And the market cap chart is a beauty too.

Forgive me for going on and on about this, but, well, to be honest, I'm excited about DigiByte! I'm excited about the prospects for early adopters! I started out working with #1 Wallet thinking that at least we've got a committed believer, but the numbers ended up showing me that there's very good reason for being a "believer"! Up 300% without being precise at all with entries. That's just phenomenal!

The owner of Digibyte's #1 Rich List Wallet is going to have a small (being ironic here) fortune someday, and they're going to deserve every penny of it! Unlike the typical scumbag instamine scammer who doesn't deserve a cent of what they rob, here, with DigiByte, we have one of the best examples of a fair cryptocurrency and one early adopter who does indeed deserve to become the very rich person he or she will be.

This is the way crypto is supposed to be!

DigiByte is what crypto is supposed to be!   Cool

^^

Those returns on investment for the #1 Wallet on the DGB Rich List mentioned in the previous post are specific to that particular investor, who, like all of us, wasn't lucky enough to pick the lows. In fact, purchases were made, in general, closer to the highs than the lows, and despite that, the position has still performed extremely well with an approximate 300% return.

And if we were to compare absolute returns from trough to current highs? What would those returns look like?

Well, if we go back to the "middle" of when the #1 Wallet was being "filled", let's say January 19, 2016, we'd have to say that DGB has appreciated by more or less 1,000% in real USD terms since then (depending on the day and current state of general panic in cryptolandia).

BTC closed that January day at $378.00 (Poloniex), which would give us a gain of around 400% to the present day (current price spike included).

As it turns out, DGB is the outperformer, by more than double the returns. So much so that you could have been an average investor who often bought near the highs (and never the lows) and still be in profits!

But we already knew that, right? I mean, it's right there in the Coin Market Cap chart, isn't it?

Don't say you weren't informed, okay?

Just finished the spreadsheet analysis for Rich List Wallet #1.

A total of 1687 BTC were used to buy the 1,800,000,000 DGB over a period of 7 months between Nov. 2015 and May 2016. The total USD amount eqivalent was $677,916.00, which would only buy ~451 BTC at today's prices. While a total return of almost 350% would have been realized if the entire investment had just been left in BTC, the 300% real USD return from the DGB investment is not bad at all considering that DigiByte is supposedly a long shot, high risk investment.  Grin

He/she's got skin in the game and it's performing almost on an equal basis to BTC! Nice going! And that was with many a purchase made at or around spike highs!!!

Average cost in BTC =  ~.00000094

Average cost in USD =  .00037662

Average cost in price adjusted current BTC terms = ~.00000025

Wtf is going on with Digibyte where is the Segwit dream? Its makes no difference and making a move in the opposite detection with a big drop right now.

Panic buy in BTC = panic sell (big sucking sound) in Alts, especially where there were the most profits. Never underestimate the stupidity of the greedy.  Cheesy

Not entirely sure what the "Last Change" column on the rich list is. Surely that one at the top (which holds 21% of all DGB ever mined) must have had some movement in the past year?

The good news is that now we have 2 block explorers and we can confirm: https://digiexplorer.info/address/DCo1dbnnwWB4cucwSduXMdTV1tDErZHNfx

That looks like one "whale" of an investor. It looks to me like it was all purchased on the open market, and not exactly at the lows. I'm doing a fairly close analysis, but you can get a general idea by matching time stamps to the historical price chart. A major investor who has made a huge investment and had no problem riding out the storm when price dropped. I would say that this is someone who plans to hold for a long, long time.

Bigger than the next 9 of the top 10 all put together, but they're no slouches either. Fun to look at. For example, #2 looks like an early miner who later did some buying, #3 looks like a pure investor who was last buying at lows last fall, hung on during the dip to 17 SAT, and has recently taken profits (the rich list is not updated to reflect the most recent sells though . . .), #4 bought his/her entire position between 51-55 SAT between June 30 and July 1 last year and had no problem riding out the slump, etc., etc. These DigiBytes are in strong hands.

Not sure if it was the same person but during the pump last year I saw someone put down 400 million at 100 sat. Removed it after a bit as they were trying to force the price down.

There is some major players on Poloniex.

Perhaps, but by the pattern of buys, I'm not too sure he/she cares too much about a few more or a few less (+-100) SAT. Looks like a very long term accumulation when things are looking good (i.e. not much done in the absolute low ranges).

Looks like wallet #5 is a major exchange, probably Poloniex.

Edit: BTW, 66 SAT is the full halfway back (50% retrace).  Grin

Edit: the DigiByte explorer just went live today and it looks like raw data is still being processed for the first time as some of these have changed ranking already - for example, what I thought might be a major exchange that was ranked #5 is now, around 8 hours later, ranked #7, #3 is now #5, #4 is now #3, etc. Just be aware that it's still "bootstrapping".

