That's a nice easy "legacy" address that can also be verified on BrainwalletX without any hassles.
3562  Economy / Reputation / Re: Unknown reason for scam warning in our thread on: November 19, 2019, 10:53:10 PM
What are the ways to remove this?
The only way that the red trust rating can be removed is if the user who gave it to you removes it. There are NO other options.

The likelihood of Lauda removing a negative trust has historically been very very VERY small. Your options at this point are to "politely" PM then *ONCE*, presenting your case and then wait. If you hear nothing or they say NO, then you are basically shit out of luck Undecided

Admins will NOT remove the rating.

As for the "scam warning" on your thread(s)... that will show as long as someone on DT1 or DT2 (Default Trust) has left you a negative rating. It only shows for users who are not logged in (and possibly newbies). For instance, I don't see that warning unless I use a browser window where I'm not logged into the forum.

So, theoretically, if Lauda were no longer on DT... the warning would not show, regardless of whether or not they had left your negative trust. A lot of people have been trying for a long time to make this happen... The result: http://IsLaudaStillOnDT.tk/
3563  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Blockchain.com not showing Bitcoin transaction on: November 19, 2019, 10:37:27 PM
or another possibility is that the address that is being displayed to you is NOT part of your wallet and has been modified by malware to display a hackers address.
This option is impossible, we're using the official Blockchain.com website - this is an address provided by them. No hackers involved.
If you have managed to get "evil" browser extensions or tampermonkey scripts installed... it is completely possible that one of those could modify the address being displayed on the "official" website. This is not only theoretically possible, I have seen examples of scripts that do such things in circulation. There was one posted to this board in the last few days that did something similar to users on LocalBitcoin.com. In any case, like I said, it wasn't "likely".

Is this normal not to see the balance updated yet?!
It's now showing! Phew.
As for why it took so long? It's possible that bitcoin.com may not show the transaction until it gets 6+ confirmations? Huh When I first checked, it only had 4... now it has 13+.
3564  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: The Ledger Nano S firmware version 1.6 is ready for testing+Final Version! on: November 19, 2019, 09:57:01 PM
Ok, so I finally got 1.6 firmware update available. It installed flawlessly in a matter of minutes... There was a warning that if going from 1.3.1 or 1.4.2, you needed to manually remove all the apps from the device first... I was going from 1.5.5, so it deleted them automagically. As it turns out, the device was NOT reset, so didn't need to use recovery seed etc.

Managed to install BTC, BCH, LTC, DOGE, ETH and Stellar without any "space" issues.

I also like the new "must click both buttons to select an option" system... and overall the new UI seems a bit more intuitive than the old one. 1.6.0 is definitely a worthwhile update, imo.

Have since discovered that Ledger Live does not support "CashAddr" format addresses (aka "bitcoincash:")...  who knew? Tongue Roll Eyes
3565  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: -importaddress takes >20min on: November 19, 2019, 09:46:37 PM
Quote
importaddress "address" ( "label" rescan p2sh )

Note: This call can take over an hour to complete if rescan is true

Arguments:
1. address    (string, required) The Bitcoin address (or hex-encoded script)
2. label      (string, optional, default="") An optional label
3. rescan     (boolean, optional, default=true) Rescan the wallet for transactions
4. p2sh       (boolean, optional, default=false) Add the P2SH version of the script as well
Sounds like 20 minutes is better than 1 hour! Wink If you don't explicitly specify the rescan parameter as "false"... then every time you use the importaddress commmand, it will rescan the entire blockchain looking for transactions that relate to that address.

So, if you're importing multiple addresses, you should specify "rescan" as "false" until you get to the last address that you want to import... then specify that as "true" and it will rescan ALL of them at the same time.
3566  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Blockchain.com not showing Bitcoin transaction on: November 19, 2019, 09:36:39 PM
Either their wallet system is having some issues and simply hasn't updated your transaction history and balance correctly as yet... or another possibility is that the address that is being displayed to you is NOT part of your wallet and has been modified by malware to display a hackers address.

