2701  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: My bitcoin journey has started again on: October 07, 2023, 02:18:08 PM
I have decided to continue my involvement with investment in Bitcoin. My conviction in the importance and positive tendencies of bitcoin cannot be complete if I continue to just discuss and learn about its existence. I believe that a practical approach to learning is the best approach, hence my decision to invest in bitcoin with the  little funds I have at the moment. I also believe that little drops of water makes the mighty ocean and I'll continue my investments when  funds present itself. I wish to take my journey to another level of involvement, hence my decision. I hope and know that in the nearest future, I will be proud of the decision I am taking now. I intend Hodling my coins for a long time to avoid a repeat of my  former tragedy.

Here are proofs to backup my claims.

so 0.00035334 is a good start. it is about  10 US dollars

In many parts of the world 10 US dollars is an affordable amount.

May I ask do you plan to buy 10 USD a week or two Weeks or a Month? For the next year then reassess your next move?

200 th does 200 x 6.35 cents or $12.70 dollars a day x 500 = 6350 a day before expenses not 607 a day

https://www.viabtc.com/. pays 6.35 cents a th

franky1 missed a zero on his numbers

I am assuming  his 200th at 3000 watts is correct but I think that may be a bit off as no machine I know of claims that set of numbers.

the s21 says 200th at 3500 watts.

It is about 2,317,750 dollars a year before expenses and looks like they can scale a lot at least 10x

network is ~400exa meaning 400,000,000th
900btc / 400,000,000th = 0.00000225sat/th =~$0.063 you are correct

and yes
they started with 1.5mw = 500asics at 3kw for 200thash average

200thash * 500asics = 0.1exa = 0.025% of network(400exa average)
based on daily btc of network of 900btc = 0.0225btc per day = $630 a day income

now they are upto 5mw = 1666asics at 3kw for 200thash average

200thash * 1666asics = 0.33exa = 0.0825% of network(400exa average)
based on daily btc of network of 900btc = 0.075btc per day = $2100 a day income

and thats just the numbers of the 1.5mw and 5mw trials of the potential 107mw capacity

i stupidly missed the decimal by including an extra 0

bad day for me.. i have now corrected. philipma1957 merit earned

the s21 says 200th at 3500 watts.

theres actually some doing over 330th for 5.3kw which if you include the standard 10% variance and easy firmware upgrades and overclocking (many mining pools use efficient software and dont run defaults.. even OP hinted they use a specialist mining system) you can get 200th for 3kw.. and my math was for BEST CASE

You may be first person to give me 50 merits for a post.

I do wonder just how much we could do with geothermal energy.  When I was a kid in the 1960's I used to read Tom Swift books.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tom_Swift

I particularly like this one:

Tom Swift and His Atomic Earth Blaster.

Tom Swift and his Atomic Earth Blaster
The Atomic Earth Blaster is an automated tunneling machine. Tom builds a prototype version that uses mechanical cutters to grind up rocks and dirt before progressing to the final model that uses atomic energy to vaporize rock. The Atomic Earth Blaster is used to drill down to a molten layer of iron deep beneath the earthís crust.

Years later Russia copied the idea.

Good day all. I hope my question falls under the umbrella of this thread if it doesn't do help in recommending where I can make said post. Thank you.

I was always of the notion that there's an invincible price that if Bitcoin falls lower than will spell doom for its survival. I used the cost of mining a Bitcoin since I was of the belief miners won't want to mine in a loss. But a finding showed me that Bitcoin price was lower than its cost last year and nothing was affected except it reduced the number of miners. I tried finding the current cost of Mining a Bitcoin but the data's I found were different.
My questions are

Where can I get real life data's(numerically) of good accuracy of Bitcoin because using google hasn't been encouraging.

Is there any minimum floor Bitcoin shouldn't fall lower that will spell its doom?

It won’t ever be doomed due to low price. But miners will shut down gear ⚙️ if prices drop enough.

Bottom line is 6 cents and top of the line gear ⚙️ has a very good history.

An s19 xp burns 3100 watts or 75 kwatts a day. at six cent power we are burning $4.50

right now a th is 6.3 cents the xp does 135 th or  $8.50 a day

thus 8.50- 4.50= $4.00 profit which should stay safe til the ½ ing.

if we hit the ½ ing with these numbers that gear earns 4.25-4.50 loss of 25 cents.

I must stress that event if it happens and lasts for three jumps of difficulty or six weeks will be a “this time it is different “ event . As it never happened so far.

