I took a nap.

Before I went to sleep, everything worked fine.

When I woke up, I get the 'WebSocket closed' error.  Win764, Chrome 14.0.835.163 m

Edit: Ahh, looks like its a chrome thing. And firefox/ie says "use a better browser"

same thing here with opera 12, no avail Sad
3845  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Realtime Order Book, Time & Sales, and Tick Chart on: September 18, 2011, 10:32:02 PM
recently my ubuntu distro updated chrome to ver 14.0.835.163 and i only get disconnects, the wiki page on websockets doesn't give too much info on supporting browsers though, what can we do to continue using this service ? i've already searched how to downgrade my browser to no avail Sad

console output:

Code:
01:31:30 > WebSocket Closed
01:31:29 > Got 350 asks and 594 bids.
01:31:28 > Loading full depth of market table.
01:31:28 > WebSocket open.
01:31:27 > Changing depth display to 100 rows.
01:31:27 > Resizing console to 5 lines.
01:31:27 > Opening WebSocket to ws://websocket.mtgox.com/mtgox

Wink

FUD == Fear, Uncertainty and Doubt

Where is the Fear, Uncertainty, and Doubt?

I call it fact.

@Mr Wizard

I think the creator of GeistGeld can readily verify that I have 68 GH/s of my own.

nice to hear that, lots of hashes Smiley
thanks for making this security test for all of us, would be nice to have some results after you finish though

Glad you like it, he also claims he can do it with as little as 25% of the power.... would seem to me doing it to Bitcoin itself in not that far outside his reach with all the support you all have for these "testers", will that be the next great test, he does need to know the limits after all.  Am I right people?  Ya BTCExpress, just go straight for Bitcoin, that after all is the MOST realistic test, a lot of people here would love to see your data.
This attack is only really possible at over 90% power (which he seems to have), unless he actually found a exploit in the code itself. Personally, I think that he just thinks he found a "design flaw", but we'll see. He'll be able to do this attack with this much power, anyway.

it is a design flaw Maged  https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=43692.msg521772#msg521772

Let me put it this way: You're saying that you have more hashing power than every pool other than Deepbit, btcguild, and Slush. Additionally, that's without having even advertised your rouge pool on this forum.

Please tell me how you actually expect us to believe that.
He says he works at Apple, and if that's the case, especially if he works in a HW lab, he has access to a TON of equipment.  Can you corroborate his IP with that of Apple Inc?  It would be a shame if he were wasting valuable corporate resources and/or time on either coordinating an attack or browsing these forums on company time.

Anybody down for a social attack on BitcoinEXpress, just for the lulz?  I mean, it'd be for his own good anyway so he can better protect himself in the future. Cheesy

I'm down. What city did he say he worked in? I know it was one outside the United States.

i think you should leave aside personal attacks and thanks these guys for making it public, they even gave some time to take measures

just make sure you keep your node running with the original blockchain in place, the fork will not be accepted by default, and stop transacting any coins. Please read up some more on the bitcoin protocol

@viperjbm man you have time to write those long posts and don't dedicate some to educate yourself into how blockchains work
3856  Other / Archival / Re: delete on: September 13, 2011, 03:52:32 AM
So much for the invisible hand.
well, if he kills ixcoin, solidcoin, i0coin, and gg, and only bitcoin remains a viable crypto-currency, then BTC prices will rise due to its security over all the other chains

Well I for one am soured on all crypocurrencies including bitcoin. Especially if no one has a solution for me for storing my namecoins on a windows machine.
I can't see me being able to install and learn linux in a few days.

If I lose them I will be selling all my btc soon after.  I don't care if this some how proves bitcoin is secure... I am just depressed
by all of it and want out even if I take more of a loss.

I hope the pain you are inflicting on others is keeping you entertained BitcoinEXpress.

lol, you should not be here if you can't stand the pressure, sell me all your bitcoins right now and go play with gold or something else
3857  Other / Archival / Re: delete on: September 13, 2011, 03:25:47 AM

I'm in for the ride, kudos to them for making it public

ArtForz himself gave us the solution too, fixings the blocks time-stamp from devel view and the second one that was not stated can be that every peer maintains it's already downloaded "ledger" and stops transacting.
Remember we know very little when it comes to bitcoin protocol but they will be majority for a small time-span and working on a fork after all. My client will definitively not be accepting a ~9000 block reset if i don't re-download the whole blockchain.
Having block hashes included into main bitcoin client was a good idea for bitcoin after all, heh

Hope vinced would look into it and don't freakout ppl, as long as one peer with the honest ledger (blockchain) exist on the network you will not lose your coins or domains.
