441  Economy / Exchanges / Re: C_CEX awfully slow to handle withdraw problem on: May 03, 2017, 05:09:22 PM
As far as I can see I've done nothing wrong with my C-CEX account, yet my attempt to withdraw XtraBYtes (XBY) funds is in vain! I have been collecting many screenshots of attempts to communicate with C_CEX support and the only thing happening is a robot answer stating
Quote
"Wallet is on maintenance now. Please, wait until we finish and we will be able to resolve this issue after that"
Huh
Yea! sure. Maintenance of an account certainly does not take over 24 hours. C_CEX was lightning fast to accept my funds when I filled up my account with my precious bitcoins. They are not so willing to let my have my money back now! Also, even after two messages to support, I still get the exact word for word automated answer. They apparently cannot do anything until the account is out of maintenance status.  I can understand that they are getting uncountable support request and that they have to resort to automated robotic reply system to keep up but that is not a way to handle my XBY portfolio.
C_CEX is not an exchange it is a gimmick to hold on your funds while making profit. At least that is what transpire from the behavior. Dont juge a person on his words but on his actions.
I want my funds C_CEX! What are you doing ?  And dont accuse me of not asking, I have sent you 2 support requests so far in the last 24 hours.    A suggestion anyone ?

This is because you forgot a golden rule when it comes to trading altcoins, always check the status of the wallets, the only thing you can do is to contact the maintainer of the coin and ask him what is the problem.
For sure they will always accept your bitcoins, but when you have to deal with altcoins it is more complicated.

Coins can stay in maintenance for months, especially at yobit, sometimes forever. Maintenance means that either the blockchain is stuck, or there are not enough peers to maintain the network, or even a wallet corruption.

By the way, this is the wrong section for exchange related problems. Or maybe it is a scam accusation ?
442  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Best Litecoin marketplace? on: May 03, 2017, 01:11:52 PM
Hey, I'm thinking about investing a bit into Litecoins. What's the best market for this? Is BTC-E trustworthy and legit?

(Also, kinda off-topic: What happened at the start of April this year that pushed the LTC price so high all of a sudden?)

BTC-E is under scam accusations.
For your off topi question, it is the activation of segwit : http://litecoinblockhalf.com/segwit.php

For the best trading exchange, you can check this page and select which one is the most suitable : http://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/litecoin/#markets
443  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Looking for team members on: May 03, 2017, 11:15:43 AM
Looking to develop a Agro based crypto where money will be raised from crowdfunding to invest and manage the agro based industry.
Coin or tokens will be buyback with the income of agro investments after every 6 months.
Anyone willing to work together on this project are welcome.

Are you related to Cabbage coin ? Because it has been aleready done and the guy was totally unable to controle the price, they have pumped and dumped, as a result the project price went form 300.000 USD to 0 USD.
You should twice before asking for such a project, and avoid scam exchanges. And i don't think that you will find serious partners here, because serious developers, managers, investors ... Doesn't look in this section. You should try to contact them directly.
No I am not related to any previous project.
Where can I find them to contact directly?
This can be a huge development, especially that could bring a lot of benefits to the people living in poor areas where wealth is not well distributed and with this they can get what they deserve. Perhaps you need to find developers that are already working on this or subscribe to google alerts to find news about it every day, chances are you find the right business and dev team.
Is there any similar crypto exist already?

That's what i was saying : https://twitter.com/CabbageTech
They finally droped the project and decided to leave it as a shitcoin because of all the pump and dump. They did great at start, but after, they have been just dumped by yobit, even the developer was pissed off because of them and he threatened them.

It is strenge to see that just two users answered a thread created by theymos. I think that this section should be renamed :"Altcoin's Advertising" instead of " Altcoins Discussion".

How do we REALLY know that it was theymos who created it?  Tongue Tongue Tongue

Hmm, maybe you are right, or maybe he is looking for some ideas, i think that it is a little bit old. There are tons of new ideas with new solutions.

It is strenge to see that just two users answered a thread created by theymos. I think that this section should be renamed :"Altcoin's Advertising" instead of " Altcoins Discussion".