So yeah what do I think will happen if we get there, I believe 20% of mining will quite and sell off gear.

So basically what price will really alter btc. today 14000 for six weeks.

at the ½ ing 28000 for six weeks.

First off I am anti killing. Israel 🇮🇱 and Palestine 🇵🇸 seem to be in the first day of a war.

How will the rest of the world deal with yet another conflict.

Stack this in with Ukraine 🇺🇦 and Russia 🇷🇺 conflict.

What will we the rest of the world do with a new conflict?

How will we be affected?

I am wishing for peace ☮️ not violence.

But this may cause a lot of ripples for us all.
2705  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: El Salvador launches first volcano-powered mining project on: October 07, 2023, 01:11:22 PM
To be fair El Salvador is a poor nation so maybe this isn't so bad for them, it could be about 20k a month and that's a good thing, plus its a volcano powered thing which is always good thing because it shows the world that we could definitely do it and that's an improvement. All in all this is a good thing, not a great thing, not a huge thing, but its definitely a good thing. We need to keep it in mind as much as we possibly could and be happy about these things.
But can you be sure that using energy produced by volcanic activities can be profitable? Personally, this is the first time I have heard about this type of energy, and I did not imagine that it could be used in crypto mining. Also, the profits that Franky refers to do not seem very convincing compared to the size of the investment. I do not doubt El Salvador's desire to advance in this field, but I think that some details must be clear in order to avoid some confusion. We hope that this will be an encouraging example for other countries to follow suit.

It has to be stable enough to harness as I mentioned Iceland is a world leader in doing this. Since there are a shit ton of volcanos world wide I suspect the world could get quite a bit of power this way.
2706  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: El Salvador launches first volcano-powered mining project on: October 07, 2023, 01:07:46 PM
Iceland has been doing this for years.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Geothermal_power_in_Iceland

Has about 800 megawatts of geothermal power daily.

... and yearly :

As Iceland is situated in a highly geothermal location, 70.38% of total energy used in the country comes from geothermal sources as of 2020.[12] This means 173.2 petajoules (PJ) of the total 246.1 PJ of primary energy used by Iceland in 2020 is from a geothermal source.[12]

A "blockbuster" jobs report keeps the Fed's higher for longer interest policy on track.

A September jobs report that showed the pace of hiring sizzled last month keeps the Federal Reserve on track to maintain its higher for longer policy on interest rates, experts say.

U.S. nonfarm payrolls expanded by a surprising 336,000 last month, the Bureau of Labor Statistics said Friday, or the strongest rate of job creation since January. Economists were looking for the addition of about 170,000 new jobs last month.

This means + 0.25 or + 0.50 in Nov

I have a few friends in banking they think 2024 rates will stay high +5% or more for all of 2024.

These high rates are very good for Long Term Care companies in the USA.

In dec 2021 the top five long term care companies were all in financial trouble. As they make their profits via fed bonds. Now that we have had 2 straight years of rising rates those five companies are all doing better. One more year at +5% will help them further.

The U.S. is unique of r it Long term care insurance market in that it is huge as the government

does not do much for old disabled people with dementia and Alzheimers so people pay for private insurance.

these higher rates are a big bailout for those companies. The US does not want to tap these companies out so they periodically do a session of long rate raises to bail them out.

Think of USA wealth like musical chairs. 10 chairs and 8 buckets of money raise rates the money slides to another chair. So far so good until we crash again.

2710  Economy / Economics / Re: Agriculture vs oil on: October 07, 2023, 08:29:57 AM
You pose a false dichotomy, especially since agriculture today is highly dependent on oil. Fields are tilled with power tillers or tractors, grass is cleared with weed cutters, many crops are mechanized, like modern olive harvesting which is picked by machine, many fertilizers are derived from oil, etc. Without oil, agriculture would not have even 20% of its current productivity.

yeah I would also argue this and opportunity to make a living as more of what helps a county do well. Many parts of the world if you are born into a poor family you will not become middle class no less rich. So some opportunity to  earn more than your parents is a big deal.  Some places there is no way you will be allowed to more upwards out of poverty.

2712  Other / Meta / Re: Can one plagarise unintentionally? on: October 07, 2023, 02:43:43 AM
I will not count whatever will be 'unintentional plagiarism' as plagiarism at all, it is just a shared though or a borrowed thought.

