381  Economy / Speculation / Re: Hello $2500 on: November 04, 2015, 02:56:32 PM
The volume in chinese exchanges (huobi/okCoin) is absolutely stunning. I don't remember such volume ever before. It seems like word is around town now on China and it's spreading fast with their capital controls tightening up their wealth. It's seems people is getting feed up of the goverment taking away their hard earned money and are pushing out outside thanks to Bitcoin.
382  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / How to get the QR of an address in Core? on: November 04, 2015, 02:54:57 PM
I have never needed this before but I would like to know how can I get the QR code of an address in Core. Namely, I want to send some BTC to a friend and my friend has a Mycellium wallet. How do I make it so that he can scan my address instead of typing it manually? I just can't find a way to show address in QR format to send, only to receive.
383  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: To The Moon on: November 04, 2015, 02:08:23 PM
Calm down OP. Nothing wrong with people having fun and celebrating the very deserved price rise. Also, new technology gets adopted by young people because old people are too stupid and stuck in the middle ages of banking to understand the importance of Bitcoin, so I would expect that a lot of people in here are going to be young people and not old investors.
384  Economy / Speculation / Re: Hello $500! on: November 04, 2015, 02:06:33 PM
Damn... I expected price to drop back down after it hit $350. Made an order on purse with the majority of my Bitcoin to purchase a hoverboard. Needless to say, this is going to be a very expensive hoverboard.

A hoverboard? I didn't knew these exist. Do you mean those that use wheels, the insane one that used helium, or are they invented actual hovering boards like on Return to the Future 2?

Anyway, my personal view is, you should just hold.. we don't know how high it can go this time. This time it's very different, don't forget we are on mainstream magazine's covers now.
385  Economy / Speculation / Re: Now Bitstamp: $499.54/BTC new pump & dump? on: November 04, 2015, 02:04:40 PM
We are facing a new pump and dump style Mt.Gox?

I am seriously concerned that this is the case, I mean $100 rise overnight??  All I know from watching btc price is that when price goes up fast, it can come down even faster.

What's so surprising about it? Don't you understand the marketcap on Bitcoin is tiny and it only takes a couple of concerned Chinese whales about their wealth storing some of their money on it + some wall street money from Gemini coming in as well to drive the price nuts? Undervalued assets can go up in no time. Of course there will be a correction but we will end up much higher than we are now.
386  Economy / Speculation / Re: Hello $500! on: November 04, 2015, 01:41:13 PM
Not a long ago people was talking about how $500 is impossible to be reached within a 2015 yearly range and that we would be stuck with a really slow uptrend if anything. A lot of people tried to warn you about how the growth for Bitcoin potential is hundred thousands above and fluctuations from 250 to 1000 could happen in a matter of days. Of course people wouldn't listen.
387  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Bye bye Kraken on: November 04, 2015, 01:39:38 PM
Kraken was a pain in the ass for a lot of people. A lot of people reported their addresses not being confirmed ever (as if their street didn't exist). They just got tired and abandoned their accounts. I mean what kind of service would make you lose so much money over stupid verifications? It's not worth it, just keep holding, exchanges are shit.
388  Economy / Speculation / Anyone else not that happy that the price is going up? on: November 02, 2015, 04:34:36 PM
Honestly I would love for the price to not go above 3xx. Im still not happy with my stack, so every month with this low and stable price has been a blessing and so has been for any long term holder. Being able to buy 1 BTC without going bankrupt is such a massive gift for the average guy with an average salary. Been stacking as much as I could, not wasting a single $ on anything that wasn't a priority (and the sig campaign was also a small but nice help in building my stack). I would love more time to get my BTC stack to double figures before it becomes impossible to buy 1 BTC in a reasonable amount of time without being rich.
389  Economy / Economics / Re: What you will do if bitcoin price drops to 50$ and you have lots of bitcoin on: November 02, 2015, 04:31:50 PM
If the price ever goes to 50$ again (which is looking more and more increasingly impossible daily) there will be a massive panic buying rally by anyone that didn't have 1 BTC yet, because on the back of everyone's mind 1 BTC will still be something very desirable, and the temptation to buy it at 50 USD will be way to strong to let it fall. I myself would buy like 10 BTC at once if it went that cheap.
390  Economy / Economics / Re: America's new debt ceiling - $19,600,000,000,000 on: November 02, 2015, 04:26:54 PM
Bitcoin is the only way that we can have a global form of money that's up to date with current's standards in technology and that is bullet proof again the evils of hyperinflation which assume resources are infinite. Bitcoin promotes saving and frugality instead of mindless consumption because you value your money way more than filthy fiat.

Well, I like BTC a lot, but I am very much into diversification re protecting my financial butt.  We really do not know how BTC will react to a hyperinflationary environment (nor in a deflationary environment either).  So, I would hold some gold as well as even CA$H (the long green stuff, NOT electrons in the bank).

How much of each of BTC, gold and CA$H?  Depends on your own circumstances and views of possible economic scenarios.

But, a denouement is coming...  The 19.6 trillion national debt (way understating total debts) is not payable, and WILL be defaulted on, one way or another.

