41  Economy / Economics / Re: INDIA: Draft Law Proposes 10-year Jail Term for Dealing in Cryptocurrency on: June 17, 2019, 03:59:53 PM
I don't believe such a law will ever come into effect. Regulation? yes, for sure. Total prohibition? No way, no government would shoot itself in its legs in such a manner, especially a country that has so many talented tech developers as India and can profit so much from the Blockchain revolution.
42  Economy / Economics / Re: THE BITCOINS AND THE UNDERDEVELOPED WORLD on: June 17, 2019, 03:42:26 PM
Bitcoin is of course a huge advance as it makes transfers of money faster, safer and cheaper, and it can easily undercut the middlemen known as NGOs, who seize a very large % of the donations by paying their boards huge salaries, paying bribes, etc. But of course there still needs to be some control at the destination to make sure your donation is used for what it was originally intended.

For places without easy access to internet several African companies have developed mobile payment systems; users only need to have a mobile phone and they can use it to easily store money or pay for goods or services. I don't know whether there is already a gateway between these systems and crypto but I think it it would be the way to go.

La verdad es que es increíble el acoso al que se somete a los ciudadanos de EEUU. Y según tengo entendido ni siquiera pueden librarse de estas restricciones si abandonan el país, tienen que renunciar completamente a su nacionalidad (u obtener otra adicional).
44  Economy / Economics / Re: Are there any communists in this forum? Is it compatible with crypto? on: June 17, 2019, 01:12:06 PM
Dude, if you think about such things, then you have a lot of free time. In this regard, I can only envy you. I think that Marx’s communism and the communism that they tried to implement in the USSR and other countries are different things. I did not go deep into the study of the works of Marx, but I can definitely say that he did not assume complete government control over people. Capitalism in this regard is not much different from communism now. Especially in countries such as the United States where the state is closely watching your citizens, but unlike communism, it is much more liberal about people’s freedoms.

You are right in that Marx's ideology and what it later became are two different things. But it happens with every doctrine, there is a (utopic) theory and then there is an implementation in the real world. Any collective ideology requires some sort of coertion by the government, because the moment that someone wants to "opt out" and can't be convinced in a friendly way to stay he will need to be forced somehow or otherwise the whole idea collapses.

The current totalitarian government control in the US and Europe (which unfortunately is also quickly eroding personal freedom for the sake of "political correctness") has nothing to do with capitalism though, it's more about an ever-growing state apparatus that feeds on taxpayers and needs to suck out all of their blood to survive, which requires full control of all financial movements.

46  Economy / Economics / Re: Do you need cash for everyday use? on: June 13, 2019, 09:24:27 AM
Cash is still needed until crypto adoption becomes mainstream. If you don't want the Big Brother knowing about every single one of your moves it's the only way to go. I'm really terrified of the direction many EU countries are taking, where they plan to completely eliminate cash (such as Sweden).
47  Economy / Economics / Are there any communists in this forum? Is it compatible with crypto? on: June 12, 2019, 09:07:44 PM
In my opinion crypto maximalism (which implies libertarianism, freedom from state's control of our money) is not compatible with being a communist or even a socialist, as the implementation of these systems requires always some kind of force being applied by the state to "redistribute" wealth, but maybe someone can prove me wrong.

48  Economy / Economics / Re: The Continuous Printing of Money on: June 12, 2019, 08:56:19 PM
Once an Argentinian friend told me: "if you want to be successful in Argentina, you save in USD and you take loans in Pesos". And he was doing quite well with this simple rule. Sure, he was relatively wealthy and in a position to apply this, but also some lower-middle class people took advantage of the rampant inflation by maxxing out their credit cards (in many places they were offering 0% loans if you purchased certain stuff) buying things with a value that doesn't depreciate, paying the instalments (the last ones were a lot easier to pay) and at the end reselling the item at its original value + inflation.

I have never seen so many highly creative people (financially speaking) as in Argentina. I guess they don't have a choice and grow up with these things.

50  Economy / Economics / Re: In the future, will fiat currencies be necessary in the world? on: June 12, 2019, 08:38:47 PM
To answer this with precision I need to ask the following question: are stablecoins (with a value tied to a physical currency) to be considered fiat?

