I'm going to repeat this hehe

1eth = 1gpu..almost a 3080 a piece, if you hodl for a bit longer, it can be a 3080ti or a 3090.

so upgrade your gpus wisely folks  Wink ...aaaand do not fill your precious space with low hashing cards hehe

Or mine your eth selling 1/2 and holding the other half.

I can see eth over 1000 by my birthday on Jan 27

and I am not an eth fan at all

Its really difficult to predict the ETHUSD price, could go to $1000 or $1400 or $2000. However I am pretty sure it will hit at least 0.05 ETHBTC or maybe even higher. Its hard to tell when Bitcoin topped, maybe it was today, maybe it will be on Dec 31st or maybe it will grind higher and higher.

However I think that eventually, especially since there is an ETH Futures launch on CME, I think the ratio will definately grow from 0.025 to a least double or triple. No idea what the price of BTC will be by then however if you hold ETHBTC you might make your BTC grow instead of just your USD.
4502  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: What is going on with my staking? on: December 27, 2020, 07:33:21 PM
I'm staking for almost 3-4 months a coin Equihash 100% PoS not very popular and i earn 60k-70k every day (24h) with market value it's worth 10 USD but sometimes something happens and i earn 500 Coin a day and i had to wait almost 1 months to get back to earn everyday 60k, this is weird. It's like the whole blockchain is resetting and starting from the scratch.

Block reward is 100 Coin and i earn every 2-3 minutes but god... this sucks now i earn 500 Coin a day...

POS coins just like POW have a constant supply. Most likely what happened was the price went up and more people started to stake it or they staked larger amounts and there is less of a cut for everybody else. This is pretty much called difficulty. The supply of a coin needs to be capped.

This is why back in 2009, Satoshi was the only one mining BTC and he received 100% of the daily rewards and now since BTC is expensive, there are millions of miners out there each getting a small slice of the pie.

Which coin is this exactly?
4503  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Stolen ETH from my Ledger on: December 27, 2020, 03:55:17 PM
I have traded with Ledger many times and always carefully. It was probably some hacking attack on my PC, unknown to me. I thought Ledger was safe ...

The ledger isn't really safe from the recent articles surfacing about the company which had a major data breach back in July of this year. Yet they hadn't done much to secure their devices nor protect their customers.
Could these email addresses that had been published to a subsequent forum be used to get those ledger users to click on link so whenever they connect their ledger to their pc to upgrade or whatever they want to do with it, it copies an address which is the hackers deposit address instead?
Who knows but that's what it sounds like happened to your crypto located this ledger, a so called secure&safe wallet.

The way that hardware wallets work is that they have a display and it shows the destination address, so if the computer gets infected with a virus which can change the destination address to the hackers, like the old clipboard attack, you will notice it on the screen on the hardware wallet. Most people check this before they proceed with the transaction.

But if you click a link, which modifies the firmware of your HW then its possible that it can display a fake link and send it to the hackers address instead. No idea how these people are getting all their coins stolen all of a sudden. Maybe some rogue employee patched fake firmware on certain HW from the factory, who knows.

I doubt if we will see sinking hashrate on ETH.  If at all, then it will only be for a short period.  Even though the 4GB cards and the Nvidia 10x0 cards are suffocating right now, there are new cards coming on the market that will fill the hole and then some.  Then you have the ever growing number of ASICs,  I think there will be more hasrate as the price of ETH climbs higher.  Think we will have a recurrence of the mining craze in 2017 when even the neighbor's dog was mining (DOGE no doubt).
Now pondering what to do with my Sapphire Pulse 4GB cards..  They are currently mining ETH at 25MH/s each.  The week before Xmas they did 28MH/s.  The power consumption has even gone up by 5Watts each card since they were doing 30MH/s..

Yes my 4GB cards also experienced the same thing, hashed at 29MH/s for 4 years and now they are at 24MH/s, most likely in 2 days they will be at 22MH/s and in 1 week they will be less than 20MH/s or even worse. And I had the same issue with power consumption, it stayed the same or even increased. I am wondering if undervolting even more should help since they are hashing at a slower speed.

I don't own any Nvidia's so what is going on with the 10x0 GPUs? They are slowing down? I assumed it was an issued related to the software and should be fixed soon. How are the 1080's performing?

Regarding more GPUs going online? Yes its possible however there is a shortage. Now not only are miners buying them out, there are gamers who are desperate for GPUs because they are stuck at home during lockdown. So hashrate might have a smaller slope for now on.
4505  Economy / Speculation / Re: How is bitcoin worth buying now at these prices? on: December 27, 2020, 02:46:03 AM
You think its easy to double your money in trading stocks? Did you trade stocks before or did you just hear about people turning $10K into $1M on wallstreetbets.