Diversification in both Bitcoin and gold is a good idea, but im not sure about cash. At first when I saw all those supposed rumors about cash disappearing and how governments worldwide had a secret agenda to make it gone within the next decades I would usually laugh and call it an Alex Jones type of tinfoil hat conspiracy, but it seems this is a very real possibility. Im honestly giving cash less and less relevancy on my portfolio and Bitcoin and Gold are looking like the ultimate safe havens.
391  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Gavin Andresen AMA happening now. on: November 02, 2015, 04:19:28 PM
Im honestly too lazy to register in another forum, but I would love if someone can ask him what does he pretend to do in the case of the blocksize being too big so that average people can't run a node? Why is he ok with centralizing Bitcoin nodes when mining is already centralized? I assume someone has already asked him 40 questions about the blocksize so im going to start reading the 7 pages to see what happened.
392  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Russia Proposes Jail Sentence for Bitcoin Activities on: November 02, 2015, 04:04:06 PM
A fast view of this news make understand to everyone the fear that the economy of Russia have from bitcoin. This a clear sign of the crisis that this economy are passe. They have fear from bitcoin because have fear that most of the Russian goes to the bitcoin because of not believe in their national currency. This it would be the end for the Russian economy which even such kind of actions it is in serious difficulties after the international sanctions. This situation has one and only one name, Putin. With its delirium of greatness, with his authoritarianism in guiding its Government, with his stupidity in doing its foreign policy, with his myopia in using the force outside its national borders or stealing territory or create or support irredentism to, or in the other independents countries near Russia has bring all this situation for one country which, under another normal and fair leadership, would be one of the most prosperous and developed in the world.

Putin should be studying a plan to expand the size of national jails if he wants to start putting everyone involved on Bitcoin on there because he's going to run out of space.

This picture is very revealing. Since the ban was set, the market on BTC/rubble is still growing at a steady pace. The smart Russians don't want to miss on the last opportunities to get some cheap coins no matter what Putin says about it.
393  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Brazilian exchanges hit all-time volume high in October on: November 02, 2015, 04:00:44 PM
I have been doing some research since I was trying to learn portuguese, it seems there is a Youtuber in brasil doing some videos on Bitcoin, this may have helped Bitcoin to be spread among the common folk who isn't familiar with it. He's got 50K followers:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1n_9gzwlpZU

Unfortunately I can't understand most of what's being said on there but it's definitely good news and he's pro Bitcoin.
394  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Someone on Reddit took this picture on: November 02, 2015, 03:47:29 PM

I think this deserved it's own thread there.
When I started to look at Bitcoin back in the day, it was still some sort of nerd thing that had absolutely no recognition in the real world. Now, a person was able to take a pic with 3 magazines (not some random magazines as you can see) in a shop talking about Bitcoin on their covers. How insane is that? I think we aren't really grasping what's going on in here. I wonder what things will look like in 10 years.
395  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BITCOIN IS STILL FAMOUS on: November 02, 2015, 03:41:20 PM
I would say Bitcoin is getting pretty famous lately.

Nicely placed magazines. Now everyone that looks on that direction will notice Bitcoin. It's just a matter of time when we see entire sections being covered in magazines that feature Bitcoin on their covers in one way or another.
396  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: cash remains the only option if there's an emergency on: November 02, 2015, 03:32:03 PM
It depends on what type of emergency. If there are flooding, well your stuff will get destroyed by the water no matter what you do, but if you make it, that's all, civilization goes on and Bitcoin remains the most advanced and better form of money available.

If on the other hand you are talking about a global collapse that resembles the Mad Max movie.. then only water, food and a shotgun is all that will help you go through the day.
397  Economy / Speculation / Let's try a game: Guessing year of v1.0 Core + price on: October 30, 2015, 06:42:53 PM
In this speculation game we have to try to guess when the 1.0 version of the Bitcoin Core will be released, plus a year.

Im going to be pragmatic and try to guess that it has taken about 5 or 6 years to reach 0.11, so I will say

Year 2055 - Price: $552.011/BTC. There will be news about it being the highest valued single asset of all times surpassing Mr Warren Buffet's big venture.

The blockchain and its sidechains are all over the place.

Cash and paper are something of the past that only hipsters remember about.

399  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: When can we have improved features to store and order addresses in Core? on: October 30, 2015, 06:21:27 PM
In the console/command line and the rpc, there is a thing for having different accounts of addresses for grouping. I don't know how or whether that works in the GUI.

I can't find anything that does what I want to do in the gui. I am scared to play around with command console to be honest.. and it doesn't solve the problem. The point would be to have this all accessible for the average joe on the GUI. The GUI is pretty simple and there is nothing that has to do with address ordering.
400  Bitcoin / Project Development / When can we have improved features to store and order addresses in Core? on: October 30, 2015, 05:40:29 PM
I still love Core because it feels like "real Bitcoin" and im too scared to use anything else anyway (to store my main amount of BTC) in software.
But I have a problem. The addresses are all over the place now because I always create a new one to receive and send. And it's very hard to order them. It's limited to alphanumeric ordering and that's about it.

I would like to be able to add "makers" so you can order it like: "Coding jobs" and you put all of your addresses related to that under that group. "Withdrawals from X exchange". And you put it all there. "X sig campaign payments"..

And also addresses of creation in another column. You know just to make it more intuitive. Right now is very messy. I know this is not a priority but if you want to see people running nodes I think everything counts. The more accessible and cool features the best, it cant hurt.
