441  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: I want to get very small USDT loan on: February 19, 2024, 10:48:29 AM
Loan Use

1. Forex trading in Exness

Security

1. I am willing to take very small loan and I have no collateral now.  I have a govt job in India ( salary around 435 USDT per month converting my currency ). My salary date - 2nd of each month.  So if I fail in forex trading I will pay you back from my salary. Don't worry. I will not run away with 30 USDT.

2. I want to utilize my 10 days so I am asking this loan.

Please  comment in positive way. I am serious about forex trading. If you help me, I will be pleased on you.

1. Exness provide demo account. Have you tried it to get familiar with Exness and trading in general?
2. Rather than asking for loan, why don't you buy USDT with your salary? That way, you'll save your and others time.
442  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: What to know of Nodes and Running a Node on: February 19, 2024, 10:09:05 AM
To allow incoming connections, yes, you must open a port, but this is definitely not an obstacle to run a node. I run a node without even bothered with ports and firewalls.

You can also use Tor and allow incoming connections over it, and you will still avoid all the networking hassle.

In addition, you could just enable UPnP either by adding upnp=1 on bitcoin.conf or tick "Map port using UPnP" on GUI setting. Of course, i assume the router support and enable UPnP.
443  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Is there any malware that captures your recovery seed when shown or typed? on: February 19, 2024, 10:02:55 AM
Is encrypting mnemonic codes with aes-256-cbc or any sensitive data still safe, using Linux?

Yes. Although in this case, you better ensure your device is secure. If malware exist on your device, your mnemonic would be compromised when you create new wallet or perform encryption over plain text/file.

Why would you want to do that? They are meant to be written on paper. Storing them on a computer, even encrypted, is almost certainly asking for trouble since the mnemonic has to be decided at some point.
Forget the mnemonic. You still have to store the AES-256 private key somewhere in plain text. It's just like the standard method of writing down the phrase but with extra steps.

Or remember password used for AES-256 encryption. And yes, i'm aware the password is hashed into 256-bit data which used as encryption key.
444  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Who are the bitcoin Developers aside from satoshi on: February 19, 2024, 09:31:00 AM
Bitcoin is a decentralized projects and it's impossible to list all devs.
There's already a contributor list in Github so how it's impossible to list them?

1. Not everyone use GitHub. If you check non-github-bitcoin on GitHub[1], it's dummy account for contributor who don't have GitHub account.
2. In wider context, anyone who write Bitcoin application could be considered as Bitcoin developer. Even to create list all Bitcoin application would be challenging.
3. Some Bitcoin project intentionally avoid GitHub to host it's source code since for various reason.

I gist OP is right maybe you should report this types of problems to the support @electrum.co.za. Or still you should get a new version for the windows

446  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Umbrel — Discussion, issues, solutions on: February 18, 2024, 09:52:33 AM
umbrel presented the new umbrel home and umbrelOS 1.0 a few days ago.
the umbrel home is equipped with the new Intel n100 chip, a faster 16gb ram and a 2tb ssd and is also said to be 5x faster compared to the raspberry pi 4 and 2x faster compared to the raspberry pi 5 (see images below)
and the new umbrelOS 1.0 will be available from march 18, 2024 for umbrel home and rpi users. from april 2024 also for ubuntu and debian users.
https://umbrel.com/umbrel-home
https://umbrel.com/umbrelos

So Umbrel finally follow their competitor (e.g. MyNode and Casa) by releasing their branded hardware. For ready to use hardware, it's not that expensive although it's weird it doesn't seem to have any video port (e.g. HDMI).

Hi everyone.

I'm struggling with the taproot address.

In python, how to convert a hexadecimal privatekey to taproot address?

I use bech32m lib but the taproot address generated is doesn't match to the correct address.

Can anyone explain taproot address generation process? I want use a hexadecimal privatekey to generate taproot address.

Thank you.

Well From the Little search and knowledge i think you should try to coverts your personal key to a wallet and it should be a new version 0 maybe on your phone or desktop.
This are some steps you could take just follow them!!

Step 1

Step2

Step3

This should be of help after run them

Try to check on this link to confirm it OP

https://bitcoin.stackexchange.com/questions/118135/get-the-scriptpubkey-from-a-taproot-address

1. Those screenshot actually taken from question shown on https://bitcoin.stackexchange.com/questions/118135/get-the-scriptpubkey-from-a-taproot-address.
2. I don't know what exactly he mean by version 0. But if he refer to witness version, it should be version 1 since version 0 refer to SegWit.

It's also worth to mention that this user claiming image found internet as his own, see https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5485523.msg63680247#msg63680247.