Most stocks don't go up like 10% a day like Bitcoin. Most average like 1-2% a week if you are lucky. There are low cap stocks that can easily double or triple or 10x in a year but they are very risky and usually go bankrupt. The people who turned $10K into $1M were people gambling with call options. They basically bought very expensive calls and the stock went parabolic and that option ended up being worth like 10x in a short period. They got lucky a few times but eventually they gave all that money back when they started to buy options at the wrong time that expired worthless because the stock went the wrong way or just traded sideways.

So if you want to double your money? How much risk exactly can you take. Because this is what matters the most.
4506  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: ETH hashrate keeps growing on: December 27, 2020, 02:07:18 AM
Lets wait some more time. With each dag increase, 4GB hashrate grow down. Several weeks and they will mine ETC and RVN only. Just wait.
I'm not sure that not all owners of these video cards will switch them to other algorithms. The profit on these coins has decreased, and in 20 days it will be even worse. It may be more profitable to sell them.

This is actually what I have been doing for the past few months. Its been very easy selling GPUs ever since Covid pretty much. There are GPU and other hardware like CPUs shortages everywhere. There are lockdowns everywhere, people stuck at home, bored out of their minds, or kids with nothing to do. So there is huge demand for GPUs.

Ive been selling these RX 470 4GB for years and this is the best time to sell them. They will be lots of willing buyers and they will go fast. Not point in holding on to them and mining at like 1/3 or 1/2 the daily profits. Add a few $'s extra and get some newer GPUs.
4507  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: PhoenixMiner 5.4c: fastest Ethereum/Ethash miner with lowest devfee (Win/Linux) on: December 27, 2020, 02:00:48 AM
PhoenixMiner 5.4c: Asus rog strix RX570 4gb ETH 11,92mh
https://ibb.co/YP4X8V7
why you not mining ETC ?

Because mining ETC yields less than half the profits. Mining ETH is still most profitable on the 4GB. I got a few running on that lolminer but it runs at 24MH/s. Every DAG the speed slows down by 1 MH/s per DAG, most likely going to use for another 2 weeks and just craiglist the GPUs.

Nothing really worth mining with 4GB cards anymore. There is KawPow which yields like $0.25 after 10 cent power costs. ETH profits are almost triple of that. Then there are days when the fees are high and you can easily make 50-100% more profits.

Just sad you cant mine ETH anymore on the 4GB cards.
4508  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Number 9! Ninth altcoin thread. Back to the moon Baby! on: December 26, 2020, 10:31:11 PM
Those drops always rise however. Look at ethermine pool stats instead and zoom out to Dec 24th,
https://ethermine.org/statistics

You can see the total hashrate was 61.7TH/s or so, and now its back to 60.8TH/s so the drop is more like ~1.5% or so. The hashrate decreased by 1.5mh/s per card so its more like 5% less. Since the price went up, the profitability is still the same however.

It would of been good if also the power consumption went down also by 5% then maybe it would make up for it. But when the speeds get into the 15MH/s range, then its mostly not worth keeping them running.
4509  Economy / Speculation / Re: All in the name of money making on: December 26, 2020, 04:50:20 PM
People heard stories about how people made millions back in the 2017 and so they are waiting for a repeat right now. The way how some people turned like $10K into a million is due to buying alts or buy trading Bitcoin at high leverage.

However what most people don’t realize is that most that made a million quickly gave it back when the markets turned in 2018.

Sure there are some smart people who overcame greed and took profits however most gave it back to the market. This time it will be no different.
4510  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Number 9! Ninth altcoin thread. Back to the moon Baby! on: December 26, 2020, 04:39:05 PM
Yeah my 4GB cards are all down to 23.5mhs or so. Basically every DAG reduces the speed by at least 1mhs per card and what is worse you would think the power consumption would go down since it’s hashing slower but it uses the same power as before.

I think I will use them for 2 more dags and then shut them down. Anyone know if there is anything else to mine like Beam or Raven or whichever other coin people are mining these days. ETC makes like a dime a day after power costs.
4511  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Stolen ETH from my Ledger on: December 26, 2020, 04:13:00 PM
I'd send a message to https://twitter.com/vitalikbuterin about this.  Not that he'd fork ETH to get your coin back, but you never know.

I am pretty sure he wouldn’t do a chain rollback just to recover one theft. It would pretty much destroy the coin and this is what happened back in 2016 with the DAO hack.

Basically it almost destroyed the coin because it went from decentralized state to a centralized state. This is the reason why ETC exists today. Those stolen coins are still circulating on the ETC and the hacker sold off a small percentage of them. So tweeting him won’t get anything done but might spread awareness of the ledger phishing attacks to prevent more thefts.
4512  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: ETH hashrate keeps growing on: December 26, 2020, 03:38:16 PM
I am sure that the 4GB video cards and ASICS represented a large portion of the hash rate however as we are hitting all time high after all time high and ETH is rising, so is the difficulty.

We also have much better GPUs which are more efficient. I think if ETH traded sideways and newer GPUs didn’t came out then I think the overall hashrate would of dropped by 25% or so.

