...and after a solid 12 hours or so of awesome silence the posts are back haha

My hashrate has been stable (it varies more by the hour than 512 diff, however, averaged across the day, is very accurate), my rejects low, and payout better than what Coinwarz calculates again, so I'm going to let H2O continue to do what he does best. Reading page after page of this (mostly) crap isn't worth his time... not surprised he removed this thread from the MiddleCoin site.

1024 Difficulty doesn't pose any problems unless your config is wrong, or you are a slow miner and getting really unlucky with your shares. What it has done is reduce server load and bring about better stability. I've been getting around 0.013 BTC per MH/s the past two days after making sure my config is correct, which I'll gladly take.

If you are having trouble with the pool then try another and see if the problem is with your equipment or the pool. If your settings work fine on another pool, however, not here, you are still probably still doing something wrong (with regard to 1024 diff), or using the wrong server. Depending on your latency, you will have to find out which works best for you. If you have multiple rigs, set them to different servers for a few days and compare payouts per MH/s (or KH/s)

Also, though it should be obvious, most of us are here for the money... if that means crushing a (probably junk anyway) coin or two then I think most of us are fine with that. There are already WAY too many terrible coins out there, and having so many threatens the legitimacy of the few that have proven (through popular acceptance/great dev teams/solid marketing) that they deserve to be here. If we can kill off junk coins and make money on it, I think that's a bonus. Many serious miners have invested 10k or more in mining equipment - they want an ROI above all else

On startup or while it was running? If it's "only" a VRAM ripple capacitor that blew, then you might be able to still run the card fine :]
On topic - Payout looks to be good today (or at least in-line with current exchange rates), however, my rejects have been up quite a bit in the past 12 hours or so...
I don't see too many others around me with similar issues, so most likely it's a latency thing
Edit: and now they're trending back down... guess the issue resolved iteself

The computer shut down. Then sparks flew when I started it.
Yup, sounds like you blew one or more caps on startup. If you have a Gigabyte card and only one cap blew, there's a good chance the card will probably still work. I have 2 or 3 cards like this now, and they are still hashing fine. Poor design means the back of the PCB in this area can reach 100C+ very easily, ultimately leading to what you experienced.

OT: Payout looks decent today... long live DOGE :]

The payouts seems to be good for today Smiley

However we lost a 9 days old 280X today with sparks flying from it. Not overclocked or voltmodded, just running completely stock. So we have to hope for a RMA Sad

Something else...

Useast (possibly others, haven't tested) started acting up this evening. Share submission will randomly stall out on a rig here and there. Sometimes again and again pretty rapidly.

Hashrate as reported by the server down 25%. I assume due to constant rebooting after x minutes of no shares (via cgwatcher.)
I haven't had a rig hard-stall yet (fingers crossed), however, I have noticed rejects have increased and hashrate has dropped around 10%

I'm also getting work restarts every few minutes. Hopefully it gets sorted out soon
385  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] profit switching auto-exchanging pool - middlecoin.com on: January 18, 2014, 08:06:17 AM
Yes, the difficulty has increased, however, $6.00 to $6.50 is what I made per MH on DOGE yesterday :]  If you have 10MH, then that's a profit of $60-65 USD per day... The reason I bring it up is because there was a time only a few weeks ago when each rig was making over $40 a day... now they are down to around $17-$19 each

If you compare the payouts (per MH/s) the past few days to what they were just a few weeks ago, people say "Crap" "H2O is cheating us" etc, however, the reality is altcoin prices went down when BTC corrected last month, however, they have been much slower to recover (if at all) vs BTC.

None of us are tied to the pool (other than the operator) and many of us are constantly looking for a better option, as we want to put our MH to the best use, however, the recent "crap" pay isn't the fault of the pool so much as it's the fault of Altcoin/BTC exchange rates not being where they were. Now, if we are mining LTC when DOGE is more profitable, then that's the fault of the pool, however, so many people are quick to blame H2O when in actuality they should be looking into why the exchange rates didn't recover...
386  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] profit switching auto-exchanging pool - middlecoin.com on: January 18, 2014, 07:17:25 AM
not all alts; dogecoin just passed primecoin.
Agreed, however, for most of the mining day yesterday, the price for DOGE equated to only $6.00 to $6.50 profit per MH/day (depending on your power costs) A few weeks ago it was over $15 profit for the same hashing power. I'll still gladly take $6.50 per MH... it's still profit, however, those first few days of DOGE were so crazy here haha
387  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] profit switching auto-exchanging pool - middlecoin.com on: January 18, 2014, 06:40:29 AM
Surprised no one mentioned it. Not only did today's payout NOT makeup for yesterday's bullshit, but it was yet again lower than normal.

