501  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Europa League/Champions League Lounge on: April 15, 2016, 09:06:27 AM
The Liverpool - Dortmund game was breathtaking. After the bad start I thought Liverpool were finished but I was so wrong in the end. I hope Klopp wins the Europa League trophy this year they really deserve it.
502  Other / Off-topic / Re: What is your plan to get rich with Bitcoin? on: April 15, 2016, 08:15:22 AM
I think I am past the point of becoming rich with Bitcoin. It's too late to make any big bucks now only the early adopters managed to acquire big fortunes by selling cheap coins for thousands. Now I am just happy to be using novel digital money that can change the way we transact in the future.
503  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Buy bitcoin in Germany on: April 15, 2016, 08:07:12 AM
You could find a Bitcoin seller in Germany to buy coins directly from via Localbitcoins and thus avoid using a middle man like an exchange. If you can't find anyone I recommend checking out the Bitstamp website. They are based in Europe so they are offering services to German customers as well.
504  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: I really want help for choose a USB bitcoin miner on: April 15, 2016, 07:58:41 AM
With a USB Bitcoin miner you won't profit but you could run it just for the sport if it makes you happy to be a miner. Another option is to buy some hashrate at a cloud mining company which will mine for you and you could estimate the rough profit you would make with them. But if you have set your heart on a USB miner whatever you get it will be okay.
505  Other / Politics & Society / Re: How Bitcoin will smash Donald Trump's Mexican remittance wall on: April 14, 2016, 09:54:28 PM
...

I see two problems holding back immigrants sending money to Mexico with BTC.

1)  They have to buy the BTC here in the USA.  Many do not have bank accounts, maybe most do not have computers (etc.).  Availability of Bitcoin looks to be a problem.

2)  As mentioned above, how do the Mexican recipients change their BTC to pesos?

The first point is actually very easy. They get paid usually cash in hand if they work in construction, restaurants etc. and then they can find a seller on Localbitcoins which is very popular in the USA and then get a Bitcoin wallet on their cellphone to receive the coins. Or maybe ask an American friend to sell them some via an exchange  there are a lot of ways to acquire coins. But now for point 2 it's a tricky situation. The power of Bitcoin is in its community. If there are enough Mexican Bitcoin users willing to trade the remittances could be exchanged back to pesos. If not then they must install more ATMs or launch a local exchange that will facilitate this.
506  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Storing of Bitcoins is against Bitcoin. on: April 14, 2016, 09:43:23 PM
Well Bitcoin is seen as a storage of value so storing Bitcoins for long periods of time would be a normal thing right? Plus most businesses accept multiple payment options so it's not like everyone out there is dependent on more Bitcoins circulating in the economy. I don't have much knowledge about finances but I don't think this course of action could have detrimental effect on the price of Bitcoin. Maybe it will mean less transaction fees for the miners though.
507  Economy / Investor-based games / Re: HYIP: Are there any benefits? on: April 14, 2016, 09:31:16 PM
If you are a HYIP operator the benefit is embezzling other people's money and if you are one of the users there is no benefit because sooner or later you will lose your hard-earned coins. These schemes gain traction by offering unrealistic interest rates on investment in their systems and when enough people have deposited money the owners take everything and run for the hills.
508  Other / Politics & Society / Re: How Bitcoin will smash Donald Trump's Mexican remittance wall on: April 14, 2016, 09:15:37 PM
Yeah Bitcoin is a great way of bypassing any wall put in place to stop the money leaving the USA but I have read on the Genesis Mining's blog that there are only 2 or 3 working Bitcoin ATM's currently in Mexico so this could be a problem for them if they can't exchange the coins back to local currency. I don't know if there is a Mexican Bitcoin exchange already in operation. Is Localbitcoins popular in Mexico?
509  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Illegal things to buy!! on: April 14, 2016, 05:31:54 PM
Well as we all know that whenever we transact it always go through blockchain first. So is it possible that blockchain can detect illegal trasanction such as buying drugs, guns, hitman etc., especially on deepweb. And where does bitcoin go when blockchain detects a illegal transaction?

There are companies that do aim at detecting and monitoring illicit transactions in bitcoin for use by law enforcement, governments and merchants. For examples

https://www.elliptic.co/
http://www.coinalytics.co/
http://sabr.io/

An they can do this because bitcoin is not anonymous, but only pseduo-anonymous.

