461  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Sia - Decentralized Storage - Working Beta - Currency has been released on: September 03, 2015, 11:13:46 AM
How quickly will SC be emitted?  I've read total supply will be over 14,000,000,000 in less than a year and is only ~4,000,000,000 now.
462  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XCP] Counterparty - Pioneering Peer-to-Peer Finance - Official Thread on: September 02, 2015, 02:57:32 PM
Is XCP still relevant in the crypto scene?

Is anything except XCP and its Bitcoin meta-protocol relevant at all currently? I'm having trouble with my search... Everything else seems to be an out of consensus Bitcoin fork.

+1

However as i said back in the beginning of post-burn, and again now, Counterparty needs greater marketing effort.
Symbiont is a small fish in the sea of potential adopters yet whenever i check this thread symbiont is all everyone talks about.
Counterparty revolutionises finance, it hitches on the back of bitcoin protocol fame, security and robustness. It makes new coins like ethereum irrelevent.
Question is,
How can we maximise efforts to tell the world about Counterparty?
thats all that is needed!

I disagree.  Any crypto project that could use Counterparty will already consider using Counterparty.
I am not solely talking about crypto projects

I think that's (part of) what Symbiont is up to.

That info is much appreciated.  What are your next steps with this?  Taking a break?
465  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XCP] Counterparty - Pioneering Peer-to-Peer Finance - Official Thread on: September 02, 2015, 01:26:40 PM
Keep talking about Symbiont in this thread becomes a little bit off topic. We all know now the first priority of Symbiont is the private ledger and their potential big customers are banks. Let's concentrate on the progress of Counterparty itself.

Disagree.
466  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SWARM] Swarm - Cryptoequity Crowdfunding - Official Thread on: August 31, 2015, 01:55:15 AM
My concern as an investor is that SWARM is a Counterparty token and it sounds like you're moving away from Counterparty.

Let's try to address that concern this week as we plan next steps.

It sounds like you are very open in your decision-making processes.  Have you considered taking that further and posting about the choices you are making along the way in this long journey?  Perhaps on discourse.swarm.fund.
467  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SWARM] Swarm - Cryptoequity Crowdfunding - Official Thread on: August 26, 2015, 02:06:44 PM

Thank you for the update.  Where does this leave SWARM investors?

I think the same principles apply that have always applied:

[1] SWARM holders will be able to choose new delegates after the present implementation cycle is complete.
[2] Value of the network and SWARM will be established as business value is established
[3] SWARM holders get the Swarm basic income as projects launch

Any other ideas?

zeeman, any info for us at all?

Well, there was the thread on Counterparty that discussed it and it was also discussed in the Skype chat. You could have also looked at the block and transactions yourself to find out what was the case.

This thread?

https://counterpartytalk.org/t/what-exactly-happened-on-block-368-396/1391/12

Nothing was made clear in that thread until Symbiont issued their most recent announcement.  I'm not sure why you think a) the realization that Symbiont's security issuance does not use Counterparty and b) Symbiont's most recent announcement took place at different times:

Yeah, that sucked. I'm more speaking to the recent dump that came with the announcement even more recently.

According to the posts in that thread (and this thread), those two things happened at the same time.

The first post in that thread which was made 18 days ago says "FACT: No Counteparty transactions in that block."

That should pretty clearly answer a and b for you.

That same first post speculates that Symbiont used a fork of Counterparty for testing their security issuance which would explain the lack of Counterparty transactions in that block.  No one knew Symbiont's first and thus far only product release would not use Counterparty until they issued their most recent announcement.  Or if anyone did know they made sure not to mention it in this thread or in the above-referenced one.

Yes, their smart security issued on the bitcoin blockchain.

Am I the only one that was hoping Symbiont's first project (their blockchain-based security issuance) would incorporate Counterparty?  For me, that's what this dump was about.  We potentially had a near-term, real world, major use case for Counterparty by a VC-backed company and yesterday we found out that we don't.  That's not to say Counterparty is dead, far from it, but this news was a letdown for me for that reason.

Yeah, that sucked. I'm more speaking to the recent dump that came with the announcement even more recently. This is what makes no sense to me.

Was it made known previous to this most recent announcement from Symbiont that their blockchain security would not incorporate Counterparty?
475  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XCP] Counterparty - Pioneering Peer-to-Peer Finance - Official Thread on: August 21, 2015, 02:26:42 PM
Yesterday's news was worded very generally without any details and that's why the interpretations vary so widely. It raises more questions than it answers. It would help if they would give some specific examples about what Symbiont plans to do with Counterparty, and also some specific examples about what can't be done with it.

Quite right.  I was mocked after asking for any information on any Counterparty project in the works at Symbiont.  Currently, we don't know of one.

Symbiont is funding Counterparty development and they are going to be using Counterparty where the usecases are appropriate.

That's not news.  We did get some news this morning though.
478  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XCP] Counterparty - Pioneering Peer-to-Peer Finance - Official Thread on: August 20, 2015, 04:41:48 PM
It's like we're reading two different things. Best luck to you, I don't have the will to repeat things to try to make you see what's clearly written in the update. Sell your XCP quick, I guess.

You must be really busy, I guess.
479  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XCP] Counterparty - Pioneering Peer-to-Peer Finance - Official Thread on: August 20, 2015, 04:34:42 PM
Update: We will use Counterparty for everything it's good for, when our clients want a solution that requires something like Counterparty and regulations permit it.

Reaction: FML, it's over. Oh, and can we have more information, please, even though you just updated us.

I don't even know what to say.

Previously we thought we knew of a Counterparty project which Symbiont was working on.  Now we know that we don't.

Also your first sentence (sarcastic because that isn't new information) and your second sentence (sarcastic because we are being greedy for *more* new information) are in complete disagreement with each other.
480  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XCP] Counterparty - Pioneering Peer-to-Peer Finance - Official Thread on: August 20, 2015, 04:11:50 PM
The takeaway should be that Symbiont has a lot more resources than Counterparty has alone, so we'll be working on products that are orthogonal to Counterparty *as well*. (We'll also have more resources than ever dedicated to Counterparty itself.)

Are you speaking from the perspective of Counterparty or Symbiont?  If the former, you're saying that the Counterparty dev group will be working (in part) on products orthogonal to Counterparty?  If the latter, is Symbiont currently working on any product that incorporates Counterparty?

When I wrote 'we', I meant 'Symbiont'; Symbiont is doing a lot with Counterparty.

We would love to know any more about that.  Anything at all.