However most 8Gb got bought out by miners in the last few months and hence why hashrate is still rising.
4513  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: ETH DAG size and rig Memory on: December 25, 2020, 10:33:08 PM
I actually had a similar issue years ago when DAG was less than 2GB. I was building rigs and a few of them had only 2GB of ram. The virtual memory was something large like 32GB. However when the DAG was over 2GB I would get errors with 3GB cards.

So as a last resort I decided to try Linux and surprisingly worked. However it didn’t work with windows 7 or 10 or whichever OS i used back in 2016. So try and have at least 5Gb of ram these days to avoid this issue or try Linux.
4514  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Staking difficult? on: December 25, 2020, 06:03:34 AM
Basically the more people that stake the exact same coin, there will be less of a cut for everyone. The supply is fixed and cannot be changed. If max supply is 100 coins a day, and there is 1 staker then he will get all 100 coins in a day. If there are 100 stakers, then each will get 1 coin a day.

This is pretty much similar to POW and how difficulty keeps going up so the supply is capped.

Regarding security, its important to make sure you have good firewall, don't download software you don't trust, use a secure OS like Linux, etc. However since you are staking you need to have them on a hot wallet, can't use a hardware wallet or cold storage to protect your coins, hence the added risk.
4515  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Analysis Claymore Alternatives after EPOCH 384 (25th December) on: December 25, 2020, 05:58:49 AM
ethermine? you mine ethminer which was developed by ETH dev team back in 2015? This miner should be used maybe on a last resort case. There is nothing wrong with it but it lacks features and very outdated.

Back in late 2015, I actually was using ethminer because Claymore didnt exist. I hated it because every single DAG change, all my rigs would crash. I would have to make sure I was home during that time and be ready to reboot all the rigs.

There is also no remote monitoring, no temperature control, can't disable GPUs on the fly and so forth. So its a decent software but nobody in 2021 should be using ethminer when there are much better alternatives.
4516  Economy / Speculation / Re: Christmas 🌲 Bear 🐻 Already Started Munching! on: December 25, 2020, 02:43:40 AM
What happened yesterday was basically the SEC said that xrp is a security and sued ripple. So there was a huge dump, it was at -50% at one point. And since most tokens are most likely securities they started also dumping.

It was brutal for most coins except BTC. Many people especially people who bought alts on leverage or margin most likely got cleaned out. Today things have calmed down and many alts are back to the same levels.
4517  Economy / Speculation / Re: How degenerate is it buying and sitting on PayPal Bitcoin ? on: December 24, 2020, 06:42:17 PM
I don’t think there is anything wrong with investing in Bitcoin thru PayPal. The way that people get their Bitcoin stolen left and right it’s a good thing if the actual coins are not in their custody but instead inside PayPal’s which is more secure.

You don’t have to worry about someone hacking into your PayPal and stealing your Bitcoin, because they can’t withdraw it anyways.

Sure you can’t withdraw it but most people just are in it for the money and not technology so they don’t really care. As long as their in profit they are happy.

Only issue is the high fees that they will charge. It’s like 2% one way so 4% round trip pretty much. Which are crazy high but still cheaper than a Bitcoin Atm which is like 10%.
4518  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Will you go back/stay with Claymore if it gets fixed last minute? on: December 24, 2020, 06:21:44 PM
Nobody knows if he is actually dead. We just tracked his Dev fee wallets and found that the last transaction out was back in July of this year and when ETH reached $600 he didn’t sell any of his profits.

So either he is a die hard hodler who is waiting for ETH to go higher or he just has too much money and doesn’t want to sell or he maybe passed away, however the latter is highly unlikely.

Maybe he got a job at Google or Apple and they don’t let him disclose anything. Who knows.
4519  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Staking difficult? on: December 24, 2020, 06:11:31 PM
Staking generally has a very low difficulty because proof of work is not the main way that new coins are minted. So if you own a staking coin you can use a regular laptop to stake and just leave the wallet running.

If you want to stake a more advanced coin like ETH then you should just leave it on the exchange that supports staking and they will do it for you.

There is a certain degree of risk because you need to keep the coins on an online computer and there is some degree of risk.

Which coin do you want to stake exactly?
4520  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore's Dual Ethereum AMD+NVIDIA GPU Miner v15.0 (Windows/Linux) on: December 22, 2020, 03:25:03 AM
What is the difference between -eres 0 and -eres 3 ?

I saw some people suggesting to use -eres 3 and I'm using this and seems to be working.
Thx!

What eres command does is saves extra space on your GDDR when you first run the program and it creates the DAG. So -eres 3 loads the next 3 dags space difference. It does this because usually when there is a new DAG created and you need to rewrite it on your GPU, sometimes a crash can occur. So why the default is -eres 2. So it loads 2 extra DAG space onto your current dag.

When people started to run out of space, they changed the -eres to 1 or 0 because it loaded less on the GDDR and managed to get mining started. However it was only a temporarily fix. So -eres 3 will run out of space earlier than -eres 0 which doesn't preload any extra DAG space.

Let me know if this makes sense, its really hard to explain.
