401  Economy / Lending / Re: 35 BTC loan on: July 28, 2012, 09:51:36 PM
I have spoken with two lenders to make this happen.
senbonzakura-10 BTC (one month)
PatrickHarnett- 25 BTC (two months)

15AC8j46NYHJBnmn944DEjmzdx6WDKmpG4

Just leaving this here for the record.

I have agreed to fund 25 coins (sent) with a 30 coin repayment (approx 10%/m).
402  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: TheBitMint - Buy Bitcoins With PayPal on: July 28, 2012, 09:29:42 PM
I am collecting some information on this in order to supply credit and I am looking at if it is sensible to provide a loan covering the five month time period involved here.

Various people are owed $x so payments would be in BTC at current exchange rates.
403  Economy / Lending / Re: Bryan Micon's List of BTC Ponzi Schemes that should not be listed as "Lending" on: July 28, 2012, 09:21:27 PM
Pretty much any mining bond/stock on GLBSE pays out 1.25-2.5% per week. Are all of them scams as well?

mining is an actual business unit that makes money.

however, mining bonds or stocks that pay 2% weekly interest are also unsustainable, and likely scams.  Link me to any and I'll give you my thoughts.

In the WPW thread there is a link to the excellent post from Stochasic listing the performance of various GLBSE assets.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=74711.0

#8 FGPAMINING is currently at 3.94%, but for a decent (large) mining business, Giga is still turning out 1.74% and YABMC is at 2.4% (and you'll notice that's me again).

And, to save you the bother, several of these instruments are BS&T pass-throughs.  Again, I am involved here via the PPT.x series of bonds.

What you might notice, is that some people run a diversified portfolio of investments, and maintain returns such as myself.  You should also notice, people do their research before shouting from the roof tops that everything is evil.  I feel like you are some sort of christian missionary trying to save the natives.
404  Economy / Long-term offers / Re: -= RUSTY's DEPOSITS - Paying 3.0% Weekly Interest =- on: July 28, 2012, 09:13:10 PM
Then I wish you good luck, and I highly advise you to visit this thread:

Who Pays What?

Read it over, send PatrickHarnett your details, and you'll be added to "New Deposit Takers." This is great for advertising. Then, send PatrickHarnett the data he needs for the Credit Rating. If you can get a good credit rating from him, I'll deposit with you, because I trust him a lot.

second this, I'm interested in depositing, however without any assurance from patrick that you are a reasonable risk, I'll be going elsewhere.

I have provided the pro-forma pm and details and Rusty has declined for now.  I have replied to him that it would probably be a good exercise for him to go through it anyway.

There are several others on the WPW list that have not responded, and I keep getting requests for recommendations about which ones I would trust or not.  I think that's a poll I could add to the thread, so will do that shortly.
405  Economy / Long-term offers / Re: Rusty's Deposits- Paying 3.0% Weekly Interest (12% Monthly) on: July 28, 2012, 07:46:59 AM
Want to disclose the credit metrics for the WPW thread?  Read it first, then get in touch.
406  Economy / Lending / Re: Bryan Micon's List of BTC Ponzi Schemes that should not be listed as "Lending" on: July 28, 2012, 07:45:27 AM

2)  If a guy, for any reason, says he can and will pay you 2%+ per week for an investment he is outright scamming you, or operating an extremely illegal business.   Where is this "profit" coming from?  have you ever, one time, thought to yourself "wow, he's got this amazing money machine, and all you need to do is input more money and even MORE money comes out!  it's great that him and all these other "investment" takers are letting us in on these amazing businesses that they never tell us exactly what they are doing"

Actually, I could have paid 2%/wk for a while - just ask the people paying between 2.5% and 3.5%/wk how I did it.  I chose to make margin, so only pay 1.5% on the basis on my business (and 1%/week from 1 Aug- actually from 3 Aug because I normally work on a Friday cycle, just haven't bothered to tell anyone).  I've only been doing deposits and lending since January, but at least did my homework.

I currently only have 70+ depositors and I pay out to them on around 16k bitcoin.  It is quite achievable in this little wild-west bitcoin business.  I also have a large number of current and past people that have and are still paying me interest on the loans I have extended.  They can (and do attest) that these rates of return are possible.

For an admitted newbie, sounds like you should do some more research - there are some nice (stable, non-ponzi) assets paying more than 2% if you know where to look and some of my best investments are much better than that.  Feel free to call me stupid, I have been called worse (Starfish waves to Bitlane for the retarded comment).

So, I am one of these people paying out "unbelievable" rates of interest, and have transparently disclosed to anyone that was interested how it is possible.  Would you like an account at Starfish BCB? (note - this is not labelled a bank, and people do run their accounts like a normal pass-book account).
407  Economy / Lending / Re: Bryan Micon's List of BTC Ponzi Schemes that should not be listed as "Lending" on: July 28, 2012, 04:35:22 AM
Having just seen Danks' latest post, I'm also compelled to state that Micon is driving me to the point of defending Dank.

(Hey Dank, I read your posts every day because they are entertaining, as are some of the replies.  Doesn't mean I'd lend to you (it's a risk thing), but I haven't seen evidence of a ponzi from you over the past year.)
408  Economy / Lending / Re: Bryan Micon's List of BTC Ponzi Schemes that should not be listed as "Lending" on: July 28, 2012, 04:31:42 AM
I need to add a new comment here.

I respect Micon's right to start a thread where he can pretty much say anything he likes.  I do not agree with some of the things here, and it is YAPIAP thread (yet another pirate is a ponzi thread).  As others have also stated, "we know", and some are not ponzi's, they are simple pyramid schemes.

