841  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Angry at the high fees? That's what everyone predicted the future will be like! on: November 14, 2023, 04:01:33 PM
Got to agree with OP in a certain way, though I think personally it's less the dollar cost of the fee (although this will for a long time be the focus) but the percentage of the tx amount. So yes, miners will need the fees incentive but if the sat cost becomes too high, it makes it less interesting for me.

To be as objective as possible, me paying 1 mbtc in fees only becomes worthwhile for a 0.1 BTC send. Right now, I'm actually okay with the the 10k sat fee to pay for a 3 input spend of 10 mbtc. But I can imagine it's annoying to spend 1 mbtc for a couple of pizzas now without LN.

Still think the benefit of sending something over such a secure network is well worth the cost. Was hardly ever my issue anyway, LN or my debit card should cover my pizza spends...

Hello on Page 1001! Some kind of special credit that you guys have not only reached quantitative measures but qualitative ones as well. You got the numbers backing your presence and longevity, but the Sportsbet name also has a certain standard of trust on this forum. Some things you just can't buy; that's a testament to the investment (especially of time) you guys have made on this forum.

My favourite forum memory with Sportsbet is one of my earliest. Hard to beat winning a forum contest, getting flown to Doha for the CWC final, meeting SB top dogs super super passionate about crypto. After (lots of) liquid refreshment, heading to the stadium, shouting hoarse over a crazy noisy night wearing Liverpool shirt in the middle of tens of thousands of rowdy Flamengo fans (I was half-afraid to cheer tbh!), and then celebrating the cup late into the night walking in that sea of disappointed Brazilians.

It wasn't even just the football atmosphere, but that Sportsbet's owners actually came down to chow down kebabs and beer on the streets with a complete normie, just because of their passion for bitcointalk and crypto. And then getting to meet Steve all over again later on, meeting up with forum friends? Cherry on top.
843  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Differences between Mixer and BTC->XMR-> ? on: November 13, 2023, 08:43:34 PM
XMR allows you to use more privacy features. Mind you, some of the built-in features can be used with Bitcoin (TOR connection for one, single address use is another). But it won't particularly help just to swap at an exchange and let it sit in your wallet. Particularly if that exchange knows who you are, won't be too hard to make the connection to your original coins.

Do as hugeblack says. Use a DEX, learn to P2P. But employ additional measures to enhance your privacy. Monero alone, even mixers alone, or any tool for that matter, and used improperly, gives you a false sense of sufficiency.
844  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽UEFA Europa League Discussion Thread -- 2023/24 | Qualifiers on: November 13, 2023, 07:24:59 PM
^Ajax is a talent factory. They've relied on producing and grooming talent to sell on and make profits while being just good enough to win a historically less competitive league to qualify for UCL, which brings in further revenues.

They'll always be attractive for young players because of that route -- their problems now are club management and scandal, and eventually not having enough good players to keep making the difference. And I said two seasons ago that they actually need to rethink their strategy. You need to retain players and cultivate a little more instead of churning them out, particularly now that their league competitors are getting much better.

P.S. Yes, yes, I'm trying to get over Liverpool. But better to purge the bad results at group stage with second stringers.

Omifikuse missing the round yet still winning the freebet? If there ever were a reason to enter your pick every time, late or not, this is it. Well done, winners!

So, slackovic, ready to meet my team of mismatched players? I'm 50-50 on Alcaraz, who just lost unexpectedly. That guy is an amazing player but with a fraction of Ruud's consistency, but I'm inclined to trust in him.

You guys won freebets, I already have Ulven and mv1986, so ajiz138 please send me your Rollbit.com usernames asap so we can credit you your freebets =)

I need to apologise here -- I swear I drafted out and even posted the winners of Matchday 4 freebets but apparently, I somehow skipped that part until a reminder came. Heh heh.

I'm a bit too lazy to redo the observations bit, but suffice to say, there was an increase in all-in vets on Pot B, and only a few of them hit -- as the group stages end, I expect more desperation and more such attempts. At your own risk, at your own rewards.