Most users aren't here for the better world but rather to spout out a few lines in threads with a few lines OP as long as it is counted to get paid.
Many people are scared to post, and many have no idea what this is, I don't have any technical point of view as I only skimmed through 20 lines maybe?
I think this was Satoshi himself getting back in to the game trying to get some money since he can't spend any of his bitcoins because it will break the silence vow.

No one really comes to this board any more it should be in ann section with [ANN] at the beginning of the title.
Or maybe the "Idea" is too big to swallow, it's practically a white paper without the seriousness of a real project.

Yes, no one, just trolls, fud spreaders, HYIPers, and scamers. Or in the best cases, just some young altcoiners looking for a way to double their 50k satoshis.

The whole Bitcoin/Altcoin ecosystem might actually pose as a model for an answer to the decentralization/scaling problem, because it somewhat is a complicated and clumsy solution already.

What we have at the moment are multiple blockchains for multiple cryptocurrencies, which all have their own communities. And while some of them might be in the hands of few people, while others might be spread out more, the blockchain ecosystem as a whole is heavily decentralized. We can expect users to wander off to other blockchains/currencies, should a blockchain fail.

What if you were to rebuild this system in form of an altcoin, but got rid of the weak points, the current (naturally derived) system holds:

- Exchanges as centralized entities, managing cross chain transfers
- Different worth of tokens across blockchains
- Small, weak and therefore attackable blockchains
- I'm sure, I forgot something

Yes, you forgot that many of these blockchains are clones of each other, some are forks with slight changes, and some are competing against each other and provides the same specifications.
It is just a big melting pot with different ingredients, but the soup is just disgusting because it is not balanced.
446  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: tutorials on how to use bitcoin core on: May 02, 2017, 07:38:07 PM
Im looking for programming tutorials on how to programm bitcoin applications using bitcoin core

please dont tell me google it, cause i been googling this for 2 years now

Actually you should sharpen your googling because i found a lot of ressources :

1- Video tutorials made by coinables, he can be found in the forum : https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC4VfjvgWBVMH1S3Aij-XvRg
2- The API calls list is great, but without some examples you could get lost : https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/API_reference_(JSON-RPC)
3- Fetch for the integrations :
   - PHP : https://github.com/aceat64/EasyBitcoin-PHP
   - RUST: https://github.com/apoelstra/rust-bitcoin
   - SCALA: https://github.com/ACINQ/bitcoin-lib
   - NODEJS: https://github.com/bitcoinjs/bitcoinjs-lib
   - Full implementation of core in nodeJS ?? https://github.com/bcoin-org/bcoin
   - NodeJS API core communication : https://github.com/freewil/node-bitcoin
4- Text tutorials :
   - Wiki: https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/How_to_accept_Bitcoin,_for_small_businesses
   - https://code.tutsplus.com/tutorials/adding-bitcoin-payment-processing-to-your-website--net-33098

448  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Will ETH overtake BTC in market cap? on: May 02, 2017, 11:26:37 AM
As long as ETH stays closed to my grand mother, he will never beat Bitcoin either in market cap or in adpotion. Ethereum is just not enough noob friendly.

Does your grandmother know her IP address when she's online? Does she know how many amperes are flowing through her house and how much it cost to produce the current that she's using to watch TV? Has she ever played with her router??

What I'm saying is that the ethereum blockchain has the potential of becoming ubiquitous just like electricity or IP addresses. Most people don't care how they work as long as they do what they're meant to do. I doubt people will be using the TERRIBLE wallets! They'll be using dapps that utilize the ETH blockchain.

As for trading volume, I've heard it all before but nothing changes. Some people say BTC volume is all fake. Every coin and asset has it's detractors.

You answered your question.

Now regarding Dapps, i really do believe that it won't ease the usage of Ethereum. The wallet is really hard to understand, i mean, the GUI should be more simple then what it is actually, or at least move most of the features to advanced mode and keep it as ismple as possible. That's what i mean when i say that my grand mother should be able to use it.

