Look like we should have to see more pain in the market before UP.

I buy the top it dumps, I sell the bottom it pumps (straight downtrend) ?

Is that you Proudhon?

This place is deserted which indicates a true bear market.

A bear marked 11% below the ATH ?  Yeah...  Roll Eyes

Maybe the bull market will only be 11% above the ATH then.

 Undecided

fucking Christ what has this place come to?

What have you done for me lately entitled attitudes everywhere these days.

Shouldn't these Ukrainian footballers be on the front line anyway?

There are athletes from Ukraine who have decided to take up a rifle and defend their country, but given that I know how things work in war, I think it is important to have people who fight for their country in other ways. Given that this data is from last year, I assume that the number of dead athletes is much higher.

April 2 (Reuters) - Russia's war against Ukraine has claimed the lives of 262 Ukrainian athletes and destroyed 363 sports facilities, the country's sports minister, Vadym Huttsait, said on Saturday.

Never let facts get in the way of a good crying rant.
43  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏈 The United Football League (UFL) 2024 Thread 🏈 on: June 17, 2024, 02:50:14 AM
The UFL Championship game just concluded. A shutout by the Birmingham Stallions over the San Antonio Brahmas, 25-0. It is the Stallions' 3rd league championship in a row. It was also the first shutout of the entire season. Tom Brady was down on the field, and it was indeed the most packed stadium of any game this year.

Birmingham was #1 in the league throughout the whole year, so not much of a surprise there.

What day is it... June 17? OK so now we only have about 2 months to go before NFL preseason begins.
I cannot believe San Antonio didn't bench their QB earlier. #14 was playing like a pushy. He slid on 3rd and 1 without really ever attempting to get the 1st down, kind of felt like he was throwing the game on purpose. Like he had a bet on it or was threatened.

Aug 1st is preseason football, just a little under 1.5 months LFG!!!

Haha, thats what I was saying!

A new HWUB vid on the intel performance changes.

Unfortunately all these tests are game only but does have some good power metrics under core heavy workloads.

But then again X3D is a gaming chip and not the workstation core heavy line.

https://odysee.com/@HardwareUnboxed:2/ryzen-7-7800x3d-vs.-intel-core-i9-14900k:6

I like Steve's reviews as he does a ton of real world testing and not targeted BS.

Tim on the other hand is a Fanboi that can't be trusted.

Thanks!  I was taking another look at the R9 7950X3D and it's on sale here... a couple of places are competing with one another for some reason and I can pick on up for (converting to USD) $545 taxes in.  The thing is, I was a little disappointed at the much smaller selection of mobos for it.  I understand why now after watching the video.

Nice!, I was wondering why you hadn't mentioned that chip and also if your only interested in workloads and not gaming then the 7950x will be fine.

Honestly, I don't even need a faster computer... I just think 7 years is long enough between upgrades.  I don't game - except for DOOM once in a while but I'm sure I could play a dozen instances of that on my current computer without issue.  I just found a brand new intel i5-13400F, 16 gigs DDR4, a 512 gig NVMe Gen 4 with a wireless mouse and keyboard (it's an HP envy) for $493US taxes in.  It has a PCIE slot for a discrete video card but the power supply is only 310W.  That processor is almost 3X my current desktop.  I'm not buying it - I dislike the proprietary nature of the parts in most HP (and Dell) computers.   Just an example of what I could get for the price of the r9 7950X3D - basically a ready-to-use machine.

In that case you might want to wait as the next generations of cpus will be out this year and as far as Intel goes you need a socket change Gen to Gen and we have no clue yet what either companies performance will be yet.

The thing about upgrading is the longer you can wait the better off you'll be as far as price to performance.

My personal system I'm still running a Second Gen Zen+ and I have no need to upgrade yet so I'll be waiting on these next gens to see what they offer.

https://www.techpowerup.com/review/future-hardware-releases/

And yeah, canned systems suck, avoid at all costs.

It must be love, and why let a 48-year age gap get in between something as special as that

Bill Belichick, 72, is dating 24-year-old former cheerleader
Quote
Bill Belichick has a new love interest.

Belichick, the 72-year-old ex-Patriots coach, is dating 24-year-old Jordon Hudson, who was formerly a cheerleader, TMZ reported Friday.

Belichick has been linked with Hudson since shortly after he split with longtime girlfriend, Linda Holliday, according to the outlet.
...
One of Hudson’s former cheerleading teammates said Belichick’s love story began when they met on a flight from Boston to Florida in 2021, while he was still dating Holliday.

The two bonded over a philosophy project Hudson had been working on and exchanged contact information after landing, according to TMZ.

