4141  Other / Meta / Re: I wonder why people don't delete their post but cancel them instead. on: July 30, 2020, 06:18:28 AM
I see it used in such situations where the initial content of the reply or post has been extensively discussed in that thread and quoted repeatedly. Deleting or editing such post may confuse someone reading it later on, a strike through on the other hand would give an idea of the original content which spurred discussion, it would be kind of awkward editing a post which has been replied to based on the actual topic of discussion (deleting topics is not allowed).
This is the practical use I can think of including maintaining transparency, at other times it's usually used for humour.
4142  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: "Signature Campaign" does work for marketing? on: July 29, 2020, 09:43:17 PM
You could organize a test run and see how effective it is by checking how much traffic your signature created for your website. There are many good means of advertising and they are all effective if done efficiently. Some campaigns prioritize quantity over quality, thinking that spamming their signature across the forum would bring more results, this does more harm than good most of the time.
You however can not go wrong if you hire one of the top managers as they are quite experienced in handling projects.

Not sure on the science behind comparing the spread of stuff coming out of your mouth when it comes to face mask / face shield -- though I assume that it'd be more helpful to wear BOTH or just wear the mask.
It will. It's also more about what's coming in than going out. When on a face mask the air you breath is filtered as it passes through it, this doesn't happen in the case of a face shield as the air comes from the openings around it, it offers some protection, but the virus isn't completely airborne but present in droplets when an infected person releases it through sneezing, coughing, or talking before falling to a surface. If one is in close contact with an infected person they could easily breath the droplets around them in.

4147  Other / Meta / Re: Suggestion to reduce MegaSpam threads . on: July 28, 2020, 09:12:48 PM
OP isn't suggesting an auto-lock feature, just that mods would take a look at it.
By automated, I meant a system where a certain number of reports from a certain rank would be a threshold to get the attention of the mods which the OP was suggesting, and as one report could do the job I felt this would be unnecessary.

I don't know if others agree with me that signature campaigns bounty managers are somehow responsible of this issue, as they accept counting posts in any thread.
I agree with this, especially with bounty projects. Most of the current signature campaign managers do well to handle spam by carefully selecting the people to wear their signatures as well as reducing the minimum post requirement. This would lead to less spam as users are not forced to post more then they would naturally do.
4148  Economy / Economics / Re: Global Migration of Millionaires. Can Bitcoin change this scenario? on: July 28, 2020, 06:15:50 PM
Some of those countries with strict laws extended that to Bitcoin with some regulating it and some banning its use outrightly. While most nations in the freer zones are less stringent and has a cryptocurrency friendly environment, encouraging its use.
It's possible for some people to go through the hoops in areas where Bitcoin is restricted but if they are wealthy enough they could rather choose to move to a more friendly environment and live comfortably.
4149  Economy / Economics / Re: Richard D Wolff: Democratize the Corporations on: July 28, 2020, 05:46:29 PM
- One worker, one vote
It's possible to have an open cooperation and make multilateral decisions based off opinions of others. But there exists a core need for a management team to decide what is voted on. They draw up the best possible options based on their experience and expertise. This would also need to be done across various layers; a cook at a restaurant could no very little about the best means of advertising, but would be able to decide on the recipe for a dish.

- Workers-owners
The workers are also the owners of the company; therefore, they get to choose what to do with the profits.
So technically, one would build an industry from scratch with their capital and every subsequent employee would automatically become a shareholder? This would greatly discourage investments; financial and intellectual.

- Not profit maximization
I can agree with a business which isn't entirely financially motivated but concerned with the livelihood of iits community of workers

Do you guys like this concept?
It has some merit but I can hardly see it implemented except of course with some compromise. The problem seems to stem from the higher class doing one over the bottom. If decision making was split across the various levels within an organization with each bringing a representative(s) looking after their interests and ultimately that of the organization we could have a healthy work environment.
4150  Other / Meta / Re: Suggestion to reduce MegaSpam threads . on: July 28, 2020, 03:56:27 PM
If you feel a thread has become superfluous you can report it to the mods and if they agree they'll have it locked. Creating an algorithm with a number of reports and rank threshold for that is unnecessary, imo. It could also be exploited
4151  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Masks rule goes into effect in England as Boris Johnson calls anti-vaxxers 'nuts on: July 28, 2020, 08:08:48 AM

Globally people are losing faith in governments, some of these conspiracy theories are ridiculous, but when you consider location and events occuring, there could be some merits to their reservation, which is just being poorly communicated.