Maybe ...a Poll...would be able to tell us.....what each of these groups are interested in....exactly.

A Poll for the General Public...would confirm whether or not, my suspisions are correct ^^"

Do they "want" to make money...with DGB ...by doing what ..."Investors" do? (e.g mining)

Or do they just want things cheaper?

I dunno hehe ^^...but thats how "id" find out my answers ^^

On the simplest level, this is what I see:

Devs want people to use their coin to increase it's value, and their profits.

Miners/traders want people to use the coin to increase it's value, and their profits.

General public wants a coin that is easy to use and accepted everywhere.  If it's not as convienant to use as paypal/credit card, the general public isn't interested.

Right now crypto is only available to those willing to go through all of the barriers to entry to obtain them, and there aren't many good reasons to have them as a consumer.  Without the Silk Road making it worthwhile for people to want to figure BTC out, it never would have gained it's initial traction.    There currently isn't a single reason why the average-joe should use crypto instead of fiat for a legal purchase.  This is what holds us back.

In my opinion, dgb development needs to focus on an easy-to-use wallet with built in fiat/dgb transactions, and lightning network with the intent of targeting Point-of-Sale systems and payment processors.  If we want a healthy crypto-economy, we need commerce.   To increase commerce we must address the issues preventing businesses from accepting crypto as payment.  The most common complaints I've heard from business owners are Confirmations Times, Price Volatility and taxes.   Lighting network will solve transaction times, and enable dgb to utilize smart contracts like ethereum.   Price stability and taxes are harder to solve, but not impossible.  One solution is a 3rd Party payment processor that bears the risk of price fluctuations for a transaction fee.   The payment processor converts DGB to fiat, so the business never has to interface with crypto at all, and doesn't need to worry about the capital gains/losses of dealing with crypto on their taxes.   We need crypto that "just works."

Well said. This sums it up and is abolutely true. One possibility is to get DGB on an existing payment processor or establish one primarily for DGB.

While I believe that the shareholder's main goal is a store of value that is => his or her original purchase price, I also agree that ease of use from a payment perspective is also very important. (A chicken or the egg argument?)

Here are some links to payment processing options. The Bitcoin only sites are obviously not very likely, but imagine if DigiByte could make a breakthrough with one of them! Imagine DGB on Coinbase! Okay, almost impossible, but with the right person making the right contacts, and a little persistence and staying power, we might change that assessment to "sooner or later" (which should be the idea with everything we talk about - where there's a will, there's a way).

polo ,xmg,Temporarily Disabled!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Disabled???
Why??
No withdraws possible?? Thats strange!
For all ppl who would like to withdraw/deposit coins from Poloniex make screenshot from your balance
(as backup) and send in a support ticket.
Polo has disabled the withdrawal process for now and i am not sure what is happening as the site says that it will be delisting the coin on may 2 and bittrex says that the Wallet is in Maintenance,i purchase a substantial amount of coins but got stuck with it as i tried to withdraw the coins from Polo and it is still not broadcasted in the block chain and they have not yet replied to the support ticket and now i am sitting at a heavy loss waiting for some magic to happen.

I also got an open support ticket at polo that is 1 day and 5 hrs old, no reply. I can only hope they fix their problem with their wallet. I've tried to send some xmg to polo and from my point of view, their wallet hasen't picked up the transaction at all. Their wallet wasn't disabled when that transaction took place.

Hopefully we will get an reply from polo during the day.

Ex33s can you share what the issue is with the Bittrex wallet?

I've also been in contact with bittrex (Which replied within the hour of the initial support request and follow up's with in minuts, A+ on this! )

They have users case where user tried to send xmg from polo to bittrex but the transactions is not visible on the block explorer, We have verified that bittrex is fully in sync with https://chainz.cryptoid.info/xmg/ and https://poolinfo.systms.org wallets so this points to that the polo wallet is having issues. We can't tell for sure whats going on with out polo giving us a response on what's going on. Without their info on the situation, we can only speculate.

I would recommend every one of you that have problems with transactions to / from polo, to create a support request containing all information such as transaction id  (if there is any), amount and to / from xmg-address

What we're seeing out of Poloniex is very reminiscent of what we saw out of Cryptsy in its last weeks and months.

Good luck with the issues. All you can do is fully document them and then stay on top of them. Sounds like that's what you all are doing.

A big A+ to this community by the way! You're surely one of the main reasons why XMG is so strong.

So you guys are continuing to work?  Cheesy

That's a joke. Of course you are, and it's good to know what you're up to, even if it's just a one line "progress report". And I mean that seriously.

Another first. Very nice. May the list never end!

By the way, what plans are there for updating digiexplorer so everyone can easily see all pertinent data? Do you have any particulars on that yet?

^^

No doubt about it. We live in an instant gratification society!