Sorry OP, but with claim of "comprehensive" i find your website isn't detailed enough. And while i don't mind basic/amateur UI design, there are few UI bug like this one.

And looking at threads you've created, some of them are very similar where moderator may lock or delete some of them since it's very similar.

Hello Fren,

it's strange, on my desktop it looks "normal". Is there a way to check more desktops or something to avoid this? thank you

That UI bug happen when i use Firefox browser. So i'd guess you should try visiting your website using Firefox sometimes.
450  Economy / Reputation / Re: Which campaign has the most spammers? on: February 17, 2024, 09:41:52 AM
Signature campaigns should be a way to reward users for quality contributions and only those that do should be paid, but at the moment it has become a way for many campaign operators to lazily and cheaply advertise their business by paying greedy users to spam whatever unsubstantial rubbish they can be bothered putting the minimal amount of effort in to and this will no longer be tolerated.
~
As a signature campaign operator you will ultimately be held responsible for the quality of posts of users bearing your signature advertisement and you will need to monitor your users closely or it will be quickly abused.
~
Running a campaign is not an easy task and it requires someone actively monitoring participants daily ~ If you cannot commit to doing this or do not have someone within your company who can do the job to an acceptable standard then you should either hire someone to do so or close your campaign and look at alternative ways of advertising.
If those rules would be enforced, you'd be banned.

That rule already enforced though, although it seems only YoBit signature campaign deemed to violate that rule.
451  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re:- Mnemonics Recovery 12 words-11 words known not in order-1 unknown on: February 17, 2024, 09:15:23 AM
I got a small issue with one of my clients wallets he has 11 words of a mnemonics which he also dont know the order and his one word is missing he cant able to remember first he that it was "casual" but not, i need exact command line for running the btcrecover for one words missing and rest words are not in order i have a good amount of gpus is it possible to recover the wallet, what is the exact cmd line to run in seedrecover.py to solve this issue with enabling gpus with gpu device ID's.

Even though i have multiple gpus and i give --gpuid 0 1 2 3 4 seed recover is taking only gpu can anyone suggest me a possible solution to this and i need exact command line to run seedrecover to solve the issue.

Looking at https://github.com/3rdIteration/btcrecover/blob/master/btcrecover/btcrpass.py which process CLI argument, btcrecover doesn't even accept gpuid argument. I think you'll need --list-gpus to see name of all your GPUs and then use multiple --gpu-names instead. See @nc50lc response below for correct argument.

Please i need your esteemed support on succesfully i swear to award something for support,  i had been working on this project since december i had one earlier post in bitcoin talk regarding this also but unfortunately after running lot of times with the words he gave we cant able to recover, now client confirms that "casual" is not there in earlierly gave mnemonics, so now we have one word missing and rest 11 not in order, client is devastated and very upset that he lost his huge wallet. so if we can do help him he can promptly reward us.

Meanwhile we must trust you to share the reward, where we can't even know you actually solve the problem and got paid by your client.

Since few users mention oddity of your website, i decide to revisit your website and found more weird things.

1. On bitcoinsguide dot org/betting, you mention casino which primarily accept BCH which also offer BCH faucet. Same thing happens on bitcoinsguide dot org/faucet where you mention faucet for various altcoin. I find it's weird since your domain emphasize your website is about guide for Bitcoin.
2. Using term "guide" with claim being "comprehensive", it's weird you never mention using faucet or play to earn game usually just waste your time where people could earn money by working IRL.
3. On bitcoinsguide dot org/crypto-express, you state "Independent Crypto News". But when i check further, you simply take news from another website.

Don't miss out on the opportunity to kickstart your crypto journey the right way.
I think there are much better ways for anyone to start using and understanding Bitcoin. You're just promoting your own referral site.
Did I say promoting? I mean spamming:
And looking at threads you've created, some of them are very similar where moderator may lock or delete some of them since it's very similar.

And it looks like moderator agree with you, since most of OP's thread no longer exist.
453  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Miners can use Non Custodial Wallet for Mining Rewards with Bitcoin Lightning on: February 16, 2024, 10:25:19 AM
Titan Mining CEO Ryan Condron explained, “At Titan, we believe in empowering miners worldwide. The Titan Lightning solution offers immediate access to mining rewards, enhancing liquidity and putting control back in the hands of miners.” The integration of the Lightning Network allows miners to receive block rewards every ten minutes with no minimum payout.

If this part is fully true, that means the pool prepare tons of Bitcoin on LN. After all, you can't spend mined Bitcoin before 100 confirmation. While the idea is cool, i'm not sure many miner really want or need to sell or use their mined BTC as soon as possible.

