That's good to hear. Any information when the next 1.3w ++ blue laser will be in? Also, is the actual light wattage is 1.3w (measured via a laser meter)? I'm planning to pick a high powered laser just for fun, and was looking at wickedlasers before I saw yours.

I think I'll order new parts for blues within a few days.

Yes, the powers stated on the website is the actual powers. I don't have an LPM, but diode lasers, given a certain current, will always output the same power within a small tolerance. I guarantee that the 1300mW one will never go below 1200mW, and usually it will be more powerful.

Do you offer an option with a bigger heatsink, and a detachable collimator?

I don't offer different heatsinks atm, but I will probably offer at least copper heatsink upgrades in the future. The lens is already detachable, you can install any aftermarket lens that fits aixiz modules (m9 x .5 pitch threading). I'll probably offer upgraded lenses myself too. A 1800-2000mW blue laser should be doable with the right parts.

I can't help but notice you're using CREE drivers, right? (it's on one of those pics) IMHO, cheap cree drivers are really meant for led's and the such. Maybe try using one of those quality lasers by Moh's or DTR?  Cheesy

No, I'm not using Cree drivers, only the flashlight host. I'm using Mohrenbergs's linear driver, don't worry Smiley

Alright, I'll bite, I'm a sucker for laser gadgets.

Order placed, discount applied, bitcoins sent.  Will report back if/when the device arrives and if it hits their specs after testing.

-X

Thanks! I will pack it up and send it your way monday.  Grin

Fucking WOW, Too hardcore!, I wanted to pop a balloon and such, Not melt a hole in my wall!.
Get some lower power ones Tongue i need to replace my old green 445nm Stock one that i got from hongkong...

I will probably stock cheaper and lower powered ones soon, but I'd like to gauge interest first. Plus, as lower powered ones are being mass produced in china, the cost probably won't beat the ones you find elsewhere, while these higher powered ones are cheaper than that of f.ex. wickedlasers.com, the biggest seller by far, but still allowing for a profit to me.

This would be like the worst thing I could ever buy. Very tempting.

The blue one is like a serious weapon right? 1300mW damn.

I am all over this after a little bit. That blue one is calling my name!

Yes, it is quite frightening!  Wink

But if you use it responsibly there won't be a problem. They are only as dangerous as you make them. And what a sight it is in the night sky!

466  Economy / Service Announcements / BitLasers.com - Handheld Lasers and accessories (We ship worldwide) on: April 14, 2012, 05:59:48 PM

I'm opening up a little store selling handheld lasers and accessories for bitcoin!

These lasers are all built by me from parts, so these are pretty much unique. You won't find this powerful lasers except on a few select sites, and my prices are also usually lower. Lasers are very fun to play with. Almost all my lasers have visible beams, some of them are astonishingly bright. I also sell several lasers that are powerful enough to burn, even set bare wood on fire without any assistance.

The lasers are sold in semi-assembled states. Some assembly is required, though it is very easy, takes only a couple of minutes are require no tools or experience. Selling the lasers like this makes them legal to import, so you don't have to worry about customs.

Now, I CAN NOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH: If you want to buy a laser, you must absolutely understand the dangers involved. A split-second of the beam hitting your eye, and you might permanently damage your vision. These lasers are absolutely not toys. I sell protective glasses and I absolutely encourage that you buy and use them. These lasers are also prohibited in some countries, make sure you know the local laws.

I figure bitcoin is mostly used by geeks (no offense Smiley ), and what does a geek love more than a badass laser? So take a look: http://bitlasers.com

If you have any questions, please contact me on this forum, or at gitlem@gmail.com .

Can't tell if you're joking or not, but a laser like this would be a very, very bad gift for a five year old  Tongue
469  Economy / Goods / Re: >1000mW Blue Laser, $150 on: March 27, 2012, 07:37:20 PM
Sorry guys, something came up, this is no longer available. I'll let you guys know when my little store opens, there certainly seems to be interest.

And yes, regarding safety: I totally agree, and I can't stress how careful one has to be operating lasers. Read about safety, wear protection goggles and never lend lasers to people unfamilar with it's hazards. I will include safety information on paper with every order in my store, and I also sell protection glasses.

Yes, thanks. I was going to say that but forgot.  Tongue

Be very careful, the laser can blind instantly. NEVER, EVER point it towards other people or animals, or vehicles or airplanes.

I'm selling a brand new self-built blue laser. It has a wavelength of 445nm, and the driver supplies 1.25A which should make the laser 1000-1200mW, but I don't have a power meter. Either way, it's obviously extremely bright and powerful. If you've never seen one before it will blow your mind. The beam itself is very visible, even in lit areas, and the laser will burn through many materials and ignite paper and other tricks. It is more powerful than the (in?)famous Wicked Lasers Spyder III, and at half the price. It uses two CR123a batteries.

No warranty, sorry, but with proper care it should last many years.

Shipping is extra, about 10$ depending on where you live. The laser is currently located in Norway, Europe.

PS: Are you interested in other lasers? I'm about to open a bitcoin laser shop, selling handmade lasers in all kinds of powers and colors. Opening is in a few weeks, stay tuned.

PM if you got any questions.

Ok, I've got a taker for the job, my inbox is almost full from volunteers Smiley
473  Economy / Services / I'll give you 1 bitcoin for proofreading (Takes 10 minutes only) on: March 11, 2012, 08:28:48 PM
I'm launching a little website soon, but unfortunately I'm not a native English speaker, and I absolutely don't want spelling errors or weirdly worded sentences on there. Therefore I'll give a bitcoin to anyone nice enough to do some proofreading. It'll only take about 10 minutes.