I may have read from a user that passport is a good hardware wallet and Electrum is a good software wallet, if another users asks, I can simply write out that thought to them in fairly similar sentences as the user I read it from used, but it will not fall into the ballpark of plagiarism, especially as the text will have other sentences which makes it unique. I consider it almost impossible to unintentionally plagiarize except by copying and pasting while forgetting to include the source of the content, but writing off the top of your head it is impossible to plagiarize.

When writing without reading a text, the human brain is bound to formulate the thought in a unique way, adding content you already have in it, for this reason, every user has their own writing style and it will show even if they are writing something similar with someone else.

I am in this ballpark of blaming and banning. Some times it looks wrong but it isn’t.
2713  Economy / Speculation / Re: BitMEX founder projects $750,000 to $1 million #Bitcoin price by 2026 on: October 07, 2023, 02:38:34 AM
Again and again, very bullish predictions are aimed at bitcoin.
Previously Michael Saylor predicted Bitcoin would reach a price of $5 million
https://twitter.com/bitcoinlfgo/status/1700981076389413281

This time Former BitMEX CEO Arthur Hayes also explained his prediction

He even said Bitcoin in 2026 will reach a value of $750,000 to $1 million, this is a fantastic figure, considering that currently, Bitcoin is still at a price of $27k-$28k.

The main reason is because he anticipates a financial crisis that could cause interest rates to drop to zero, or a scenario where interest rates increase, but not as fast as the level of government spending. In such a situation, Hayes argues that Bitcoin could be worth around $70,000 by the end of 2024, partly driven by a crypto-halving event.

He also foresees the launch of various exchange-traded funds by major asset managers in the US, Europe, and possibly Hong Kong.
Hayes explains, "That's when the real bull market starts."

Is this a sign of the rise of Bitcoin?
so many predict Bitcoin to reach a fantastic price in the next few years.

I think a lot of it is to do with women's emancipation resulting into two incomes needed to buy an average home and that trap setting the path of the future rather than being able to break out of it.

Men are no longer interested in defending their own countries in the west, they have been de-masculinised, whether that's protecting the country from foreign invaders or internal insane women like Clinton.
Men get the blame for everything.

As a result we lead by emotion only and not logic. If you are not a cuck and don't go along with this thought, then you must be cancelled / de-programmed. No border control for invaders, only for you and me as tax paying citizens wanting to travel.

The recent Russel Brand thing was a good example. If as a woman you scream rape you must be believed and the man gets cancelled, regardless of what actually happened.
Disagree with this and you will get cancelled or taken off air.

Men are no longer interested in raising families. Women between 20-40 are addicted to Tik Tok, make up, instagram and fucking Jack Thunderstroke, not an average looking guy. But men are the problem if women make bad choices.
Birth rates are dwindling. 50%+ of marriage ends in divorce and this trend just getting worse.

Do we ever see anyone/99% men here in W/O talking about doing fun stuff with their families? No, not really. Mostly people talking about doing their own thing, alone or with a fuckbuddy at most: travel, do well at healthy living & sports, music or other hobbies. And that is a good thing for all of us. Fuck being a cuck. Why would you go along with that shite?

However as a society, I think in the long run things just turn to shit all over with the lack of family units forming the most important part and we look to useless lead by emotion politicians instead to control our paths.

Sorry, but when 90%+ percent of the "modern day woman" started buying into the woke bullshit narrative that they are the Main CharacterTM, that life revolves around them, that men are useless NPCs and that they instead will inherit the earth and run everything, that's when they sealed their own doom.

With that attitude they'll all end up in their sixties as depressed, penny-less, overweight cat ladies, alone and never married nor having children. And hating men the entirety of their lives.

With first-time divorce rates now at 50% and climbing higher, most men have awakened to the possibility that marriage and having a family will eventually financially bankrupt them. And with U.S. courts now heavily favoring the ex-wife, it will indeed. That's why they are either going it alone, or waiting much longer to get married.

My advice to young men is this: Don't get married in your 20's, or even in your 30's. You don't know yourself yet, and neither does your girlfriend/fiancee. You don't know the type of person you'll want to be with long term, and neither does she know. Don't get married and raise a family just because "it's expected of you" or "it's time". That's a complete bullshit expectation that society has burdened you with.

