361  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] SocialxBot | Next Gen Crypto-Bot | ICO ESCROW BY DEVDEV - LIVE on: September 19, 2014, 05:33:04 AM
when does the mining/POW phase end?

About 3 months later?

But price is very low despite current supply...

As long as most holders aren't coaxed into keeping their coins on bittrex and instead stake in their wallets or just send a few coins to friends and family through twitter,  POW should be done within 1.5 months.

This is nonsense.

The blocktime is one minute, the amount of people mining shouldn't alter that because diff will rise.

There is pretty much 10000 blocks left which will take 69 days to complete - so there is 69 days of PoW left.

Miners have left in their droves (diff is a quarter what it was) because it's not worth mining and the specs are putting 14400 new xbot per day onto the market.

The genuinely worrying thing should be the fact that xbot seems unable to bring in just over 2 BTC of fresh money per day - this is the amount needed to maintain the price at the current mining rate. I would have hoped that "the next big thing" would at least be able to maintain a significant mining community, but it seems not.

Where will the price be after 69 more days of this?

I guess you're the guy who says coin x price is collapsing because a whale is buying up the coin, when in fact the coin is dying.

It's interesting that you mention this. Has anyone checked the order book on Poloniex since the rebranding started? There are now over 150 BTC in bid walls for over 300k coins. That is close to 25-30% of total supply. I am assuming this is the first time there have ever been this many bid walls.

Looks like someone(s) is accumulating. Guess not everybody thinks the rebranding is a bad idea Smiley

If you're so confident, allow a fair and open vote.

Rune sucks.

I don't make the rules here. I'm just trying to help the team. If you want, PM me and lets talk over all your concerns.

You agree the vote isn't fair then?

Current name sounds like a specialty children's cereal.

Which are named to sound appealing..... so?

I guess you're within the target demographic then.

Don't be jealous, you'll get there too, when you grow up.

Tosser.

Boolberry stands out. Rune is open the dictionary and point at a word and get another name for 1 in 1000 altcoin.

If you are going to change the name, it needs to standout more than Rune.

Why not Bools? Keep continuity and shorten the name and discard the silly berries.

Or Boollars or BBollars.

I like Bools somewhat. The argument about dropping the berries make some sense. Boollars or BBollars are terrible.

www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Bool

However, it has allowed me to learn a new word..... buttbagging.  Shocked
367  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Unofficial Boolberry Namechange Poll (Keep boolberry is an option) on: September 18, 2014, 11:24:12 PM
When CZ decided on Boolberry, everyone was outraged because that wasn't even suggested before (it was a combination of two suggested names). The reason there is no option to keep Boolberry is because there has been four months of bashing "Boolberry".

My recollection is that he came up with the name. People complained and he offered the opportunity to suggest replacement names. He didn't like any of those names, so he kept Boolberry. I could be wrong, that is just from memory.

Quote
Now all the sudden people love that name.

My observation is that complaints about the name have gone away over time, especially once the price started going up. I don't think it is sudden at all.

He did come up with the name and I immediately liked it - everything about it was perfect for the target audience - which isn't "basement dwelling neckbeards" as someone hilariously put it.

I had a pm exchange with zoidberg at the time, as well as posting publicly, and like to think that I played some small part in resisting a change back then.

Rune is winning  Grin

Not on the fair, unmodded voting thread it isn't......

Rune    13 (31.7%)
Secore    3 (7.3%)
Vortex    2 (4.9%)
Boolberry    23 (56.1%)
370  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN] OFFICIAL VOTE for Boolberry (BBR) Renaming/Rebranding! on: September 18, 2014, 11:06:17 PM
It's a rigged vote and all the options are pathetic.

How gullible do you think we are? A modded voting thread is fucking ridiculous. Elections in North Korea have more legitimacy.

You won't be surprised to hear that I abstain.

"I just don't think most people would associate runes with that stuff. All of us here are "in the know" about nerdy things."

There are a lot of people outside of crypto who also know about nerdy things. Relying on people's ignorance is arrogant and dangerous.

"zoidberg, this is a sign of you being on the right track with the rebranding mate. "

Jesus, does this logical fallacy never die? I guess you're the guy who says coin x price is collapsing because a whale is buying up the coin, when in fact the coin is dying.

