381  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: How can I obtain Bitcoin test coins? on: March 03, 2024, 08:34:07 AM
Can I mine test coins? I have some mining machines.

You can, check these guides
[Guide] Solo mine testnet bitcoins with bfgminer, Bitcoin Core, and a CPU/GPU (i personally tried this guide with good result).
[Guide] Solo mine testnet bitcoins with cgminer, Bitcoin Core, and a Compac F

You also can use mining pool for testnet coin if you don't want to run your own node, but i don't know which pool for testnet coin still alive today.
382  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: myNode support on Telegram. Is it awful ? on: March 03, 2024, 08:29:06 AM
That telegram link isn't mentioned on https://mynodebtc.com/support, so it's fake support.
Actually, it is mentioned. See image: https://ibb.co/ncdghzc

That is one more argument to make me doubtful. If the official web support page mention this Telegram link, then one more reason to believe it should be legitimate.   Oh! furthermore, I now remember that the suspicious guy who ask to enter my the details about my wallet, his name was listed on the right panel on the Telegram app. where, supposedly all officials of the myNode channel support team have their name listed. That is really weird.

I haven't conducted my second attempt yet. But I will post the results here when done.

Thanks for the correction, should've checked all links mentioned on that page. Now i wonder whether possibility of either the website or that telegram group got hacked without myNode team noticing it.

But you, OP, didn't describe in detail what kind of an issue you have with your mynode.

He did that on this thread, https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5487085.0.
383  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: How do you recover BTC from a multi-signature wallet? [BTC TIP$ FOR HELP] on: March 02, 2024, 10:34:24 AM
BACKSTORY

I was using Guarda as my wallet for my BTC. I was using their multi-signature BTC wallet with my friend; 2of2, meaning I needed 2 signatures in order to send out my BTC (i.e we both need to sign it for us to be able to withdraw). For the last 3 months, there was a bug with specifically the BTC multi-sig wallets, in that whenever you create a transaction, the other person would not see it, hence unable to sign it, meaning your BTC was stuck with no other way to withdraw it. Guarda staff constantly said "they're working on a fix" with no other explanation, and after 3 months of the same response, I got fed up with waiting and did my own research. Here is the solution to how I successfully withdrew my BTC from Guarda, without actually using Guarda itself, despite it being a multi-signature wallet. I hope this helps someone who may be stuck in a similar position to me in the future!

--snip--

STEP 3: Create your TRANSACTION https://i.imgur.com/cBq282f.png

I got 404 when accessing this image.

Figure out what you want the fee to be (make sure it's large enough to get confirmed on the first block). This is if you are sending the ENTIRE BALANCE ONLY. So if you are sending 0.2 BTC, and that's your entire balance, do like 0.197 BTC and keep 0.003 as the fee (for example).

For advance or very experienced user those who bother calculate total input and output (along with it's type) on transaction will be created, they could use
1. Use https://bitcoinops.org/en/tools/calc-size/ or https://jlopp.github.io/bitcoin-transaction-size-calculator/ to get transaction size.
2. Use https://mempool.space/ to choose fee rate.
3. Multiply chosen fee rate with their transaction size (in vB/vBytes unit) to determine the TX fee.
384  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: myNode support on Telegram. Is it awful ? on: March 02, 2024, 10:17:33 AM
I've seen you also ask help for BTC RPC Explorer, where no one able to solve the problem so far. At this point, you probably want to try something else (e.g. Umbrel) or setup everything by yourself.

Is this the telegram you have ask for support?. https://t.me/mynode_btc
That is the Telegram channel in question. Surprisingly it looks so legitimate. I'm not sure what to think anymore.

That telegram link isn't mentioned on https://mynodebtc.com/support, so it's fake support.
385  Local / Bahasa Indonesia (Indonesian) / Re: [Diskusi] Tahun 2009 wallet BTC menggunakan apa?? on: March 02, 2024, 10:07:33 AM
Menggunakan program wallet dengan nama "Bitcoin" (sekarang memiliki nama "Bitcoin Core") yang dibuat oleh Satoshi.
386  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Excessive Bitcoin fees on: March 02, 2024, 10:03:29 AM

I don’t find anyone to really do anything for free especially, when it’s going to cost them something to do it. Miners gets to procure these devices to enable them mine and get the rewards that follow, they spend on energy too used by these devices that have pushed environmentalist to take interest on energy used by mining and so, having any hope that these shouldn’t be subsidized from fees is a mistaken idea.

Yeah, usually there's string when someone do something for free. For example, ViaBTC offer free acceleration service in order to promote their pool and paid acceleration service.

While the model of high fees would not be acceptable, it tends to persist only for a period of time and that in itself is acceptable. In a way, it discourages users from making more and more transactions which would in turn result in scarcity and that is good for the system I think.