Build your career first, save your money, and invest. Get wealthier. Know yourself. Then in your 30's or 40's decide what you want in a spouse, and what kind of family (if any) you want to create.

snip

Here is my advice. I met my wife in 1985 I married her in 1986. My number 1 priority of all things was to please her and then she what she did when pleased. I found out she liked being pleased and then wanted to please me. This makes for a nice feedback loop. So if you find a woman and do my method and do not get the reaction I mention move on as that particular woman is defective. Plus she won't realize she is defective and will blame it al on you no matte what you do.

My advice is based on straight heterosexual people for straight heterosexual people as that is my experience in life.
I do supposed that is likely the same for the other varieties of sexuality  but I can't speak for that.

There is ZERO reason to get married in your 20's or even 30's when you are expected to live past 80.

You have not actually lived and gained enough life experience by then to realize what raising a family is really all about.

Just because it worked out for you doesn't mean it works out for the majority.

snip

I get the idea a 35-40 year guy grabs a 25 year old for breeding.  It works for some.

Although at this point we have more than enough people.

Many live together from 30 to 35 get pregnant then and marry at that point.

Let me tell you one thing that you should know, there will never be equal resources and equal wealth for everyone in the world, there will always be different financial classes in which people will be categorized because the world isn't fair for everyone, there are different faiths for different people, and that's why, we shouldn't dream of seeing a world where everyone will have wealth and everyone will have the same resources available for them.

You also can't dictate the billionaires to start doing good deeds just because they have a lot of money, they have that money because they have worked for it, and they will do their fair share of deeds that they think they should and we can't really go around and teach humanity to billionaires and tell them how they can help make the world a better place, they basically don't care about all this shit.

Pretty much part of why they don't care.

other reasons are feeding the poor makes more poor as they get healthy enough to have more kids.

If you look at the current world setup up the ten richest in the world could not fix the issues if they spent 90% of their money to fix it.

2717  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Stop discouraging Newbies from Bitcoin... on: October 07, 2023, 12:21:44 AM
I have noticed something about some people in this forum...

Why is it that everytime a newbie shows his or her interest in trading Bitcoin, some people will always try to discourage the newbie?  You see them saying things like “Bitcoin trading is not for newbies”

None of us here was born a professional trader, fact is that we all had to start from somewhere. We were all once a newbie, until we started learning and putting in the work.

So when you see a newbie ask for advice on how to start up on their journey in Bitcoin trading, don't try to discourage them, rather give them the advice on how they can start, and also let them be aware of the risks and how to avoid it. If we must grow the community, then we have to learn to encourage everyone to get along, and not try to discourage them.

.
Thanks.

If you never traded anything starting with BTC is just plain dumb.

No more no less.

If you insist on starting with BTC buy x every week for 20 weeks in a row. make sure you can lose all of it.

Once you buy x each week list it for 5x the price.

Go for 20 weeks and  reassess . If you can't follow that do not trade.

This should work since you very likely will have 20x units of btc at week 20.  If you follow the instructions. If you can't follow them you will be a terrible trader.

Due to a lack of discipline .   I suppose you can tell this to a newbie trader.

Did your doctors say you've got long covid? Scientists don't know why some ppl can't make full recoveries from covid. Living in the covid years was dreadful I hope we don't have to live like that again.

Travel advice isn't some thing we read about so one more thanks. If my retirement plans goes ahead I'll take my family on trips. If I make it to retirement some unpredictable incidents could occur to damage the plans so I'd like to do it. I'll retire to find a happiness but if a problems shows like when covid 19 arrived it'll affect every thing.

I used to think this. but covid 19 restricted my movements along with my wife so we stopped travel for 2-3 years. We both got very sick 2019-2020 to this day we still have damage from covid so we have cut travel back a lot. Some advice if you are younger then me (66) take a trip or 2 before you retire since you may find it hard to do when you do retire.

I fully recovered other that the physical damage it caused to my vascular system.  My wife fully recovered other than a permanently sensitive nasal system which means daily post nasal drip and coughing.

I have done a lot of research type A+ blood type people has the worse symptoms and death rates my wife and I are both type A+. So we are a bit more careful about going to public places that are crowded.  IE a sat nite movie in a theater is a no go. But we do go mid week at 2 or 3 much more empty. Some parties at some homes we don't go to as we know the home is small and the party will be crowded.

When you start pension collections will you live in your country for retirement. When I retire I'll keep my house in my country to stay close to family. I love my country it's my roots but I don't want to retire here. If I'm getting good pay from pensions or investments I'll share time abroad for new enjoyable experiences when I'm old.