I am not a detractor, i used Ethereum when it was only CLI, when we had to use Eth and Geth to be able to mine, i even had a talk with Genoil about the possibilties of the different Nvidia GPUs for mining.
That was a long time ago, when Ethereum was great.
Later they decided to focus totally on Dapps and smart conracts, the thing is that it is now so much out of reach from common people that it is just a non sence for them to use it.

Also, just to teach you something about coins prices :
1- Devs are poor
2- Devs can't support a currencie's price because of 1
3- Eth's price isn't due to miners, because the miners sell, they don't buy.
4- Why would someone buy Ethereum ?

I would like to take more time talk about 4.
So, let's say that i have 10.000$, why would i buy them Ethereum ? What can it bring me that other cryptos can't provide me ?
Privacy ?
Stable price ?
Instant transactions ? for what ?
Passive income ?

if they have simple wallet even your grand mother should able to use then it would kill their network instantly from the current people want to try out with all the dapps. they're still trying out many different paths of making this scalable. it would probably take just another 10 years before we will ever know if this thing is useful or broke. it is now almost 5 years seen ico and begin of coding, the hype is still strong.
nothing, people are just hype about this smart contracts thing which can be done with simple java.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nick_Szabo

Yes, i always said that Ethereum is trying to reinvent the wheel. I noted also that a lot of users like the "data" param when creating a transaction. It is used to pass functions in the ethereum blockchain. What is funny here is that Bitcoin implemented that a long time ago. OP_RETURN transactions with messages, IDs, and other stuff stored in the bitcoin blockchain :
https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/OP_RETURN
http://coinsecrets.org/

What Ethereum did is just creating an "interpreter" or "Compiler" to make code out of these informations and execute it, the Ethereum VM. It is the only real different i can see between BTC and ETH, the others are just params.

Now I won't say that it can't overtake bitcoin, but rather that in a rational and logical world it shouldn't; and as I'm sure we all know, those are two things that are often lacking in this world.

Precisely. So (as they say) act like you know!

As long as ETH stays closed to my grand mother, he will never beat Bitcoin either in market cap or in adpotion. Ethereum is just not enough noob friendly.
I would like you to note something important about the market cap of Eth :
1    Poloniex   ETH/BTC    $128,753,000    $74.32    33.98%    Recently
2    Bithumb   ETH/KRW    $43,785,800    $76.35    11.56%    Recently
3    GDAX           ETH/USD    $33,186,800    $77.03    8.76%    Recently
4    Kraken   ETH/BTC    $22,763,900    $74.28    6.01%    Recently
5    Coinone   ETH/KRW    $21,537,300    $75.91    5.68%    Recently
6    Kraken   ETH/EUR    $18,631,600    $72.07    4.92%    Recently
7    Korbit    ETH/KRW    $16,135,600    $76.27    4.26%    Recently
8    Gemini   ETH/USD    $10,175,600    $76.00    2.69%    Recently
9    Poloniex   ETH/USDT    $9,592,930     $74.88    2.53%    Recently
10    Bitfinex   ETH/BTC    $9,191,480            $74.10    2.43%    Recently
11    Kraken   ETH/USD    $9,178,110      $72.90    2.42%    Recently

Considering this info, i just think that :
1- I am sure Poloniex is faking his volume of ETH.
2- Bithumb is cheating with KRW.
3- Kraken his infos doesn't have any logic for me.

Most of the volume is made with BTC KRW USD EUR USDT
1- ETH/BTC yes, this is normal
2- KRW ? seriously ? South Korea ?
3- USD and EUR ? but these exchanges and the developers are either Russians or Ukranians where is RUR ?

So i really believe there is a lot of money laundering here.
The miners are leaving Ethereum.
A lot of hyip leads to a lot of pump, sooner or later they will crash deep down because the longer the hyip is, the more expencive he is.
453  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Will ETH overtake BTC in market cap? on: May 01, 2017, 09:16:50 PM
Most likely this will happen.
To this, there are all prerequisites.

It is strenge, could you please provide us with more details about your statement ? Because a lot of people here seriously doubt that Ethereum will ever get at the level of Bitcoin.

