41  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Understanding dormant wallets for beginners on: May 11, 2024, 09:09:14 PM
Because coins haven't moved out from an address for six months or longer does not mean the coins are lost. It is impossible to know if the coins in a particular address is lost, expect the owner tells you so and signs a bitcoin message from the address.
No, I disagree with you, if someone is able to sign a message from an adress it means he's still owning the private key and he's still controling the address and the funds belonging to it. So if someone does that, you shouldn't believe them and you should consider those coins and this address as not lost instead. To be honest I don't think there is a way to know if some coins are really lost, because the owner could retrieve his private key one day even if he is not hoping it anymore.

Haha, you are not wrong! Coyster's take on lost Bitcoin is a bit of a head-scratcher.   Signing a message from an address proves it is not lost, not the other way around.  Wink
42  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Betcoin.AG Deleted my account after I made a withdrawal after winning. on: May 11, 2024, 08:24:47 PM
Just to clarify, have you tried to contact them in any other way than the live chat on the site? It might be helpful to actually email customer support.

Yes I am comfortable sharing it. but does my Email have to be in the screenshot? I would be more than happy to send the screenshot with my mail to someone that works at Betcoin instead if thats possible. Maybe I can post it with the email here but can I delete This thread in the future? just so my mail wont be out there.

No, you dont need to include your email address in the screenshots.  While you can delete your own post later, keep in mind that entire threads (including other people's posts) cannot be deleted. Also, your post may still be available on archived sites maintained by third parties.
43  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What can we do to make Bitcoin hit $100k on: May 10, 2024, 09:15:43 PM
From my perspectives, I think the crypto market is being manipulated by the whales and ETF firms because this is not what we speculated to have happened in the crypto market. Normally history repeats itself but this time we are seeing something different and we need to ask questions. The have pumped the price of Bitcoin to a level where they wanted it to fall so that they could accumulate enough holdings before leaving it to continue going bull. Anybody that is not patient would have to lose their funds..

Every past bull and bear market in Bitcoin and other markets has seen the same thing.  Whales and big players have a role for sure.  But we gotta be real, thinking its all a big conspiracy wont get you anywhere and  these markets pump hard and crash hard.  Thats how it goes.  The whales might push things one way or another now and then, but they aint the only drivers behind it all.
44  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Share your top mistakes in crypto - learning from others experiences! on: May 10, 2024, 09:05:37 PM
I used to obsessively watch the charts and make trades based on rumors I saw online.  Total recipe for getting rekt.  Id freak out whenever prices swung wildly.  Now I know volatility is just part of the game.

Also, I almost fell victim to a phishing scam once. Some fake site almost got me to enter my private key and drain my wallet.  Those days of newbie mistakes were sweaty and stressful, but at least I learned a few good lessons about personal security.
45  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What you think about Casinos rewards? on: May 10, 2024, 08:37:12 PM
To be honest, those free spins and other giveaways dont really make much difference to me.  I mean, they are fine and all, but Ive seen it all before.  Still, I get why the casinos push them so hard.  A few free goes here and there can give your bankroll a lift and that isnt bad when you are just starting out and trying to learn the games.

And hey - who doesnt like finding a few extra dollars in their back pocket? Youd have to be nuts to turn your nose up at something for nothing, right?
46  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Non custodial wallet is not for the weak on: May 10, 2024, 08:20:40 PM
You make a fair point - non-custodial wallets do require folks to step up and take on more responsibility.  And I get it, probably not for everyone.  But like un_rank said, Bitcoin's whole idea is about people willing to own their choices and  so if keeping your own keys feels like too much hassle, maybe you gotta ask yourself what you really want outta crypto in the first place.
47  Economy / Economics / Re: Your own people family best friends and loyal supportive people are true wealth on: May 09, 2024, 09:10:51 PM
The world can certainly seem crazy at times.  Jobs come and go, economies rise and fall, even entire nations face uncertainty.  But true friends - they stick with you through it all and  they are the ones who will answer that 3 am phone call when you need them, or get you out of a messy situation (hey it happens!).

Money is important, yes, but having solid people in your corner, who know all your quirks and share your weird sense of humor, thats truly priceless.  Those connections make life's unpredictable ups and downs easier to weather.  With good people at your side, you can handle just about anything the world throws your way. (This is from my own experience, at least.)

49  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Rollbit just disabled my account and scammed my money on: May 09, 2024, 08:16:44 PM
unfortunately yes we did claimed some coupons but we did not know it will lead to accounts being disabled, they could have given a warning like
~

To be perfectly blunt, they did put a warning for everyone to see. It is in their terms of use,  the long and boring document most people skip.  But, that doesnt mean you get a free pass for breaking the rules. You claimed coupons with multiple accounts that violated their terms. They disabled your account. Harsh? Maybe. But its their platform, their rules.

50  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Rollbit just disabled my account and scammed my money on: May 08, 2024, 09:27:30 PM
I understand this is a frustrating situation.  Moving forward, having multiple accounts on gambling platforms is not wise, even when it comes to family members, and it is better not to do that to avoid issues.  However, $140 is not insignificant, especially if money is tight.  Perhaps Rollbit could show some grace and refund part of the lost funds considering the circumstances but still, violating platforms' rules, even unintentionally, can bring stiff penalties.  Hopefully Rollbit will reconsider but if not, take it as a relatively inexpensive lesson on following online services' guidelines closely to prevent problems.

