I'm sure you have noticed how there is a divide growing with new ideas, they all seem to be leaning towards web based solutions, wehere they control your private keys.... I want to provide those same services right off the chain, why use a web wallet when you can get all the perks and extra security using a core wallet? Hell, we can even have someone offering a service of just storing a 2 KB file for you that contains highly encrypted priv keys. He can't access them, but you can via password/decryption after downloading the file.... unlike web wallets where if they close shop....gone are your coins.

Could even take it a step further, encrypt your privkeys and store the on the chain..... so long as you know your pass phrase, any wallet you open + your phrase == recovery of your coins.

I prefer that too. I don't know the underlinings of a web wallet or security or anything but as a consumer, it feels like i have more control over my property with a local qt wallet.

But the one you posted is a Hot node? Means the wallet has to be ON all the time?

I honestly don't know. I'm no pro nor anything I just happened to fiddle around with nodes GUI and it just.. works - no need to go into the console to type commands.

Is sharing public keys perfectly safe? They are just extended addresses, right?

Lol, actually you already share your public keys, "coins" are "sent" to a public key. What you call an address is actually the hash of the public key.

What you should never share are your private keys.....hence the naming convention public vs private.

what about masternode privkey?

Thus far i have not seen how this can be used against you except perhaps to disrupt your BN. And even that is a stretch, there is no real link between the key, your node and your coins. It can't be used to steal coins.

Excellent to know, thanks.
Will try to make small guide for banknodes then... I've seen the same tutorial on every other coin I've gambled with and they are all overly complicated. No one seems to use GUI for god knows what reason.... it is extremely straight forward.

Is that going to be setup guide for a VPS banknode?

There's nothing to it. You hold your coins and manage all your nodes from your one local encrypted wallet and you only unlock it for starting the nodes, that's it. The vps only holds your 'dummy' wallets running for each node, these don't need to be encrypted nor backed up, nothing, they just need to be running, your payments go directly to your local wallet.

Was going to do a guide for BCR with pics and all but it's basically the same thing I wrote here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1150229.msg12161099#msg12161099

I'll re-do that one and add the steps for multiple nodes.

2/3 of the way there guys almost at 15k, I still need help with masternode

Try this:

  • Click on Masternodes button
  • Switch to My Master Nodes Tab
  • Click Create
  • Alias field: yourmasternodename
  • Address field: your ip:port example: 123.456.78.9:9999
  • Click OK
  • Select your new masternode and click "Copy Address"
  • Send exactly 100,000 coins to that address
  • Again select your new masternode and click "get config"
  • A window pops up - copy that and paste it in notepad
  • replace the fields that say "REPLACEME" with whateverrandomthingyoucomeupwith
  • add a line with this: staking=0
  • save as %appdata%\transfer\transfer.conf
  • restart your wallet
  • Click on Masternodes button
  • Switch to My Master Nodes Tab
  • Select your masternode and click "start"
  • Congratulations, you got your self a master node  Cool

*NOTES*
*EDIT* wallet must be fully unlocked when you click "create"
To send exactly 100k including fee it is easier to enable coin control in your wallet then select your inputs adding up to 100k plus ~1 coin then just type 100000 and your wallet will deduct the fees and will send one single and exact 100k input.

Your transaction must have at least 10 confirms in order to be used as a collateral address.
I don't think having the port open is absolutely necessary but just to be sure, open it.
Sometimes your external ip will not be detected so it doesn't hurt to add "externalip=yourexternalip" in another line in your conf file.
Make sure your conf file extension is conf and not conf.txt
I always use a fresh new wallet for the nodes so I can stake my MN payments in another wallet just for staking.

It should work - let me know if it does.......

Useful Guide. Well done Proletariat.
Waiting for Bittrex + moon.  Cool

Yeah, I can see it's been useful, I got twice the competition for MN payments now  Cheesy

Is it too late to stake for 300TX blocks?

no, there's still around 5k 300tx blocks but you will only get paid 150tx when you stake one, the other half goes to the master nodes.

so third time is charm?
also what's the point of having 4 seednodes on the same ip?

Inspection of the wallet yielded some results that will be evident in the update, due to the start-up process for QT being a single thread, it was too busy and some events were not being handled properly, to that effect, a lot of the math has been moved to the trust engine and to raw data extraction.

I'm glad you can get your wallet running now, albeit with some stumbling.
I managed to get it started on a freshly installed Virtual Machine running Windows 10 x64. But on my desktop running Windows 8.1 x64 it's still not opening, thus my coins remain on the exchanges. For me an updated wallet-QT can't come quick enough! Smiley

Long shot but can you try with just deleting your debug.log? strange but that worked for me and i managed to replicate it apparently.

Nice catch, was going add a debug removal line, tried it, it worked but then realized ht could obscure possible errors

Yeah that originally had me postponing creating my nodes. Today I tried deleting file by file and narrowed it down to mncache, debug and lock..... I think it is either of those maybe just coincidence.... donno but my nodes are online now  Smiley

There are a premine of 8.4 million coins and only 400 000 for ICO, this dev will dump before you.

are you buying or not?

thanks for your valuable and concise input though  Roll Eyes

Hmm why someone who is masternode is not available 24h? I thought that is the whole point. Are coins will be spend to masternode input or can I still stake and be a masternode?

No you can't stake your collateral coins. If they stake, your masternode will go offline with a "cannot locate VIN for collateral" or something like that. Also, all wallets show different amount of nodes for whatever reason - maybe latency or something.

High rewards for first blocks... no sync... SCAM!

Very suspicious, all the effort for the OP and graphics but dev forget to test coin, must be on purpose.

what effort that OP can be done in 20 min

nah man.... windoze paint is a tough tool to master... that's what I liked about it though  Roll Eyes
