1021  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: official scammer request: tealover on: January 08, 2014, 10:11:40 AM
tealover is back and active, thehun now owns this debt, but I thought I would bump the thread... are scammer tags still being handed out?

I contacted the guy and all he replied was "fat chance", so I don't think he ever had any intention to pay.
1022  Bitcoin / Mining support / Windows failing to recognize GPUs from second PSU on: January 07, 2014, 12:55:24 PM
I currently have 4 Sapphire 7950s connected to my Z77A-GD65 MB, one plugged and 3 with powered risers. The plugged one and one of the rised GPUs are connected to the same PSU that powers the board, and the second PSU has pins 4 and 5 shorted and voltages are ok (measeured with multimeter). The fans spin but Windows just doesn't see the cards connected to the second PSU (the others work fine). Is there something I should consider?

I am using Corsair CX750 PSUs.

Cheers

Very interesting thread, as I am also in the process of fine-tuning my Sapphire 7950s (currently only 2 are active as the other 2 are for some reason not being detected).

I have found that setting a low TC (suck as 8961) gives me a very high number of HW errors, reducing my WU to around 150/m. Setting TC to maximum of 24000 virtually eliminates HW errors and WU stays stable at around 1080/m.

Setting I=20, P=18, mem=1350,  engine=1000 at launch I got between 575 to 585 KH stable

until now the best results have been achieved with M=1500 and E=1110, achieving around 610 KH/s.

I still don't understand how some people can get hashrates of 700 KH/s with the 7950s  Huh

1024  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Newbie trying to set up a 6x7950 rig on: January 07, 2014, 01:03:11 AM
Ok after reading a bit I have shorted pins 4 and 5 and measured the voltages with a multimeter. Everything is plugged, I try to start the system with 4 7950s (one plugged into the MB and 3 with risers) but nothing happens. The screen stays blank and the CPU cycle LEDs of the Z77A board are off (except the first two). The digits on the debug LCD move between "30" and "33"

Answering myself again... it turns out multi-monitor support was disabled on my board and coincidentally the wifi also got disconfigured (no remote access) so it was just the VGA output getting disabled every time I plugged a GPU.

Now all I have to solve is why the GPUs connected to PSU #2 with the jumped pins aren't being detected by Windows (even though they are powered with fans spinning). Hopefully I can figure it out before my wife decides to move out (I hoped to set this up a lot faster and now I've been completely absent for the last days with this).  Embarrassed

Thanks, I start to see the light now. I'll be quite happy for the moment if I can get 4 GPUs to work, only then I'll start investigating how to use all 6 Smiley

I have Corsair CX750s (the cheapest category I think).

The only thing which ATM is not 100% clear is how I have to jumper the pins for the second PSU. I have seen there is a device called Add2PSU which solves this, do you think it's not necessary?

If you want it to turn on with the mobo connected supply, wire the same green PS_ON pin from the mobo supply to your second supply's PS_ON pin, along with one of the adjacent COM (ground) pins.  This is how the cablesaurus adapter works.

If I could get an adapter delivered here fast enough (which isn't the case) I wouldn't mind paying for it to have it done the "clean" way, but I guess I'll have to make this work the "dirty" way

On the top of the larger ATX black plastic male (where the clippy bit is), pins 4 & 5 are what you want to push a paperclip into.

The apply some electrical tap around to hold in place.

I'm having trouble keeping the clip in place as the second connector is in the air (it is all quite flabby and the contact is weak). Is there maybe a way to short two pins to keep the second PSU in "always on" mode while I await for my Add2PSU to arrive? maybe pin PS_ON to +5 or +3.3?

How is the venture going so far? What's the status report so to speak?

It's been amazing, all of the group buy owners have made significant profit and our next venture which we are releasing the terms of shortly will make even greater returns for all of our investors in the next round! Stay tuned.

-Adeel

I'd like to hear from the shareholders not the organizer: How has the venture been for you? What's your status report as a shareholder? Have you made ROI yet, in fiat as well as btc?

