41  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: There is no crypto version of Cloudflare? on: May 16, 2024, 02:16:12 PM
Soon as I read OP I realised "crypto version of Cloudflare" isn't what I thought it meant. I thought it meant a blockchain-based version (or at least, a less private form of distributed serving).

I seem to recall during one of the latter revival attempts for Namecoin, which was a "crypto version" of DNS (curiously it still seems like you can do it now) that were was a project trying to replicate Cloudflare on a decentralised blockchain. Trying to look it up but can't find it.

I think Telegram also tried to do both (DNS and content delivery).

Am sure one or more of these projects survived (yes, I'm asking if anyone knows).

Claimed 1 spot back and looking good to keep it, maybe even in a shout to challenge Saint-loup for 3rd. Omikfuse keeping his advantage intact, he'll deservedly walk away with a huge prize. Joca97 safe in top3 as well.

__________________________

United is a really badly assembled team but I like Kobbie Mainoo a lot. I say that every time I watch him play, the kid's got superstar potential.

I like that kid too, surprised to say I've watched quite a few United games in flashes and when he plays, the team just look more exciting. Just hope they instil enough discipline in him so he doesn't go Rashford (someone I still like, just struggle to understand his recent decisions, he's not a teen anymore).

Early well done to the Top 5s, you're all pretty much guaranteed to walk away with something decent here.
43  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Odds, units advantage | Sportsbook | +97043 units on: May 15, 2024, 07:09:46 PM
Well, I will end this season in disgrace. Losing badly and not learning my lesson.

And if you think I'll be looking to cut losses, or at least bet on good teams, you're wrong.

Love the bet on Spurs !

Yep I'd rather you stay with this type of betting pattern atleast until the season ends though so we could get the overall statistics from this pattern. Anyway Im just throwing this out here but are you continuing with this pattern as well after the season ends ? Euro is coming on June though so Im kinda wondering if you will stick with this on Euro

Thank you for following the thread! You may not know this but it used to be almost every other day in the first few seasons but real life has gotten to a point where I'm short on time and can't really hunt around for value...

... which brings me to the point of this thread, which is actually to look for value. Comparing odds on books, and benefitting from the extra units from a promotion or simply, on features like boosts, or just on a market that's oversized the other way. At the top of this thread you see the units count almost at 100000. An average bet here in 100 units. That's almost 100 times more value over 5 seasons of betting, if you just make sure you use the book that has the best odds. The longer the odds, the bigger the value, usually.

But to answer your questions:
- yes, the pattern is always the same.
- And yes, if I have time here for Euros, it will feature here. Traditionally, this thread season ends with Champions League final and starts with English Charity Shield.
- Pattern explained simply: Majority long odds on a single market (there's where the biggest value is, especially with price boosts). I do play around with accas but as Trofo and others have pointed out in the past, that's not my strong suit and I should stick to value underdogs.

=====

I suspect, with discipline, and a bigger sample, you generally should come out on top.

a. On anecdotal experience this season, I have done well on some bets I didn't post here -- mainly because I didn't have time, or I simply wasn't sure if I actually did snag the best odds. Saudi Arabia 22/1 during the World Cup was an example! I was too busy watching the game!

b. The evidence supporting this theory of a bigger sample is from early seasons where I probably posted almost every value bet I identified (you can refer to OP for historical results and links):
350 bets in S01 (81% profit)
435 bets in S02 (122% profit)
429 bets in S03 (101% profit)
139 bets in S04 (0.38% profit
And only 86 bets so far in this 5th season. Which will be a losing season of almost -50% of the 10,000 unit bankroll so far.

KTChampions will agree with me here, because the odds are long, if we correlate odds with probability, I should experience more wins on a larger sample, 86 bets is too small to allow for variance. So this pattern works... but only if you are diligent with studying for value and taking those value bets.

That all said, I return once more to the original purpose of the thread, which isn't about profit or loss, but about gaining value. Expressed overall by the Units Advantage tally =) A secondary purpose was to create a true "tipster" thread that not only accumulated data over years, but retained proof of the bets (sadly, most links no longer work with defunct books or expired betslips but the post itself I think is a good historical record), and tracked actual bankroll. I only ever saw tipsters with cherry-picked bets, or with win percentage -- which is absolutely useless without bankroll tracking.

Thank you for your questions, I enjoy discussions on this the way people like trading haha.

Newcastle specials look good, go get them guys!