You must obviously be as good in English as possible. I've left at least one intentional error to make sure you do proper work. Wink

PM if interested, and I'll give you the website address.
474  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: osCommerce Bitcoin Payment Module on: March 08, 2012, 09:28:45 PM
Thanks for the currency mod.

btw, check github, I've added a little pull request. I've not used github before though, so I don't know if I did it right or not.

I also created an issue about the addresses. I'll investigate more  Wink
475  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: osCommerce Bitcoin Payment Module on: March 08, 2012, 08:43:59 PM
Ok, everything seems to be working OK now, except for the problem about the wrong addresses. Do you have any idea what could be wrong? Have you tested the addon successfully yourself?

EDIT: Ok, I'll try to use github for bug reports and feature suggestions from now on.
476  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: osCommerce Bitcoin Payment Module on: March 08, 2012, 06:07:31 PM
I'm having more trouble, with addresses. My site does not provide the correct address when I check out, and it seems the "Display Price in Default Currency" addon just caused more problems..

I just cleared my orders database, made a new wallet and restarted monitor.py. Then  I made a test order. First of all, I had set the currency to USD to test out the addon, but at the checkout it said "Order total in BTC: 6 BTC" when the total was 6 USD. So that's not working properly.

I then made another order with BTC currency, and paid for it. The address I was given was "1GAeYv******".

Then I visited "order history" on my site. There, the payment address was completely different. It was "1CHkpay******". Monitor.log reports waiting for payment to the latter address, not the one I was given at checkout.

And there's more!

This is monitor.log:
Code:
2012-03-08 20:51:02,065 INFO Check for 1.211 BTC to be sent to 1QJJq*
2012-03-08 20:51:02,070 INFO Amount still needed: 1.211
2012-03-08 20:51:02,070 INFO Check for 6.00 BTC to be sent to 1QJJq*
2012-03-08 20:51:02,077 INFO Amount still needed: 6.00
2012-03-08 20:51:02,077 INFO Check for 1.211 BTC to be sent to 1CHkpa*
2012-03-08 20:51:02,084 INFO Amount still needed: 1.211
2012-03-08 20:51:02,084 INFO Check for 6.00 BTC to be sent to 1CHkpa*
2012-03-08 20:51:02,089 INFO Amount still needed: 6.00

I don't know where the 1QJJ payment request come from. But I do know that's an address of the last wallet I had, I remember the address. Somehow it's still there after clearing the orders table in the database. Are the more tables that the python script uses?

Also, as you can see, both addresses are waiting for both 1.211 BTC (which is correct), AND 6 BTC (which is the USD amount). I guess this is caused by the "Display Price in Default Currency", but I can't see how it would affect the bitcoin payment..
477  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: osCommerce Bitcoin Payment Module on: March 08, 2012, 12:06:52 PM
I just woke up today and saw that monitor.py suddenly had registered the payment I made yesterday. So I guess that's ok. However, it was only about 1 btc out of 6 btc because of the currency issue. Thanks for the addon link, that'll probably fix it.

About the encryption, I don't think it's possible to unencrypt the wallet.. If I just delete wallet.dat after unloading funds, will bitcoind just create a new one and everything will continue as normal?

I've never used github, so I don't know how to use it Smiley
478  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: osCommerce Bitcoin Payment Module on: March 07, 2012, 10:54:38 PM
So I got a couple of things to say..

I enabled encryption on my wallet, and now I can't figure out how to remove it. So I tried editing the python script to decrypt the wallet before doing stuff. But I don't have any python experience, does this look alright?

I added a var on settings.py (BTCPASS, with the password for the wallet in a string)
I added on daemon on monitor.py:

Code:
        def walletpassphrase(self):
                command = self.bitcoind_command[:]
                command.extend(['walletpassphrase',BTCPASS,str(20)])
                p = Popen(command, stdout=PIPE)
                io = p.communicate()[0]

        def walletlock(self):
                command = self.bitcoind_command[:]
                command.extend(['walletlock'])
                p = Popen(command, stdout=PIPE)
                io = p.communicate()[0]

And then I called the functions d.walletpassphrase() and d.walletlock() in the start and end of the while loop.

I don't get any errors, but it's not working either.

Problem 1: I ran two test purchases and nothing happened. The order shows as pending on osC. monitor.log says that none of the bitcoins have been paid in to the addresses, even though bitcoind getbalance says that they are indeed received. When I reach the min amount of transaction confirmations, nothing happens either.

Problem 2: The python script will randomly exit. Sometimes I just come back to the server and notice that the script is not running for no reason.

Problem 3: When I start the script, sometimes (maybe when it's waiting for payment), I get an "insufficient funds" error message.

Problem 4: I'd like to display prices as USD on my website, it's more convenient than BTC. But when I complete an order of 6 dollars when the currency is set to dollars, monitor.py expects 6 bitcoins instead.

Some of these problems are probably the fault of my messing around in the python file. If you could make a proper version with the changes I suggested, I would be very grateful.
479  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / How to remove encryption on wallet? on: March 07, 2012, 08:35:52 PM
How do I unencrypt my wallet.dat permanently (remove encryption altogether), on bitcoind via commands?
480  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: osCommerce Bitcoin Payment Module on: March 07, 2012, 05:40:27 PM
Nah, I'm using 2.3.1. But I found out the module "Coupon codes" was causing the problem, so never mind I guess.

EDIT:

About security.. What would you recommend regarding wallet encryption? I guess the python script's automatic forwarding of payments wouldn't work if the wallet is encrypted, but then again an unencrypted wallet for commercial purposes seems awfully insecure.
