked again my situation in the basement, and found an outlet for 240V that was intended for an electric dryer, however because my actual dryer is on gas, this outlet remained unused.
The circuit is already on the electric panel and has a breaker, like for a dryer. Would this be enough?
Also I was thinking to use a plug for that outlet with a cable of about 6m that I will pull to a double outlet that I would mount on a wall. What do you think?
I think I will do this with an electrician to do all that cabling.
I have internet 1000Mbps in the house, so I would need a cat7 cable from the router (2nd floor) to the basement, to plug it into the Antminer, right?

Thank you again

most likely the plug will work as electric dryer 240volt lines draw a lot of power
2595  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Have one in full or just part? on: October 12, 2023, 04:21:59 PM
In most cases you do not need all of it. A lot depends on the case use.

If I want a wallet to receive my signature funds. I do not need to know more than the last month of the blockchain.

Myself when I do a bitcode core down load I do it all.

I just did one on a 2tb ssd along with a linux os build.
2596  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: 2023 Diff thread now opened. on: October 12, 2023, 03:21:37 PM
For a moment I thought MW, probably that's a way too, how many reactors can you bring online in 14 days after all?

Anyhow, the forum was down, I lost my thoughts since then, really bad coffee, the math is simply not with me right now but
105% is ~2116 blocks, we need roughly 100 blocks right now we're here:

Quote
Latest Block:   811836  (7 minutes ago)
Current Pace:   107.4505%  (1405 / 1307.58 expected, 97.42 ahead)

so for the next 4 days, we need a pace of less than 0.70% of the previous.
Assuming it is caused by luck we need a bit of unluck too but the block time for the last days doesn't look like something out of the ordinary that pushed it, in reverse order in24h interval time block time is 9, 8.8, 9.73, 8.4, 9, 10.2, 10.9, 8.7

At least it's helping that damn mempool stay low

Oh and btw, Antpool is at 33% for the last 24h, 27% for 1 week and 24% for 1 month, so...we can start pointing fingers.

Hard to do any guess work in regards to power consumption, you just can't tell what models they deploy, is it a fresh instlation or replacing S17s / S19 / M20s / M30s with S19 xp, S21, M50s or M60s, for all we know we could generate 30EH without adding a single unit of power.

But ya, pace is slwoing down a little, maybe not below 5% as I expected, hopefully 6% of slightly below, one thing we know for sure, anyone who is above 6 cents and not using sub 20w/th is already in deep shit.

Weather cooled a lot. I cant over heat my mine no matter how high I clock gear.

So basically I am running 15% higher hash than august 1.

the only gear left on low is my remaining  s17s which is to make them efficient as they are close to 30 watts set to low.

What would be your preferred  sata ssd and your preferred pcie ssd.
I bought a Samsung 870 EVO Sata SSD a couple of months back. 1 TB for just under €60. My old laptop doesn't have a more modern slot, and one of the reasons I haven't replaced the laptop is that I like having 2 drives in there. Most new laptops are too small for that.

90% of laptop users will never make use of their dual drives so there is nothing to really miss here. If for whatever reason you feel an additional hard disk (not just more disk space) is required, feel free to buy any of the external SSDs that have reasonable performance. And have acceptable failure rates as well - i.e. no Sandisk SSDs.

yeah sandisk and western digital fail all the time. (same ssd btw)

Since this laptop was free and old I went cheap got the 85 bucks for 2tb crucial.

I7 3rd gen is snappy.

I guess I should put bitcointalk on it and practice linux mint more that way.

I have so many fucking windows pc's and  Macs
I normally use windows pc's to mine gpus'

and Macs to create content.

But with Mac altering my favorite feature (easy clone and boot externally) I do not want to use them.

So back to the least used (for me ) os.
