+1, finally. I already feared this would become another one of those blockless days.

YEP, difficulty attacks the rate for everyone ...

We (Europe, or infact UK) need a trade agreement with China like the USA has - no import tax... If I was USA I could buy more kit cheaper - how is that fair?
Today I paid £680 ($1155.17, EUR 850.42) for 3 S2's - import tax...

That's £226 each ... cheaper than me last week ... true UK needs an agreement ... not sure that bitcointalk.org might get that on the Government agenda, lol.

And ... there is the catch ... First batch S3 buyers don't know what to expect in import duties ... so you wait to see if the forum gives you an idea .... and by then they've sold out Batch 1.

Happy speculating and mining everyone ...

So to sum it up - the price is bound to be disappointing - but we will pay it at all costs...

LOL, your comment made me laugh  Cheesy

Hysteria seems to be building ... let's all see what the price point is ... and how the reliability is ... but it does look like a 'super cloned' S1, a miner that has been quite simply bullet proof for Bitmain.

384  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - Best W/GH/s ratio, Best $/GH/s ratio on: June 18, 2014, 09:19:24 PM
Thanks for the Info, Just done my Sums for UK import duty.

(a)£530 pounds Import duty.

(b)£131 for a KW/m(month) at 0.16 Pence a KW/h

(c)£297 to £321 (2500w to 2700w) a Month in power usage

So 6 Month of usage in the UK  . Worst case  a+(6xc)=£2456  (current dollar conversion $4164).

Cost to Host with Setup and Shipping $1750.

Saving $2414  or £1423.

Answer is Hosting all the Way.

C_C

Interesting C_C, I also am trying to work out the best way to resolve/work out the hosting 'issue'.

385  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANN: BITMAIN has Tested Its 28nm Bitcoin Mining Chip BM1382 on: June 18, 2014, 08:49:50 PM
They will get to a point when the old chips are all used up ... will the S2 return? Maybe/maybe not ... they will want to focus on the new chip design to power S3's, maybe an S4 ... and all those upgrades to the S1 and S2.

Quite neat really ... offering the option to revitalize your old hardware... not sure anyone in the BTC world has done this before.

386  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANN: BITMAIN has Tested Its 28nm Bitcoin Mining Chip BM1382 on: June 18, 2014, 08:32:33 PM
guys, in your calculation i'm not seeing any reference of a customs fee, that in this case is a pain in the ass for a decent ROI. At least let's check that bitmain is declaring low values (like the amazing 120 USD computer gaming gateway Cheesy )

True ... last S2 I received was quoted as a 'Bitcoin Miner' ... well OK ... it is ... but please don't advertise the fact to UK Customs so they can have a little fun with their charges. The one before was a 'Computer Gateway', and cost me £125 less in fees!

All that said ... the S3 will be available way quicker than I thought it might ... will be interesting to see their pricing, how the upgrades work etc ...

387  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: BITMAIN Antminer support and OverClocking thread on: June 15, 2014, 10:16:59 PM
1. Even at clock speed the miner gives 0.3% HW Error in my other ants it 0%

I have owned many Ants ... and everyone was different .... 0.3% is acceptable in my book ... keep mining ... over 1% and you should get itchy.
388  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: June 15, 2014, 10:10:45 PM
I can't wait to see the reaction of new Neptune owner's (and SP30) on how big these rigs are physically and how much heat really pours out of them.

Too true, the future of mining is DC hosting or similar ... 12 months from now the landscape will be very different.

389  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: AntMiner S2 1TH/s Miner Batch 4, sales price changes daily, now $2226 per unit on: June 14, 2014, 09:34:19 PM
Looks like Bitmain are doing better with the shipping issues at last ... received an S2 yesterday ... and that holding plate over the blades did the trick. Hashed straight out of the box. However, later I noticed that the intake fan for the PSU wasn't working ... investigation showed the connector had come away from the board. Now the holding plate is a good idea ... but there were a lot of screws to remove just to plug it back in!

390  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [CLOSED] Spondoolies-Tech SP30 pre-order - Specs: 0.69$/GH + 0.46W/GH on: June 14, 2014, 09:25:36 PM
Looks like emails are going out whether us Group Buy folk would like shipping to us, or hosting in their data center. Check em!

Not received mine yet ... on the face of it, DC looks the way forward, but it would be REAL NICE to receive at least one SP30 ... just so I can see it in the flesh. Maxed out now and an electric bill from hell ... in the UK.

So ... to completely change the subject ... nice to see those VERY outdated KNC adverts on the site have been resold ... to ... Spondoolies-Tech.