Your arguments are valid and solid. The question is whether we want to try to please everybody, whether it's even worth it to try, and how much we would want to "compromise" the inherent value of the product to begin with. Not something two of us can do in a couple of hours.

We need to get more input from as many people as possible, both about the specifics of engaging gamers as well as the larger, global task of bringing DGB to the responsible masses (did you notice how the word responsible changes that phrase? Wink ).

Who are we, who do we want to attract, and then what kind of message(s) do we want to send to the world?
493  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ★★DigiByte|极特币★★[DGB]✔ DigiSync v6.14.2 - DigiSpeed - Segwit -DiguSign on: April 30, 2017, 10:53:22 AM
I mean...i DO like the idea of ...."Mining your way to Free Games"...but...

...to me, it really "needs" to be a "win win" for them.

Mining for free games is GREAT!

But paying the price... in power costs...is not so great ^^.

So...me, personally....I wouldnt offer them a "win lose" deal.

Id just focus on ...exactly what they want.

Cheaper monthly fees.....and discounts on games ^^

To "Them"...thats a "win win".

Coz now.....our offer....has no connection...what so ever......with ....paying "the price" , in power.....for mining DGB.

My thinking is a little different in that I would prefer to project implied value, and the giveaway tends to do the opposite, unless there is a "catch" that comes later . . .

The extra power cost for a high end gaming machine would average around 50 cents a day (around the same cost as their current gaming) and would most likely not be seriously considered in the majority of cases, but it would be appreciated nonetheless, and that would give real value to the DGB mined since there is indeed a cost, albeit very small on this level (insignificant when compared to the cost of the computer that they already have for other purposes).

There's no such thing as a free lunch. Giveaways bring in short termers who cash out and leave. After all, it's free, so it can't be worth holding on to, much less looking into how I could buy or mine more. From a more sociological viewpoint about individual dependence/independence, this old saying says just about everything: give a man a fish and you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.

I think we need to teach the value of DGB, and how to steadily acquire it, whether it be to teenagers or adult investors. A serious cryptocurrency needs a serious community to seriously make itself known to everyone who is serious about storing value.
494  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ★★DigiByte|极特币★★[DGB]✔ DigiSync v6.14.2 - DigiSpeed - Segwit -DiguSign on: April 30, 2017, 09:51:25 AM

While giveaways and discounts do gain short term attention, I question their effectiveness long term, especially in the absence of follow up. I've always said that the long term strategy with the gaming community should be to educate on how their *hardware* can make them money when they're not playing. That's serious promotion that's commensurate with a serious cryptocurrency. Their hardware is already paid for, and mining DGB in their downtime puts extra money back into their pockets. It's a no-brainer . . . once you've thought of it . . . but have gamers thought of it? Have we really done the "outreach" to make sure gamers are aware of the earnings potential behind mining DGB when they're NOT playing . . . even when they're sleeping?

Edit: This is why groestl is one of the 5 algos.

Your probably right. Im just a new comer to this mining thing afterall.

But i used to be a gamer. And i know alot of gamers out there too. And , from what ive ...observed...I would say that more than "half" the gamers ...out there in the world...are 15 years old at the most!

And at "that" age....who wants to learn about "hardware?". I mean...i "Totally" agree with you.....IF , they were actually "willing" to learn....that would be the "Best" thing for our younger generations to spend their time on.

But, to me, the truth is...they couldnt care less about hardware....OR making money with DBG.

WHY? because ...in "reality"....the LAST thing any child wants to do...after they get home from school....is "study".

ALSO....even "if" they were interested....they arent old enough to "verify accounts"...when it comes to actually.....cashing out..."any" form of currency/ income.

ALL ...they want ....is to buy their games "cheaper"....and to pay their monthly "World of Warcraft" fees....cheaper.  And thats it....

Truely....i cant see how millions of kids around the world....paying monthly fees ..in DGB..."Ever"...ends up ....as a fail ^^"

Oh, I completely agree with you. It's about "packaging". In this case it might be something like "buy your next game with the DGB your computer mined while you were asleep!" That's just an idea, and I'm sure we can come up with a much better slogan as a community. The only thing they have to know about their *hardware* is that they've already got it. It's their computer! (That's all I was referring to when I mentioned hardware.) The only thing they'll have to learn is how to install, set up, and use the mining software, but since they're already fairly computer savvy, and with our help and documentation, that shouldn't be a problem.

Earn the money to buy your next game while you sleep? Mine DigiByte!

With your knowledge and experience, what would you say would be the best way to "package" this kind of message and then how would you get it out there?

Id do something like....

...with the Steam "gaming" Community...

..If u purchase a game in the Steam Shop with DGB....u pay 10% less!!

....u "might" think...."then we'll just end up losing money , purchasing games for retail, and reselling for less"...

....that "may" be true, at the "beginning"....