I'd guess there is just an issue with their wallet system. The malware option is probably fairly unlikely Tongue

Give it another 15-30 minutes and see if it updates.
3567  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Seed phrase last word loss (eth) on: November 19, 2019, 08:26:43 PM
I encountered a similar situation in the bancor service. When I needed to write down 12 words I took a screenshot of the screen. Then when I needed to restore the wallet I noticed that when I took the screenshot these 12 words were translated into my native language. Now to unlock the wallet I need to translate all these words. But it's not that simple.Because 1 word-can be interpreted differently. And that's 12 words. I've got $1,000 in my account. Who's gonna help me solve the problem, I'll give you half of that amount.
Firstly... taking a "screenshot" of your 12 word seed mnemonic is a very bad idea! Who knows where that photo ends up being stored on your device(s) and cloud service(s).

Secondly... the fact that it got "translated" suggests that it was probably sent through a cloud service to get converted (possibly Google?). Shocked Shocked Shocked

As for recovering the words, depending on the language it was translated into... I would think that it should be fairly easy to cut the 2048 wordlist down to a significantly smaller subset as the words are not that similar to each other.

With a smaller subset (probably less than 30)... and one of the first addresses generated by the seed mnemonic, you'd probably be able to brute force it using a script fairly easily.

I invested $1000 usd in a mining manager Tony Montano on the 2 Nov now i cant cash out until i pay him over $900 in fees ... his site is Antpoolmininginternational.com
The "real" Antpool is a Chinese based mining pool here: https://www.antpool.com/

antpoolmininginternational.com is nothing but a scam. Your money is gone. DO NOT "invest" or sent them any more money. You will not get anything back.

I have the wallet address but I dont know how to read the data.
The address is useless to you. If you don't have the private keys you do not have access to the coins.

"A new order for the ages" indeed...

Notes:

So, the top motto "Annuit cœptis" translates as: "[providence] favors our undertakings" (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Annuit_c%C5%93ptis)
and the lower motto "Novus ordo seclorum" translates as: "A new order for the ages" (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Novus_ordo_seclorum)

Both of which I think work nicely with Bitcoin and Bitcointalk Wink

I had originally thought to just edit the bitcoin logo into the "eye" at the top of the pyramid... but it was just too small to really stand out properly... so I ended up just replacing the entire top part... the background glow fitting nicely was an added bonus. Modifying "The Great Seal" text at the bottom to "Bitcointalk" and the Date (originally 1776) to "2009 - 2019" took a bit of work as I really suck at graphics/image editing and I don't have a pen/stylus... I did it all with a mouse Undecided

3572  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: wrong bitcoin address on: November 19, 2019, 07:56:22 AM
Ok... so you'd need to correctly identify what the root cause was before you can judge whether or not you've fixed anything and the likelihood of it reoccurring in the future. So, back to the original problem of addresses being automatically changed to 13gwPnRgJjqsg2T1QQ6LQXtxWJAQDJWD6z.

If you copy/paste the following addresses one at a time:
1BvBMSEYstWetqTFn5Au4m4GFg7xJaNVN2
17VZNX1SN5NtKa8UQFxwQbFeFc3iqRYhem
1CC3X2gu58d6wXUWMffpuzN9JAfTUWu4Kj

Do those addresses paste correctly or are they changed to something else? Huh

Does it only do it on a particular website (ie. ONLY on Kucoin)? or does it do it when you paste an address everywhere (text editor, browser, Word document etc)?

If it ONLY happens in the browser and only on one (or a couple of) particular site(s), it might be a Tampermonkey type extension designed to mess with particular websites only... if it does it EVERYWHERE, then it's most likely a generic clipboard hijacker.
3573  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: HELP !- Balance showing ZERO, new laptop, using legder and Electrum!!! !!HELP!!! on: November 19, 2019, 07:33:08 AM
Unfortunately, that link doesn't appear to be correct... so it isn't much help.

I'm wondering if the change in derivation path was simply a move from legacy to segwit? Or if you're confusing the changes made with the ETH derivation paths (which would have no bearing on your BTC accounts)

It's also possible, if you created multiple "accounts" on your Ledger that you're not seeing everything in Electrum. Electrum only supports ONE Ledger "Account" per wallet... if you had extra accounts you have to create a wallet per account and need to modify the derivation path slightly during wallet creation to see the extra accounts.

At present... what can you actually see in Electrum? Is it showing ANY transaction history at all? In your previous screenshot, it was only showing a blank history. Has Electrum finished syncing? (Green dot in bottom right corner):

Or is it still showing the blue "syncing" arrows?

