I've looked at those sites on en.bitcoin.it and either it is WAY to much effort to register on sites like MtGox, or it is a scam. Thanks for the insight though I will look further into your suggestions.
According to Charlie Shrem of BitInstant, their cash deposit methods are going to be available in Canada (several weeks away yet though): - http://codinginmysleep.com/bitcoin-mastercard-followup-interview-with-charlie-shrem/

I am looking for a trusted buyer with whom I can exchange Canadian Dollars for BitCoins.
I recently responded in another thread: You can deposit cash at Royal Bank, Bank of Montreal or ScotiaBank, and it will be credited to your account at CA VirtEx, generally same day I believe. - http://www.CAVirtex.comI heard you can use VirWox to buy linden dollars with a credit card and convert it to bitcoins, can anyone confirm this and/or tell me how? That is possible, but that method too is not immediate. I believe there is at least a 1-day delay after the payment is processed before the SLLs are received. There is one method that might work. BitcoinNordic accepts funds using CashU. CashU funds can be purchased online in Canada from a couple online merchants: - https://www.cashu.com/site/findResellersInfo - http://www.BitcoinNordic.comApparently, KashU funds can be purchased in Canada as well. KashU is another funding method for use in paying for a CashU transaction: - http://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/UKash#North_AmericaI don't know those methods well, so I'm not sure if it is a fast transaction. The fees aren't necessarily pretty either. You might also find a local trade: - http://www.localbitcoins.comThere are multiple options: - http://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Buying_bitcoins

Is it only possible to restore your backup wallet from blockchain.info with Multibit? Is it not possible to restore with Bitcoin-Qt?
Soooo...if it's only Multibit then would I have issues running two clients on the same machine? Multibit AND Bitcoin-Qt???
You can export your Blockchain.info wallet unencrypted, and then import the keys into Bitcoin-Qt. Import/Export -> Advanced -> "Export Unencrypted"

I'm new to this whole bitcoin thing. I'm looking for a trustworthy member that I can exchange USD for 23 bitcoin. Looking to use CC, PP or similar. I tried to get setup with liqpay and qiwi, but the translation sucks. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks You probably wont' find much luck trying to buy bitcoins with credit card or PayPal. PayPal's User Agreement prohibits using the payment network for currency transactions, so no commercial exchanges offer it. Credit card transactions can be easily reversed so there are almost no methods where credit cards are used to purchase bitcoins. You don't mention where you are. If you are in the U.S., QuickBitcoins.net apparently shows credit card as a purchase method yet, though that the coins aren't delivered immediately: - http://www.QuickBitcoins.net Quite simply, depositing cash at a bank or 7-11, Walmart, CVS is going to be the fastest and easiest way. - http://www.Bitfloor.com (Deposit cash at any Chase or Wells Fargo. No fee) - http://www.BitInstant.com (Deposit at major banks, 7-11, Walmart, CVS, Moneygram, etc., or in Brazil using Boleto or Banco Recomendito, or in Russia, using Qiwi or Cyberplat.) - http://www.CAVirtEx.com (Deposit cash at several banks) - http://www.Spendbitcoins.com (Deposit cash at a bank in Australia) - http://www.MrBitcoins.com (Deposit at a bank in U.S., India, Australia) - http://BitcoinNordic.com (Purchase CashU or UKash in dozens of countries) The fees aren't trivial but you can use a credit card to purchase by using VirWoX where you can buy SLL using your Serve card as a credit card, then trade SLL for BTC: - http://www.VirWoX.comThis probably does't help you if you are looking to spend the coins anytime soon, but you can buy physical Bitcoin, paid for with credit card: - http://memorydealers.com/catalogsearch/result/?q=bitcoinYou might be able to find a local trade: - http://www.localbitcoins.comThere are all kinds of options: - http://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Buying_bitcoins

1- On paycard, how my bitcoins will be traded to dollar?
There was a followup article where this was discussed: There are multiple options for card funding being investigated. BTC->USD conversion could occur: - When the BTC arrives at the address on the card (Charlie called this the "worst-case scenario")
- When a purchase is made with the card (Charlie called this the "best-case scenario" and said it relies on integration with the banks that probably won't happen)
- On-demand via a smartphone app or web site (Charlie called this the "middle-of-the-road scenario" and confirms it's the most likely to actually happen)
- http://codinginmysleep.com/bitcoin-mastercard-followup-interview-with-charlie-shrem/2- Will Bitinstant have accounts on "all" Exchanges? How I'll be sure that my bitcoins will be traded by the best value? 3- Will BitInstant have any tool to automatically scan "all" exchanges to see the best bid values including the fees charged by the exchanges, when the user be converting the coins to dollar.
I have no idea how BitInstant will come up with the exchange rate that will be used before subtracting the 1.5% fee (or whatever ends up being the rate). One problem is that the quantity is a factor that will affect that rate due to slippage. Because BitInstant will likely be immediately entering trades for the coins received, it is unlikely they will simply be able to route orders to the "best bid" and instead will need to trade where there is both liquidity and the ability to move those fiat funds to wherever the debit card reserves are held. With the international card though, if the debit card balance is for a currency other than USD (e.g., EUR) then it might be interesting though where the coins might be traded on BTC/EUR markets instead of through BTC/USD ones. Here's a thread on the Paycard with BitInstant's comments: - http://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=101838.0

Do Intersango have a phone number? I can't seem to find one on their web site. You might try their IRC. Remember they are in London (i.e., GMT) and idle in the channel after posting your question rather than closing out if you don't get a response right away. - http://webchat.freenode.net/?channels=#Intersango

Unfortunately you are not the only one. We had to take some urgent action and archive users wallet history data that are three month old or over three month old and this due to the large size (over 18GB of txt) that started to affect Mt.Gox performances and stability.
And you were going to communicate this issue to your customers when?