457  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why does every new tech require an ICO? Is it just the funding? on: May 01, 2017, 08:32:10 PM
It seems that there is about 1 new ICO (mainly ERC20's on Ethereum) every week. How is it possible that each of these tech's needs its own coin and blockchain? Why don't they just develop on Ethereum?

Is it solely to get the venture capital?

They want to "create" their own coin to scam people, in reality they don't need it at all, just a bitcoin address provided by an escrow and that's all. If they do ICO with home made coins, it is just to get the full controle over it, either to scam people and run with the money, or to scam them using different schemes, like Ponzy, Pyramid, MLM ...

I seriously advise people to consider twice before investing in a project who uses his own crypto.
458  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: People can use ethereum without even knowing it on: May 01, 2017, 08:29:49 PM
It depends on what you want to do with it, as long as it is for payments only, you can, just using a GUI wallet (myst ?). But if you want to go deeper, like creating smart contracts and all these fancy things, then you should seriously consider reading more about that coin, either ETH or annother.
The first thing to do is to spend some days on the github repo, and read all the API calls, find what you could need and play with it.
459  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Will ETH overtake BTC in market cap? on: May 01, 2017, 08:27:19 PM
I think it will.

it's up to 25% of BTC marketcap and doesn't look like it's going to slow down. There are literally HUNDREDS of apps now being written for it. It wouldn't surprise me if it happens towards the end of the year.

I suppose the general question is "Are smart platforms more valuable than raw currencies?"

I seriously doubt that Ethereum will ever be the equal of Bitcoin in term of marketcap, especially because of the direction taken by the users of ethereum.

google Ethereum tutorial, and see the results, you should have hundreds of examples and tutorials about smart contracts, nothing else, just smart contracts. Basically, Ethereum is brough toward smart contracts which leads to the specialisation of users.
I just wonder why the Ethereum ecosystem is so limited. Either the amount of block explorers, APIs, open nodes, the variety of tutorials, the lack HYIPs and investment programs.

Gambling isn't taken in count because it is easy to change this and use Ethereum.

The answer is simple, Ethereum isn't user friendly. Try to do something with ethereum without using a smart contract and you will see how it is hard to achieve, a lot of peopkle just drop it out.

There is also a big lack of support from the developers. They just answer about smart contracts, nothing else.

And this is from a personal experience.

ETC is even worse.

Advantages compared to Bitcoin
 - Miners are less involved. Interesting
 - A lot more verification is done is a much more decentralized way. Does more verification means more ressources consumption ?
 - Higher capacity is possible with reasonable safety. what do you mean by reasonable safety ?
 - Changes can be made in a way that is in most cases easier and safer, but without sacrificing decentralization. Some projects aleready provides this feature
 - You don't have to run a heavy full node in order to get halfway-decent security. That's good
 - Other applications can be added to the same PoW chain in a way that is not generally disruptive to other applications. Could give more informations about this point ?

Disadvantages
 - Normal users have to download/upload and store a fair amount of data in order to receive/send transactions. This is actually an issue
 - Normal users verify most things, but not everything. Truly full verification happens only at supernodes, who will be fairly few in number. This is more fragile than Bitcoin. Centralization here
 - You somehow need to get enough independent entities to run supernodes and serve normal nodes. Running one will be somewhat expensive (much more expensive for archival supernodes), and there's no reasonable way to have the protocol directly reward them. Maybe normal nodes will sometimes have to pay a fee in order to access the network. Charity ? for how long ?
 - Although someone could choose to avoid using checkpoints, in practice the checkpoints will probably become a very important optimization that people will rely on. This is a centralizing force, though if done properly it shouldn't be too bad. But it looks like to be an old point of view compared to new coins
 - Anonymity, another big issue, is not addressed at all here, and this idea is probably incompatible with the anonymity technology in Monero, Mimblewimble, or zcash. Not even compatible with the main attraction to cryptos

Just posting my thoughts about your proposition, maybe you could solve most of the disadvantages by having a look at the most interesting crypto currencies, especially the new cryptos as they introduce many greatfeatures. Each one have his own pros and cons, but i am sure that a smart equiliber can be found there.
