401  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BFL Jalapeno coins per day in a few months? on: February 11, 2013, 10:31:51 AM
I'd say you'd average at around 0.03BTC per day, if you're lucky.

I believe they offer a possibility to send BTC to them for the USD value of your FPGA gear. They will then immediately send you ASIC. When you get your ASIC, you send the FPGA unit back. When they get it back, they refund your BTC. And the quantity of BTC will be equal to the quantity sent.

I'm beginning to be really curious as to what the hold up is. Proper way to do this is to plan ahead, and plan for errors also.

Has something come up?
Why was hardware ordered after chips and boards arrived?
Haven't any mechanical CAD or thermal analysis been done?

Hope your update is open and detailed. There's no need to keep any secrets at this point.

405  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: The bASIC Refund Tracking Thread on: January 23, 2013, 06:34:13 AM
we have a completed design and wafers that are nearly completed and chips packaged

Well I wouldn't bee so worried about whoever will buy those 16k chips if the wafers are nearly completed but have already been packaged ^^

Maybe it's BFL's Sonny moving fiat to a more easily transportable form for his upcoming trip to Bahamas Smiley
407  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Announcement] Avalon ASIC Ships on: January 22, 2013, 01:32:18 AM
sucker tax Smiley
You mean the negative tax that early adopters with risky pre-orders had?
No I mean the positive one that the greedy ones rushing to avalon will need to pay to get their units. (1299->1499)

Those could be anyone's chips!

Seriously speaking, congratulations Team Avalon!

Well, now that Avalon apparently shipped, would you like to give an estimate on when we start hashing and how many TH/s are we looking at?

Yay! Thanks for fixing proofofstake.com! Don't have my PPC with me (I'm traveling) but will send some when I get back home!

Market is in some sort of 'crash' mode for the day, bitparking has volume over 1.5m as of now, meaning more than 10% of the total ppcoin changed hands today.

On one hand it shows healthy depth of the market, but this drop does feel somewhat abnormal. I will be monitoring the network closely in the next few days.

If you notice any abnormal events on the network please let me know.

I'm not at all surprised by the crash given your weekly update #20. Weekly updates #13 and #14 also warned of high volatility, and resulted in dumping and nearly 20% drop in PPC/BTC exchange rate. BTC/USD rally probably fueled it quite a bit also.

Update would be nice.
414  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: bad news for bASIC - not shipping til mid Jan at best on: January 10, 2013, 05:54:11 PM
You're doing great job advertising your company "pacific bliss". Just because you're panicing doesn't make you right. Tom has honored refunds before. He had thousands of orders. They're not able to handle them in a few days. Just chill like the man in your avatar and you will get your refund in a few days. And regarding your demands of receiving BTC, was the price on the site in BTC? No? Well, then you're out of luck. Your BTC was processed by BitPay, and credited to Tom in USD. Tom can refund you in BTC, but that will probably be through BitPay as well.

The arguments you tried to use for justifying a refund in BTC because BTC happened to rise in value as time passed (and that you would've held those in BTC if you hadn't ordered from Tom), is like demanding Tesla motors to refund your downpayment for a Tesla Roadster to be paid back in same amount of Apple stocks that you had to sell when you made your downpayment.

I imagine they've blown through at least a million bux at this point in masksets alone.

This has been my concern as well. They went the risky route, and got burned maybe even twice. They might be in a situation where they need more orders to be able to pay the fab, hence the delays.

Believe me, I'd be as skeptical as you are if BFL had not previously delivered good working products.  Absolutely NOTHING from them has shown me that they are operating any kind of con.  EVERYTHING points to them just having things go wrong in the design/production process.  I am not surprised that they delayed past their expected date - it was a "best case scenario" date.  Certainly, you are entitled to your opinion that they are a scam, but I have seen zero indicators of such that cannot also be representative of a small company experiencing a few setbacks.

I agree they don't appear to be intentionally trying to scam anyone, but they're inexperienced in ASIC design and have been reluctant to answer certain details. I think it's probable that things went wrong in a way they couldn't predict. And despite what Josh tells us about their "money in the bank" and "not using preorder funds" to fund NRE.. I'm almost certain that Josh has no access to their bank account or balance sheet. What worries me is that the man with the access to those might the one with a shady history. No one wants to break the bad news to everyone.. You saw what it did to Tom..

If the chips haven't been paid for, and there really isn't enough money to get them finished, they'd be in a situation where every delay and bad news causes more and more people to cancel, further deepening their deficit of funds to actually deliver those products... and you probably understand where that ends.

They should send these to all those with preorders. Even a stopped clock gives the right time twice a day Smiley

A bit worrying that two people with enough shares to be on the board want to sell their shares now.
420  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER: Entering the Future of ASIC Mining by Inventing It on: January 03, 2013, 08:21:41 AM
It is a shame that the shares are not actively trading so we could see the price jump upward on this news.

True, this devalues it for everyone.

This does absolutely nothing to devalue these shares. If you want to quickly sell yours, I'm willing to buy them.