This suggests that a large fraction of 2009 coins are not being hoarded, but have been lost. What is it that leads you to that conclusion?

There’s no doubt that going forward, virtual currencies such as bitcoin will play an increasingly larger role in both the online gambling world and in the overall online economy, but for the moment, it’s still not quite ready for prime time. Completely overlooked is the point that Jon Matonis clearly pointed out. The dynamic duo of pseudonymus digital currency + provably fair gaming = a dramatically lowered barrier to opening and operating an online gaming service. Before, only the well funded ventures could survive long enough to get through setting up in a proper jurisdiction where that type of service is allowed, working with payment processors, working with online gaming regulatory organizations, possibly going through an audit, etc. Once the Farmville and html5 game developers realize that there's not much stopping them from offering online wagering, the next online gaming success story could come from the unlikeliest of sources.

This thread has become an absolute cacophony of "help". Here's the first, most basic question that might help to figure this out. What happened to the original 28 BTC? This link shows two transactions: - http://blockchain.info/address/1FtWDqjyiuPVzh3tabdb7XoWnVX6gVEg1MThe first transaction was for 28.25140702 BTC on Aug-28-2012. 1) Yeah i purchased 28 coins!
OK, so do you still have those 28.25140702 coins? If you do, then where (e.g., your own Bitcoin-qt client)? Because wherever those 28.25140702 are now, that's where the 76.18247679 withdrawn on Aug-31-2012 went as well. [Update: That 76.18247679 is worth a lot more than £200. So there's some inconsistency here. by accident I used Mt Gox Account to send my £200 of bitcoin to a SEND ADDRESS generated by my wallet. Well bitcoin has no concept of "£200" so you'll want to describe precisely the Bitcoin withdrawal transaction . On your withdrawal history in Mt. Gox you will see the date/time, the amount and the address of the withdrawal transaction. Please copy that and paste it here. Here's the link to get that withdrawal history, once you've logged in: - https://mtgox.com/trade/account-history?currency=BTC ]

If anyone has some ideas of an awesome BTC related web project or some desktop software - PM me / share it here. Here's an service that I wish someone would build: One thing that would be useful is a way people can redeem private keys to a destination address of their choosing. It is a simple process. One field is for the input of the private key (which can be scanned using a QR code). A second field is for the Bitcoin address where the funds are to be sent (also could be a QR code scan). (or SMS or e-mail address and send the bitcoins that way, or through Coinapult's API maybe?). So the web app (which works well from a mobile as well) gets these two pieces of information, applies a small handling fee, and broadcasts the spend transaction. (Use bitcoind v0.7 which lets you create and send a raw transaction) Easy peazy. Access EasyWallet.org from a mobile to see a mobile-enabled web site that does 90% of the UI for this: - http://www.EasyWallet.orgBut nobody has done this yet for redeeming private keys. There are reasons people wouldn't want to use this, as that private key is now compromised (as you have a copy of it), so a person would never want to use this for an address that they might receive additional funds at in the future. But for something like a paper bitcoin from BitAddress.org, there is currently no easy way for someone to use that and redeem it and have the funds sent elsewhere. You could even add features from there that make it even more useful. For instance, let the user enter how much they want to redeem, and then ask for an additional address for where to send the change. Or redeem multiple private keys at once, etc. There are all kinds of uses for a stite (and/or mobile app) that does this.

hey guys im looking to buy about 140$ in BTC. I am canadian and I would like to pay using email interac ASAP...
looking for someone with good reputation
I've seen Interac cash-out methods but that isn't accepted at any exchanges due to it not being a non-reversible form of payment. If you can't find a trade here, keep in mind that there are plenty of cash deposit methods accepted by Canadian exchanges. - http://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Buying_bitcoins

I'm locking in my gains here ($10.10) just to guarantee a roughly 5% gain (after subtracting trading fees).
On IRC I was asked how I can refer to this weekend dip trade as a gain when really what I did was close a prior position when selling last Thursday and then opening a new position today. I had explained that if you are still of the mindset that your wealth is measured in dollars (or whatever form of fiat you generally use), then that would be correct -- the weekend dip trade closes a previous trade and opens a new one. If instead you think of bitcoins as being your base currency, then this weekend's dip trade resulted in a gain on an investment held just over the weekend. But I'm debating on whether or not to phrase the trade using the right terms. Instead of saying I was selling coins on Thursday what I should have said was that I was buying dollars. Then today, I sold those dollars and as a result of that trade I got back about 5% more bitcoins versus the amount I had spent on Thursday. Thus using the term "5% gain on the weekend dip trade' is the correct way to phrase it. It gets confusing switching back and forth on what is referred to as the base currency though.