I disagree, it'd also discourage people from using Bitcoin as currency or payment method.
387  Economy / Reputation / Re: Users who spread false/fake/unhelpful information on technical board on: March 02, 2024, 09:59:24 AM
I'm trying to find this guy as surely someone posted about him here already but no dice yet, will keep looking but..Anyone remember that one user who had that bald headed weird looking guy as his forum avatar who used to be the king of doing this, maybe 5-6 years back..I mean it was all day, every day..I can't remember his name but he was maybe up there with "The one above all" (which I'm also forgetting his orig forum name, as I think TOAA was his 3rd-5th alt or so..hard to keep up).  Those two were so deranged I almost miss them, and miss Tman going at them, who was equally loony just in a diff way, though a former friend (when he was thought to be trustworthily ..smh).

I think you refer to https://ninjastic.space/user/The-One-Above-All, although it doesn't seem he used to post on technical board. Anyway, if you need to look for certain user, you might want to use https://bpip.org/ search feature or list of banned username on http://loyce.club/.

--snip--

This is what his posts look like w/o ChatGPT... Ay yayay. Sad to say it but a decent % of users shouldn't be posting on this forum at all. I just can't believe how incredibly low the bar is for getting accepted into a sig campaign here (granted the aforementioned offender was not yet in a campaign). Campaign managers should really set higher standards so we don't have to read the barrage of nonsense that comes from their campaigners, and so those that aren't interested in writing anything remotely interesting don't even bother trying.

Or enforce this again with higher standard.

Quote
Campaign Operators:

Signature Campaigns are a great way to introduce your business and advertise your services to the bitcoin ecosystem but this cannot be abused by you paying people to make poor contributions en masse. As a signature campaign operator you will ultimately be held responsible for the quality of posts of users bearing your signature advertisement and you will need to monitor your users closely or it will be quickly abused. If you are running a campaign and it becomes blatantly obvious to Staff that you are doing little to nothing to stop spam on your campaign you will be issued a PM warning by a Global Moderator that you need to make immediate improvements to curb low-quality posts. You will have 7 days to remove low-quality posters and respond to the message detailing what you are going to do to make changes to your campaign to reduce the amount of spam. If improvements are not noticeable within 21 days of that and Staff do not believe you are doing enough to prevent low quality posts your signatures will be blacklisted from the forum by an Admin and you will no longer be permitted to advertise here in such a way. The Staff and Admins do not want to have to do this but it's a last resort in an attempt to clean up the forum as signature campaigns cannot continue to operate here in such a lazy way as it is not fair that others have to go through pages of drivel to find anything of substance nor should Staff be left to clean up the mess you are paying people to make.

388  Other / Meta / Re: Growing SEO spam on Bitcointalk on: March 01, 2024, 11:35:18 AM
Today i found someone perform another way to perform SEO spam by including spam link and description on profile page.
Years ago, when downloading all old profiles, I found (if I remember correctly) 30k profiles with similar URLs. Most of them are probably proxy banned, but even if they get a real ban, that profile information won't get wiped.

And i thought it's relative new SEO spam trick. While i agree such profile information won't get wiped by admin, simply adding rel=ugc on either all profile or limited to both new/banned account should reduce such SEO spam.

Today i found someone perform another way to perform SEO spam by including spam link and description on profile page. Here's an example.

In addition, there's no rel="ugc" tag which makes the URL would have higher position on search engine result. Take note i manually remove "https://www." and replace "." with "dot. I would suggest admin to add rel=ugc for link shown on profile page to discourage those spammer.

Code:
<tr>
<td><b>Website: </b></td>
<td><a href="mywatchuk dot com/">high quality replica watches uk</a></td>

390  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Why is the RPC explorer failing to connect to the Bitcoin Core in myNode ? on: March 01, 2024, 10:15:01 AM
OK. Some weird things happened. First, if I edit .env with nano, the file will be edited properly. Then when restarting BTC_RPC_Explorer from myNode "Manage" page, the .env file will revert back to original. All changes will disappear.

--snip--

That's weird. I only tried myNode for a bit, but it's possible it's overridden by myNode. Have you checked whether you can edit BTC RPC Explorer setting from myNode GUI app?

Try adding the followings two in configuration file:
Code:
rpcbind=127.0.0.1
rpcallowip=127.0.0.1
Which config file ?  Bitcoin or .env ?
Thanks

He refer to Bitcoin Core's config file.

Will wallets accept it?
They should not since the address (the data part) is short and non-standard (20 byte instead of expected 32).

I just tried it on Electrum watch-only, where
1. 2nd address created by OP got accepted without any warning or error message.
2. Electrum also let me create unsigned TX with OP's 2nd address as receiver.
392  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How to guess or estimate the tx time ? on: March 01, 2024, 09:58:56 AM
You can use this site https://jochen-hoenicke.de/queue/#BTC,2h,weight

Currently the weight on 10+ sat/vbytes is 43.403 vMB since the average weight of each Bitcoin block is 2 MB and it takes 10 minutes to mine one block, so it may takes around 6-7 hours CMIIW.

It's not bad idea. Although saying "at least" (rather than "takes around") would be more accurate since people keep creating TX which may have higher fee rate than your own TX.
393  Other / Meta / Re: Streaming service quality documentary on the BitcoinTalk.org Forum is now out on: March 01, 2024, 09:51:16 AM
I was expecting 1-2 hours video since you use term documentary, but it's only about 10 minutes so i decide to watch it. While i'm already aware most of shared information, the content is dense enough considering video's duration.