And by the way, this is not a scam accusation. Technically, there was no scam since you violated the terms of use of the service.
51  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Question to hodlers:How will you spend the money? on: May 05, 2024, 08:07:17 PM
OP, you asked me in PM for my opinion, so I will just answer here.  I dont have a ton invested in Bitcoin or anything, so realistically it probably wont be making me rich anytime soon.  But if the price did shoot up enough where cashing out a bit could give my small business a helpful boost, I would likely sell off some of what Im holding.  Not looking to fully retire off Bitcoin gains or anything crazy, but some extra capital at the right time could help me take things to the next level with my company and  i still gotta keep my day job and all that but growing the business is important to me too.  It is always a tricky balance figuring out when to hold and when to sell with this stuff.  But if I had a chance to fund an expansion or some upgrades that could pay off long-term, I would seriously consider making a move.  This game isnt just about holding out for early retirement - sometimes you gotta know when to take some profits off the table strategically.  I dont have all the answers, but thats my general take on it all.
52  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: uni-join & tunbler io down? Websites offline, new regulations & raids happen? on: May 05, 2024, 07:22:09 PM
These 2 websites ( [banned mixer] & [banned mixer] )have been attacked and have been set offline now for several days.

When you want to mention a mixer site in the discussion, avoid using their full domain name. This is forbidden on the forum. Discussing mixer sites is still allowed, I believe, as long as you don't include links to their sites or their full domain names.
53  Economy / Reputation / Re: How to remove negative trust from my account? on: May 05, 2024, 06:51:44 PM
I don't know why my bitcointalk account got negative trust?

How do you not know that?  Your negative tag is due to an alt account with ban evasion.

You have a reference to a thread with more information: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5270480.0

How to remove negative trust from my account?

You cannot remove it.  The only one who can remove it is the member who gave you the negative tag.  It would probably be best if you create a topic in the Reputation board or contact that member privately.
54  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Question to hodlers:How will you spend the money? on: May 04, 2024, 09:40:47 PM
Preaching to the choir here - I think we are all on the same page about holding our Bitcoin long-term instead of chasing quick profits.  But you make a fair point, when do we eventually sell? That question keeps us strategizing for sure.

Personally, I dream about setting up different income streams so I can be free to pursue what I enjoy, travel more or even sleep in when I want!  Real estate, side businesses, rental properties - those can work.  Im just brainstorming ideas too, and always interested to hear other ideas people have in mind.
55  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you think US Paypal Users would be interested in buying cryptocurrency? on: May 04, 2024, 09:00:08 PM
I think this PayPal news seems like it will inch crypto more into the mainstream.  But, my guess is most folks who already have PayPal and care about Bitcoin probably own some anyway.  It is not like they would need PayPal just to get into crypto.  Plus lots of people use PayPal because it is easy, not because they wanna deal with complex stuff like cryptocurrency.

But no doubt it is cool PayPal's embracing crypto now and  makes you think if regular users will dive in too though.  Maybe cryptos still too out-there for most mainstream folks.  I kinda think we got more adoption down the road before avg folks fully jump aboard.
56  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Just Starting Advice on: May 03, 2024, 07:32:11 PM
hi im not new to mining~

Welcome here! You have been studying for nearly two years?  What subject?  Cause with your computer specs, mining bitcoin "properly" is as useless as trying to empty the ocean with a spoon.

If you actually wanna mine coins, read up on ASIC rigs.  But also think about just buying bitcoins instead, cause electricity aint free and mining may not pay off now.
Im no expert though and  just my thoughts.
57  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Mining and Public Access on: May 03, 2024, 07:04:45 PM
how do those bitcoins get into public circulation? What I mean is how are we the public able to purchase these new bitcoins that are mined?

Just like your or my bitcoins come into public circulation. They sell the coins on the open market.  You can trace blockchain transactions. Some of the mined coins will sooner or later reach the well-known exchange wallets.

And what prevents the miners from hoarding them and deciding not to sell them?

There is nothing stopping them, but what would be their incentive to do so?  Bitcoin mining is not a cheap sport nowadays. They have bills to pay, just like everyone else.
58  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Accumulating Bitcoin or trading Bitcoin which is more wise to do. on: May 03, 2024, 06:57:23 PM
Trading is for those wanting to try timing markets, and holding long-term can work, but enough already with this you cannot lose talk.  Bitcoin is volatile, and no one really knows the road ahead.

Lets be real, stockpiling Bitcoin might make you rich, of course, but nothing is guaranteed. Its a spin of the roulette wheel.
59  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin ETF good or bad? on: May 03, 2024, 06:51:22 PM
The Bitcoin ETF sure seems like a huge development thats for certain.  It will probably drive up interest and prices of not just Bitcoin itself but crypto overall given it adds legitimacy in the view of everyday investors versus the niche internet crowd cryptos largely stuck with up until now.  But the prospect of growing government regulation down the road is dicey, no doubt about it.  We just dont know if lawmakers will clamp down with restrictions or how soon it may happen if so - not a whole lot anyone can do preventatively if regulations get passed ultimately.  Such is the world we live in.
60  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Pi Network. Legitimate or a waste of time? on: May 02, 2024, 07:57:44 PM
~
What are your thoughts on this approach?

Look, I get why folks want to believe in this Pi Network thing.  The idea of mining free crypto on your phone sounds pretty neat and  and hey, who wouldnt want some magical internet money for nothing? But lets be real - if it sounds too good to be true, it usually is.

As far as I can tell Pi Network is basically vaporware at this point.  They make all these fancy claims about building a cryptocurrency mainnet someday, but its all just promises so far.  And even if they do launch it, what guarantee is there that the coins will have any value? You cant actually use Pi for anything right now.

Plus, I gotta wonder what exactly they are doing digging around in people's phones in the name of mining.  That sets off some alarm bells for me.  Legit cryptocurrencies dont work that way for a reason - it opens up security risks and privacy concerns.

Maybe Im being too cynical here.  ButUntil I see some real proof that Pi Network is more than smoke and mirrors Im not going to waste my time on it.