3574  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: ProtonMail black friday is on! on: November 19, 2019, 06:07:07 AM
How an IP be evil unless you are not allowed to created multiple accounts ? And there should be no reason to avoid multi account creation from single IP.
They explain it perfectly well when you are on a "bad" IP if you click the "Why is this required?" in my screenshot above:

You are allowed to create multiple accounts, but there is some sort of (unpublished AFAIK) limit to the number of accounts any given connection is allowed to make. After you reach that limit, then you're required to do the "extra" verification involving either emails/SMS/donation.

My guess is that people were abusing the Protonmail free accounts for spamming/scamming and Protonmail are attempting to prevent this by putting this restriction on "Bad IPs".

As pointed out in the message, it's quite possible that VPNs and/or TOR connections are causing issues for "legit" users, as those connections have been abused by spammers/scammers in the past. If you're getting this issue, try using a different connection, TOR exit node or VPN to create your protonmail... it's only an issue during the initial sign up... after that it doesn't matter what connection you use.

A very good post. Not always easy to say publicly "I fucked up"... Hopefully will serve as a warning to others and who knows... it might just save one person from being a victim!

Also, just FYI, the "Developer Mode" setting is in a slightly different location on Android and iOS versions of Discord... Android it is in "User Settings -> App Settings -> Behaviour" and on iOS it is "User Settings -> Appearance -> Advanced".

Refer here: https://support.discordapp.com/hc/en-us/articles/206346498-Where-can-I-find-my-User-Server-Message-ID-

That article also explains how to find "Server" and "Message" IDs. I could see the "Server ID" being useful to avoid being invited onto "fake" servers.
3576  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Move bitcoins anonymous to another wallet on: November 19, 2019, 01:41:21 AM
I will ofc use a vpn. But is there anything else that I should do?
Depends on what wallet you're sending from... it's quite possible that your privacy is already gone.

As mentioned above... the two best options for trying to "anonymize" your transactions are:

1. Use a mixer/tumbler like ChipMixer
or
2. Use a "CoinJoin" wallet like Wasabi

There are a lot of scam mixers around... ChipMixer is reliable, but there are a lot of scams that use similar URLs etc, so be careful and don't rely on Google searches as it is a common way for people to click the wrong links. I'd recommend visiting their announcement thread on BitcoinTalk here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1935098.0
3577  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: HELP !- Balance showing ZERO, new laptop, using legder and Electrum!!! !!HELP!!! on: November 19, 2019, 01:08:03 AM
Ahhhh ok... my bad... it seems that the numbers shown when "synchronizing..." is actually the "addresses" that are being synced.

You have 736 addresses that need to be synced! Shocked Shocked Shocked

Depending on how these addresses were used, you might have a LOT of transactions that need to be synced up. Sometimes Electrum struggles with very large numbers of addresses/transactions. If you click on the "Addresses" tab (Menu: "View -> Show Addresses")... how many addresses is it showing at the moment? Huh
3578  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: HELP !- Balance showing ZERO, new laptop, using legder and Electrum!!! !!HELP!!! on: November 19, 2019, 12:35:19 AM
It works upto a point then freezes?
https://imgur.com/a/mPBQuav
It seems it is still syncing... something like 736 various transactions... that could take a while. Has it been stuck at 730/736 for a while? Huh

As much as I prefer Electrum, in all honesty, I suspect that all of this would have been "faster" and a lot less hassle if you had simply downloaded and installed "Ledger Live" Tongue
3579  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: HELP !- Balance showing ZERO, new laptop, using legder and Electrum!!! !!HELP!!! on: November 18, 2019, 11:46:16 PM
I selected as above and all was good, it stopped halfway whilst loading transaction on the date where Ledger informed me and a lot of others that we had to set a route.
I'm not at all familiar with what you're talking about here... what route? do you have link or email or something that explains what this is? Huh

You mentioned earlier something about moving from "static" to "dynamic/change"? Huh
3580  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: ProtonMail black friday is on! on: November 18, 2019, 11:43:14 PM
captcha is very different from the other ones, and it is available.

He said that we needed email sms or donation. That's a big difference. Because all of those can easily be tracked back to you, while the captcha is not so easy (compared to SMS or fiat donation)
That's the point...

It seems that for some users... the "captcha" option is NOT showing up... so their only options are SMS or donation. As I have theorised, I believe that this is a geolocation or ip-range related issue. Indeed... after going via TOR... I see this:

Clicking the "Why is this required?" link shows this:

So... it does seem to be an "Evil IP"™ issue.
