back, I sold some equipment of mine (ironically, in Boston) and couldn't make it. I'll be travelling to VT for school at the beginning of next week and I guess we'll meet then (might just have prodigits make the miners for me). I recall seeing a hitman outside of my house as I was leaving, but I'm sure it was just a coincidence...

Has anyone beaten this yet considering the 2 year gap and insane difficulty increase (and consequently, hashrate) since this thread started?

I'll add that one to the Special hubs table. And, yeah, I want that one! Here is an update on my final setup for 60 BEs:  3 d-Links are connected to an old Mag screen's USB 1.1 hub, the remaining 7 + fan to ST-Lab 10-porter (so, there are 2 USB cables out). Everything is driven by Win7 machine. The fan pointing downwards moves air over the AC adapters. Everything runs with almost no HW errors, so the power distribution seems to be sufficient. I tried connecting the whole setup to Rpi, running MinePeon 0.2.2 and cgminer 3.3.4. At first it recognised and started mining on 57 devices (on one of the D-Links only every second device got recognised). After a while it dropped to 56 devices and stayed there for about 20 minutes, when I aborted the experiment. Cgminer was reporting a lot of timeout and comm error messages and BEs were blinking prettily (much more and brighter than when connected to Win7 machine, where you hardly see any blinking). RPi CPU load from Cgminer was about 34%, so it must be bus-related. My conclusion is that RPi is good for a limited number of devices (<30 which gave no comm errors or timeouts). For larger rigs, use a PC. So, I just emailed BFL and requested a refund for two singles I ordered. Let's see what the response is to that...
i did that a couple of weeks ago, i got the standard "No" form letter. I really want my equipment more than the money though so i let it ride for now. It's looking like the next difficulty is going up 25% tomorrow. You sure you want to let it ride? Or double down on the Monarch!  I'll wait for when they announce a product to undercut it before it ships... |
