You are not the first one and not the last one being scammed one way or another. Scammers are everywhere, scam project, scam bounty managers, literally everywhere. So be more informed and such things will be more difficult to happen. Check the managers if they are trustworthy, check the project, team, links in LinkedIn, to be sure they are real, roadmap, and so on...

I see you are active in the Russian Local board, after checking some random posts I think you have potential to be valuable user in the future. You have put some effort to collect all the information in your post regarding the bounties. Seems like you are not breaking any rules. Checked for copy-pasting and on random posts, did't find any issues. I'm in a good mood today so you get 1 sMerit. Congrats. You do not meet the requirements. Read the RULES, they are so easy and simple.

Most of your posts are in Russian, I'll try to get someone to review them and I'll let you know the result.

I actually think his posts got deleted with the recent post recount made by theymos when he deleted thousands of posts and threads and a lot of people were complaining about having less posts or as you said he deleted them himself but it wouldn't really make much sense.
Well I was not aware of this, so I guess maybe this is case here, because I see posts back from 2014 so maybe you are right. I've seen before newbies with 100 merit, deleting the history to remove any evidence of possible trading. Of course when you see an account registered back then with no activity and full merit then it is suspicious. It's easy to spot a purchased account. If you look at the post history and you see perfect English and quite some knowledge and then a pause for 1 -2 years and suddenly, the guy started posting only in the Russian local section for example, asking how to find his profile link or just a newbie questions, you know, then it is obvious that this account doesn't belong the the original owner anymore.

I'm doing the same as you do, but I think reporting those accounts is not the most efficient way, sure we have to list them for future consideration. I think we shall also report the Projects using their service. I gave this example some time ago: Reporting the ICO bumper accounts is not so efficient, since the procedure of creating new accounts is so easy and many bots are doing it already. There where I come from we have a saying - To deal with the beast you have to chop his head off. So to deal with all those accounts we have to go a little bit higher, we have to deal with the purchaser of the service. If there are more strict rules for those scammers (for me using such service means that you are doing some monkey business) . So instead of wasting time and energy let me know what to do to be more efficient? I can probably list many more ANNs and couple of hundred accounts doing this. What will be the consequences then? For me this is the bigger problem. I think we have to list those projects using this service together with ICO bumpers so both can get what they deserve /or what the admin will decide to do with them/ You are already wasting time in chasing them so just list everything.

Nothing unusual. Check his registration date, seems that all the posts were deleted and that's why the activity went 0 but the merits are there. I guess it's a tradet account and the buyer is covering tracks by deleting old posts of the previous owner.
I don't think this is the case, actually. I don't see a single "received merit" when I check under their history. It seems that it was just a "bug" during the initial distribution of merit. When the system was released there were certain members that had their merit counts incorrect. It's possible that they just received an incorrect amount of merit to begin with. Deleting posts that have been merited does not cover up your tracks, it just keeps the merit stats and replaces it with "Deleted post" +1 or something. Do you have any proof this person has received a single merit? Let me be more clear, I wrote my comment while I was waiting someone to pick me up, coz I forgot my keys, then he came and had no time for detailed explanation. So, the account was a full member with all the activity and had the default amount of merit (100) for his rank. Then the owner decide to delete all his posts and start all over. When your posts are deleted, you are loosing the activity generated by them. The merit on the other hand, is something you cannot lose. So the default amount of 100 will remain even without any activity. There is no merit history, because he got the default merit back on 25 of January, when the system was introduced and he was a Full Member that time. I hope now it's more clear

Today i see a Posting from this Account https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=258817Can any one me explain this? Newbie +10 Post +10 Activity and +100 Merit What is wrong with the System? I can not see this guy merit history and for his 10 Postings he get no Merit reward from other Users Is the Merit System buggy or have newbie with old register age will have merits, that will be very unfair for the newcomers Newbie/Jr. Member/Member. So this User can rank up very fast with low quality post only with activity. I'm confused! I think this is not this what theymos want... Nothing unusual. Check his registration date, seems that all the posts were deleted and that's why the activity went 0 but the merits are there. I guess it's a traded account and the buyer is covering tracks by deleting old posts of the previous owner.

