501  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Ethereum: Welcome to the Beginning on: January 27, 2014, 01:06:50 PM
Will this coin be cpu or gpu mined?
Should be both.

From what I understand gpu mining is not going to give you that much of an advantage over cpu.

So when will mining be possible? After feb 1st or after the fundraiser limit has been reached after 2 months?

I don't like this, they remind me to HSBC not allowing people to withdraw: "The fiduciary members will be vested over a 12 month period and cannot divest more than ⅓ of their position per year thereafter"

Google what "fiduciary member" is and youll see that you are not one and the restrictions dont apply to you. Jesus Christ people. I think some need to work on your reading comprehension. As I mentioned before im still looking at the merits of this project but the disninfo in this thread is staggering.

Antonopoulos seems to be pushing ethereum. Although the project's stated goals is what he has been advocating for a while and in that sense this is not a surprise, I wonder what his opinions on the ipo structure is.

More bullshit from you.  Now you are trying to fear monger people into thinking that all  government is bad and we should never obey the law because...who the fuk knows why?  Im not a big fan of government, but am I a fan of full disclosure and filing proper paperwork and bonds to insure that people don't get ripped off?  Hell yes.  Anyone who keeps repeating that government is bad bad bad because they dont want to file the correct paperwork and disclosures is obviously hiding something.  You are a cockroach, I read some of your previous posts and you obviously have an interest in ethereum being successful so you are willing to tell people that they are government lovers if they want transparency.  Frack you.

It costs $800,000 in legal costs and filing fees to do an IPO. This money is much better used to fund development than to feed parasites.

Your content, vocabulary, and grammar all reveal an incredible lack of class.

So you are saying your company refuses to comply with rules and regulations to save money for development? LMAO you just made me laugh in public.  A venture capitalist could fund twenty coins like ethereum with 36 million and have money left over for a Mercedes for every employee.  Why don't you just raise 36.8 million who the fuk would notice anyways?  Whats another 800,000 among strangers, at least people would have peace of mind and know what they are getting into.  You are not only rude and crass but you are ignorant as well.

A rule of thumb, any company that refuses to comply with regulations to save money or save in fees.  If it is that easy to deceive the government, how much easier to steal your money?  Companies that skirt laws from inception will never last long.

Rule number two:  Never fuckin invest a dime into a company when the principle owners dont have one cent invested.

Rule number three:  Trust but ALWAYS verify

1: This is the crpto market you dumbass, firm regulations are not established
2: please post your proof that princple owners have not invested "one cent"
3: you are neither trusting, or awaiting the inevitable verification that will drop on the ipo.

9/10 on your fud skills based merely on the fact that you have persistance in your 3 hour campaign of tomfoolery

I only heard about this project today, but your posts are laughable. Healthy skepticism is one thing and to be encouraged, but you seem to be coming at this with an agenda
504  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Ethereum: Welcome to the Beginning on: January 25, 2014, 06:58:30 PM
According to US Law, you can't just offer a crowdfunding of this type without filing the proper legal paperwork.  This is a free market, but there are rules in place to prevent companies from defrauding their investors. Where is all the paperwork that is required?  This technically could be construed as an entirely illegal enterprise and all the funds seized.

(1) They're in Canada. (2) They're not selling equity.

Canada, but asking for US investors.  Also, I'm sure there are rules that apply for this level of funding that is on a whole different level.  I'm pretty sure they have to file with the SEC and provide ten times more documentation for the dollar amounts they are requesting.  Also, Canada has very restrictive crowdfunding laws to prevent this type of investment where transparency is almost non-existent,

Right, because the sec has oversight authority over US citizens investing abroad Grin

Who is to say they are incorporated in Canada? If they are smart they went through another jurisdiction.

I still havent made up my mind on this project but your shameless shilling is annoying
505  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SBC] From Death Comes Life – The Rebirth of StableCoin - URGENT UPDATE on: January 20, 2014, 07:14:26 PM
Development on the mixing service continues. The beta signup post was not meant to imply that it is near completion, but rather to preemptively collect a list of interested individuals, as well as to spark interest among new people in the coin itself.

I pop on here and the official forum from time to time, but that is just to check up and make sure the network is running properly. If you folks want daily updates, there isn't much for me to say. I'm just living my life and working on this when I have the spare time. It's really not that interesting. My time is limited, so I don't have the availability to do daily Q&A sessions on here and respond to some of the long messages that I receive.

There's been some talk of others wanting to implement their own mixing service. If you think you can beat me to the punch, and that your finished product is of sufficient quality, feel free to go for it. I won't take offense, and your code will be implemented into the main branch. I would share what I have completed so far, but that would not be wise, as it could get into the hands of a competitor coin. Our development paths will have to remain separate.