Pretty crazy that Sportsbet is into poker now -- you seldom hear of an online gaming brand then venturing into physical. It does happen the other way around, and a crypto brand at that! Just looked at the live stream of Day 1, Event #1 25K NLH -- never going to get bored seeing Sportsbet everywhere!

Wow! Thanks for the link, @buwaytress! I think I know what I'm watching tonight.

When I first saw your post I went to Sportsbet.io immediately to look for poker tables, and after not finding any, went back here to read you post further. So, it's a link to the live stream. Amazing! Just can't wan't wait when I can start watching it!

I remember playing poker on Sportsbet.io several years ago. I even remember winning some good prizes in a Sportsbet.io sponsored tournament. Those were the days!

You won't believe I was watching an entire match of cricket today. BSFL and Sportsbet are to blame for me actually tuning into sports I would never, ever have considered before. Wasn't my first time and it was a relatively short 90 minutes or so -- compared to marathons I've tuned into over the years, but I still blame Sportsbet for the itch. Commentary is huge in football for me, but have to say, even more so in cricket.

I remember that tournament, didn't do well... I played several here and offline in youth, but never anything serious. One of my most memorable was with about 12 colleagues many years ago. Everyone got stranded in our house for the night, so what did we do? Massive poker with all our available cash. It was "partner" poker too, so you each have an observer who helps to bluff the whole table. My partner had a mothering reputation but her acting face was so effective, we bluffed our way to 2nd, and agreed to call it quits when the sun came up. That was fun.

What have you done guys @Charaf_chenina and @buwaytress, My freebies clean sheet have finally been broken, I receive a free pass for the first time in BSFL, I however would have preffered to win rather more fairly... But I'll take the free pass anyways  Cheesy Cheesy

I know, it took a while to sink in too -- in fact if someone hadn't asked me about it later, I might have only realised it much, much later, maybe even during the Spurs game.

Real life can be a real bitch. I've made it on previous rounds in tougher circumstances though; in this case, it was distraction rather than preoccupation.

Good luck, cup bois!

Must say, I am enjoying one free week more than I should. Seems like Div 1 pressure got to me  Grin

I must concur, it's strange to be not checking the sheets over and over.

Sorry to spoil the article =p
46  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Crackdown on mixers and privacy tools is ineffective: it may even help criminals on: May 15, 2024, 12:15:14 PM
Great points, and I think it serves a question, but probably not the right question. I don't think these crackdowns are to deter criminals. They know who they were pursuing, and they wanted them down, so they clamped down on whomever and whatever they thought were connected.

The bigwigs surely know since Silk Road crypto makes up a tiny fraction of all money laundering. They also surely know by now, after capturing so many mixers, they've not got hordes of criminals, but the one or two they were pursuing. This is probably why they haven't outright cracked down on every mixer, everywhere.

The accompanying ridiculousness of litigation, and perhaps later, blanket bans, etc are simply tying up procedure, not policy. Could be wrong, but that's I think the reality of the situation. It isn't as philosophical or as existential as even I wondered at first.

I announce myself humbly, prostrate before the council of BSFL, and offer myself at the altar of shame for allowing Hhampuz a free pass.

'Twas not my lack of intent, but rather, a lack of team discipline and determination caused by my own lack of foresight. My team had their orders, but the nightclubs in Zagreb proved too enticing for my academy players, first time out of Borneo and thrust into BSFL continental cup, I should have known they would fall prey.

To allay your fears, no, I did not accept grease from the nasty mafijaških hands of Cro2... or did I..?

Well, I will end this season in disgrace. Losing badly and not learning my lesson.

And if you think I'll be looking to cut losses, or at least bet on good teams, you're wrong. We have Spurs, who stand in the way of City's impending title. Such a horrible team, and the odds are poor value, but let's go out with a bang of a whimper!

300 units at Sportsbet on Spurs to WIN vs City @6.99. Other odds: 6.45.
Units advantage: 162

Running advantage after 86 bets: +8498 (+162)
All-time cumulative: +98,268
Running units after 85 bets (6W|79L): -4329 (-200)

There's always that forum contest, haven't looked at it on Discord yet but there're always a few interesting entries.

I haven't properly celebrated either on the forum for a couple of years. Think I'll just about look into it, something similar to what I've done before. Pizza's not really hitting my belly though, or by the time it does, I'm too sick.

I'll be back.