Hi. I don't have 2 Merit on my posts but
Both you guys are not qualified for joining my service. Just reading the subject of the thread should be enough to understand what type of service I provide: One (1) Merit point to Rank-up Service. This means that if you need 1 point to RANK UP than you can join. I also wrote in the description that : Do you need 1 Merit point to rank up? Yes? Then this service is for you. ~snip~ Here I will provide a simple service with simple rules to those who fulfill the following requirements : - Are missing only 1 merit point to rank up
- Have at least two already merited posts
~snip~ * I will review all your merited posts, and I will check some other posts on random bases. If I find that you are breaking any rule you gonna end up listed on my List of Rule-Breakers.Anyone who doesn't meet the requirements and try to apply for this service will be considered as a "merit beggar".Read the rules before you apply. How to apply:[/list] Just let me know that you read the rules, simple as that. ~snip~

I've been away today and I am surprised to see the thread so active. No need to answer to every each of you but I'll try to summarize what I think after reading all those comments. First thank you guys for the support. For those who think that only two guys manage to rank up, I will disappoint you. While looking for merit abusers found at least two more guys already ranked up to full members, unfortunately I don't remember those names so I have no proof, just my word. There are many new Members, tho. I guess you will say that 10 merit is not so big obstacle, well it is for most of the newbies, trust me. When you see a newbie or Jr.Member with 0 Merit you won't pay so much attention to his comments as if he had 1 Merit. I've already seen this and I'm trying to change it. Getting your first merit is not easy, especially if you are posting in sections like Mining and Pools. Well, I see that the situation there is a bit better now, you see some merited posts from time to time. Some of you are asking for tips or how I did it. I was a bit surprised when I joined here. It took me quite some time only to get oriented in the forum structure. Asking for help, got couple of posts deleted as spam and then I started reading. I learns about the bounties /did't knew when I joined/ and got involved in a scam project. Learned my lesson and moved on. Been reading a lot only to get to know the system in the forum. Then you meet some hero/legendary commenting around and it start to be more interesting. As you go deeper also in the history and you find satoshi, Hal Finney, Gavin and many other founders /reading a lot/, and you see the forum is just one big family, DTs (DT1 and DT2) gather in camps and fighting in between, some accusing others of being scammers, pedophiles, being on pills, some extortion attempts or some sort of this, everyone keeping their interests, it is really colorful here / especially reading nullius posts, damn he has sense of humor and quite some knowledge/. Then you see the other side, the quite shitposters gathering activity in the dark corners of the forum /the off-topic and the bounties, quoting every week report just to provide better life for their families, sir/. They are just silent participants in the ICO generator machine spitting new and new useless coins and tokens /well,some can be useful for sure but this is very rare/ unaware of the merit system, they pop-up from time to time in the Meta with their broken English(*) to ask why they are still Jr after they reach the activity, and finally how the merit system broke their life. Then you start understanding how everything is working here, you start find things which you think are not right, missing or just not logical. You ask why this has to be like this, and how to make things better, is there any way for me to help to improve this ecosystem here? How can I help with what I do? Then you reach the point of being a member in the real meaning, a member of this crazy family. The merit will come eventually. This is what I have been trough for those : Total time logged in: 17 days, 15 hours and 12 minutes. And I don't regret a single second that I spent with you guys. Ups,I’m afraid I got carried away! (*) Apologies for my English tho, I'm just an NNES.

I sent you 10 merits so that you can give away 5 more to users deserving.
Do you know that you just made me a Full Member? Thank you for this! All those sMerit I'll put to good use I appreciate the sentiment and the intention I believe you have behind offering this service. I believe you've submitted your posts in my merit thread before and so I can understand someone doing something similar. If I had more merit, and I was able to see a longer track record oh users merited I would toss you a couple to allow you to continue your service. I would make sure to read their previous post history if you are willing to be the person deciding whether or not they enter that threshold for ranking up. This would ensure you are not being taken advantage of in various ways by spammers and malevolent users.
Thank you for the kind words, I did use your service, yes. No worries about the sMerit. I would be glad to see more people like hugeblack ranking up, he really deserved it. I am happy for myself that I made it trough when everyone was saying that it was impossible, and now I can wear my own avatar I'll keep this service open as long as I can, now I know the feeling, and will be very happy to make other people feel it too.