I would like to see the other one as well though - it would be a better gauge of a bettor's form and knowledge, the results in this one will be a bit skewed - especially towards the end of the group stage when risk will be at max levels.

I have a vision of weighted points for a BSFL style selections, but in fantasy mode, assigning points to scenarios.

More like a Betbuilder, but hiding the odds/weight multiplier (so people need to research to find out the likelier/unlikelier outcome).

So for example:
ML outcome: (odds based multiplier)
Choose Scorer: (position-based + price-based multiplier)
Choose player: (price/market value-based + match rating multiplier)

The lower the player value/price, the higher the multiplier.
The farther the position of the player from goal, the higher the multiplier.

OR, instead of multiplier, a cost-based points like fantasy transfer budget. Choose as many scorers or players to count goals and rating, but expensive players cost more points.

I feel that is an even better risk/reward proposition + requires knowledge of the game to know best value players, lineups, etc.

Problem? I ain't got time for that haha.

Well, Chelsea took points off City, what a game, I missed all of it, but pity those who backed them in BSFL and still lost. It's cold here in Div1.

So my team have got to play Buwaytress, jeremypwr, cryptofrka and casperBGD back to back to back without rest, I really don’t know who is in charge of the fixtures scheduling but every plan to have my team players worn out by these successive though fixtures will be thwarted by the management, as they’ve plan to bring in new reinforcements before the transfer windows finally shutdown.

I didn't even really show up so you didn't have to fight so hard, stop complaining! Wink Good job, you made quick work of me, switching players didn't do anything but I'll stick with my reserves + academy for my next round until my seniors make sure they get their fitness levels up.
848  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Sportsbet.io ⚽ Italian Serie A ⚽ Football Pool Discussion Thread 2023/2024 on: November 12, 2023, 03:00:01 PM
If only they lost, after second half performance like that, told myself I will ignore Serie A but Milan looked like too good chance yesterday and of course they killed me a great ticket. Would be much better for me to just forget about this league for some time. Last in the pool, games are unwatchable and teams are just killing my tickets...I mean how many signs must there be before I put whole league on blacklist?

Man, that is a horrible way to go, I know even the insurance doesn't lessen the hurt. Milan really seemed too good to miss, even after the Champs League victory the odds remained value, then they just remind everyone they are overperformers squeezing out the last bits of Giroud. They and Brighton are heavily invested into stats-based players but I think they are letting that cloud game management.

Hope you didn't fall for Napoli. No Osimhen, big problem.
849  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: November 12, 2023, 12:34:27 PM
Destroy Manchester City's setup, send the team's engine (Rodri) back to the hospital, and give Doku a two-week Hamstring injury.

I'm afraid to give Liverpool a win on my ticket after what I saw on Thursday night. The defence is a mess.

Sounds good here, except I never plan on injuries, just prefer them to be fit and shit.

Liverpool's defence always a mess but statically still allowing the league's fewest quality chances so there's that. Also, all due respect to our Irish lad between the sticks, we lost on Thursday because we didn't have a Prem League keeper.
850  Economy / Gambling / Re: 🚀-Sportsbet.io-🚀 Official Partner of Newcastle United Football Club on: November 12, 2023, 10:49:05 AM
^ Under because it's Chelsea. Value bet for me is Chelsea under 1 goal, but you know, that's always thrown out the window when so much is at stake, it's too bad the odds for a City loss aren't as special as I'd like. Still, almost 5/1 feels pretty all right and I like throwing money away, so that's where my stake goes today.

Newcastle need a mini reset, they're probably having more eyes on Europe right now. Beat Milan, beat PSG, done and dusted.
851  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Sportsbet.io ⚽ Italian Serie A ⚽ Football Pool Discussion Thread 2023/2024 on: November 11, 2023, 08:27:03 PM
Milan, biggest laugh of all. Leading by 2 goals. Everything going fine then the drop concentration, concede two, and even manage to get Giroud sent off. They even needed VAR to save them from injury time goal.

Nothing to watch for the rest of the weekend betting wise as I bombed everywhere, so I'll be at least watching tomorrow, between Chelsea and Lazio.
852  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Time to roll-back Ordinals? on: November 11, 2023, 07:02:55 PM
Don't use rollback if you don't know what it means ha.

