2621  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: So I got a free laptop and am looking to setup a linux os for a node . on: October 11, 2023, 02:36:18 AM
okay so I installed mint and I swapped out a crappy 500gb spinner for a responsive micron/crucial  2tb sata ssd..

I know have a snappy feel to the Asus laptop and I just down loaded core release 25.0 to set up the node .

So far so good.

Mint seems okay. been quite awhile since I used linux. Although I do run my gpus with linux and simple mining but that is more custom.
2622  Other / Meta / Re: Legendary Members Spread Completely Fake Information - Merit System Do Not Work on: October 11, 2023, 12:01:25 AM
So because that user is spreading misinformation the merit system doesn't work? What about the misinformation you are currently spreading? The merit system has its flaws, but overall it works just fine. You can't go just trusting what users post though as far as information goes. Always DYOR(Do Your Own Research).

personally badecker is fucking nuts and writes nonsense on a constant basis.

The op is not aware that BADecker is like a class clown 🤡. I have no issues that he started this thread.

At op good work you spotted one of the forum’s nuttiest people.

NotBatman had a crazy flat earth thread going for a long time.

2624  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Antminer S19 95TH setup on: October 10, 2023, 09:49:45 PM
Hi,
I am new to mining, and am about to get towards the end of the month a new Antminer S19 95TH, so, as I have some time to prepare/plan, I was wondering if I could get some advice on how to set it up:
- I was told that I need a separate line of 220V, however I was thinking to get a step-up trafo from 110 to 220V having 5000W. Is this OK?
- I understood that the antminer comes w/o any power cables, so I have to get 2 power cables (similar like those for PCs) from what I could see on its picture, correct?
- what software do I need in order to have it mine properly?
- in order to configure it, is it possible to connect it to a monitor and a keyboard?
- I saw on a tutorial video that the miner needs 2 cables, so would I also need a UPS to plug those cables?
- as sometimes most of tutorial videos are pretty old regarding pools, and software used, is it possible to get a link towards a more recent video?
- do I need a cold wallet? I have right now 2 wallets on Crypto and Shakepay, however I understood that more securely would be a cold wallet, so which one would be a good one to use?
I am going to consult also this forum and see what I can find as information.
Thank you

I assume you have a usa based home due to 120 volt power.

Transformers are hard on the wiring.

if you bump a 1 line 120volt  wire to 240 via a transformer then pull 5000 watts you will very likely melt it.

consult an electrician ask for a 220-240 volt line with a L6-30r receptacle

https://www.amazon.com/ELEGRP-Receptacle-Generator-Grounding-Industrial/dp/B08CXF9WDC/ref=asc_df_B08CXF9WDC?

it will need 10ga  wire and a 30 amp 2 pole circuit breaker.

like this https://www.amazon.com/Square-HomeLine-2-Pole-Circuit-Breaker/dp/B002YEJITO/ref=sr_1_4?

buy this cable
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0C4YWYGS2/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?

and this cable

https://www.amazon.com/IEC-C20-C13-Splitter-Cord/dp/B07J6S348C/ref=sr_1_5?

so

1) 30 amp 2 pole in your circuit box
2) l6-30r receptacle on the wall wire with 10 gauge wire
3) l6-30p to c19 10 gauge 10 foot cable
4) c20 to c13 that I listed.

Should be safe up to 4000 watts or easy peasy 1 s19

lastly do you have hard wired internet with eth cables?

New Challenges in Finance: The Federal Reserve Considers Further Rate Hikes and Accerx's Strategies to Respond
The recent statement by Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell has attracted widespread attention in the financial industry. In such a critical moment, interest rate hikes have become a double-edged sword in monetary policy, capable of both curbing high inflation and potentially impacting financial markets. This statement highlights that the shadow of inflation still looms over the economy, and balancing growth and stability is a challenge faced by all financial decision-makers.

Interest rate hikes typically mean an increase in borrowing costs, which is a test for both businesses and investors. Especially in the digital currency market, a market highly sensitive to external economic factors, any minor external shock can lead to significant inflows or outflows of funds.

Accerx, as a leading digital currency encryption platform, has always been attentive to these subtle market changes. In the field of cryptocurrency, market participants need higher acuity to capture every possible investment opportunity. When the Federal Reserve mentions interest rate hikes, many cryptocurrency investors may worry about funds flowing from high-risk assets to traditional safe assets.

However, behind every risk lies an opportunity. This is also the investment philosophy that Accerx has always adhered to. For cryptocurrency investors, in the face of the Federal Reserve's policy adjustments, they should delve into research and analysis to find undervalued assets in the market. At this time, a powerful and professional platform becomes particularly important.

Accerx's research tools and information services can help investors accurately judge market trends. For example, through various analysis tools on the platform, investors can quickly understand which digital currencies have been positively or negatively affected by Federal Reserve policies, enabling them to make wise investment decisions.

