361  Economy / Long-term offers / Re: -= RUSTYRYAN's DEPOSITS - PAYING 3.0% WEEKLY INTEREST =- on: August 04, 2012, 08:41:35 PM
Reminder:
The next weekly term starts in about 36 hours.
I will accept incoming deposits for the next week no later than Sunday 24:00 UTC (i.e. 5 PM PST), so please get deposits in before then.

Why are deposits tagged to a particular start time?  That doesn't make much sense.
362  Economy / Lending / Re: "Lending" sector fund on glbse ? on: August 04, 2012, 08:54:41 AM
there are several versions of this idea floating around - I really need to take a week off work (from my day job) and spend some time on this area and update some of the credit rating stuff and add in the "funds" that are operating.  I think next week might work as I should be past my current projects.
363  Economy / Securities / Re: [GLBSE] REBATE official thread on: August 03, 2012, 10:50:14 PM
I am tired of this bullshit both as a investor and as a middle man stuck in between this shit.
I will be talking to both parties and see if we can solve this so that everyone including the investors will get happy.
I will be pushing for a buy back as this is obviously not working out...
//DeaDTerra

DeadTerra, my unhappiness in this is not directed at you and I appreciate you're in a crappy situation as you note.
364  Economy / Securities / Re: Projected Dividends for PPT.DIV shares on: August 03, 2012, 10:47:56 PM
Long term yield on equity investments is supposed to be lower then the bond market. For Patrick buying all the shares sounds like a good deal though as he has no counter party risk by being the other party + he knows when/if the business will stop (The DIV shares will be worth zero whenever the business stops and have no claims on any capital).

Actually, one of the reasons I purchased the PPT.x business was to make sure it continued.  I have no intention of shutting it down.

GLBSE GLBSE ‏@GLBSE

trade:531@0.35:PPT.DIV:1343944773 8m
trade:185@0.36:PPT.DIV:1343944773 8m

Wowzers, now that's a dip. And less than a week after I had to buy back the shares I borrowed to short. Tongue

With a dividend of 0.02681571, that's a 7.45-7.66% return, better than Pirate!

Sshhhhhh

Must be up to PPT.A tomorrow - 3000 bonds up for grabs priced as low as 1.04 returning 1.28 in 28 days.

Pretty poor performance, irrespective of "issues".  Took a lot of money and not even an effort to advise on timings.

For information, I have decided against funding a loan to support the payback of the creditors here.  I believed that it would have been useful for the community to have this mess cleaned up, but my assessment of the risk to my funds (based on information released and not provided) would be too high.

If he gave you the information would you give him a loan? BitMan why not give the information you get the money in 180 days

It was not as simple as that (would be nice if it was).  He offered various verbal guarantees and provided some information about some of the resources he could use to back that up.  I don't understand why he isn't using those (and as it was provided via pm, it is not my place to comment on those here).  I also asked about having a parental acknowledgement and/or guarantee because, as is noted above, the guy is 17 which is currently the only thing I know about him.  The parent involvement was consistently a blank for whatever reason, and I understand that is his choice.  My choice was to step away from this because if I can't get these simple things sorted out easily, I don't need to be worrying about $4k for the next six months.

Any changes in the way it is run? PPT.DIV will still get their dividends based on profits?

Phil

The DIV shares will still get 100% of the profits, the contracts don't change.

The only thing I was planning was relaxing the timing of the buy-back and listing of bonds for sale (as there is less likelihood of exceeding 3000 per week).  So between 00:00 and 2:00 am UTC (my Saturday midday) the two will probably occur around the same time.

Announcement for information: Over the last couple of days I have purchased the PPT shares of the five other PPT founders.  Burt is facilitating the change over of the assets on GLBSE with a bit of manual intervention from Nefario.  Otherwise it's business as usual.

Why are they getting out?

There were several discussions and I provided them an opportunity to exit.  Frees up their capital if nothing else.

I know someone in Finland who might do some leg work for you.
375  Economy / Lending / Re: Want to invest 800BTC on: July 31, 2012, 08:56:42 PM
I found some deposit takers. Please help me decide.
Starfish BCB      4.4% monthly                              https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=61262.0

The maximum deposit for new accounts at Starfish BCB appears to be 100 BTC now if that helps your decision process any.

No, the maximum is still 2000.  It is simply that if you want to add more than 100, I would appreciate your letting me know.
376  Economy / Long-term offers / Re: Starfish BCB - Loans and Deposits (deposit rate 1.0%/week from 1 August) on: July 31, 2012, 08:40:39 PM
new accounts are also welcome, as is catering for the range of existing customers

I don't understand what that means.  Are you simply saying that customers who currently have more than 100 BTC on deposit can keep it on deposit but not increase the amount?
If you have less than 100 BTC on deposit, you can increase your deposit up to 100 BTC by using the same address you were already given. No need to check in--just do it.

If you have more than 100 BTC already on deposit, you will need to check with PatrickHarnett first.

What they said.

Part of the thinking behind Starfish is that:
1) It provides people wanting to park a few coins somewhere they can do that without too much trouble.
2) It recognises that existing customers are valued and where possible additional large deposits will be taken ahead of new accounts wanting to deposit large sums.
3) Gives a reasonable allowance for people up to the current limit of 2000 coins per account.

Not all of the deposit business is profitable (or not as profitable as I would like), therefore a portion of it is more like a "service" where I don't expect a return.

Mixmastermine has been a good customer since March 2012.  I'll send him the CR metric information tomorrow.

Hmm, well I haven't heard from TheBitMan the last 24 hours, and this is an unexpected development.
379  Economy / Long-term offers / Re: Starfish BCB - Loans and Deposits (deposit rate 1.0%/week from 1 August) on: July 30, 2012, 04:46:41 AM
Just as a note, I have been considering the evolution of the bitcoin economics (particularly via this forum) and have decided to set a hard-limit on deposits at 20,000.

This means that those under 100BTC balance are still fine to load their accounts to 100 BTC without pm'ing first, and new accounts are also welcome, as is catering for the range of existing customers.  Compounding may take me over the planned max, and that is ok.

Should circumstances change, I will advise.
380  Economy / Lending / Re: Bryan Micon's List of BTC Ponzi Schemes that should not be listed as "Lending" on: July 30, 2012, 04:42:46 AM
Hey Micon, it was entertaining over the weekend, but I have real work to do in this small microcosm of bitcoin lending.  I'm going to have to leave you to your crusade.
