I just saw a TikTok video of Mr. Ramon Ang being interviewed by Anthony Taberna. In the interview, Mr. Ang mentioned that his company is spending at least 1 billion pesos a year on their teams in the NBA. It seems that these teams aren't making a profit, but they can't remove them because it would upset the public. He also pointed out that the Bay Area Dragons vs. Ginebra Game 7 Finals had more attendance from fans compared to the opening of the FIBA WC or the first game of Gilas Pilipinas.

What are your thoughts on this? Is he telling the truth that these teams aren't making money? And what should the league do to make every team profitable?

IMHO, Boss Ramon Ang was telling the truth but the teams were already there so he had no choice but to continue what others before him (Danding Cojuangco) have form. Money is not an issue I think at their level because if you have a team on the PBA, your taxes will be adjusted so i think something is coming to the pocket of the owners.

I also saw that interview and was amazed at how Boss RSA lived a simple life.
462  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Luis Alberto Lopez Vs Joet Gonzalez IBF World Featherweight Title SEP 15 2023 on: September 16, 2023, 05:26:09 AM
The fight is a give-and-take between the two fighters but Lopez is getting the most out of the exchanges this is a fast-paced fight one of them could lose a gas if this goes in the championship rounds I have Lopez ahead by 2 rounds here, check out the live feed here.

Luis Alberto Lopez Vs Joet Gonzalez Live

UPDATE: Luis Alberto Lopez retains his title via unanimous decision It was a great fight but Gonzalez cannot keep up with Lopez's rapid punching and good ring generalship.

Kudos to Gonzales for going the distance despite being outgunned by Lopez. It was clear from the start that Gonzales had no opportunity to win as he does not have that pop that could intimidate Lopez but nevertheless, it was a good fight.

One thing i observed on Lopez was that his defense wasn't so good and this is crucial if he fought Inoue in the future as i think Top Rank will be cooking this fight to make Inoue a 4-division champion as Lopez is very beatable.

I'll watch the fight I want to see great action, Lopez is a good prospect in the boxing world his style is very much similar to Jorge Arce and Fernando Montiel, he is a small guy but loves to mix it up in the future he'll have a lot of great fights and I see him fighting Navarette in the future or even Pitbull Cruz.
I expect Lopez to knock out Gonzalez probably in the late rounds, Lopez loves to punish his opponents before knocking them out just like in his last fight against Conlan.

If you to watch the fight, it will happen tomorrow and the cards will begin @8am PH time. I've tried to search in my favorite bookies as i'm interested to bet and looking on whose gonna be the favorite but there were no odds found in my favorite bookies.

Good for boxing fans in Thailand, Indonesia and the Philippines because per Top Rank post, the fight will be aired for free in these three countries.

Quote
The #LopezGonzalez card will stream live & exclusively in Thailand, Indonesia and the Philippines.

Dallas Wings - Atlanta Dream

The stake odds for this game are 1.33 for the Dallas Wings and 3.05 for the Atlanta Dream, for this game Lou Lopez Senechal, and Diamond DeShields both have knee injuries and both also is out for this season for the Dallas Wings, while Nia Coffey has a hand injury and is out of the season for the Atlanta Dream, and Asia Durr has a knee injury and is questionable if she can play for the Atlanta Dream, for this game even though the Dallas Wings seems ok with their two players that are out for this season because they are the favorite to win this match-up, for me this could be a chance for the underdog to win the game so I am going with the Atlanta Dream,

With the following reasons you have mentioned above, no doubt i will tail your bet as i seldom see you put a bet on this kind of odds. Two key players are and still they are the favorites to win, this might be a trap but like i said i'm going to tail your bet and also i love underdogs to win ballgames hehe.

The other day, i bet for the Aces -18.5 as per my observation, they usually blew their opponents by huge margin and glad that they did.

466  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Casimero vs Oguni - October 12 on: September 15, 2023, 09:42:58 AM
Following your argument, it's true that after Inoue unifies all the belt from the previous division and manages to un-strip the current
champ from this new division, he gains lots of hypes and confidence.

While with Casimero, after being un-strip due to regulation, he's still trying to find that momentum to earn the position of being a title challenger.