At the same time, Accerx also provides users with various investment strategies, allowing them to have multiple choices when facing market fluctuations. Whether conservative investors or those seeking high returns, they can find suitable investment plans on Accerx.

Every decision made by the Federal Reserve has far-reaching effects on global financial markets. But only by truly understanding the logic behind these decisions can one find opportunities amidst the changes. Accerx has always believed that knowledge and information are investors' best weapons. Only through continuous learning and research can one navigate the turbulent financial markets steadily.

In conclusion, regardless of how the financial markets change, Accerx will stand shoulder to shoulder with its users, providing them with the most professional and timely services and support, helping them succeed in the digital currency market.

Hmm this is interesting but it does look you did not clearly let us know where it is from. Is it your writing or someone else's.
2626  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin and gambling which one has done you more harm on: October 10, 2023, 08:57:24 PM
When we gamble what we are looking after or expecting is money which is [profit] and when buy bitcoin and invest what we are looking after is [profit] and when you so many people they skip bitcoin investment to gamble and some uses very big amount of money to gamble whereas the same amount of money will achieve some fraction in bitcoin investment. So I come with this question to know the thing between this option or words I presented the one that done you more harm, if bitcoin  has done you more harm during the times you invested in bitcoin you can tell the public and if gambling has done you more harm by losing in gambling frequently you can also tell the public.

But for me I think gambling is the one that done people more harm than bitcoins investment, because almost every day people gamble with different platforms but its few of people that invest in a day or weekly, I will like us to discuss these.

HOW ON EARTH DID I MISS THIS THREAD.

I am a complusive gambler> I go to a program and have not made a bet since July of 1990.

I was a very antisocial troubled person from 11 to 33 mostly due to my parents divorce due to my dads compulsive gambling. I sided with my dad and choose to behave very poorly until I met my wife in 1985.

I thought I could stop gambling on my own but had issues on and off until July 1990. I talked everything over with my wife. I join a program and have not bet in over 30 years.

Bitcoin was very good to me I follow a non risk method which allowed me to make money on it. I still make money on it.
I am happy I was a compulsive gambler and did go to a program to stop doing that.

Well between nutildah, JJG and myself we have amassed more than 23,000 merits and handed

out more than 25,000 merits. With those volumes  some merits are going to bad actors some of the time.

The 8000 or so merits I have handed out have gone to more than 1000 different member. And maybe 20+ were banned. you just can't always be correct about a person .

I would like to thin JJG does not get paid feedback money for merits. I don't and I think others are like me. I would prefer to think this of JJG.

Hoping that nutildah is wrong and its just a joke.

It seems to me that you, philip, are giving too much benefit of the doubt to nutildah to even go along with the possibility that something like what he had said might be true without him having had shown any facts and/or actual logic - besides putting the assertion within a cute little poem.

Since some members are not going to know these kinds of things, probably Nutildah has a bit of duty to clarify that he is full of shit, retract his statement, probably apologize and say that he will never do it again (even though that might not be true with the arrogant lil twat) and/or if he happens to have facts and/or logic to back up his bullshit likely to be disingenuine little assertion, then maybe he should set forth such facts and/or logic.. and maybe this here thread would be as good of a place as any.. or maybe starting another thread could be started.. There tends to be flexibility in these kinds of mud-slinging matters...

As sometimes "we" like to say around here (just like your mom used to say to you when a kid), "it is all fun and games until someone's eye gets poked out".. OUCH!!!!

But I like him in general so I want to give him the benefit of the doubt. Much as I like you in general and want to give you the benefit the doubt.

One of the issues all three of us have along with dude any loyce maybe 15 of us total is we have tons of merits given out.

I don't want to think that of the 15 top merit givers 2 or 3 or 4 of those people are dropping merits for profit in a back door deal.

@ who is John Galt I think it is tongue in cheek but that anyone does know merit farming has

occurred time and time again. I guess this thread will be some what funny and ironic while vaguely disturbing which knowing the op is what he was looking for.
2628  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: October 10, 2023, 05:18:59 PM
I told you that we were living in a world on the brink. Where every slight… every injustice… where every choice reveals our sins. And where have those sins lead us? Where have those sins led you?

As i'm feeling to do so today, i am giving you another free lesson:

1. Justice is relative. What one's considers as justice, someone other is considering as injustice.

2. "sin" is an old word for "consequence".

Better try yourself to understand what you're writing.
You're now my pet troll, officially. aaaaaw  Cheesy

Dude you quoted him. There may be a shift in the universe.

So far I am surprised at markets and BTC reaction to the new conflict.

But oil will likely push upwards and gas will move upwards thus inflation will go up and interest will rise.

More follow up they gave six coupons good value coupons 350 usd.

