4881  Other / Meta / Re: Should we report questions that can be easily answered? on: November 26, 2019, 09:50:25 PM
You can report a post based on your assessment as everyone has a different criteria with which they judge the quality of a post, it's up to the moderators to decide if they agree with your report or not.
Some users find it easier to ask a question than to visit a site, it depends on the context and the extra layers to the post.
I've come across post from high ranking members asking questions that can be easily answered through a forum search.
4882  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Almost there (Hero Member) hoping to reach it before 2020 starts. on: November 26, 2019, 12:55:49 PM
I try not to focus on the number of merits remaining for me to get to the next rank; Sr member (although it's a bit difficult). Rather I pay attention to learning and improving, and this influences my post and would likely attract merits. I also have to resist the urge to start threads on hackneyed topics but to rather read, join quality discussions and start threads when I have something relevant to discuss.

The community has been very helpful in my journey to this stage and it's a little prove of the fact that the merit system is reflected on every member irrespective of rank.
4883  Other / Meta / Re: Copy/Paste & Reference Link on: November 26, 2019, 07:47:57 AM
And in both cases the source was not included until it was pointed out by other users, so it was plagiarism then. But with the source link edited into the text, it cannot be reported for plagiarism. You can still report it as a low quality post however as little or no effort was put into it and no new idea was shared.
4884  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Wilder vs. Fury II: The Rematch is On on: November 26, 2019, 07:06:54 AM
Should be an exciting match and an unpredictable one too. Both fighters are in good shape and good points in their careers. I do not think there would be much of a home advantage for Wilder should the fight be staged in America.
We would see lots of rounds in this match up, possibly the Long haul.
4885  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Weekly Update: $7k Lost, Bulls Vanished. Will The Gold Fractal Play Out? on: November 26, 2019, 06:57:39 AM
We're witnessing an all too familiar scenario for those who have been involved with bitcoins for a couple of years now.
The further the price drops or stabilizes at a bearish price range, the more people lose enthusiasm and FUD gets generated. The current price range may hold for a when or it may drop further and be the launch to higher grounds, possibly hitting our current ATH.
4886  Other / Meta / Re: Cancel reports? on: November 26, 2019, 03:36:57 AM
I may be wrong, but I recall seeing someone (maybe even a mod) saying that you can report again and write "disconsider my last report" or similar. And in all cases, having it market as bad does nothing to your account, as others have mentioned above.

If it's on a general board, there is a possibility that two different mods would check the two different reports. If the second report comes at a more later time even the same mod would have to I backtrack a while to reconcile both reports.
Reporting accuracy is not really a big issue and hence moderators could use that time to handle other active reports.
Also there are only 4 stages of a report: pending, good, bad, and unhandled. If the current status of the report is bad when you consider the edit, then what alternative would be given?
4887  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Are stable coins solving the problem of providing stability to our funds? on: November 26, 2019, 03:24:55 AM
so why do exchanges don't add fiat markets? it is simply because they don't want the risk of using a bank (the bank may close their account, block their funds,...) and want to have more flexibility when it comes to KYC. so they are benefiting from this not users.

This is also possible with some stable coins, assets can be frozen even when the coins are held on a personal wallet, where you have full custody. In a bid to achieve full compliance to regulatory laws.  I commented on a thread recently discussing the possibilities and I would like to reiterate the same views I shared:
The possibility of your assets getting frozen is quite unsettling for holders of any currency and shows how centralized such coins really are. They primarily function as fiat currencies which are run in the blockchain and adhere strictly to all regulatory laws.
An article I found also claimed that some addresses have actually been frozen holding assets of about $41 million

The blog also said that while blacklist functionality exists for most stablecoins, “we can only find it having been used on USDT for 16 different addresses.” The study noted 7 frozen addresses for USDT–Bitcoin which accounted for $39,404,629 and 8 of the frozen addresses for USDT-Ethereum worth $1,959,156.10.

The exact reason as to why these funds were frozen was unclear
And the exact reason for the freeze was not made public. In my opinion the demerits of stable coins outweigh the merits.
4888  Economy / Speculation / Re: It's a BUY flag on: November 25, 2019, 06:49:35 AM
There is no ONLY reason to the price actions of Bitcoin, manipulation is possible, spreading fud and tanking the value further to create opportunities to short the currency.