OP can post them here - ICO SPAMMERS EXPOSED --> NEW SELF-MODERATED THREADAll the bumpers/those who were running this bumping service did get negative ratings. I am sure they got banned as well - because there is still no method to check whether a member is banned or not by regular members, mods can do that for us. Thanks for this, I was asking what to do with the ANN threads, because this is also an issue. Regarding the ban, you can actually check yourself, thanks to Vod. Hello folks,
I there a way to check if someone is banned? I'm reporting a some ICO pumpers but I don't know if they are already banned. Don't want to waste time on already reported accounts. TY.
BPIP parses the modlog and keeps track on who has been autobanned and nuked, as well as how many threads/replies have been deleted. example: http://dev.martinlawrence.ca/bpip/profile.aspx?p=Ido_LiberdyI just have the most recent info in there, but a friend is sending me some historical data I hope to populate this week.

Difficult to choose the best one but lest say is this one I love most, it was created before the Merit system. It's still under construction but a lot of useful info there.Proud of my Activity calculator: Don't Panic: The Official Hitchhiker's Guide to the BTCitcointalk Galaxy Here you will find everything you need to know regarding the forum structure, ranking system and trust. Please take your time to read through this post and check the bottom section for additional resources. If you still have questions, try using the SEARCH OPTION first,/ if you don't know how to use the search follow this link/ and if you still can't find what you are looking for ask here. Let's keep the forum clean and tidy. My rules on this thread: Rule 1 > NO SPAM and NO SCAM, I will report you and there will be consequences! Rule 2 > Reading the Extra info links is a MUST!
Let us begin with the ranking system in Bitcontalk. This is an overview of what you need to achieve in order to rank up as a member. ________________ | _____________________ | ________________ | RANK | Activity | Merit | Brand new | 0 | 0 | Newbie | 1 | 0 | Jr Member | 30 | 0 | Member | 60 | 10 | Full Member | 120 | 100 | Sr. Member | 240 | 250 | Hero Member | 480 | 500 | Legendary - Random in the range | 775-1030 | 1000 |
Easy calculating your Activity based on your registration day. Regarding the Activity points system >Explanation: - After your registration you have 14 days cycles in which you can gain up to 14 Activity points.
- Every post generates you 1 Activity point but in 14 days time span you can gain up to 14 Activity points even if you have more than 14 posts.
- On the day 15 the cycle restarts and you can again collect your 14 points.
Interesting thing is if you have posts over the limit from the previous cycle, with the first comment in the new cycle you get the Activity points from the old posts you had in the previous cycle. Example: I had 28 Activity points and 33 comments before the end of the cycle, with my first post in the new cycle my Activity points went up to 34, the same amount as my posts. Extra info here > Unofficial list of (official) Bitcointalk.org rules, guidelines, FAQForum ranks/positions/badges (What do those shiny coins under my name mean? Regarding the Merit points system >From 25.01.18 you have to collect Merit point together with the activity points in order to Rank-up. This was done to increase the quality of the posts and to prevent the spam. Here is the new requirements for ranking up according to the forum Administrator- theymos. This is the copy from the Merit & new rank requirements topic, links you will find in extra info section "In addition to activity, everyone now has a merit score, and you need both a certain activity level and a certain merit score in order to reach higher member ranks." For reference see the table above. I hope you will find your answers in the Q/A section. I'll try to list as many as possible. Q/A Section: Q: Well, how to collect Merit points? A: "You get merit points when someone sends you some for one of your posts. Additionally, when someone sends you merit points, half of those points you get as sMerti (sendable Merit) and they can be sent by you to other people." Q: Who is giving these points? A: There will be certain people called "merit sources" which will give points to quality posts. They are 57 at the moment I wrote the , see Merit Statistics link below. In addition according your rank and the merit points you have received you can also give to posts you like, so we can say that everyone can give sMerit. Q: OK but c'mon, how to get Merit points on my posts? A: There is no recipe for collecting merit but here are some guidelines. The most important is to try to contribute in some way to the forum. Stay away from breaking the forum rules, learn proper English in