They've got different position as of now, and we don't know if Casimero will have that opportunity to meet Inoue inside the ring.

I'm following Casimero's YouTube vlog and it seems that he is just taunting Inoue to fight but he is not so keen if the fight will happen or not, I mean he also got his own fight and make money out of it, the Inoue fight will just be a bonus of his career if they meet one day in the square ring fighting.

Casimero is not getting younger but he has his own money-making schemes like endorsement deals and business outside of boxing so I think if he can't fight Inoue that would be okay for him.
467  Local / Pamilihan / Re: [Basketball]Gilas Pilipinas Asian Games 2023 Update on: September 14, 2023, 11:44:20 AM

Thompson to Brownlee connection, ilista na yan.

@Baofeng, Shakur Stevenson has a new opponent bro, maybe you can unlock your thread and change the opponent to Edwin De Los Santos as we already have more than 5 pages i think on that discussion hehe.

Though not like Martin who is undefeated, De Los Santos packs a punch as he KOed 14 of his 17 opponents, not bad opponent for Shakur though.

470  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Casimero vs Oguni - October 12 on: September 13, 2023, 11:51:53 AM
Oh that's good to hear that he has his own gym now, I mean that's how you give back to your community. Of course he can used it personally to train if he has incoming fights. But it will also give other younga and upcoming boxers to train there as it could have a good facility. Until those gym that Manny used when he was still in the beginning of his career. Although it could have help Filipino boxers to get used to obscured boxing arena's and fight, but still good if there will be some gyms that they can start with par with many gyms in the world. No odds yet though, so we will have to wait for a bit and see what options we had that will likely give us a good return or profits betting on John Riel Casimero here.

Yeah, the gym is very helpful for those youngsters who want to be boxers as they have now a facility where they can practice for free and if they are serious enough and become a prodigy then that could alleviate them from poverty as most of the kids that are training in Casimero's gym came from poor families. Good thing that Quadro Alas provided some of the kids that have potential the equipment like running shoes and shorts for training.

472  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022–23 PBA Commissioner's Cup on: September 13, 2023, 10:34:59 AM
Yeah, that was him, we can read some article regarding that.

Tim Cone apologizes to Justine Baltazar for ‘hasty remarks’ on Gilas Pilipinas availability

Therefore I think there has been no more issue between them, afterall Tim Cone is the coach and Baltazar is the player, so it's still up to the coach if he will pick Baltazar to be part of the roster. Personally, I'm more excited to see the veterans, particularly Romeo, as I'm sure the team will be entertaining to watch.

I'm wrong in my speculation that Baltazar will join the Gilas for the Asian Games because per Spin.Ph, coach Tim Cone is not gonna pick this guy at least for this Asian stint because he is not familiar with Baltazar's style of play and they have no more time to adjust therefore the list that was released the other week is final.

For sure we will see Baltazar in a Gilas uniform after this Asian Games, maybe in the FIBA qualifying tournament as he will be part of the pool by that time.
473  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022–23 PBA Commissioner's Cup on: September 12, 2023, 12:01:41 PM
Not sure why CStand is not in the lineup as for me he's really good protector /defender inside, plus his connection with Junemar, Mo' and TR7 really adds up for the team, same faces with JBL administering them, it's something that we as fans will enjoy the Asian Games. Like you, I'm also in that same thinking that this squad would be enough to bring pride for our country.

Maybe CStand is on vacation in Germany that's why he is not included in the pool but I think that the recently released line-up will change a bit because i have read an article that they will invite Justine Baltazar, an agile big man who could also help Fajardo on the boards since AJ Edu is not available. I prefer to have Balatazar in the squad rather that Mo Tautua, who is for me not fit in an international kind of play.
474  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Casimero vs Oguni - October 12 on: September 12, 2023, 11:08:32 AM
Casimero ML @ 1.10 is quite high and it's somehow unrealistic, so I don't think that the bookies will list it like that knowing Casimero's odds in his past fights are more than that even if the fight still looks the same just like this as Casimero still have the upper hand.

So yes, it's somewhere 1.30 to 1.40 in favor of Casimero. Those odds will be worth it already as I don't really see this Oguni as a threat in Casimero's streak. Aside from that, I'll be watching for some options while the fight is getting near.