1:glad to hear your alive

2:nobody expects daily updates, only the occasional "hey guys, things are in progress" updates

3 Dont dismiss the "long" messages you receive, some are substantive. They offer insight/solutions as to what is going on.

4: Talk of alternative mixing service has been under the assumption you went away. If you are not, dont worry, we will stand by and let you do your work.

5: work with "touma" from stable coin forum. he had a good proposal which he posted. You have to let the community know whats up every once in a while, even if things are going slow, doesnt matter

6: We all have lives to live, but you're the one which put up an idea. The responsibility to advocate  it is yours by default.

7: glad to hear you're alive

506  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SBC] From Death Comes Life – The Rebirth of StableCoin - URGENT UPDATE on: January 19, 2014, 11:23:51 PM
Nice amount of activity in the forums today  Grin
If only artos had this much activity
SBC down to $0.046.

The silence over progress with mixing service and future plans for the coin is driving the early investors away.  I's almost as though artos is sand-bagging everyone.  Is he buying up all those cheap coins and then when he gets a ton, suddenly announce the mixing service?

I am not the only one, but I have been one of the most constant voices advocating COMMUNICATIONS.  A product is dead without good PR, advertising and communication.  This has begun to look like a running practical joke.  Artos drops by and dribbles a weekly mention of something and all of his fans cheer and gush.  Then he disappears again leaving people still waiting and still in the dark.

It's one of the most astonishing performances I have ever seen.

Well, I'll hold my (virtually worthless month's mining activity in) SBC's just in case something ever does manifest itself

Really bizarre.

This pretty much echoes my feelings 100%

Wow. No patience whatsoever. Spoiler alert!!! In the real world, things take time and real work!

I've been a promoter since day 1 dude.  ArtOS has the right to dissapear without announcing things once, but two times is a bit odd and does shake my confidence slightly.  Don't pretend it's a positive thing:  It's not.

As a programmer myself I know for a fact one can get lost in the code while working hard.  That's not an excuse to stop all PR entirely, however, for anything over 3 days.  We're way beyond that.  It's been what, a week?  Two?  It's getting scarily similar to what happened before, and that killed this coin.

It's at the point now where I have seriously considered trying to hard fork his work, and implement this feature myself.  I AM capable, and at least I'd talk to the community.  That said, it feels somewhat...  asshole-ish to fork someones coin by force.

Yeah that would kill the coin for sure, now we see your motives.
A battle over ownership might kill the coin, but where's it headed now?  What he's talking about is a rescue attempt.  This coin has great potential, but if it's most salient feature, anonymity is offered by another coin with equal security before SBC publicly announces an up and working mixing service, then it's value is diminished and it might even die.

I don't believe we're there yet, but time is ticking.

Public perception, public perception, public perception.  I can't say that enough.  This coin made a false start once before, so it's rebirth was pretty shaky to begin with.

well said

Best way to reach Artos, message him here. He'll see it as soon as he comes online.
and will not respond

He's repetatedly ignored my messages, despite offering to join the dev team in a purely PR and pull-request related way.

Its an interesting strategy Artos has adopted. Unorthodox to say the least. The nuclear option you posted prior is always an option, although we are still some time away from that. I hope he knows what he is doing but another week without any communication will cause the community to re evaluate the situation. I sincerely hope it doesn't get to that stage.

For those that have not seen it, Andreas gives a compelling talk on the truly historic implications that crypto currencies will have. Also, some time is spent on the next big development on the crypto world....greater anonymity on top of the protocol, and bitcoin competitors.

Must watch for the uninitiated
509  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: New alt coins good or bad? on: January 19, 2014, 09:47:48 AM
Hi all my first post here. Smiley

What opinions do you have on the amount of new coins appearing?

Is it a good thing?

More competition and dev staff having to keep 'on the ball' or a bad thing in that it makes the whole alt coin arena seem somewhat a joke and rife with scams? (I belive it may well kill the alt coin market)

Comments??

Cheers all.. Smiley

New altcoins are not in direct competition with BTC. They are compliment to it. New innovations can be developed and tested in both the technical sense and marketplace. Some will rise, most will fall. What we are experiencing is akin to what was happening during the industrial revolution, and the beginning of the internet. Where an firm monopoly has yet to be cemented,  and the barriers to entry are essentially nil.  We live in exciting times and are lucky to be witnessing a fundamental shakeup of the economy.

Well, this is a bit of an irritant. I have several posts in the non-newbie area of the site that I'd like to post to, but looks like I'm going to have to wait a long time based on these other posts. I'll try again in the morning.  Undecided

This post is relevant for me