"SEO will be taken care of. It will not be an issue. In fact, if RUNE wins, it will be in so many press releases, blogs and and articles in the future that the serps will completely change."

What is the fucking point of changing the name to something that needs cash spending on SEO when the name you already have puts you at the top of google without any help at all. Oh, and SEO doesn't work, it's a massive con. I do know about marketing, it being a large part of my job.

"Actually it is broken. Perhaps you can explain to the community why BBR has 1/15 the market cap of XMR although it has better technology and development? "

It's at the lower price because the market is stupid and takes ages to catch up. If you think changing the name will change that, you are stupid too.

" who will buy my Rune dumps?"

Not me, I'll be dumping myself. The Boolberry name makes the coin stand apart from the crowd, Runes just sounds like another shit coin..... with SEO  Roll Eyes

When do other companies change their name? When they are in the shit.

Just concentrate on the tech, changing the name is so superficial that it detracts from the coin - lets take it seriously.

Also, your revulsion of "Rune" due to your subjective association of it with D&D and neckbeards says more about you than it does about the name itself.

This is an association that will haunt the coin for the rest of it's life.

I like "Rune". It's simple, easy to remember, and relatively easy to market. Also, I can imagine people actually using a cryptocurrency called "Rune" in the real world.

NO: "Your order comes to 4 Boolberries, ma'am."
YES: "Your order comes to 4 Runes, ma'am."

Google search:

RUNE = 11 million results.

Boolberry 32,400 - 95% relevant.

Lol, NeckBeardCoin, that would probably get voted in......  Roll Eyes

It good just to have a coin name that doesn't end in "coin" - separates us from wankcoin and all the other bullshit coins out there.

Hard to say, we just hope that new name and brand will help technology to spread wider.

How does changing a name help in this regard? If I find some shit and call it gold, is it not still shit?

Zoidberg, we've been here before - I implore you not to change the branding and just concentrate on the tech.

LOL... I find the whole name conversation boggling...

When I talk to (lay) people about Crypto, which is a lot, the quantum leap is to get them to think about transacting in anything that isn't fiat. It all seems strange and alien.

Once you get them to do that, and they 'kind-of-get-the-whole-Bitcoin-thing' - they automatically get the benefit of coins that cater for truly anonymous transactions.

The last thing we talk about is the name of anon coins... by that point, they are so far outside their normal spectrum of thinking, that you could call the coin (just about) anything you care to imagine.

They want to know what's the best coin(s). When I mention Boolberry (and I live in an English speaking country), they don't bat an eyelid.

The technology will stand on whether it delivers anonymity and whether it's secure. Then whether its fast and it's usable. Deliver that, you can call the coin pretty much what you wish (within reason  Wink ).

People are far more inspired when I draw analogies between the talent of CZ and that of a Steve Jobs or a Bill Gates. When I tell them, imagine if they had an opportunity to invest in a Microsoft or an Apple in the first few months of it's inception? Wouldn't they wish they took that opportunity?

They don't stop me mid sentence and say... "what did you say the name of that coin is again... couldn't possibly invest or transact in something called that!..."

So Rune or Boolberry, same difference. Just my experience on the ground...

I pretty much agree with your whole post, except Rune and Boolberry is not the same difference.

Boolberry is unique and has no connotations with sci-fi, mysticism or any other geek/hippy shit that automatically renders something as a bit of a joke.

Jesus, are we still flogging this dead horse?

Boolberry is perfect, I've said so from day one, it works brilliantly for google, is unique and friendly.

Just because some here think it should have a different name is no reason to change it. Some of the proposed names are just pretentious and too technical. We want this to work for the layman, not satisfy some small time investors wish to appear grandiose and out-of-reach.

This was settled ages ago, leave it alone.

Edit:

RUNE ?

For fucks sake, that's appalling.

Stop trying to be so clever, it puts people off.

Good point - oddball names work for tech companies. Maybe you should go start a boolberry search engine but I'm not going to pay you Googles for it since that sounds dumb.

tbh, I don't think paying someone in runes sounds any better/more legitimate than paying someone in boolberries, if anything it sounds stranger in my mind to say I'm going to pay someone in mystic characters rather than funny berries (wtf am I talking about Huh )

Paying in boolberries sounds like a lot more fun.

Edit:

So some say the name is too strange to invest in?

Their loss, tough shit.

Perhaps they would be better off doing the maths?