Mask rules should go into effect, just wear it. You even get to cover your face from the government watching you. That's something, right?
This is a no-brainer, if you do not want to wear one, then self isolate, this way you reduce the risk of spread. However not enough awareness is being spread on the proper use of non pharmaceutical measures.
In my area for example, most people are now switching to face shields alone, probably for the convenience and that it can be easily reused. This however brings a compromise as it doesn't protect by filtering the air you breath in and can only be effective when combined with an efficient face mask or social distancing. Some of them are also constructed poorly and do not give full covering.
4152  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Identifying Transactions and Making it Clear (dreaming?) on: July 27, 2020, 05:32:53 PM
I understand that, by design, the blockchain doesn't work that way.
I guess this part answers the main question. Omitting some information from the transaction data would leave holes and may even give out completely false details, in a bid to make it more user friendly.
I've sent txids to noobs overtime and it was fairly easy for them to understand, to make it easier I usually add a discription, so it is more specific.
4153  Other / Meta / Re: Youtube embedding on: July 27, 2020, 05:01:23 PM
how did you embed the video? it doesn't work when i try and do it.

You can't. Wink
Judging from this reply, that feature was deliberately disabled on the forum, so it's highly unlikely the admins would restore it. There are security/privacy implications as well as threads easily getting clogged.

Opening a separate tab is not much trouble and anyone interested in your content would look it up.
4154  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Stay away from this kind of giveaway!! Scam alert!! on: July 27, 2020, 04:56:06 PM
I haven't read anything regarding how it is happening in YouTube.
It could be due to a breach in the users Google accounts as YouTube is linked to it. There's also the possibility of the user falling for a bait link which the hackers used to gain access.

the new member should be alarmed.
Rather than alarmed they should be less greedy and quit looking for get rich quick schemes. If you buy Bitcoin and hodl for long enough you could likely double it's $ equivalent.

The unlucky ones were:

Wolves and Watford
Wolves would be rooting for Chelsea in the FA cup final as a victory against Arsenal would secure Europa league football for wolves next season which would crown their best league point tally in their club's history.
4157  Other / Meta / Re: Clarification of a rule, Can we get a managers board on: July 26, 2020, 05:49:48 PM
A managers' board is very specific and could be mistaken by some as a recommendation from the forum, sort of like 'hey, here are the list of campaign managers we offer'.

Also, seeking out potential clients for your service isn't bad in it's own imo, if done professionally. Rather than sending the same text to multiple recipients repeatedly, a well constructed offer tailored to that user/business, without also spamming their inbox could pass.
4158  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: elmanchez exit scam, loan default on: July 26, 2020, 04:10:20 PM
Positive feedback should be given only if the user is unlikely to scam. Obviously there is some room for opinion here but for example in trading I think you shouldn't give positive feedback to someone whom you didn't risk money with. If you make a 100 trades with Alice but
I can understand the purpose of this. Although, there could be some variations depending on the interaction before the trade, if someone insists on going first during a trade then they passed up an opportunity to potentially scam willingly and this could prove trustworthiness.

But again, it's not always quite that simple. A determined long con scammer will figure out a way to farm trust.
In such situations traders should only risk as much as they feel the user would not be willing to lose their account over at that time. So a long con scammer should not be giving an amount potentially higher than their collateral, if the collateral in this case is a forum account it's more difficult to calculate, but judging by how much effort and time a user has put in, a figure can be calculated (the lowest possible amount preferably).
Users should also not be trusted while they have a pending trade so they can't accumulate funds.
4159  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: elmanchez exit scam, loan default on: July 26, 2020, 02:06:40 PM
The problem with us is we have way more of DT member these days and as a result it's easy for someone to gain positive feedback by impersonating a genuine guy which later they take advantage by scamming other people. We have seen such cases a lot of time but we are yet to learn.
The problem isn't really from the number of DT members but how the trust system is viewed and handled. I personally rarely give positive feedbacks except after multiple interactions with the said user overtime and I would only give out as much as I can manage at a time, to be able to review changes in the account easily.
Every member should also get involved in the trust system as anyone can leave a feedback which would be visible on the trust page even if it's not on the user's profile information.

Also, trust feedback should only be viewed as a suggestion from other users and everyone should do their own personal research before dealing with any user.
@DireWolfM14 is usually very good in discerning users to give no-collateral loans to. Flag supported.

You used the right format, but need to be at least a Jr. member to post images. Quoting for easy access.
I hope the guy who posted this gets better, in 2011 Bitcoin mining was just getting popular and getting more commercial and mining difficulty was on the rise.
You could move this thread to the mining board as it's more specific. The option to 'move topic' is at the bottom left of the thread.
