461  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BITMAIN AntMiner APW3-12-1600 PSU Series on: July 17, 2015, 04:07:37 AM
It would be nice if Bitmain could review their own threads and answer some above questions asked.  You would probably get more sales that way.
Can you answer these questions above please.

What first caught my eye in Bitcoin was the community and the lack of big business, at first it was just a hobby with great potential.  Supported by other hobbyists with an initial goal, to build the bitcoin community.  It did take awhile before companies sprouted up to take our money and build their cursed FARMS.  The pre farm days was a golden time in my opinion.
I fully support sidehack and Novak, their commitment and goals seem honest and legit.  I foresee you doing quite well in the coming months as long as you lock in chip manufacturers support.
Sidehack I totally agree on your Bitmain stance, the good and bad.  I've always felt some of these companies could produce a product cheaper, more efficient and more powerful but dumb them down to sell to the public.  I hope I never see a miner model called a + again, it's just a slap in the face and an insult to the communities intellect given the past products.
I appreciate your candor in your business decisions and hope all the best for GekkoScience.

Cost of shipping these is $40 minimum, I know........  and they don't travel well.  I have one on CL now, Ebay takes too long to pay, another with 1 bad hashing board and no psu.  Been keeping these ones just in case a miracle happens, but seeing how Bitmain is that miracle won't be cheap.  Too bad these run like a champ and are fairly quiet.

The gridseeds price stayed firm for many moons.  Only long after it was obsolete did the price dwindle.  The "Black" because of it's specs was in for the long haul.

Definately a must have but not at that price.  At the beginning of the year, maybe but litecoin split emminent price is $200-$300 too high.  Awaiting other contenders unfortunately.

As always graphic cards being used for scrypt mining are worked hard constantly.  Doesn't mean the card isn't still good for gaming but my cards the fans were the first to go.  Prices should reflect usage, just my opinion.  Good luck with the sale.
469  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S2 upgrade kit? EDIT: BITMAIN WHERE ARE YOU?!?! on: July 14, 2015, 10:51:37 PM
Rude!  That's all I have to say to Bitmain.  Money hungry Pigs!  Great products for the most part but selling PreMined equipment is just uncool!  We're fools if we don't believe they have the tech but choose to upgrade their own farms first, then try and sell them as S7's.  May be wrong but the silence would tell anyone that this is the course.
Don't ever again advertise a product you don't intend to ship, not just once but twice.
470  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Antminer s2 Problem on: July 14, 2015, 10:40:12 PM
Yes try and flash the firmware but also get the cooling down.   67 is pretty warm, mine were all around 57 and under with no problems.  You can always move the board to a different slot and see if it's the board or a problem with the backplane or lack of power.  (those stock psu's are pushed to their max.)
471  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Want to get started mining, am I too late? on: July 14, 2015, 06:12:36 PM
I had done some CPU mining back in the early days, then GPU mining some alt-coins back in the big run up in 2013. I've been out of the game for the last year or so, because the economics just didn't make sense.

I just moved into a new place, and am getting solar installed that will just about net out my electricity usage. What that means is that I should have some capacity in my "base" tier ($0.07 / kWh) to run an asic miner, if it made sense.

To be honest, I don't know where to start. Is it best to buy new miner or get an older miner used? Is there anything coming available soon that would make sense to wait on? Is there anything available today that can be run small scale, and not cost more to run than it makes?

I'm not looking to get rich, it would be more of a hobby thing. But I don't want to run the hobby if it's going to run negative the whole time.
How many hobbies do you know that could be lucrative in the near future?  Mining has stabilized.  The more you spend, the more potentially you could make.  Could is the key word.  The game has changed.
472  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S4 Discussion and Support Thread on: July 13, 2015, 10:40:39 PM
I have an antminer S4. It powers u p but does not connect or hash.

Here is what happens when I turn on the power.

1) Fans power up at high speed. The screen has power, but no text. Green LED next to screen is lit.
2) Fans power to a lower speed. Screen is still lit, but no text. Green LED turns off.
3) the word "Antminer-" appears on the screen
4) The 4 line screen display comes on line. Green LED is not lit.
5) the display says:
     Antminer S4
     127.0.0.1
     0 GH/s
     Max 0 C

The green light next to the display does not come on either.