But hell....All of a sudden DGB value rockets!...because of the "Game Purchases"....and u make all that back in NO TIME. ^^

While giveaways and discounts do gain short term attention, I question their effectiveness long term, especially in the absence of follow up. I've always said that the long term strategy with the gaming community should be to educate on how their *hardware* can make them money when they're not playing. At the end of the day the only marker of success most people pay attention to in crypto is market cap.

If the money is there, it doesn't matter if its fake volume, instamined, scammy bullshit: it's a success.

I think all these fudders just want to buy cheap DigiByte  Grin

Without a doubt, price is the third part of the triangle, and I would also argue that it is the third to really materialize.

Just look at how many examples of "successful" scammy bullshit that have come and gone: all of them first built around a core niche community (manipulated, lied to, whatever the strategy was, the community was built, whether we agree with how it was done is another debate) before the "pumpers" were ever able to come into play.

How about we build a community commensurate with DigiByte and everything it represents?
497  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ★★DigiByte|极特币★★[DGB]✔ DigiSync v6.14.2 - DigiSpeed - Segwit -DiguSign on: April 30, 2017, 08:25:21 AM
I don't get it, you guys have nothing smarter to do than to came here  and brag about your lost/bad projects ? You are all pathetic ( MYR and GRS ) trolls.

Digibyte was this first coin on Poloniex to activate Segwit. Being first on Poloniex is actually being first in crypto. Coins not on Poloniex are a waste of fucking space and time.

Look at the prices of MYR and Shadowcash after they getting removed from Poloniex. Shadowcash has crashed from $15 - $20 million to $3 million marketcap.

This is the one danger of dgb and all traders must do there best to keep dgb on Poloniex. I provide some fake volume at times when there isn't a pump taking place. Getting removed from Poloniex is a death sentence for any coin.

Check out XMG. Then check out the XMG community. I think there's more linkage there with success than "being on Poloniex".

Not exactly the same thing, but similar: look at DASH, pie in the sky security that will get hacked hard someday, but it doesn't matter because they've built a lovie dovie community that doesn't care about that.

Once you've got the coin with the required specs and Devs, it then depends on community building. That's our task at hand.

Who are we and what kind of community do we want to build? Not lovie dovie, right? Not such cool wow dogs, right? What do we want to present to the world, and also attract?

I got a PM asking about how to solo mine . . .

The abridged, super simplified, solo mining HOWTO Wink

This assumes you already have your rig built, and OS and miner installed and configured.

Solo mining, single rig

ONLY 3 THINGS TO DO:

  • set up your wallet config file
  • set up your wallet to run as a server
  • set up your miner batch file to point to your wallet

Wallet config file key items: everything, but there are less than 20 lines

Cut and paste what's posted here into your digibyte.conf file inside the same directory/folder where your wallet is found:

Change the rpcuser and rpcpassword to something of your choosing

Save it as digibyte.conf

Create a shortcut of your DigiByte wallet, right click, click properties append --server to the end of the TARGET line
(Example: C:\Users\User\Wallets\DigiByte\digibyte-qt.exe --server)
Save it and run your DigiByte Wallet as a server using that newly created shortcut.

One other thing, don't forget to modify the algo line with the algorithm you're using.
Code:
algo=scrypt
algo=sha256d
algo=groestl
algo=qubit
algo=skein

Setup your bat/script startup file by SIMPLY CHANGING 3 THINGS: your -o -u and -p switches (everything else stays the same)

-o 127.0.0.1:14022
-u the user name that you gave to rpcuser in your digibyte.conf file
-p the password that you gave to rpcpassword in your digibyte.conf file

Save and run. You're now mining solo.

Multiple Rig Setups

All the same as above, except you need to:

Change the 127.0.0.1 in the rpcallowip line in your digibyte.conf file to the IP of your server wallet machine or of your subnet, (for example to 192.168.0.* or 192.168.1.* which are the most common - you could go with 192.168.*.* when in doubt)

If necessary, create any necessary firewall exceptions on your server wallet machine and/or router.

Change the -o switch in your bat/script startup file to the IP of your server wallet machine, followed by a colon, and the rpcport number used (for example 192.168.0.30:17772 )

And you're off and running, now solo mining using various miners together.  Grin

It's easy as 1-2-3. Good luck, and good mining!

Can this be done on baikal miners?

With Baikal you could tweek a variation of this, but you'd need to set up a stratum server.

I spent some time unsuccessfully trying to set up a stripped down very basic stratum server and gave up after posting my results. Others have been continuing with the effort, but to my knowledge, still unsuccessfully. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=604476.0

Let me know if you come across anything else that ordinary folks like us can get set up at home without too many problems, or even if you get lucky and finally get Coinium up and running.

(It's not really an urgent necessity for us though - what with the several very good pools available and listed on the OP, it's more trouble than it's worth.)

No one can accuse DGB of being pump and dump either!
