481  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Coinpayments robbed on: May 16, 2018, 11:29:27 PM
Seems very unlikely that both you and your friend would be robbed in the exact same way on the exact same platform.

Did he also have 2 factor auth on? And did you share a device at any time that was used to log into your accounts?

Check the IP login history on both accounts and see if the IP that hacked you is from the same region on both, could be that there is an exploit affecting certain categories of users.

483  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Hackers Stole $50 Million in Cryptocurrency Using 'Poison' Google Ads on: May 16, 2018, 11:21:43 PM
Google should really have a manual verification process for untrusted ad partners, ensuring that they are not mimicking similar services, or sites that cater for sensitive information. To some degree, I think Google is responsible for the losses incurred by these users. To be honest though, you need to be pretty stupid to be fooled by the old domain switcheroo attack. e.g. www.blockchain.info.xyz could be used instead of the actual domain. Most browsers even highly the domain extension and flag up potentially malicious sites. So these people must be either 1. Woefully ignorant, 2. Not adequately secured, or 3. Both.

It's been so long and yet they still haven't learned. Sorry for necro bump but this really F***ing annoys me.
484  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Criteria of a good gambler on: May 16, 2018, 11:19:22 PM
I think one of the major criteria that you have missed in OP, is that a good gambler knows how to correctly balance risk and reward, and has a correct understanding of the true odds involved, without having their perception warped by media or promotional content.

For example, a good gambler knows that although the lottery has a $100m grand prize, there is a much less than 100M/1 chance of him winning by buying a dollar lottery ticket. Whereas a good gambler would rather bet on the $1m grand prize lottery that has a 1.5M/1, as statistically his equity is higher.

As for being warped by media, most new gamblers are warped as to the frequency of winning based on what they see on TV, when reality this neglects the millions of people that didn't win.

487  Economy / Economics / Re: Will the bitcoin be outdated by another currency? on: April 03, 2018, 04:04:26 PM
Bitcoin is already being outdated by other cryptocurrencies, even Ethereum was a generational improvement on Bitcoin. However, as we all know, the best isn't always the most successful, and bitcoin is clearly the most successful. However, modern cryptos such as ADA and EOS could possibly overthrow bitcoin if they manage to gain significant traction and partnerships, this is because they have much more potential outside of just being a payment system.

Glad I was eligible for payout, thanks for running such a smooth campaign, and managing the spreadsheet promptly.

Good luck with your future endeavors, I hope to work with you again soon  Wink
489  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: My bounty experience! on: April 02, 2018, 11:17:20 AM
The bounty campaigns are excellent methods to get tokens without investing anything and then exchange them in the exchanges and convert them into money to spend. But you have to select valuable projects and commit yourself, because with one or two bounty campaigns you can not earn big numbers, and it also takes luck to find bounty that pay well
i guess it's not just luck, we should be able to analyze whether ico is good or not. from there make your bigger lucky. besides that after listing market we should be able to analyze the future of that coin, so that make our income is more and more