What I do object to is the random shitting across many other threads unnecessarily.  Micon might not understand there is a committed community here that is working to clean up the lending section via various methods, and this shouting at everyone/everywhere tactic is just annoying.  It also shows some basic lack of understanding as the accusations do not have the necessary depth of understand or appreciation of different member's histories to make the unjustified claims he has made.
409  Economy / Securities / Re: A mathematical risk/reward analysis of insured Pirate deposits on: July 28, 2012, 04:17:19 AM
France legislated pi = 4 (since corrected)

There are other issues around that require attention too, but it is descending into hysteria like the Salem trials with the newest crusader messing things up rather than applying any logic or thought.  So, this thread is refreshing.

The concept of capital at risk is a bit novel, as you normally look at overall return.  Surely you want to know the result for all funds.  For example, as I progressively cash out my initial seed money, my return becomes higher and higher until it hits infinity.
410  Economy / Lending / Re: Looking for long term loan (May need multiple loaners) on: July 28, 2012, 02:42:35 AM
Considering.
411  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: TheBitMint - Buy Bitcoins With PayPal on: July 28, 2012, 02:40:13 AM
Watching due to the loan request.  Considering some funding, but probably in two parts - one to address the smaller amounts owed, and a second to address the larger sums involved.  This is an "arrangement with creditors" as some will be paid ahead of others - and it makes sense given the apparent spread of claims.
412  Economy / Securities / Re: A mathematical risk/reward analysis of insured Pirate deposits on: July 28, 2012, 02:21:44 AM
I heard my name, so I'd better sub - plus it's an interesting thread and attempts to cover some of these items more logically than several others.

Don't worry L, if "my con" is commenting on your thread, you must be doing something right.

Happy with my returns.

boy you are going to feel foolish about this post in the near future.

L - what is your core business unit?  how do you plan to make enough money to pay these outrageous interest %?

Well, oddly enough, even if this round fails, I will have been happy with the the previous rounds.  It is obviously not a ponzi because every round is paid out in full.  And the activity that goes on behind the returns.

Micon might want to start looking through the securities section for more victims.

Also... fwiw, you should add kludge to deposit takers as he also takes deposits.

Yes, I will update.  I see his revamped (rainbow) OP has his CDs listed again.
416  Economy / Lending / Re: Bryan Micon's List of BTC Scams and Ponzi Schemes on: July 26, 2012, 11:50:34 PM

Sir,

your defense of the BTC ponzi industry, which will crumble in a relatively short period of time, is dead wrong.  You mention principles of Standard and Poors & corporate credit ratings in the same thread as BTC ponzi schemes - you are comparing financial ratings based on balance sheets of multi-national corporations whom have to adhere to SEC accounting laws with what amounts to nothing more than a scamming lemonade stand on the internet

I didn't see where I was defending a set of HYIP products, but the principles applied at corporate or local level still apply when considering the ability of a deposit taker to pay back your money.  Thus, it is useful to understand the liquidity of different issuers.

If they are ponzi schemes by design or accident, or some other mechanism for parting people from their hard earned funds, the point that we both agree on is that people need to do their due diligence on different offerings.  I reinforce that point often.  It is also the case, that people chose different products/schemes to invest in and there are definitely some things I steer away from, and others that I an comfortable investing in given the risk/reward payoff.

It would be interesting to see, in your OP table, the degree of proof that goes with each scheme (and listing out all of the Pirate Pass-through products isn't really necessary as the key-stone there is Pirate himself.)
417  Economy / Lending / Re: Bryan Micon's List of BTC Ponzi Schemes that should not be listed as "Lending" on: July 26, 2012, 09:46:15 PM

even if he is a horrid poker player "gambler."

How do you know he is a horrid poker player ?

He could be a successful poker player ......unless you know him personally ?

Sarcasm. Patrick said he would ignore him because as a "gambler" he was untrustworthy. I find that silly for a number of reasons.

For clarity, I don't think poker players are horrid, or that OP is a horrid player, or know OP at all.

Actually, I did not say that.  I commented that I did not view being a poker player as a good credential for giving financial or investment advice.  I was also interested in the irony between poker and a claimed ponzi.

I know (and have worked with ) people sufficiently skilled they could have quit their day job and simply played cards for a living.  I would expect anyone that put reasonable time into something would be good at it, and the people who are less committed will, on average, do worse.
418  Economy / Long-term offers / Re: Starfish BCB - Loans and Deposits (deposit rate 1.0%/week from 1 August) on: July 26, 2012, 09:39:41 PM
Weekly interest paid and updated table of balances at:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=61262.msg981017#msg981017

Total deposits 16,797.  Supporting the 250BTC a week in interest is around 12k in loans, 10k in various assets and asset classes, and 14k of other stuff.

Also, in response to a number of similar questions that I have received, top-ups or additional deposits up to a total balance of 100 BTC does not need prior approval.
419  Economy / Lending / Re: Btc loan request 4.5btc on: July 25, 2012, 10:07:58 PM
Nope - did you expect anything else?  Thanks for the bump and reminder.
420  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Choose: Walk The Plank or Keelhaul on: July 25, 2012, 09:07:41 PM

Oh, good. I'm glad to hear it. I just hope that you weren't misled with planted information, of which there is potentially plenty. For example, did you know that you don't have to verify your identity to form a LLC in Texas?

As I said to Ripper234, I am the fake patrickharnett.  (that was simply to prove the point you couldn't prove the point)
