443  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [1500 TH] p2pool: Decentralized, DoS-resistant, Hop-Proof pool on: September 25, 2015, 01:05:23 PM
One other quick question, I see this in the p2pool scroll:

2015-09-25 08:41:34.203000
2015-09-25 08:41:34.204000 Determining payout address...
2015-09-25 08:41:34.205000     Loaded cached address: <some address>
<some address cont>...
2015-09-25 08:41:34.209000     ...success! Payout address: <some address>
<some address cont>

I don't recognize the address.  It's not any that I see in bitcoin-qt

P2pool creates an address to payout to in your wallet when it first connects. In your wallet menu, click file>receiving addresses & it should be listed there. For Bitcoind, in terminal type:

Code:
bitcoind listreceivedbyaddress 0 true

..it will display the address  Smiley
444  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [1500 TH] p2pool: Decentralized, DoS-resistant, Hop-Proof pool on: September 25, 2015, 12:04:52 PM
Is anyone using p2pool on a windows machine?  Is it not recommend?  I followed the instruction on to separate machines and get the same error on both machines.

2015-09-25 06:51:43.941000 > p2pool.util.jsonrpc.NarrowError: -10 Bitcoin is dow
nloading blocks...

Exactly - you must wait for Bitcoin wallet to finish sync. It will take a while, it's a large file, just wait until it's finished then restart p2pool.

Latest git will disconnect versions less than 0.9.2.16  Smiley

Also, try deleting your peers.dat file. Running fine here.

That guide is not maintained & very out of date, so are many of the links it uses. You should remove it all & download from the official repo:

https://github.com/p2pool/p2pool

From terminal:

Code:
git clone https://github.com/p2pool/p2pool.git

Then punch this into a terminal:

Code:
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade
sudo apt-get -y install software-properties-common
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:bitcoin/bitcoin
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install libdb4.8-dev libdb4.8++-dev
sudo apt-get --no-install-recommends install python-software-properties screen git python-rrdtool python-pygame python-scipy python-twisted python-twisted-web python-imaging build-essential libglib2.0-dev libglibmm-2.4-dev python-dev libssl-dev libboost-all-dev dh-autoreconf libcurl4-openssl-dev libminiupnpc-dev ufw libtool autotools-dev autoconf automake pkg-config libprotoc8 libgtk2.0-dev libgmp-dev libmpfr-dev yasm libevent-dev

This will install all the needed dependencies for p2pool & your merge mined coins. If you want to have a GUI for your wallets, add:

Code:
sudo apt-get install libqt4-dev libprotobuf-dev protobuf-compiler

For your Bitcoin wallet, type:

Code:
sudo apt-get install bitcoind

Or, for the GUI version:

Code:
sudo apt-get install bitcoin-qt

This should get you started  Wink

Looks like your IP tables is screwed - your firewall also, have you been adjusting it's settings?

Also, what's this:

Did you download p2pool from the official repo? That bold text looks suspect.......

Most people don't look at the pool payout history.
This one isn't the highest Tongue

Could you point me to a good pool that supports XT?
Good pools don't support XT

 Cheesy

Didn't XT die yet?

Happy hard fork day everyone

Just a quickie - I have already performed a reindex with the latest client, will I have to reindex again after block 1400000 or can I just sit back & watch it happen?  Wink

You should be fine if you're using v0.9.2.16.

Cool, thanks..... Wink

Hi kano,

I have a couple of miners pointed at your pool using a btc address only, but they are currently showing up as dead. I have tried using port 443 also, but with the same result. I see by the previous post that there have been some connection problems - are they still ongoing?

Thanks.

WorldLeadCurrency has won the voting at https://c-cex.com/?id=vote. So hopefully they can handle demurrage and exchange rates are available soon - i keep it updated.

Greetings Rik

Good news, this coin is moving forwards nicely  Smiley
455  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: BITMAIN announces Antpool on: September 24, 2015, 10:58:58 AM
... I believe that currently it is one of the best pools around.

Your opinion/belief is objectively wrong.  Any pool that not only causes significant problems in the network due to using SPV mining instead of a fully validating node, but then states openly that they have no plan to stop doing so after it has been shown to be a problem, is not even close to one of the best pools around.  This isn't debatable, it is objectively damaging to the network for a major pool to be doing this.

+100 Well said!

And this is not the only pool that is damaging to the bitcoin network, f2pool, among others, are doing the same thing. There are so many misconceptions about mining & pools on this forum, it's astounding. I do wish people would research more before choosing a pool & making such statements - biggest is definitely not best in the Bitcoin mining ecosystem, & is especially true in this case.

I suggest miners here read this:  https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1085800.0

I have a few names for it:

SP50 "Stegosaurus" (large and stocky, or maybe, "Triceratops")
SP50 "Dragon"
SP50 "Azhdarchid" (for scientifically inclined)

Please post yours...

How about SP50 "bitmainslayer"?  Grin

...
In a pack of 48 they're upwards of $400 per unit which is probably approaching $300 with Spondoolies quantities.

So that's $3,000 of PSUs. Shipping will almost certainly be palletised, those things are way too big and heavy to go through normal routes so that's a fair chunk but not really different to anyone else.
Regarding PSU cost, you don't have a clue.

But you're right, there could be people who scam under trusted members' usernames there.

What - you mean that isn't happening on this forum? Trusted members & moderators are scamming here:

This forum has become a haven for corruption & censorship.