The game ended 1 - 1 and from the tour of the grounds it was curious to learn that the pitch has quite an impressive slant on it, so it can feel like playing uphill from one side! Thanks again Steve, hope you meet you again in future

Not just Newcastle, but Eurovision with Steve aswell!! haha, what a day..

Some big promos coming for this Euros.. please guys, get your passports sorted! its going to be a huge year!

That slant's interesting, sure you didn't just give away a Toon secret? Wink

With major events and finals of several sports events coming up in summer (cricket? tennis? F1? Football? Is poker a sports?!), the Cro2-hosted Euros promo, BSFL continuity, I think there is every chance you get new blood joining the Beers and Vanna Tallinn with Steve in future Wink Keep those damn passports close!

Netherlands may not have qualified for '24 EV but Steve is the BTT Europapa...

Heh Liverpool. Robbo didn't play so I should get a sub in, too bad I didn't arrange it right, could have been Walker but I get Anderson (2) haha.

3 goals and Watkins not among them. Damn me.

Raya was on 7 until last minute when he got yellow card for taking a bit long to return the ball. That was -1 point for yellow and dropping out from bonus points. Hate those last second point losses. But better that than clean sheet wipe out  Grin

Hate them a bit less than recalculations like in F1, but yeah, hate that bit of random blemish on an otherwise great game.

What is the best total score we're chasing? 155 or sth like that?

I recall it was over 155 yeah during my highest scoring week. Too lazy to check who it was and won't remember if it's not me or Igehh

No way anybody catches jeremypwr though, this is supremacy!

It's surreal to see him dominate in such a subliminal fashion, especially in La Liga where it's somewhat harder to make the right predictions in my opinion, I usually consider PL and even Serie A to be extremely easier to make predictions compared to La Liga.

Congratulations J!

I knew jeremypwr was ahead, but I've just looked and it's 19 points between 1st and 2nd.

Across all pools in the big leagues in Bitcointalk, it's:
- 6.5 points in the Premier League;
- 8 in Serie A
- 5 in Bundesliga

Excellence. It is our honour and our bad luck to be competing against #2 globally..!

56  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽UEFA Europa League Discussion Thread -- 2023/24 | SFs on: May 13, 2024, 06:27:49 PM
But they don't even get complacent in the Bundesliga after already declaring the championship.

Hopefully Xabi Alonso maintains the series until the end of the season with 3 championships in hand:

They are the anti-complacency team. 5-0 wipeout and they were actually wasteful with chances!

No matter what happens, though, even if they lose the treble, and only have Bundesliga, they are already a team who have surpassed Arsenal's Invincibles. Sorry Gooners but you guys went a season undefeated in the Prem League but Leverkusen are 50 games unbeaten in ANY competition.

I don't care if they end up losing both cups, they are already the best team Europe has ever seen. Liverpool made a record in England for saving the most points in injury time. But Leverkusen blew that out of the water. Comeback kings.
57  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: May 13, 2024, 03:17:07 PM
It looks like premier league is trying to hard to make the competition more competitive and closing the gap between all the clubs in the league. I am afraid this approach will limit how competitive the EPL will be in Europe, squaring up against clubs that are placed on the pedestal in their leagues.

It's true that success correlates with spending but EPL already accounts for the majority of spending across Europe, so I think some curtailing on that can't be a bad thing. Honestly, if you can't assemble a squad that's competitive in Europe without spending insane money, you shouldn't. We'll just have to trust that La Liga and Serie A will also do the same (I believe the Barca issues are proof of this). PSG will also eventually wind down and give up throwing money at UCL.

Ultimately, money will find a way though.

Does anybody think Spurs has a chance?

I have to think so. There's also West Ham so Moyes could take a final parting shot at City, but honestly, I can't see them dropping any points in these two games. They may struggle to score, but win they will.

Not the guy I want to be facing in the cup, but I suppose it will be a worthy battle if I pass -- bad luck to you, Hhampuz! I'm going to answer tomorrow, or much later this evening. Not in the best of health and feeling like I need a bit of focus to make myself useful.

Also pertinent is that I'm in relegation zone with the two below me having a game in hand. Not a great place to be with only 5 games to go...

Heh, I really should have paid more attention, so few points, but luckily Saliba didn't do as badly as Saka. Clean sheets as Trofo said from Everton was a bit over average but even Raya only got 5 points from his clean sheet.

Would have liked a few more points, now with so few left, I think I'll be stuck in this 3rd place, bottling it as bottlers do. Story of my life, I guess.