order to communicate effectively with the community, be helpful and creative, and the last advice is: don't push it too hard, you just gonna stuck on your current rank. Improving yourself will improve your rank too, I'm sure. Q: How many Merit points I have ? A: Follow the link Check your Merit, there you can check your points and there will be listed also the points you have received and for which post and the points you have given. Q: I want to know more about the Merit Points System A: You have to follow the Merit & new rank requirements link below, it's a long discusion there. Extra info > Merit & new rank requirementsCheck your merit Merit Statistics Regarding the Trust system >Here is how theymos explained the system: Trust: 1: -0 / +12(3) The first number is the user's trust score calculated based on how consistently they've received positive feedback. Probably no one will get a score above 0 until the system has been around for at least a month. The second number is the number of reported scams. The third number increases with the number of positive reports, as does the fourth number in parenthesis, though the fourth number is more resistant to abuse. This text changes color depending on the score. Users with a negative score (attainable through scamming) get a red warning attached to their posts.
These scores are taken from your trust network. They are not global scores. You can edit your trust network here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=trust If your trust depth is set to 2 (the default), you will trust feedback by people you trust, people they trust, and people they trust. I might change the default in the future; we'll see how this works. Your trust list is public.
On feedback pages, you can leave trade feedback. There are no rules for this, but here are some guidelines: - List all of the trades that you do with people (or at least the major ones). This is not like #bitcoin-otc where you give people just one score. - Do not rate people based on the quality of their posts. - Older ratings count for more, so don't delete old ratings if you can avoid it. - "Risked BTC" is how much money you could have lost if the person you're rating had turned out to be a scammer. Or, if they are a scammer, it's how much you lost. Use the BTC value at the time of reporting. - It's OK to post a rating about the person in general, not tied to a specific trade. - If you want to make a rating stronger, increase "Risked BTC". 50 extra risked BTC is equivalent to an additional rating.
If your trust list is totally empty, you trust "DefaultTrust", which includes some trustworthy people that I'll select. But if you add anyone to your trust list, even if they don't trust anyone, DefaultTrust will no longer be considered part of your trust list.Note: Information is taken from the Trust rules post. move to trashcan + ban thread starter + ban bumpers Hang 'em high! I would love to see it done, but in the mean time I have to know what to do. Now I list the bumpers in Joel_Jantsen's thread in hope to get them banned. I will start listing also the Projects using this service for further consideration. This can also be a bit tricky, because if you want to ruin someone's else project then hiring a squad of bumpers can easily take down your competitors or the ones you don't like.
|
|
|
I don't know if it sounds practical but if I had to come with a rule to stop this - I would simply want those threads moved to trashcan with a warning to not use ICOBumping services. However,an ICO can create a new thread but as soon as thread bumping is reported, they will be instantly moved to trashcan.
I do agree but since there are no defined rules for this I guess we have to make new ones or just let them be like now.

There is no confirmation email upon registration, so you can use whatever address you want. This should be fixed first I think.
I don't quite remember when I registered mine a few years ago, but if this is true, yes I agree it should be fixed first by requiring email confirmation and I propose these suggestions below, if not yet implemented, - when changing email address, it should also require confirmation on old email address - if the current address becomes unavailable, changing it requires manual intervention (checking) by mods or theymos - for reason of lost access (hacked email), request manual email change by providing signed message with staked btc address Yeah, I was also surprised to find out this. You can actually register with anyone's email address for example Bil Gates. You only need to remember the password and there you go. If Bill Gates wants to register with his emai, he can't do that. It's a bit like reserving domains to sell them later to whoever needs them. I don't know what is the reason not to have an confirmation email upon registration.