Since I still have gpus I decided to buy a case using the $350 coupon. so a 600 dollar case became

$356.80 with shipping to me in New Jersey. Gear was in stock I ordered it on August 9th

Took cheap shipping and it was due in 30-40 days which would sept 9 to sept 19

It is now 60 days Oct 10.  I will post to let you know if they send me a case or a refund.

This is more concerning as it is one of their main products a GPU case.

Well serves me right for giving them a chance to show they are back on track.

2632  Economy / Speculation / Re: Good time to sell? on: October 10, 2023, 01:53:06 PM
A simple question to those who are hoping to profit on the next Bitcoin bull-run:
How do you determine when is the good time to sell?
in other words: how would you know we've reached the peak?

Do you have a set "goal" price at which you'd be selling no matter what happens? Do you intend to sell incrementally as the price goes up? Or maybe when the price gradually drops (e.g. it goes down for X days in a row), indicating we're past the peak?

All of below is based on USA taxpayer and you do not need the money.

If you are 2x the investment no.

If you are 3x the investment maybe.

If you are 4x the investment yes.

If you put in 10,000 usd and could sell for 20,000 usd by the time you pay taxes of 28 % or more.

you would be down to 16,500 so no big deal not worth the sale.

If you put in 10,000 and could sell for 30,000 by the time taxes are paid you are at 23,000

which with todays inflation is meh.

If you put in 10,000 and could sell for 40,000  it means you could sell half get 16,500 be ahead and let the other half ride or

you could sell all and get about 29,500 after taxes which is about  3x your investment and it would have beaten inflation.

2635  Economy / Economics / Re: Early Retirement [Pros and Cons] on: October 10, 2023, 02:34:53 AM
I feel like the word retirement has a totally different meaning in the 21st century. I doubt anyone actuals "retires" anymore, it more like financial freedom to just pursue what you want, when you want.

I'd happily "retire" onto a nice plot of land and fix up old cars, it'll be hard work but I'll be doing what I want knowing I've already secured my financial freedom.

Just my 2 cents  Grin

Yeah I am a gear head. Fixing and runing gear is what I like to do.

So mining ⛏️ with 150 gpus and 100 plus asics is ideal for me.
2636  Economy / Economics / Re: Fed on brink of fifth(?) round of quantitative easing on: October 10, 2023, 02:25:54 AM
Feds now have a new war action to figure in. I am guessing a strong move up. 0.50%

As for wages. New York went to 20 bucks with built in cost of living numbers added.

All that does is weaken the middle class by making the poor get more and the middle stay still.

If you are going to give a nice raise to the poor you need to raise the tax on the people earning 500k.

Then the poor gain on both the middle and on the rich.

If you don’t sweat the rich you are simply wiping out the middle class.

...and

Happy Columbus Day! to all of the Wall Observers in the USA (except for those in those in the cities of Akron, Austin,  Berkeley, Boise, Cincinnati, Denver, Los Angeles, Mankato, Philadelphia, Portland, San Francisco, Santa Fe, Seattle, Saint Paul, Phoenix, Tacoma et al or in the states of Hawaii, Alaska, Vermont, South Dakota, New Mexico, Maine, and the parts of California where it has been renamed to Indigenous Peoples' Day) in which case I would wish you a Happy Indigenous Peoples' Day!

and if you're in Akron, Happy Indigenous Peoples' Day  North American First People's Day/Columbus Day Italian-American Heritage and Culture Day!

Whew!  I need a nap... too much turkey.

Hey, if my company wants to pay me for a holiday commemorating a day some Spanish dude got lost in the Caribbean but thought he was in India, then apparently he discovered the good ol US of A, even though he never set foot in North America, hell, I ain't gonna argue. I don't give a ratt's ass what they now decide to call it. I like paid days off. But that's just me.
Almost as absurd as Good Friday, another paid day I get off, because some religious dude allegedly came back to life and giant creepy bunnies run around gathering polka dotted eggs in a basket and scaring toddlers.....go figure.

Dude he was Italian and working for a Spanish queen.

He was not much of a villain or a hero and when he got back to Spain he and his family got involved in a 300 year long court battle with Spain. Spain destroyed all his journals so whatever you hear or read about him is written propaganda written by Spains royalty. Eventually his family won the battle. Spain still has a royal pardon against him and his family and try to badmouth to this day.

The scumbags involved in pillaging Mexico central America and South America were Spain and Cortez. We will never know much truth about Columbus due to Spain's mistreatment of him.

Damn maybe fifty extra years in the sack with her. Would be really nice.

I have  27  1oz bars and rounds
I have 100 Morgan and peace dollar

the above weighs 300 plus oz and the value is under 9000 usd.

the downside is it is heavy.

The upside is I keep it in an easy place for thieves to find.