Wow I didn't even know that Bitcoin reconnaissance is even a thing until now. Elliptic are saying on their website that they can trace Bitcoin addresses of dark web entities wow can they really do that? I thought deals on the dark web are very hard to track down if not impossible. Maybe they have developed an algorithm to datamine suspicious transactions or something because if they are doing this manually it sounds crazy.
510  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Billboard Trolls Trump's Wall! on: April 14, 2016, 04:32:03 PM
I think this billboard is real. This is from Genesis Mining's blog : http://blog.genesis-mining.com/a-bitcoin-use-case-donald-trumps-wall  Grin They have done this kind of provocative advertisement before. It's surely a great way of diverting people's attention to Bitcoin. I don't sympathize with Trump at all I think he will be a step back for the USA if he gets elected for president.
511  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Types of Bitcoin Users on: April 14, 2016, 04:13:58 PM
The amount of Bitcoin scammers has increased not decreased if you ask me because as Bitcoin grows more popular more poor people will be attracted to it looking to make a quick buck. I am in my late twenties and I am not a libertarian or a computer specialist, I am just an average joe who heard about Bitcoin and jumped on the bandwagon because it was a novel thing and I was curious. Anyhow this survey is very outdated. If it is conducted now based on this forum population I think the results will be very interesting. It is true though that most of the people posting nowadays are motivated by monetary gain due to the sig campaigns.
512  Economy / Exchanges / Re: [2016-04-14] Shapeshift Update: Security Breach Could be an Inside Job on: April 14, 2016, 03:40:03 PM
I wonder if Shapeshift can pinpoint who among their ex-employees tipped off the outside hacker. But isn't it strange that all of the exchanges that have been breached till now have claimed that it has been an inside job. Looks like this is their favorite phrase of saying 'We are not liable for what has happened to the customers' money'. Companies should have better screening while hiring new people so that they don't end up with the shady employees who can jeopardize their business.
513  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: paypal or bitcoin? on: April 14, 2016, 06:47:38 AM
Sometimes I wonder which payment method the scammers use less - Bitcoin or PayPal. I think I have been scammed at least 3 times using PayPal and I am very wary of the chargeback issues through buyers' banks accounts. On the other hand Bitcoin offers no money reimbursement so if you can't find a good escrow you are taking a big risk. At least I haven't had any bumps till now with my Bitcoin journey fortunately.
514  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Doubling Bitcoin? on: April 14, 2016, 05:59:19 AM
You can double your Bitcoins by investing in your business and yourself. Yes that's right you would get a lot more money in the long run if you better your qualifications or business infrastructure than waste cash and effort on some of the shady high-yield money schemes.
515  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Japan Considers Regulating Bitcoin as Currency on: April 14, 2016, 05:48:47 AM
For all we know Satoshi Nakamoto may be an alias. There is no guarantee he/she is Japanese. I think I have read somewhere that they did a research on the writing style and allegedly based on the type of words used it was concluded that Satoshi may be a British citizen. I don't know what to believe any more.
516  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Illegal things to buy!! on: April 14, 2016, 05:40:44 AM
The IP concern can be easily avoided by using a VPN service right? What if some honest guy who has bought Bitcoins on an exchange sent some to his friend who is a bad guy. So the good guy has exposed his ID to the authorities but the bad guy got clean coins in his wallet. How can you find out the identity of the bad guy if he continues to deal with digital cash and doesn't want to withdraw into the physical world?
517  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A teen is given $1K to invest into Bitcoin - what would you recommend for them? on: April 13, 2016, 05:50:07 PM
I wonder if investing that free $1000 in cloud mining would be profitable. I saw that Genesis Mining is offering Ether and X11 mining but I haven't cloud mined since Cex.io and I don't know if their pricing is too expensive to make a profit at all? Would it be better to just hold or an investment in cloud mining would yield more profit in the long run what do you guys think about that?
518  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Illegal things to buy!! on: April 13, 2016, 05:40:59 PM
The Blockchain doesn't check on any transactions because it's like a big ledger where all the old and future transactions are being recorded. The Blockchain is not an institution like the FBI  Grin If you are talking about the Blockchain wallet I don't think they can either detect which transaction is dirty and which is not, maybe if they have a database of Bitcoin wallets associated with criminal activities they would be able to. But if someone is sure that some wallet is dirty they could send a small sum to it and put a public memo notifying everyone that it's a wallet of criminals.
519  Economy / Speculation / Re: will the halving effect alt coin on: April 13, 2016, 02:40:54 PM
I think all the alt coins will lose some of their value if people do a massive dump exiting the alt coin markets in order to buy back into the Bitcoin market in the wake of the upcoming halving. Ethereum price has been blown out of proportion by speculators and I think it will be the alt coin to be affected the most when people pull back. Of course everything I have said is just a theory so don't quote me on that.
520  Economy / Economics / Re: Block reward halving and BC price on: April 13, 2016, 02:30:46 PM
The truth is no one really knows what will happen. Everyone is throwing out wild guesses about what the price of Bitcoin will be after the halving but the general expectation is that the price would rise. I have seen people claiming the price will crash but to me they sound like alt coin hoarders probably having  invested a lot in Ethereum and want to undermine Bitcoin. The logical outcome would be an increase in value however I am not 100% sure to put my house on the line.
