Tomorrow, December 19th, will have been 4 weeks since they told me I would get my refund - I got this email this morning...

Day after I got a similar email, I was refunded. So you should expect your refund this week.
482  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Special thread concerning bitmains coupons refunds discounts. on: December 14, 2019, 10:28:59 AM
what do you consider colder temperature? I have had ambient temps drop to 40F and had no issues with my T17s so far - knock on wood.

I am in a same boat as you. S17 Pro, S17e and T17e all working at around 5C which is around 40F.

--snip--

Holy hell !!
I have one T17+ due for shipping 11-20 January. I damn hope I will not get this kind of email, especially since I can neither use PayPal nor USD wire... They would have to reimburse me in BTC and we all know by know how long that process is and what a hassle it is.
484  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain introduces the Antminer S17 Pro, Antminer S17, and the Antminer T17 on: December 13, 2019, 11:59:42 AM
I think price drop was at least a day or so ago and most coupons I see have no expiration.

Edit: no expiration as in date, if BTC market reachs a certain level some do expire as well.

Actually, there are a lot of coupons that expire in the end of January. There are some coupons that do not expire until price jumps and there are some coupons that do not expire ever (no time limit, no price limit). I am holding onto one of those and thinking if I should even use it this or next year or just save it for later time.

I did say recommended...

I have the opposite problem. They stop hashing when it becomes too cold. Say -13C oustside temp, not sure what’s it inside the data center.

You do know that recommended ambient temperature is 15 to 35C?

I understand how much time it can take and that it is a lot of work. I did not mean to ask for a free firmware. I meant to ask if there are any paid ones which I can buy so I can get it without dev fee.

Yeah, I missed that photo. Thanks for answer!

Please notify me as soon as T17e and S17e firmwares are ready.

Also, is there a firmware without dev fee?

I see that your firmware is available for S17 Pro, however I have not seen any results. Have you tested this?
Also, are there any firmware plans for S17e and T17e?

Serbia has 20% VAT and you can always count on additional ~70$ for customs clearance
491  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain to release S17E 64TH on: December 10, 2019, 01:16:48 PM
But is there a workaround? Or are you simply stuck with this one power setting?

It seems that @AlecMe found a workaround for T17e which also works for S17e. You can check his guide here.

However, in these 2 images that I posted you can see what you should change and what are the results:

This is how options look for S17e. All I had to do was go inspect elements and change "display:none" to "display:HERE" (I used caps so it can be visible on picture), you can use anything instead of "HERE".

I am yet to test all the options so I still cannot recommend meddling with this.

EDIT:
Using fan control worked without any problems.
Usable %:0-100 but lowest I tried was 30% and as soon as temps reach 78C fans would ramp up to 100% and go back down to 30% until it reaches "Critical Temperature" again. It was annoying at least, and dangers at most as 80C is limit for S17e.

Using different modes didn't do anything noticeable in miner status (will have to check Kernel Log for more data) except the starting speed, on Sleep Mode and Normal Mode it would start as high as 68TH/s and slowly goes down to 66TH/s (sometimes it takes days) and on Low Power, it starts at 65TH/s and slowly goes up to stable 66TH/s.

Changing Voltage does not do anything as it still goes back to its 1850 default.

Increasing Frequency does not do anything as it auto-tunes itself to 438/423/437 (respectively) in my case (yours may vary).

After around 4 weeks of going back and forth with Bitmain, they have finally refunded my 854$ that I was promised for order of S17e.

@philipma1957, you can change my status to: refunded.

I would like to thank this thread for existing and helping a lot. Also a shout-out to Carol which is one of the better customer support agents in Bitmain.

I asked when can I expect the refund to be done since I filled it on 22nd of November and if I can still cancel it and put it on BTC order as I saw some of you could do it but this was the answer:

Thanks for your consultation!

Yes, just confirmed the refund can be completed within this week, since your refund file was already delivered to our finance team, so that credit is not available Sad

Please let us know if you have additional questions or concerns.

Best regards,
Carol

Yeah  which was only fair as my orders that created the credit were done in btc why not let me do a btc order with the credit.

True, but you may have been an exception. They may have done this to get you off their backs, but what about people that do not have leverage...

Thanks for info and timeline, I will try to push my refund with Carol to be done as soon as possible as I am interested in ordering again. However, when I asked here directly if they accept credit for BTC orders, she just ignored the question and answered other ones. I asked here again today so I will have to wait for 2 AM to see her answer.

Also, I asked her if they plan on adding PayPal as an option again and her answer was:
Quote from: Carol (Bitmain)
As for the paypal, we are not sure when it can be available again.

So, this might be your doing Phil Wink

They are now probably scared of PayPal refund policy.

I am also interested in knowing how he accomplished it.
Also, their support work time is: 9am-6pm Beijing time (GMT+8) which means they are currently not answering tickets.
When I have a problem with them, I have to be awake from 2 AM up until 10 AM due to time zones...

Well I got a 1139 credit against my btc order for 1 s17 pro

I made a 0.05179412 btc payment to fully pay it.

So they actually went against their word and let you use credit on BTC order?

Philipma
Let me know if you need any more coupons or know anyone  Smiley))
I have three available 10% 689 314 201 looking for about $200 all three

I might need some coupons, are they expiring in January or have no expiry date?
498  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Special thread concerning bitmains coupons refunds discounts. on: December 06, 2019, 02:14:36 AM
This is what they are now saying when requesting a refund, so you may luck out or may not, but they are sending refunds based on price of BTC at time of refund being sent:

Quote
We will handle the refund with the following info, please kindly help to do the final confirm.
Please take note that it usually cost 1-2 month for the process and the USD will be transferred to BTC according to the real time exchange rate when our finance team doing the refund.

The 1-2 month wait gives them plenty of time to send at most opportune time for them.

Nothing new... But as New Year's Eve is close, I understand them taking a li'l bit longer with refunds. But I really hope they will refund everyone before end of January as that is probably when new units will be released.
499  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Special thread concerning bitmains coupons refunds discounts. on: December 05, 2019, 01:52:46 PM
LOL everyone is happy when it works out this way but they all shit the bed when they get less BTC in a refund because the price went up.

Yeah, you are correct. But I am happy that they are using this method instead of any other. Even if BTC was 15k now, I would be happy because that would mean that Bitmain is staying true to their methods, and being fair.

Some action!!

looks like I can order something and get a credit applied

if I get the s17 it is  1332-133 =1199-1139 = 60 plus 100 to ship = 160

Yeah, nice catch, it has been only a few hours since they added this. My credit still sits there even if I requested refund, but I am unsure if I can use it for any order, I tried on BTC order but credit does not appear anywhere.

Originally yes but it went to Bella and then Joanna then Carol

Since Carol told me to confirm my refund (second time ) and it would be three weeks that’s was November 22

I missed one week in my calculation but okay. So they actually did refund you as promised. That is great to hear. I am expecting my refund to be before December 22nd as I confirmed the refund (after sending btc address) same as you on November 22nd, however, I was given a different estimate:

Quote from: Carol (Bitmain)
Please take note that it usually cost 1 month for the process

That looks like they are doing refunds based on BTC price at time they send refund then. I'm surprised because BTC was at $10k in September. For the T17 I ordered, I'd be getting almost 50% BTC back. I paid 0.085 and $284 credit would be 0.039.

I was surprised about this decision from them as well, but it is actually realistic if you think about it. No one can sue them since that is how BTC should be used in my opinion. Because we are paying in BTC equivalent of USD order. They should refund us same amount of USD but in current BTC equivalent.