I'm sure that as the fight goes near, there are many options/markets in the bookies and i'm contemplating on betting for Casimero to win by knockout as he is so serious now on his training and the good about his training is that he won't go anywhere else as he has built his own gym in his own backyard, this way he could save a lot of money and no more nightlife for sure.
475  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Inoue vs Tapales for Unified Super Bantamweight Title - November on: September 12, 2023, 10:56:01 AM
As of now, there's no other Filipino boxer who could potentially give a good challenge to Inoue. It's not Tapales but it's Casimero.

The closest will be Casimero, but we still don't know how the fight will be because they haven't fought yet and we don't know if they will ever will as the ball in in the court of Casimero to be impressive in the super bantamweight division before he will be given the chance to fight the champion in Inoue.

Casimero is heavy-handed and could knock out opponents with just one punch, an attribute that Tapales doesn't have and it speaks on his record with a little above 50 percent KO wins and we have seen how Inoue staggered after he was hit by that lethal hook of Donaire so maybe if it's Casimero's punch that would touch Inoue's chin, there is a chance that the latter would go down.

So sad that until now there are no solid information yet on when the fight will be held but rest assured guys that this will push though IMHO.

476  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022–23 PBA Commissioner's Cup on: September 11, 2023, 01:07:33 PM
We have a new update on the Gilas roster for the upcoming Asian Games under Coach Tim Cone. Here are the players who could possibly play.

-  Calvin Abueva
-  Terrence Romeo
-  Mo Tautuaa
- Stanley Pringle
- Calvin Oftana
- Chris Newsome
-  Jason Perkins
- Ange Kouame
- Justin Brownlee

We can read the full story here ;

https://www.espn.co.uk/basketball/gilas/story/_/id/38376375/calvin-abueva-terrence-romeo-back-fray-gilas-pilipinas-set-ring-changes-asian-games

Since there is no limit for naturalized players, I do hope that they will include CStand in the lineup to add more muscle in the front court and also Justine Baltazar, hope the issue with him and the Gilas coaching staff will be resolved and he could be in Gilas as this kid is very promising and he adds ceiling to this roster also.

Since this is only the Asian Games, I do think that this current pool is competitive enough sans injuries on the core like Junemar Fajardo and Justine Brownlee.
477  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Friendly wagers in Bitcointalk on: September 11, 2023, 12:35:30 PM
It should be a fun thing only with small amounts and hopefully everyone keeps his word, I know many people would say that it’s better to just bet on a casino but I think it’s more fun here and also sometimes you can agree on better returns.
What do you think about this? I hope it’s not breaking any rules here.

We have some P2P betting on our local especially if it's in the finals of our national basketball League and yeah it's fun and so far we have not encountered any problems on doing that, losers not paying, or not heard that we have broken some rules in the forum but usually we bet on the bookies as it is the very convenient and safest way to bet and not worry if your opponent will pay you or not.
478  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 23/24 European basketball discussion: Euroleague/BBL/ACB/LegaA/LNB/TBL.. on: September 11, 2023, 11:52:50 AM
TBH, I've got no knowledge about this Euro league but for sure there are betting odds for this league and I think this thread will be helpful for us that has little or no knowledge of what's going on in Euro basketball.

Will closely watch this thread so that I can gain knowledge on whom or where to bet.

Do most of those players we have watched on FIBA'23 will play on this tournament?

479  Local / Pamilihan / Re: UPDATE ON FIBA WORLD CUP! on: September 11, 2023, 11:38:13 AM
USA?  Cheesy

Like about sa gilas makakapasok kaya?

480  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 - Betting and Discussions on: September 10, 2023, 11:55:09 AM
Less than an hour already before it starts. I actually have ML bets on Canada and Serbia.

Congrats on your win on Canada bro, that's awesome. Team USA almost catch-up but they fell short. On the Final's game, i have in my mind on betting for Germany but upon seeing your post, I changed my mind and bet for Serbia hehe hope I won't be the reason why Serbia lost this game if ever. Odds are almost even so this is just a guessing game for us whose teams got eliminated early hehe.