That's because the price of alts fell again Sad

Liking what I think I'm seeing. If this is what I think it is  Grin  Very nice H20, been waiting for this a long time.

Can you be more crypticWink

One? of the cutoffs seems to be around 2mh/s  Cool

Not sure what do you mean by that.

Doubt he knows either.

I do not.

This is just priceless.
It was indeed...a false alarm... haha
389  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] profit switching auto-exchanging pool - middlecoin.com on: January 17, 2014, 11:15:51 PM
Probably means PowerTune +10 instead of +20 (I think)

290's are a little weird to configure... one of my XFX's won't run on anything other than 947 (stock clock) lol... It also drops off BAMT 1.2 every once in a while, however, it doesn't affect shares so I don't really care.

390  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] profit switching auto-exchanging pool - middlecoin.com on: January 17, 2014, 08:46:10 PM
can you post a screenshot of cgminer?
do you monitor your hashrate at middlecoin or on the rigs?
try mining on a new adress from this rig only

Still at work, so nothing has changed on my rigs, yet now my hashrate is above 6.1mh/s again with 3% rejects. Has to be server side...

Or you finally realize that there's a certain element of "luck" to mining.
While I don't think luck alone would contribute to such a dramatic change, I think most of us notice quite a bit more variability in our hashrates since going to 1024 diff

Earlier today I was "mining" above my actual hash rate through "getting lucky", however, now I'm under where I should be.  All my cards are still running fine and no network issues... just haven't gotten as many accepted shares in the past few hours.

If you average it out over the course of a day or longer, you should be very close to what your WU's are... if that's not the case then it's a hardware, network, or server issue
391  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] profit switching auto-exchanging pool - middlecoin.com on: January 17, 2014, 08:09:18 PM
Profitability of mining scrypt has dropped considerably from where it was in early to mid December, however, as long as you have cheap (or free) power, you'll probably make ROI within a few months.

Of course, with the variability of the markets, profit changes day by day, however, in my opinion, investing in hardware still isn't a bad deal, as the components still have a value in their utility to others (for gaming/rendering/etc) even IF scrypt mining was no longer profitable.

That said, know that the price of the hardware would probably drop by 35-50% or so if that were to occur... 7950's were going for around $180-200 as recent as early November... and 280x's are only supposed to retail for $300 new (not counting ones with custom cooling solutions)

Just remember to set aside money for your power bill if you do invest in hardware :p Nothing like waking up and realizing (even at $0.085 per KW/h) you owe $450 haha

Hey guys, is my rejects rate normal?

cgminer version 3.7.2 - Started: [2014-01-16 22:28:01]

Smiley
Sweet :]  Probably a combination of fast cards and low latency connection. I'm getting 2.5-3% rejects on USEast (7950/7970/280x/290) so far vs 5-6% on USWest, however, you are doing way better than that haha
393  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] profit switching auto-exchanging pool - middlecoin.com on: January 17, 2014, 04:41:28 AM
I've only ever tried us servers.  Using useast my return was almost 100% higher.  Set west as my backup and haven't looked back.  The only stability issues I've seen have been on my end and the stats server which effects everyone.

My test findings with running 2 matched rigs, one on west and one on east, both with new addresses, concur with these findings. I actually swapped the remaining rigs over to east after about 3 hours, the difference was that obvious.

Final payouts for the 24 hour test period, east was ~120% higher than west.

So basically i've been getting less than half of what I could have been since the new beta servers were released.