392  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - Best W/GH/s ratio, Best $/GH/s ratio on: June 11, 2014, 10:11:20 PM
+10 for Sponds:

OK ... so I have x2 SP10s ... and one was behaving below spec ... I have to say, the support from Spondoolies was exemplary.

Remo and Zvisha reacted VERY quickly to emails, gave good advice and online support ... and now my below average SP10 has become the quickest of the two!

Never before have I seen such dedication to a product, and dedication to the customer before in the BTC world.

Rock!

... Just wish I'd ordered some more SP30s in the GB ... OH WELL!

393  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - Best W/GH/s ratio, Best $/GH/s ratio on: June 10, 2014, 10:23:40 PM
Can spondoolies-tech confirm some sort of partnership with CBCM?

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=647360.0

I doubt it ... such newbies would surely be announced by Sponds.

12,301 TH/s  the 11's just got crushed Shocked
So much for 12's....at 13186TH/s now!

Quite a few pools are REALLY increasing their fire power ... the hash rate is growing right now!

395  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [1000 TH] BitMinter.com [1% PPLNS,Pays TxFees +MergedMining,Stratum,GBT,vardiff] on: May 31, 2014, 09:03:57 PM
1125Thps right now ... I know the overall hash rate like all pools goes up and down ... not seen it that high before  Shocked

EDIT: 1155 now.
396  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: AntMiner S2 1TH/s Kit Sales Open, official sales price $2260 per Kit on: May 31, 2014, 08:28:06 PM
This is odd ... Bitmain are treading water I think ... my first thought was that maybe the amount of RMAs on the S2 might have made them have a re-think ... the new 'kit' will ship without any 'fallout' problems.

Something new must be on the horizon ... we wait and see ... 28nm may well be here ...

Meanwhile Spondoolies will clean up, and a mighty fine miner the SP10 is too!

397  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [1000 TH] BitMinter.com [1% PPLNS,Pays TxFees +MergedMining,Stratum,GBT,vardiff] on: May 29, 2014, 09:31:38 PM
No,no,no...fox has real shitty wireless internet in his area, I was on teamspeak with him when he disappeared...a big storm ripped through here last night too, headed out his way too.  Wife just told me we have another big storm rolling in here too, Im going to have to shut down too.

Take care !

Sure take care. hope no one comes to harm ... just find it amazing that kind of firepower runs on WiFi .. great stuff!

398  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [10000 TH] BTC Guild - Pays TxFees+NMC, Stratum, VarDiff, Private Servers on: May 29, 2014, 09:27:59 PM
Time to change the thread title to 11000TH? Cheesy

I generally wait a few days before updating the thread title.  It's not like it means much Smiley.

As the financial ads say ... the value of your investment can go UP as well as DOWN ... pool speeds are notorious for that ...

399  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - Best W/GH/s ratio - Shipping from stock on: May 28, 2014, 09:07:55 PM
Hi all.
In the latest FW you have a new cool and useless feature:
If you type %i or %h in the pool user field in the webUI, the miner will replace it with the IP or Hostname respectively.
So, if you are using Eligeus for example, you set yourwallet_%i, and you see the hash breakdown rate in the pool by the IP, and if some miner gives you too little hash you can know who it is.

How cool is that?  Wink

zvisha, you asked a question ... the answer is ... really quite cool.

I really like the way you and the Spondoolies team constantly innovate and push development forward ... thank you!

I've had two SP10s for a few weeks now, and I think that's 3 (or 2?) firmware updates in that time.

Keep it up.

2) I heard the FANS of SP30 today, and it is really quiet compared to SP10. Low pitch and way lower volume. Would not put it in my bedroom still, but you almost don`t hear it from the next room - and that is in `turbo` mode. But maybe it's just me going deaf from sitting in a room with 6 SP10s.

zvisha,

Thanks for that info, will be interesting to see if you can tweak it over the weeks ... are the fans in the SP30 PWM controlled?

I'll also check out the new firmware, must say that my SP10s are coping well in quite warm conditions at present ... but loud ... one unit just seems to resonate and make vibrating noises.

Yes, they are PWM controlled. I see that the noise issue is by far the most problematic issue of SP10, I don't expect it will a problem at all in SP30. We will still provide ways to control the FAN level, but I don't think people will have a problem with the turbo mode in SP30 even in house.

Such a quick reply ... Thank you.

>> but I don't think people will have a problem with the turbo mode in SP30 even in house.

Music to our ears I'm sure ... looking forward to future updates.