Because the main problem of crypto (price instability) is being solved with stablecoins. Of course, this brings in new issues such as the need to trust a third party to back the coins with something, but that is a different matter. The fact is that you can hodl BTC, ETH or whatever you wish and from time to time buy some stablecoins to carry around in a mobile wallet and pay for everyday stuff, without the need to have a bank account, credit/debit card or cash in hand.
51  Economy / Economics / Re: How Will FB Coin/JPM Coin Impact the Cryptocurrency Ecosystem? on: June 12, 2019, 08:32:37 PM
We're talking about late arrivals, centralized coins with no real added value for the user, controlled by evil corporations. Sure, some people will make some tidy profits but in overall the crypto ecosystem won't give a damn.
52  Economy / Economics / Re: Which form of investment has highest ROI? on: June 12, 2019, 08:29:00 PM
Can we even compare real estates with crypto? First for real estates you need money, a lot of money, with crypto you can start with 10$. Just a reminder, if you invested 10 dollars in bitcoin 9 years ago, now you are probably a millionaire, can you compare that with anything? No you can`t! It`s the best investment ever, if you think that this is the end, you are wrong, I think in next 5 years bitcoin, along with some other coins, will be more profitable than any other type of investment.

Obviously their nature is different, but with the upcome of tokenization you don't need a lot of capital to invest in real estate. Just purchase tiny bits of properties that are rented out for a good ROI and build up a dividend portfolio. This is not a reality just yet, mainly for the lack of properties available (due to extremely complicated regulations in most jurisdictions, frequent restrictions to small investors, etc.) and the lack of liquidity for these tokens, but I'm 100% sure it will eventually happen. Real estate is by far the largest market in capitalization in the world.

Menudos caraduras.

54  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: A bitcoin debit card comparison site that actually compares bitcoin debit cards on: June 12, 2019, 08:05:28 PM
It's a good thing you're doing, but these cards are not shipped around the world. they are only for a small group of countries. So it's not good news for the whole community.

This means that it will be years from

Advcash is in the section "Non-Working Crypto Debit Cards"

Currenlty the only one available worldwide is Paycent
55  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: A bitcoin debit card comparison site that actually compares bitcoin debit cards on: June 11, 2019, 10:42:27 PM
It is a very useful and much needed resource. I saw some similar sites in the past but with mostly out-of-date information and missing the important points that you target: who can apply, where it can be used. Maybe adding some info on fees would be a plus.
56  Local / Mercado y Economía / Re: Mejor Opción... Inversión en Bienes y Raíces ó Bitcoin on: June 11, 2019, 01:27:56 PM

I don`t understand this stuff I am a farm boy, I work, plant seed, create life, create value, bring it to market, sell for scam money that I buy other stuff with, sometimes I just trade the fruit for other stuff. I don`t understand all this stuff, please helpa me.
The tweet you see there is just as it is, they have already explained it all. Trumps comments are what's keeping the stock market stable, that's what they are saying. But I don't get what you mean by producing and selling your farm produce for a scam money?? What are exactly are you calling scam money?? Is it fiat?? Sorry but that shows you know nothing, because there is nothing as such. Even the cryptocurrency you're talking about that you think is best is very volatile. If you think the dollar you're using is a scam then why not switch to cryptocurrency and stop making use of fiat? I know you wouldn't, because you know that you can wake up the next day and all your money are gone.

Any person who wants to sell his produce in a global market today needs to accept fiat payments (unfortunately). You may be able to sell a few fruits here and there with crypto but at a larger scale it just doesn't work yet. I believe what he means with "scam money" is a centralized currency that you don't control, and that any day can be easily confiscated by the emitter (not the case with crypto).
59  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Our crazy crypto story these past couple years on: June 11, 2019, 09:21:11 AM
First of all, congratulations on your success. It's a great feat and that's exactly how a start-up should begin: on a shoestring, optimizing every single resource.

The ICO boom in 2017 and beginning of 2018 didn't do much good to the startup scene in general, as you mentioned lots of people without any solid plan or knowledge managed to raise millions and were either completely clueless about what to do with these funds or outright scammers who just wanted a quick money grab. This has made it much more difficult for serious projects to raise capital from the general public today as so many people got burned by ICOs and most investment is now being provided by the usual big players (VCs, angel investors, etc.).

I was an early supporter of Storj and held the tokens for a long time but I eventually stepped out after seeing many things I didn't like. I find it really awesome that you forked their code and managed to come out with a product much faster than them  Grin

Well, the fact that the customer funds are NOT considered company assets to liquidate brings a bit of hope, but to be honest I'm expecting the worst outcome: funds long sold, hacked, keys lost forever... I've already written it off, if in a few years I get something back I'll just donate it all to a good cause Smiley