Look, not a fan of Ordinals but the whole thing demonstrates the thing about Bitcoin. That freedom to use it as you please (and the dealing with the consequences of that).

bitcoin 2009-2017 was never "use it as you please", no one was able to just broadcast a litecoin transaction and have it accepted in a block
things like the 4mb junk WAS not even possible
heck even a tx being more then 20% of the 1mb blockspace was not even a thing before 2017

dont pretend this junk is part of bitcoin. its an abuse of a buggy feature added in recent years. its a abuse not a feature
bitcoin was trusted due to rules.. relaxing them to allow junk is not a feature bitcoin was intended for

Obviously, when I say "use it as you please", within the rules allowed. I didn't say it can be "used for anything you want". I fear now if I host you I should never say "make yourself feel at home" Wink and resort to pedantic communication...

I don't like some things allowable in Bitcoin. I agree with you, there are things I believe constitute abuse. Ordinals right up there with dust spam, if not entirely in intent but in result. But are you saying, let's pretend these things aren't a part of Bitcoin? Pretend abuse isn't a part of any system with rules?

I still think, being a pure normie, these things sort themselves out. If I find it becomes too big a problem, I ditch it. Like I did PayPal for Bitcoin. I'm far, far from there.

but overall questioning myself what is the right name for other team, Bilibili, as in bet, Bilbili, as in question, or Billbili, as slackovic said
although not interested too much in that

If it's even more interesting, probably none of them are correct, as it's impossible to romanise the spelling for names in Mandarin (it's why there are many variations of spelling). Official website is Bilibili though.

Anyone know a good hairdryer supplier? I need to throw them around more.

C'mon, it's the fourth game of the season and I had no idea there was a buwaytress versus Harkorede matchup until now, this isn't how the derby was supposed to be, man! Season one, season two, and now season three, and the old ritual has ended. I haven't seen a single side bet since the start of the season. This is a one-leg game, and you're telling me you're trying to develop chemistry so you can play back when? Season four? This season, Division 2 is garnering more attention than Division 1.

I'm now in two shitty derbies already so far. Won one without pride (walkover), lost one with humiliation. Didn't even check really but now that BVB lost, I remember that's my pick (they had a shot on goal until 80th minute so deserved to lose), I can't bear to check the scoreline but Harko has this for certain.

I must have a sidebet somewhere... just can't remember it haha. Was it with you, Harko?

Of course, in hindsight, my rational brain is chiding me for wagering over $1800 in a few seconds just to get that haha. Nothing lost though, and my FBC balance is just years of clicking indiscriminately and lucky all-ins on Liverpool. All good Wink

Holy hell thats ballsy but atleast you walked away with 124 golden tickets. I really hope that you will walk away with that Lambo as well, promise me that you will pose naked on top of your lambo if you ever get it lol  Roll Eyes. Imagine if you lose all that balance, yeah I know its just probably free balances that you got but it sucks to lose especially on 1.01 odds

Hey, yeah. Ballsy because it's not a deposit I guess, but just all those dust collecting over the years. One of these days that all-in will get me. But it's all fun and games (and I have those FUN on Premium as a consolation).

I promise I won't get the Lambo if I win =p Not like my body is so precious but I might ask for a lot more than $200k for a naked pic immortalised on the internet.

Thanks for your faith ha ha

Look, not a fan of Ordinals but the whole thing demonstrates the thing about Bitcoin. That freedom to use it as you please (and the dealing with the consequences of that). I would wager I'm far more affected by it than you, and that many more users feel the bite, but aren't arbitrarily asking to kill it like you are.

Time will prove utility and when people get bored of contributing to ponzis, ordinal bloat will die a natural death. Or waste away to practical meaningless existence anyway.
856  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [banned mixer] 🦁 Fantasy Premier League Pool ⚽ Discussion Thread on: November 11, 2023, 08:56:44 AM
Right, so I know I cleared out Brighton players because of their slide (I'm with Trofo, don't be tempted by Estupinan once he returns) but now I had to move Maddison out (seems ankle injury is weeks recovery), I thought, okay, fine, let's give Mitoma another chance, surely against the worst team in the league he smacks them good, no?