That kinda pisses me off a little, that the default server is so much worse, and equals a fair amount of income down the drain.
Thanks for doing that, I was hoping with all the stat BS that you didn't abandon the quest to compare.  When the difference you could have been making was on the order of 0.05-0.1 BTC a day or so, it really sucks haha.  I've switched my rigs over as well... let's see what tomorrow brings.

I'm especially interested in comparing the reject rates, as my USEast ping is quite a bit lower (makes sense as I'm only a state away from the server vs many)
394  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] profit switching auto-exchanging pool - middlecoin.com on: January 17, 2014, 04:07:44 AM
My imprecise results since the last payout...two different addresses used.

middlecoin = 0.005286 BTC/Mh/s   (about 2.23 Mh/s)
useast =  0.005322 BTC/Mh/s  (about 2.03 Mh/s)

I'll continue to monitor.  Periodic checks throughout the day showed that both pools were mining the same network.
Ok, then the difference must be in the exchanging. Time to move my rigs over, with the "main" as my backup... The difference MH for MH is substantial from what I can see so far... at least 25% increase
395  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] profit switching auto-exchanging pool - middlecoin.com on: January 17, 2014, 03:11:11 AM
Could some please explain me slooooooowly why do people with the same hashrate gets very different payouts?
That's what we were trying to figure out yesterday too. Hopefully a member running tests will be able to report back what he learned so far.

A person mining with 18.5 MH today received 0.14614399 at a rate of 0.00789 BTC/MH/s paid

Another person with a rate of 11 MH received 0.064 at a rate of 0.00582 BTC/MH/s

This is a substantial difference for two miners who mined the same time period with very consistent hashrates.

The thinking right now is the higher-paid miner is the newer one, and is probably on a "Beta" server, while the older lower-paid miner is on the "main" middlecoin server. This would in turn mean the servers are not mining the same coin, or are being exchanged in different ways or at different times.

The hashrates were both consistent throughout the day, and I'm looking at accepted... not accepted + rejected

If anyone has any other ideas (other than they are on different pools / the conspiracy that older miners are getting funds siphoned off the top) I'd love to hear it
396  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] profit switching auto-exchanging pool - middlecoin.com on: January 16, 2014, 10:58:04 PM
This pool is 6x the size of hashcows, yet fails to provide as much option as them, at higher fees, and without poor quality hosting. Seems to me like someone might not have any motivation to upgrade or lower his fees until shit hits the fan or we bail.

To be fair... one of the reasons Hashco.ws is so much smaller is because they so epically failed a few weeks back when an internal hole allowed one person to change the withdrawal address of almost every miner...
397  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] profit switching auto-exchanging pool - middlecoin.com on: January 16, 2014, 10:14:20 PM
“@middlecoinpool: We're now using a difficulty of 1024.”
...before anyone complains... this WON'T significantly decrease your earnings, however, it WILL increase short-term variability

398  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: official scammer request: tealover on: January 16, 2014, 07:19:32 PM
im completely confused.

can someone please provide a complete history/story?

all i see are links to a video card sale valued at $60. how the hell did he scam you for 0.49BTC ($400) on a $60 video card?
Because this thread was months old until it was recently bumped. That's what BTC was worth back then :-]
399  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] profit switching auto-exchanging pool - middlecoin.com on: January 16, 2014, 06:17:13 PM
guys i think something is happen today

what does this mean?

From the official twitter :

"Middlecoin ‏@middlecoinpool 3h

The pool should be running smoothly now, but the database has a lot of catching up to do. Could be hours before another stats update."

ah i see that will be updated okey. actually i can wait lol.

im worried about my rigs if something went rig about graphic cards.
If you live close to where your rigs are, it is not a bad idea to check when something like this happens. Sometimes if the pool goes down your miners can get confused and fail to start back up.

Usually setting a backup pool or two solves the issue, however, I have still seen it happen once or twice.

Using teamviewer (or a similar application) is a great way to easily check if your rigs are hashing correctly or not remotely.

That said, everything was running fine for me today (other than the frozen graphs) so you should be fine too :]

I'm very curious as to what you discover :]

As long as your WU numbers are fairly close (within a percent or two) then it shouldn't make a big difference.

In the two "test" subjects from the other page, the payout discrepancy was much greater than a percent or two.