Not bad short video segment about bitcointalk forum, but they added conspiracy theory that Satoshi never actually wrote on forum, and that his posts got imported from his sourceforge account.
They are also claiming that Bitcointalk forum is the biggest reason for creation of altcoin movement, because every coin after bitcoin got started in bitcointalk forum  Tongue
It would be cool to see aantonop aka Andreas Antonopoulos and few other OG's being active here again.
For historical accuracy we felt it was worth putting in both views on the Satoshi piece since its still unsettled (literally being discussed in part due to the on-going COPA trail in the UK).

Outside from COPA vs CSW trial, i expect only minority believe Satoshi never post on this forum. So IMO it's not really worth to mention on short documentary.

Why wasn't he banned months ago? If Mods let chatbot plagiarism go unpunished, Bitcointalk will be completely overrun in a few years.

It looks like my, @nutildah's[1] and other's report finally got this user banned. Although IMO nuke would be better option in this case. Hard to believe it took about a month and lots of reports to make it happen. This wouldn't be enough to discourage spammer who use AI or copy-paste bot (with spinner feature).

395  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Product feedback for new Hardcore Wallet on: February 29, 2024, 10:34:28 AM
Thanks for the great questions.

1. Umbrel and other nodes are set up for people who want to run nodes.  The Epiphany is  for people who want to transact in Bitcoin easily and peer-to-peer.  To use the Epiphany you don't even need to know what a node is and no additional devices or software are needed.  You can do everything on the touchscreen.  Take it anywhere you like or leave it at home. The built in battery and touchscreen combination make the uses almost unlimited while adhering to the core tenants of Bitcoin.  No other wallet except Core does this.  That is why we call it a Hardcore wallet.
2. We are hoping to sell the base model between $300 and $350 US and the 2TB version for $450.
3. Yes it will have an integrated camera for scanning QR codes.

1. Thanks for the explanation. The built-in touchscreen is definitely Epiphany's advantage, although FWIW some company (which offer hardware to run full node) also let their user install and Bitcoin wallet software easily.
2. It's a bit cheaper than i expected. Does the cost include any form support or warranty?
3. That's great.

No. I have many merit, but i only have little knowledge about cryptography or programming.

Is the most merited list a good indicator of this?
If the members are regularly active in the "Technical Discussion" board, then yes

I would say "not really". User like COBRAS active on such board[1], but doing shady stuff where that user earn 2 negative feedback.

Yes, it is possible to bridge out from Bitcoin Testnet to Bitcoin Signet. There are a few different ways to do this, but the most common is to use a bridge contract. A bridge contract is a smart contract that allows you to convert your Testnet bitcoins into Signet bitcoins. To use a bridge contract, you'll need to have a wallet that supports both Testnet and Signet, such as the Metamask wallet. Once you have your wallet set up, you can then use the bridge contract to transfer your Testnet bitcoins to Signet. The process is fairly straightforward, but it's important to follow the instructions carefully to ensure the transfer is successfully..
Once you've bridged out your bitcoins, you'll be able to use them on the Signet network. It's important to note that while you can bridge out from Testnet to Signet, you cannot bridge back from Signet to Testnet. Additionally, you should be aware that Signet is still in beta, and there may be some bugs or issues that arise. Overall, bridging out from Testnet to Signet is a relatively simple process, but it's always a good idea to proceed with caution when dealing with cryptocurrency.

Another reply on same thread already explain why it's impossible. In addition,
1. Metamask doesn't support Bitcoin.
2. Bitcoin have no smart contract, but only non-turing complete scripting.
3. Few other mistake i don't bother to point out.
398  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Product feedback for new Hardcore Wallet on: February 28, 2024, 10:24:19 AM
Initially i mistook it as hardware wallet with touch screen support, although actually it's device with full node and wallet feature. So here's my feedback/thought,
1. What are advantage of your device compared with your competitors (e.g. Umbrel Home and MyNode Model One ?
2. Can you share estimated price of your device?
3. Will it have camera for scanning Bitcoin address?
399  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] Joinmarket - Coinjoin that people will actually use on: February 28, 2024, 10:14:52 AM
Made a post about this on Bitcoin Discussion but was deleted for some reason so ill post it here. I've been reading about JoinMarket and noticed this post on this forum about it. url: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1609980.0

It describes a potential way to unmix JoinMarket by exploiting its maker taker system. To simplify it says that all outputs of a mix are either maker or taker but it is trivial to determine which outputs are makers as they will continue on to participate in more mixes while the taker order will not therefore it can be unmixed.

Is this still an issue for JoinMarket or have they found a way around it?

First of all, if you want definite answer, you probably want ask this question on other JoinMarket community[1]. These days on this forum, i see almost no one talk technical detail of JoinMarket. Looking at one of community discussion[2], it seems the workaround is multiple CoinJoin which reduce tracking confidence or use different CoinJoin method supported by JoinMarket software.