Largely unchanged, I'm sticking with C Wilson, my hero.

Zero for me last round too. Surprise, surprise? I'm going for a fanciful upset now -- Hee at Wolves is some kind of under so he gets my pick ahead of Son (what?). Hojlund for United to break his duck (wait, I'm backing United?), but who dares omit Haaland when he's available?

Warm your hands up, friends. I'm winning this round.
858  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Odds, units advantage | Sportsbook | +93056 units on: November 10, 2023, 07:31:29 PM
^ I think it was okay too, but the timing wasn't great and he should have been punished, simple. You're right of course, I love United like this. I was very sad when Ole left, and I genuinely feared what ETH might do... but thankfully, the deeper issues never got resolved and that club is as badly run as ever.

On that subject, United is my easy pick, but I'm wondering if we could catch Arsenal at home with some tricky injuries and manager frustration creeping up? Surely 17/1 is too good to pass on Burnley?

100 units each at Sportsbet on:
Burnley to WIN vs Arsenal @16.40. Other odds: 17/1 (I missed out). Bet ID: 6543af544149c60001ffa2bc
Luton to WIN vs United @10.68. Other odds: 9.90. Bet ID: 654e69f54149c600015ed1a7
Units advantage: 78-60=18

Running advantage after 35 bets: +3286 (+18)
All-time cumulative: +93,146
Running units after 33 bets (3W|30L): -712 (-100)

Careful what you say about your underperforming team, Igebotz and notblox1 might be lurking around you know, and that's the last information you'd divulge to them.

cryptofrka is just doing this as a smokescreen to mask the cheating that will come later. Igebotz bad cop lurking.

I think you've won this round, Harko, too disappointed in my new boys to check if we can even possibly try for a draw. For all my luck this season, we might get the equaliser and get it VAR'd out anyway.

Too early to complain but I suppose I have to give back the free points from CLS63...

I'm starting to feel unmotivated to play the co petition with a losing streak I had in the last few weeks. I know that some of you (can't remember who) had a lot of lost rounds in a row in the past so I was wondering how did you stay motivated? I'm not thinking about leaving the competition but I really need to find a different tactic. I don't even mind dropping out to division 2. I just want to start getting more correct answers...

Chin up! Too many rounds left to play =)

I'm thinking myself what to do. I'm okay with 6 points so I shouldn't whine but I'm scoring very, very few points. Might opt to just go for backing favourites across the board odds wise. I do it for non-football questions 50/50 but like to back slight upsets in football. It worked great last season... other way is to look at opponent and predict their preferences (but I hate this idea).
860  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Sportsbet.io ⚽ Bundesliga ⚽ Football Pool Discussion Thread 2023/2024 on: November 10, 2023, 03:45:37 PM
Seems I wasn't the only one who submitted much earlier (yesterday morning a strane feeling came over me and I cleaned Superbru out). I finally went against Freiburg this week, with much pain and hesitation.

Yes but I think what seems to be different this time is their steadiness and unity. The team is impressively well balanced and I think the only threat for them to experience a sustained downturn would be injuries. If they stay together like that and they are lucky enough to retain the core players in a healthy state, I believe that Leverkusen can stand up to Bayern for a long time. The problem is the difference in quality sitting on the bench. Bayern can compensate for injuries and suspensions on the highest level while Leverkusen cannot. At least not on the same level as Bayern.

Leverkusen also doesn't have a lot of luck, the wins are based on their performances and not on some lucky bastard 30 meter shots hitting the angle. That's when they can have a few good results and then luck fades and points along with it, but this doesn't apply to Leverkusen. It is exciting and hopefully we will have some title action until the end of the season.

Maybe it's because I'm a Liverpool supporter but I think Alonso has a huge part in this unity -- he displayed some of it as a player in La Liga, even before that with the Reds. Personally, I think it's a great sign of the times. Just don't be too hopeful, and I hope they assume rational because, as you say, they don't have a deep squad so results will get tougher to obtain past January (injuries, tiredness).