I can confirm that the management has been very professional and that the fiat ROI has been very satisfactory. If we haven't/won't make a return in BTC it is in no way Adeel's fault, but a combination of delays on KnC's side and enormous increases of difficulty.

1029  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Multipool.us not showing hashrate on: January 05, 2014, 09:34:19 PM
I have started mining using 2x7950s and although cgminer shows roughly 600KH per card, multipool is now at 0 H/s. Initially DOGE hashrate was 150KH but then it slowly started going down, all the way to 0 (currently mining MNC).

I'm guessing this has something to do with the pool, right? What other multipools are there? Or is it better to just stick to mining a single coin?
1030  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Newbie trying to set up a 6x7950 rig on: January 05, 2014, 08:24:28 PM
The cards will not start up if you do not connect power to the molex connector on the riser.  You must connect to every power connector on the cards, using splitters or adapters.

Why on earth would you use a pcie to molex adapter to power the riser?Huh? Just use the molex connector on the power supply

Thanks, so I understand I need to get some splitters to power all cards. The PSU doesn't have any molex connectors.

Ok I think I have just answered myself and found the molex connectors, which simply look different to what I am used to seeing  Tongue

1032  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Newbie trying to set up a 6x7950 rig on: January 05, 2014, 12:37:35 AM
Hi,

I have got eveything needed to operate a 6x7950 rig, with powered 1x to 16x riser cables. I have 2 different setups:

- one with Win 8 pro loaded on an external HD
- one with Xubuntu on a USB drive

and right now I can't get either of them to detect my GPUs (currently only 2 are connected). I'm not sure if I've connected them properly: I plugged 2 6-pin power cables into each of them but not the molex connector of the riser.

I have the following doubts at this moment:
- How am I supposed to power 6 GPUs with the 2x750W Corsair PSUs if each of them only has 4 6-pin PCI-e outputs. Can a card work with only one of these?
- I guess I need a PCI-e to molex adapter to power the risers. In this case, can I disconnect one or both of the PCI-e power supplies of the GPU?
- Do powered risers also work in non-powered mode?

Sorry if some of these questions are a bit silly but I'm still digesting all the information that's out there and can't see the light.

Cheers

So in case of getting refunds, will these be the amount of BTC paid or the equivalent in fiat at the time of payment? In the second case, we would have every reason to be really pissed off.

I finally placed an order at www.meitk.com. $8 per cable + $36 for fast DHL shipping. Should be  here in 3-4 days

I posted this the other day, however with all the white noise on here it glossed over.

Does anyone have any comments or opinions on this?
The dates seem to fit quite nicely with our speculated timeline.

It's shot up from ~9Th/s on the 24Dec13 to ~162 Th/s as of today.

Sorry for going out on a limb here and probably being over-optimistic but....

Is there anyway that this could be ActiveMining testing equipment?
http://eligius.st/~wizkid057/newstats/userstats.php/1Nbq2XZaRsKknf5fcT2wTXvBS31PaUWSeX

Or on the flip side

Is there any definitive proof that it is impossible for this to be an ActM farm?
(And no, I don't want to hear that it can't be ActM because it's a scam etc...)

On this thread https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=386532.0 people were speculating it could belong to HashFast... who knows?
1036  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Where to buy riser cables in the EU (or US) at a decent price on: December 19, 2013, 12:03:22 PM
I have found the following riser cable for 12.98€ on Amazon

http://www.amazon.de/Converter-Extender-Flexible-Extension-Connector/dp/B00HB1T54S/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1387444191&sr=8-2&keywords=riser+1x+16x

However, it is sent from China and I don't feel like waiting up to a month for delivery (+ hassles with customs). The prices I've found in the EU are a lot higher though (over 30€ each). Do you know of any shops or sellers who sell these cables at decent prices?

Cheers

I don't understand. I have logged in but all I see is a statement of my stuck balance and how much is available, but no button to withdraw anything.  Huh

Initially that was the case for me too. Then I closed the tab and logged in again and the withdraw option was there. I could withdraw and I am now waiting for the confirmations.

Yep after trying again it worked.