6) this is as far as the boot process goes. It never acquires an IP address, or start to hash.

Steps I have taken to troubleshoot:

1) check the ethernet cable, power cable, connection. I swapped in a functioning S4, and it powers up and connects to the internet and hashes.

2) Swapped the microSD chip from a functioning S4 with the chip from the non-hashing S4. Same results, Powers up but does not hash (no change in other words)

3) checked all cable connections. all appear good.

4) checked the voltage at the power leads to the board with a multimeter. Reads 25 V

5) Used a port scanner on my network before and after powering the Antminer. There are no new connections.

Can you please suggest additional troubleshooting steps?
Are you solo mining?  Change your miners ip in network settings to 192.168.1.200 or anything after 200 (if the ip of your router is 192.168.1.1).  If you can't pull it up in the browser ( ie 127.0.0.1 ) try a factory reset that will change the ip to 192.168.1.99.  You then need to re input your pool settngs.

Yes.. Bitmain playin their hand in a market of greed.  Mining equipments price should decrease.  That would be the norm and honest thing to do not in this market though.  Same should be if your product is late to market....time is money.  They're all holding back for someone to show their hand.
474  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: New R-Box Upgrade Kit on: July 08, 2015, 06:27:14 PM
I found the original Rbox software a little buggy.  Had to reset every few days.  I don't know if that carried on with the new Rbox.  Sure liked the simple design though.  Price would be the factor.
475  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BITMAIN AntMiner APW3-12-1600 PSU Series on: July 08, 2015, 05:08:42 AM
Just to be totally clear, if you have an S4 and you buy this psu everything to convert it to the ring/terminal connections from pcie is included or do you have to request v1 when ordering?  Thanks... this shouldn't be this confusing but I hate to open the package and find out it has the wrong connections. Tongue
476  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S4 Discussion and Support Thread on: July 03, 2015, 05:02:29 AM
I'm in need of that Psu for my S4 but how do I order it with ring terminal ends and not the pcie connectors?
477  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Sfards: SF100-the first 28nm Dual-Mode Miner gets into mass production on: July 02, 2015, 03:11:02 AM
Seems like roll out is moving closer but still at a snails pace.  Which is good since their previous devices were somewhat stable at release.  Just anxious for some renewed blood in the mix again.

479  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S2 upgrade kit? EDIT: BITMAIN WHERE ARE YOU?!?! on: June 26, 2015, 11:39:00 PM
I'm feeling like it's almost too late to roll these out unless they go for cheap.  And we know that won't happen.  It really is BS that they say 3 months ago they are in the final stage of testing and then nothing at all.  Makes you keep repeating their own words spoken in the forum...."Bitmain is a for profit company".  Of course you are, duh... but acting hush on the matter only makes us look elsewhere.
480  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S4 Discussion and Support Thread on: June 13, 2015, 09:06:17 PM
Looking at it from the front, in the s4, which board is which chain?
One of my original B2 s4's is acting up and finally failed in a manner that kept the controller/GUI accessible. Says that chain 3 is all ----------
Cheers!

Someone made a text diagram early on in this thread but I can't find it, and my S4 is probably different to most as it was an early one. The dead board might be highlighted by no LED activity though, worth a look.
Tried that. At least for the versions that used PCIe power connectors like this one, there are no LED's on the boards. There *is* a row of very tiny ones on the controller board that could serve the same functions but is no way these eyes can see what they are labeled.

As usual after it has gone down, after a power down and short rest it again came back up at full speed. The 2 other times it went down the controller was dead - no lan plug lights, no blinking CPU light, no red light.

To cover other questions, all fans are fine, free spinning, no axial play to the blades. Temps 55-59c (room is 90F). Psu light is green.

Here is the Board Diagnostics it shows which port should be chain 3 in one of it's diagrams - https://bitmain.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/203361315-Board-Diagnostics

When it say's the row 3 all with"-"s does it run at 1.5T area?   Or is it not running at all during this time?
Yes I have the same issue and yes hashes about 1.5 th and its only chain 3.  No led on chain 3 and power about 1000w.