Also, I do not think big traders act on emotions, rather they act on the emotions of other smaller traders and use that to try and determine the direction the market should take. I have to agree that it's a good time to buy more bitcoins.
4889  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Italian League Prediction Thread (Serie A) on: November 25, 2019, 06:27:22 AM
...
The later stages of the league is as important as the early stages and the same number of points are up for grabs, so if a tight schedule in the UCL affects their domestic performances, it would reflect on the table. I expect Juventus to go farther in the UCL so they could be most affected in the latter stages of the season.
4890  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling with Fiat or Crypto? on: November 25, 2019, 06:20:18 AM
Fiat may bring convenience to people that are not tech-savvy enough to understand crypto, but it can easily be traced by worldwide governments.
Pardon my quoting a part of the old text, but I don't think one has to be tech-savvy at all to use cryptocurrency. It's almost as simple as making a bank transaction using your mobile and after one or two attempts one can comfortably do the basics like, make a transactionz deposit/withdraw etc. So u would advice cryptocurrency to everyone, it's fast, anonymous and decentralized.
4891  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread (EPL) on: November 25, 2019, 06:12:31 AM
Both Manchester United and Arsenal have chances to win the Europa league, Tottenham are less likely to win the UCL and would need to focus more on making it into the top four position for a chance at competing in the champions league next season.
I predict an English team would win the UEL again, and with the current states of the top teams around Europe an English team could equally win the UCL again.
4892  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread (EPL) on: November 24, 2019, 08:19:15 AM
because the players are tired of playing lots of games in different competitions in the next month lol
Three out of the top four teams are involved in European football with the exception of Leicester, and same number in the cup competition with the exception of Chelsea.
So Liverpool won't be the only team getting fatigued. Squad rotations are vital at this point and it helps to have depth in your squad.
In football, you make your own luck and that's what the Reds have done so far this season.

4894  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2019/20 on: November 24, 2019, 05:47:57 AM
I also think that hosting the Supercup of a nation in the middle of the season and in another country doesn’t make a whole lot of sense but that is just Spanish Soccer Association decided it.I don’t think it will have the interest that we are used to see when the Supercup is host locally and played in Spain.
Globally I think it would have the same interest as when it is hosted by a Spanish team. The local fans will be aggrieved about having to travel to another continent to watch the Spanish cup but fans in Asia won't be complaining. The entire process seems financially motivated as the Saudi Arabian government looks to make more inroads in sports and possibly make it a major source if revenue as it is in Europe.

An El classico final is possible but not certain, both teams have been far from convincing this season and would have to dig deep over two legs to reach the last stage.
4895  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Important Warning Blockchain Email Hacker "BIoϲkϲhain Reϲeived" on: November 24, 2019, 05:31:02 AM
I made a thread recently with suggestions on how to protect your email privacy and to prevent yourself from failing a victim to email targeted scams: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5202634.msg53116803#msg53116803
It's almost impossible to maintain total privacy but you can manage your accounts to easily identify scam attempts.
4896  Other / Meta / Re: Stats of artists who received at least 1 merit from the 10th art contest on: November 23, 2019, 04:40:34 PM
Maybe the intended rank will receive more BTC than the other lower ranks.
I have no idea what you mean by, the intended rank, but the contest is purely based on the creativity and execution of the presented art not the rank of the users involved. Hence the contest was opened to every member of the forum.
4897  Other / Meta / Re: BTC forum account hacked on: November 23, 2019, 08:19:12 AM
This is probably the second account hacked claim that I've read but there were no pw changes. Here's the other one https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4932173.0
This case looks more like a troll who may be trying to get someone's account locked.
This is one of the reasons account sales are highly discouraged, asides the fact that it gives a false impression of the account t owner and the trust ratings/merit score do not reflect the new owner of the account and anyone dealing with the account is at risk, the original account owner can come back months or years later to reclaim their account using a signed message or the original email used to register it.
4898  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: [GUIDE] Overview of the trust flags on: November 23, 2019, 06:01:47 AM
I think you can clarify a bit better which flags can be used and when. For instance that certain flags can only be used for contract violations and that incorrect use of flags is considered abuse.  Even accidental misuse or support of inaccurate flags can result in consequences.

I included that in the OP,  the images between must have made it a little bit obscure, I'll increase the size of the text slightly.
...Types of flags
- Newbie warning flags:...

-: Contract-violation flags:...
4899  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread (EPL) on: November 23, 2019, 05:33:50 AM
...
The could both drop two points if the match ends in a draw, and I think that would favour Liverpool more as they would move further away from both teams should they win their next fixture. Liverpool would need to focus on their trip to Selhurst park to face Crystal Palace who are the second lowest scorers in the league.
Would be interesting to see how many points would be between the top teams at the end of today.
4900  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you have control or not? on: November 22, 2019, 09:20:14 PM
therapy can also help, of course.
Therapy is an important aspect of curing an addiction, and gambling addiction is similar to any other kind, and should be handled as such. Anyone addicted to gambling should seek professional advise to cope with it. Gamble responsibly and only with cash you can afford to lose.