455  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Question about Sparrow ( Server ) on: February 16, 2024, 09:21:02 AM
--snip--
So theory aside, a malicious node can only:
-Don't forward my transaction (I would notice if the money didn't arrive)
-Forward my transaction, but still leave the amount displayed on my wallet (I would also notice if the money arrives)
If that's the only thing he could do, what benefit would he get from it?

I don't know. Although i'd speculate whoever do that doesn't get any benefit.

Could he manipulate my transaction data and change the recipient's wallet address in the background?
(I would also notice this because I always compare the address on the hardware wallet)

They could try that. But both full node and Sparrow wallet (along with any decent wallet) would verify the transaction and detect it as invalid transaction.

What are the risks if I connect Sparrow to a public server instead of my own full node?
Asides from the privacy downgrade, given some hashrate, the attacker can double-spend without you noticing. Let me give you an example.

  • The attacker is a customer in an Internet store, and the merchant is connected to his SPV server.
  • The attacker needs to convince the merchant that he paid him, so he mines a block (on his, inferior difficulty-wise blockchain) with his transaction included.
  • The merchant sees the money, so he releases the product.

That might sound a ridiculous way to rip off a merchant, but imagine a scenario where the merchant is a cryptocurrency swap service, that can create noticeable damage. If you're not a merchant, I can't think of any other security holes, excluding the already aforementioned.

Even in this scenario, it's not very practical attack since you need a fortune to perform double-spend attack. And even if you managed to obtain the product, it's just matter of time before the merchant sue you.
456  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Question about Sparrow ( Server ) on: February 15, 2024, 10:06:43 AM

Someone found security vulnerability on library used by Sparrow wallet used to read JSON data, which could exploited to perform RCE attack.

That would interest me as I'm active user of Sparrow which is employed as software coordinator for my cosigners in multisig wallet.

I have spent some time to sieve WEB in an attempt to find the relevant info but with no real success.

Could you head me to the source ?

Sorry, i forget to add word "might". What i said earlier is my theory based on history someone add malicious code on arbitrary JSON data. Altough if you just want to do casual research, use keyword "json injection" or "json xss rcss" on Google search.
457  Economy / Reputation / Re: Why High Demand for Bitcoin Testnet Coins? on: February 15, 2024, 09:59:33 AM
I noticed something else: many Testnet blocks are full! They're close to the maximum "Weight", which means there's a massive number of testnet transactions being created. It's still better than on-chain Ordinal spam on the real Bitcoin blockchain of course.

I wonder whether someone finally notice Bitcoin testnet3 remain alive for more than 10 years and makes it suitable to store data "forever".

I also noticed most blocks take slightly over 20 minutes, which is the maximum time on Testnet before the difficulty drops. I think that means barely anyone is mining Testnet with sufficient hashrate anymore.

It's also possible they want to obtain tBTC with minimum effort, by performing mining only when difficulty dropped to 1.

Does anybody even make ASICs for testnet mining? Or can existing ASICs can be tweaked to use testnet's getblocktemplate?

You can use existing ASIC to mine tBTC. Here's an example, [Guide] Solo mine testnet bitcoins with cgminer, Bitcoin Core, and a Compac F.

I wanted to check old blog post, so i visit that onion link and choose "BLOG" which redirect me to https://blog.wasabiwallet.io/. But it surprise me that link show me message "403 Forbidden Access to this resource on the server is denied!". I don't mind redirection to clearnet, but i expect they configure their website to explicitly allow Tor visitor.

Thank you for reporting this issue!  The site maintainers are working on fixing it.

This has now been fixed.  @ABCbits, let me know if you have any issues, I got a 403 error on one attempt, but refreshing the page made it go away.

Sorry i didn't notice your reply. Anyway, i can confirm i can access the blog from Tor Browser without encounter 403 most of the times.

Hello.

I would certainly  use an android app of wasabi wallet.

Is there any release date for a possible mobile app? I think mobile users are many, and allow users to use wasabi in the phone would be very good.

This FAQ answer your question, although i recall it's created few years ago.

Is there an Android/iOs version?

No, Wasabi and CoinJoin features require considerable computational power, not currently replicable on a smartphone.

are there specific wallet files that I can search for or for seed phrase? seems a little harsh. Any help would be nice here (ty)

Each wallet software store it's wallet file on certain location. For example,
  • Bitcoin Core: C:\Users\YourUserName\Appdata\Roaming\Bitcoin. On that folder, find file called "wallet.dat".
  • Electrum: C:\Users\Chloe\AppData\Roaming\Electrum\wallets. On that folder, you should see one or more file without extension.
