I just saw in the slack channel that wagerr-twitter reposted a post supporting white nationalism? Why has this made it on to twitter although it appears to have since been removed. It can still be found in the slack channel as it was deleted on twitter. I don't know how I feel about supporting a company who would post these things.

That is not Wagerr's Twitter account

Student Job Market Startup bitJob Connects with UK ATM Company

http://bitcoinist.com/student-job-market-startup-bitjob-connects-uk-atm-company/

Student work marketplace bitJob have this week announced a collaboration deal with BCB ATM UK. This will effectively provide a convenient ‘Point Of Exit’ for students (in the UK at least), wishing to cash out their earnings for jobs undertaken through the service.

So What’s a bitJob?

In an ever more competitive job market, University leavers need relevant work experience just to get a foot in the door. Not to mention the fact that some extra cash to fund that fancy student lifestyle wouldn’t go amiss.

At the same time, many employers find it hard to source reliable, skilled and cost effective talent. This is especially true for short term contracts and piecework.

bitJob aims to sit squarely between the two camps and play matchmaker. Students will build a Dynamic Portfolio Resume (DPR) of the work undertaken. This can also be used to apply for graduate positions outside of the service. Employers can view this DPR along with a students reputation profile, to help choose the right candidate.

bitJob Co-founder and CMO Elad Kofman explains:

Quote
Our solution is to connect students with employers for short term jobs online, so they can then continue to specialize in their relevant profession and also make a decent living throughout their academic period!

Show Me the Money

Students can use the service for free and are paid in bitJob tokens (STU) on completion of work. The tokens are being developed on the Ethereum blockchain, and there will also be an option for employers to make payments in Fiat via PayPal.

To encourage participation and promotion within universities, the students’ unions will receive a commission on each transaction through an affiliate program. This will come from fees paid by employers who use the service.

STU tokens will also be available for trade by investors, and the company is currently undertaking funding at the Pre-ICO stage. Pre-sale investors are even being offered a free Trezor hardware wallet.

More information on the service is available in the whitepaper.

And What Can I do with STU?

Outlets on campus will be encouraged to accept STU tokens for items and services such as coffee, study materials, haircuts, etc. As uptake of the program grows, this will open them up to new markets.

Students and investors will also be able to convert STU tokens on exchanges, and bitJob intends to maximize the number of exchanges on which this is possible. It will also be possible to transfer STU to other students (e.g. for that pint your mate had to lend you the money for last night).

Finally, with this weeks announcement, UK students will be able to use their STU to withdraw cash from ATM machines run by BCB ATM UK. And as we all know, for students, nothing talks quite like hard cash.

Landry Ntahe, BCB ATM UK Head of Operations, states:

Quote
We aim to facilitate users on the Bitjob platform the means to exchange tokens across the UK through our BCB ATM’s

¡Suerte!

674  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][ICO] Stox - Prediction market platform | Token sale starts on August 2! on: July 31, 2017, 09:55:20 PM
In terms of marketing this project Stox team has done exceptionally well, and i think the token sale will be very fast but then come to delivering on their promise, I have seen Augus and Gnosis and I don't know what Stox project offers that is different from the two

Fron the whitepaper:

Augur

Augur is a hub for market making activity, giving ample focus to generating data and testing
prediction market theory in an applied setting but with a declaratively purist approach. For
example, Augur’s oracle system is completely decentralized which is fully aligned with the ideals of
a truly trustless and fair system. The trade-off of this approach is that events are slow (8 weeks) to
resolve and the feedback cycle for event participants becomes impractical for most mainstream
audiences looking for a viable investment channel.

Gnosis

Gnosis, on the other hand, positions itself as a platform for building decentralized prediction
market applications with focus on the production of actionable information. The project looks far
beyond the trade engine and the economy of prediction markets as a business, and declares a
mission of transforming the large set of prediction market data points into meaningful information
that can be utilized by human and AI decision-making agents. The end goal revolves around
knowledge - making it simpler and easier for users to gain insights into complex topics and make
more well-informed decisions. This focus opens up a diverse world of indirect applications for
prediction markets such as insurance and asset hedging.

Stox

Stox is designed, first and foremost, as a practical framework for mainstream investments in
prediction markets. Several key factors in its structure were put in place to accommodate proven
business practices in distribution and operation of prediction markets, for example:
• Smart contracts that process syndication fees, enabling incumbent marketing channels and
cross promotion of events between different providers;
• Smart contract support for promotional credit, enabling marketers to lock tokens for use with a
specific provider and limiting their lifetime;
• Capital requirements on operators are aligned with common regulator requirements for MSBs
and betting licenses;
• Quick event resolution, separate from dispute processing;
• A liquidity-sensitive market maker, curbing the operator’s need to predict amount of activity in
an event for determining the optimal market-maker deposit
The focus of Stox is to create a sustainable economy revolving around a functioning prediction
market where investors can find refuge from traditional financial instruments and participate in
prediction events with the purpose of making profit. Stox views prediction markets as a business,
where those who possess information of a greater quality and are able to make better informed
decisions can leverage this knowledge for personal material gain by investing STX in event
outcomes.

675  Other / Politics & Society / Re: The strategic mistake of the West on: July 30, 2017, 10:35:42 PM
Russia and the EU are not that different. EU is becoming the new USSR at a huge speed: every few day new laws limiting freedom of speech are introduced, civil rights and financial liberties are being cut off (states are pushing for the abolition of cash in order to track every single transaction of every citizen), loud minorities are being given unjustified privileges, states take up more and more debt and and taxes keep rising constantly in order to keep up with the repayments and to pay the ever-increasing salaries of the bureaucrats in every level.

And of course democracy (if it ever existed) is long gone. National states are subjected to whatever the unelected politicians in Brussels decide and if some states dare to go against their orders (like Hungary or Poland) they will be threatened, blackmailed, and of course ridiculed by all the mass media.

At least Russia somehow tries somehow to maintain its national identity and to protect its culture and traditions. In Europe it is more and more seen as something to abolish in favor of multiculturalism or to disregard as anachronic.
676  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Where would society be without the internet? on: July 30, 2017, 10:25:44 PM
Flash back to the 1950's and you'd know exactly what it is like. No moon missions and no world communications via satellites eh?

No need to go so far. I was born in 1980 and there was no Internet in my childhood/teenage years (well, it existed, but virtually nobody had access). We socialized a lot more than todays children/teens, when we wanted to meet someone we would just show up at their place or call the landline and ask their parents if they were home and if we wanted to pick up a girl we had to go straight up face to face (no dating apps or anything similar).

It seems like Internet has made a huge impact on social interactions; I'm not saying it is all bad because it does allow a lot of people to socialize with like-minded persons all around the globe (which was previously unthinkable), but social customs which have been standard for centuries seem to be disappearing in just a few decades. And of course it has enabled lots of positive advances (universal access to information being for me the most important one).

680  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [ICO] DIMCOIN The Future Of Equity on the Blockchain (FULL) on: July 27, 2017, 03:35:33 PM
Probably this question has been answered before, but I can't find it right now: I invested using NEM so I was never asked for an email address, and now I see on the DIM site "every participant will be contacted via email".

What do I have to do? Where can I register?

Nobody can answer this question?

So far, the payout comes in waves. So you will not get an email immediately when you make a investment. You will have to wait until nearing the next payout date to ask for your dimcoin wallets. Also do take note that there may be a delay as they are paying out manually. I got mine 5 days later as compare to the 1st person.

Thank you, the DIMCoin team got back to me personally and cleared up the issue very professionally. I look forward to the future developments of this project  Smiley
