Neither CGB nor MEC bring anything new to the space or have any sort of real serious innovation.

Neither did LTC, PPC, or NMC.

That's just not true. If you're going to talk about alt coins having any major differences, designs or innovations, PPC and to a lesser extent NMC both fit that description as accurately as it comes.

Your next two established coins would be Peercoin (PPC) and Namecoin (NMC). The list goes on from there.

364  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [PPC] Peercoin Weekly Newsletter Issue #3 on: November 15, 2013, 04:54:39 PM
Yes, I'd rather invest in a coin where the developer or development team remains anonymous so there is no chance somebody will go after them. Just imagine Litecoin shooting up in value to threaten Bitcoins's reign. If that happens the developers will have enemies in governments as well as Bitcoin supporters. Sunny King and Satoshi have nothing to worry about right now because of their anonymity.

I think PeercoinEthusiast said it best "In code and community we trust".

Anyone who's been following PPC and Sunny King know the code checks out and the whole project is legitimate. And while there's probably advantages and disadvantages on both sides of having the head developer anonymous vs. known, personally I can dig Sunny's elusive/mysterious path, but that's just me  Wink

Thanks for putting in the effort. Long live peps.

I've brought this up a few times on here, even in the main BTC forum.....my thread got closed before I even got started.

Everyone just says "buy a bigger HD" and doesn't seem to get the point or understand the real problems behind processing at Visa type scales.

Point is, turn your BitCoin client off for a week, then load it up, it'll take you at least 10 mins to sync even on the fastest connection with a beasty PC....

BitCoin is averaging what?  60k transactions a DAY, a week is 420k transactions and it takes 10mins to sync, VISA does as you rightly say 100k a second at peak.....HELLO!??!??!?

I gave up trying to point out the issues when everyone is obviously a lot smarter and has much more experience with high volume, low latency systems than me and my lowly resume, even though I worked on these types of financial systems for 4 years.

Lol, it's not you, it's them.

People here, in general, are clueless and they tend to drink the Roger Ver Koolaid and they just repeat anything they hear in the media about Bitcoin.  The positive things that is, which are starting to accelerate just as I also said it would.  In the next few months the media frenzy will begin to get frothy.

I just wish I could figure out what will cause Bitcoin to suddenly die or what will give rise to another really big crypto, as big as Bitcoin or close to it.

Cause I can think of geo-political reasons, competitive reasons from banks, corporations and the govt or maybe even an unexpected design flaw in Bitcoin, but in such a case, ixCoin would also have the same flaw since it's a near exact clone.

Hard to say.

Well there are 3 ways to success

1.  Be First
2.  Be Better
3.  Bullshit

Bitcoin was first, so it will quite rightly be a success, whatever yardstick you use is up to you, but, it has major holes in it and no one around here seems willing to admit that.

Furthermore, NONE of the alt's that use the Satoshi codebase will de-thrown it, I don't care what fancy POW or POS you use, or novelty features you add, because at the foundation, you have the exact same holes in the system as BitCoin.  You might find success for a while, but any ALT will always be #2 to BitCoin, and eventually it will suffer the same problems and die.

What about Peercoin? It has a fixed .01 transaction fee specifically designed to lower transaction spam.

PeerCoin?

Oh, you mean PeePeeCoin (PPcoin)?

Need I say more?

Techies often have zero imagination which is why the Woz was saved by the Jobs.

I see. For some reason I thought you might give a reasonable, intelligent answer instead of act like a douche.

Yup, BTC-E did a great job. I applaud them.

So do you go around giving high fives to kids to kick puppies in the face in real life too? Do you like to put on a little costume and pretend to be a super villain? In other words, do you like to live life as a major giant Mcdouche?
368  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: BTC-E FTC Delisting Scam on: November 14, 2013, 08:06:56 AM
Haha, good on them.

Really?

Greedy enough to scam?
Most likely, yes.

I don't think so.
371  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: FTC and TRC getting removed from btce -- which currency will replace them? on: November 14, 2013, 05:02:49 AM
Greedy btc-e admins pulling this pump and dump with FTC.
Every man is greedy.

Greedy enough to scam?
372  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / So what just happened with BTC-E and FTC? Ultra scam? on: November 14, 2013, 02:45:10 AM
https://btc-e.com/news/185

I'm just curious. For those who don't know, they had news saying FTC was going to be removed.. FTC prices crashed 57%.. then they come back and say it's not going to be removed. Looks like quite  a few people lost money. Did anyone see how long it was between them saying it was to be removed and then not? Were they bribed to not delist it? Were they blackmailing FTC? Was it an honest mistake?!!?

373  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: FTC and TRC getting removed from btce -- which currency will replace them? on: November 13, 2013, 11:09:08 PM
It seems FTC and trc are getting removed, i wonder which coins they will replace them with if any?

What makes you think they'll get removed?

Awh fuck, admin posted the new already hehe... was gonna post about it the other day when admin told me, but he said no. So... :|

I don't really understand why they'd be removing coins at this point. If I were them I'd be trying to add support for as many coins as possible to compete with cryptsy, coinex .. etc.
It's called dilution. If you have all these shitty coins on your exchange, no one is going to take you seriously.

Good riddance to both coins I say. Nothing of value was lost.

I haven't even heard of anyone MENTION TRC in awhile. FTC though, there's gonna be tears Sad
376  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: FTC and TRC getting removed from btce -- which currency will replace them? on: November 13, 2013, 10:41:39 PM
Ugh, what a hit to FTC that is...  Shocked

Hopefully WDC and DGC, I'm invested in those two  Grin

Nah...FTC is solid... and btc-e doesn't represent the 'standard'.  Just means they sold their investment in FTC and will be looking for a replacement.

Why is everyone so sure they will add new ones?

Because they make money from people trading coins. They don't need to add anything immediately just as they didn't after removing CHN but if they see that some coin is popular and is traded a lot on other exchanges they'll add it, just as they did with XPM.

Btw, on a day when CHN was delisted in first news article two other coins were mentioned but it was removed from original article in a minute. Many people in trollbox were saying those two were ftc and trc so they probably planned this for some time.
My real question is why do they think that FTC gone = new coins. They can add new coins whenever.

379  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [POLL] [PPC] When will Peercoin reach dollar parity? on: November 13, 2013, 10:12:39 PM
whatever the price in the near future, ppc has come a long way for a 1 year old coin.

i believe this coin has a great future.

That it has.

Version .4 is coming pretty soon too  Grin
380  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [POLL] [PPC] When will Peercoin reach dollar parity? on: November 13, 2013, 02:47:34 PM
The whole market is just so volatile it's so hard to say. It will hit a 1$ at some point though; that's for sure.