Sounds legit.

He must have more money than I thought! Smiley

OT: Check out a cool map of US housing affordability. Move the slider to whatever your number is  Wink
https://www.nbcnews.com/data-graphics/map-where-can-you-afford-a-home-in-the-united-states-rcna155286
The median household income in US is $77397.
The whole west coast+Florida coast+ Tristate area (NY, NJ, CT)+ the rest of the North-east coast are unaffordable for at least 50% of the populace.

Slide all the way to the right, notice that the largest area that still priced out, is the Jackson Hole. Go search the photos around this area, the views are like they are from Switzerland.

I noticed the area, but did not bother to check that it is around Jackson, thanks.
Apparently WY is 11X the area of NJ and is also bigger than UK-I did not know these factoids beforehand.
https://www.nationsonline.org/oneworld/map/USA/wyoming_map.htm

Maybe "aliens" around the "Devils Tower" have all that money  Wink

...most likely just wealthy ranchers, though.

Today Microstrategy announced the early call of a Convertible bond for 650 millions, and the issue of a new one up to 575 millions.

Can you translate the financial institutional fuckery language here for those of us that opt out.

I seem to remember you saying you were going to get one of those 50k Mac Pro's.

I can't justify the price of a Mac Pro now that I'm retired. Still have the 2019 Intel Mac Pro that is still beefy enough for my use today.

TBH, the M-Series Macbook Pro's are so performant nowadays, I can't see the need for getting a Mac Pro any more. For my purposes anyway. Not sure I can even justify a Mac Studio (beefier Mac Mini...)

I don't do much audio work any more, really. Coming out of retirement to work on a game with a friend in Sweden towards the end of the year, tho.

Yeah, I thought apple was really pushing it with that one!

(Still a Mac guy for everything else. Just have the one PC for gaming)

I would bet Bob has that one covered. Wink

I was thinking of getting an I7 14700khttps://www.newegg.com/intel-core-i7-14700k-core-i7-14th-gen/p/N82E16819118466?

Intels are garbage now.

This says that it depends on your range (for gaming):

https://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/best-cpus,3986.html

Quote
Overall Best CPU for Gaming: $350 to $400   AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D (Buy) [More]   Intel Core i7-14700K (Buy)
Value Best CPU for Gaming: $200 to $250   AMD Ryzen 5 7600X (Buy)  [More]   Core i5-13400 (Buy) | Ryzen 7 5700X3D (Buy)
Highest Performance Best CPU for Gaming: $500+   AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D (Buy) [More]   Intel Core i9-13900K (Buy)
Mid-Range Best CPU for Gaming: $250 to $300   Intel Core i5-13600K (Buy) [More]   Ryzen 7 5800X3D (Buy)
Budget Best CPU for Gaming: $100 to $150   Intel Core i3-12100F (Buy) [More]   AMD Ryzen 5 5600 (Buy)
Entry-Level Best CPU for Gaming: (iGPU)    Ryzen 5 8600G (Buy) [More]   AMD Ryzen 5 5600G (Buy)

I looked into the Ryzen7-7800X3D only because it's more available than the i7-14700F but it's only ~$30 cheaper but it's ~twice the wattage and nearly 25% slower.  I can't get an i7-14700F anywhere near me right now that isn't already in a machine.

Please look at realistic test results, because Ryzen performs not as good as Ix in the labs, but since multiple cpu vulnerabilities in intels microprocessors are patched at bios and OS level, the intels often perform worse in real world usecases.

Just my 2 cents.

This is the results with all bios patches applied for both.

For those that don't know, cinebench is the goto benchmark for workloads.

I really doubt we are breaking the ATH this summer. After the election we might get some up significant movement but at the moment demand just isn't there or maybe supply is just insatiable. I’m thinking supply and I'm convinced there is a lot of paper bitcoin being printed at the moment.

In the meantime just DCA.

Nice to see you, how you been?

Interesting.  I updated my ASUS mobo BIOS not so long ago and ran into all sorts of temperature issues including hearing my liquid cooler pump cavitating.  It's a K series but an older i7-5820 - I'll have to watch the videos.  Thanks!

So if you don't want to sift through all those vids, I went through and found one that really does a good in depth analysis.

The missing funds explain what is at the heart of the worst meltdown in the U.S. fintech sector since its emergence in the years after the 2008 financial crisis. More than 100,000 customers of a diverse set of fintech companies have been locked out of their savings accounts for nearly a month after the failure of Synapse, an Andreessen Horowitz-backed startup, amid disagreements over user balances.
