often we dont even know how badly we did until it is far too late to repair the damage done.

Yes. Just look at the current economic, medical and psychological fallout from shutting the economy down.

Gotta say, one of my main problems with the vaccine was the speed it was engineered, rolled out, the fact it was not extensively tested over long enough a time, and then after all of that,  they were like "YEAH LETS GIVE IT TO EVERY HUMAN ON EARTH" .......... That really made me think. And it really made me think, yeah but, what if it is not ok? for any reason?

Not to mention the shear variation among human beings in a world where someone picked at random can be killed by a peanut and it's supposed to be safe for everyone? It just doesn't track right.

Bitcoin Pizza Day to everyone.
What are your plans for Bitcoin Pizza Day this year?

Probably to get a job delivering pizzas at this rate.

By the way, where is the "stable" in this coin? What a clusterfuck  Shocked

Stablecoin algorithms seems like an implementation of the Martingale strategy but with any of the potential of winning removed.
425  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: May 19, 2022, 03:51:02 PM
I want all stablecoins (which are not really stable at all) to die so that everyone is invested in BTC.

Part of the trick with stablecoins is that the stablecoin owners invest it in BTC and the people giving them USD get unbacked tokens. What could possibly go wrong?

I must say the market absorbed the 88k BTC in one week quite well.

However, since many buyers have already bought at this point, I feel there seems to be a lack of new capital which is needed to pump us out of the lows.

They're printing more as fast as they can. I hear the Ukrainians are about to get $40B and not all of it will be for kickbacks.

Hah. I hadn't even visited that clip when I made my comment. I was just being facetious.

Looks like one of those "Bitcoin was invented by the feds" conspiracy guys. If he knew, he would say, not tease. 100% bullshitter.

Does anyone have the email address for the manager of Bitcoin? I want to ask him to stop selling at a discount.

Planted a few rows with seed tape and they are already coming up while the other rows are not so not sure why but it was so much easier with the tape.

Not familiar with that. I'll have to look into it. The tomato plants I started indoors after the outside ones didn't seem to be taking are now bigger than the ones that have been outside.

Haha, me too. Cheesy
I accidentally sprayed all my seedlings with ammonia this year, Lol I'm such a moron now. Smiley
Miracle grow is the same color as the windex and in the same bottle.

Also apparently those plants were stressed and did not grow as well in the moon soil.

Mine were growing well as seedlings but when I planted them, it's all been no growth for the last 6 weeks. I think one of our trees has grown enough that the place where I put the garden is now overcast for much of the day. It may also be something to do with the raised bed potting soil I bought from Lowes that I'm not very confident is particularly high quality. I also planted a bunch of seeds that haven't made a showing. Some were a little old but some weren't. Now weeds are starting to grow so it's tricky to know what's what (the seeds should be growing in nice straight rows though).

I have always felt life is inevitable on a physics level and that its not some miracle.

Almost certainly the case, IMO. Though I suspect in many places, it doesn't get very interesting from an intelligent life POV.

I have a sneaking suspicion this is another trick-of-the-light thing. Could really use a stereoscopic picture.

Food, clean water, sanitation, medicine, petrol, and other goods/services will be cut off from their first. They will suffer the hardest. Plus there will be lockdowns (ala Shanghai). It'll be like Mad Max on steroids.

Having a house and land out in more rural areas is one's best bet for long term survival.

I know people who have plans for if/when major metropolitan collapse leads to people flooding out into surrounding areas. Mad Max it is.

I feel like this would more accurately be

Quote
Plants successfully grow plants in soil from the moon

However, given how badly my garden is going, I'm not sure they're all that good at it.

How absolutely bonkers that statement would have sounded just a couple years ago.  Luckily it still seems unlikely, but it would not be shocking.  This is the scenario in which a little bucket of silver rounds may also come in handy.

It's always been there if you've been willing to see it. Displaced people, refugees, been with us forever. "There but for the grace of god", we say but god often withdraws his grace.

Americans and parts of Europe (and maybe some other places) have been able to delude themselves to the facts of reality for a long time, Democracy and capitalism and the peace and prosperity they bring have lead to a comfortable existence but its enemies have been working away at its subversion a long time and it has been apparent for decades (if not longer) which way the winds are blowing.

Prepping has always made sense. It just depends on how much you want to prep for.

The reason I say land is the riskiest is draconian governments can simply seize it.  And the dirtiest secret is they do not even have to.  They can also tax all your value out of it.

Land also potentially ties you to a location which could be bad in some circumstances. I do own my home because I like it that way but I'm prepared to abandon it should the need arise.

I doubt that they will learn terra's lesson and quit investing in shitcoins. These people think they are smart, but they are not. They rely on their personal experience and achievements, but are not used to doubt every project and the man behind it. The cost of this lesson will be devastating one day.

These people work from a complex stack of fallacious logical thinking. They look around at those who have made money from Bitcoin and figure they're at least as smart and should be able to make money like those people. Then they look at Bitcoin and figure that the "make money fast" phase is done. Then they piece it all together and think "Shitcoins are cheap and still have the potential to make money fast and I am smart enough to make money fast, therefore if I invest in Shitcoin which has $INSERT_BUZZWORD_HERE going for it compared to all (or most) the other shitcoins, the only answer is that I will make money fast.".

I'm not sure even how I'd dump SV. I have some on Coinbase because of transaction duplication but they don't let you trade em.
Can you withdraw them? I've recently tested 2 instant exchangers for this, both through Tor, and it worked fine (for small amounts at least). I don't want to advertise them here though.
So if you can withdraw them go from Coinbase > to instant exchanger > to Bitcoin > to your wallet.

I believe so. It's just not been enough to be worth the hassle.

Bitcoin SV is now back to the same price level as it was in 2018/2019.
I'm curious: who here still has those shitcoins? I can imagine many HODLers never touched their Bitcoin, so all Forkcoins are still in there. What better way to get even than to dump them?

Will they go after Coinbase next?

If they could bankrupt Coinbase and cause all holders in Coinbase to loose their coin in the BK liquidation, that could also be a major blow to crypto/Bitcoin..

I believe Coinbase operates in a fairly safe and conservative manner so attacks would be tricky. It would pretty much have to be a hack/heist, DOS or legal.