Luck is a small part of success for bounty hunters, the major factors are dedication, making sure your time is spent most effectively, and most importantly that you only spend that time on the bounties that both deserve your effort, and are willing to pay generously for it. Also bare in mind that if an ICO is undervalued, the bounty reward might multiple once it hits the exchanges, so this should be part of your consideration.
490  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: My bounty experience! on: April 02, 2018, 11:15:58 AM
@OP, great post, definitely a positive message to all aspiring bounty participants. I would recommend that people stick to their schedule, apply to the highest potential bounties, and stick it through to the end (unless something suggests you should exit early, e.g. failure). There is definitely reasonable money to be earned if you put the work in.
491  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: selling bitcoin is a stupid decision ? on: April 02, 2018, 11:13:24 AM
Selling bitcoin is only a stupid decision if you sell out at a loss, and intend to make that loss permanent. Obviously if you need the cash, and can't afford to have it tied up in bitcoin then there really isn't any alternative unless you stupidly take out a loan. Sometimes if you sell at the start of a dip, and then buy back in at the bottom of a dip, you can be in a better position than when you started. So it really depends on circumstances.
492  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why is BTC dropping every week? on: April 02, 2018, 11:10:18 AM
It's very difficult to buy in the dips where nearly every week is a deeper dip than the previous once, in a bearish market you should probably avoid that strategy. If you are holding for the short term, don't expect any recovery within the next 2-3 months. Bitcoin likely won't see a big bull run until late 2018 at the very earliest. I personally think it wont be until some time next year or beyond.
493  Economy / Exchanges / Re: MtGox2 - EXCHANGES SELL BITCOIN HE NOT REALLY HAVE !!! on: April 01, 2018, 11:53:36 AM
It's unlikely another mtgox scenario will happen any time soon, and some people use exchanges for day trading as their primary source of income. Of course there is a risk of some bad egg screwing up, or getting hacked, but the major exchanges around now don't seem to be a bad bunch, e.g. Poloniex, Binance and Bittrex all seem to be handling it well. It's fine to keep your money in an exchange, just don't keep your life savings in one, only what you need to get your jobs done.
494  Economy / Speculation / Re: can anyone here could be able to stop the bitcoin fall down of market price? on: April 01, 2018, 11:51:40 AM
Most of the people here actually contribute to the price falling, you get completely moronic newbie or Jr members making statements like bitcoin is dead, or is bitcoin dead this time, all of these negatives statements add to the growing negative press associated with bitcoin, and leads to the weak hands selling out at below market price, causing a gradual decrease in the average sale price. If you want bitcoin to go back up, neg these idiots who do this, and keep transacting in bitcoin, support the community and hold strong.
495  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin to 3000$? on: April 01, 2018, 11:49:35 AM
Please stop making posts asking if this is the end, why do you even say something so completely stupid?

Bitcoin started 2017 at around $1,000, and now it is getting close to $5,000 people are asking if this is the end? So something that has increased by over 500% value in a year is close to the end? Jesus, Amazon, Apple, Samsung, Microsoft etc must be close to bankrupt by now.
496  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is a tax on: April 01, 2018, 11:45:45 AM
"Bitcoin is a tax on stupidity", the fact that even wrote such a ridiculous sentence clearly demonstrates that you are the stupid one.

Bitcoin isn't a tax at all, it isn't collected by the government to pay for public services, it isn't forcibly charged to country residents. Bitcoin includes a mining fee yes, but that is a fee rather than a tax, and it is optional technically, but due to supply and demand, you better pay that fee if you want your transaction confirmed quickly.
497  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will it happen again? on: March 31, 2018, 08:24:27 PM
Well, if you look at the chart in the last 6 weeks there was an almost exact same pattern, bitcoin dropped down to about $6,000 and then doubled to $12,000 over a couple of weeks. There is definitely a recurring pattern to bitcoins price changes, but I don't think these patterns drive future patterns.
498  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ripple will Die on: March 31, 2018, 08:21:31 PM
I think you're right, but I don't think it will happen quickly. Ripple has crashed more than any other top 10 coin as far as I'm aware, I remember buying a few hundred XRP at almost $3.00 a few months ago, now they've lost almost 80% of their value and are around $0.60. Even Ethereum hasn't collapsed by 80%, and that's taking a severe beating. XRP will not recover faster than others, if you're holding, I suggest you get out now.
499  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: My BIGGEST cryptocurrency mistake on: March 31, 2018, 08:17:44 PM
My biggest mistake was not investing in NEO and ADA back when they were in the ICO stage. I guess I actually can't consider it a mistake as I didn't know about them, but I did know about ICOs in general, my mistake was not taking the time to delve a little deeper and actually commit to an investment Sad
500  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Passive income from Bitcoin? on: March 31, 2018, 08:12:26 PM
Cryptocurrencies are probably one of the easiest ways to earn a passive income, nearly everything related to them is passive, e.g. you can run a node, set up a few mining rigs, invest in a crypto that pays dividends or autogenerates profit (e.g. NEO) or even just invest in one of the many ICOs.
