501  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is Etherdelta congested? Does it work for you? on: January 15, 2018, 03:51:45 PM
I'm constantly having exactly the same problem. On some other forums I figured out that it depends on your location. To connect etherdelta just turn on VPN or use it from TOR browser (which exactly the same). It might be a bit laggy afterwards and have a delay with showing your account balance but at least you will be able to load the page.

Really? That an interesting suggestion I will have to try. Did you also figure out which locations are worse for accessing Etherdelta?
502  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is Etherdelta congested? Does it work for you? on: January 14, 2018, 11:52:59 PM
They definitely should upgrade their servers, otherwise they will just lose their customers to competitors who are nos starting to appear. It's an irony that right now they decided to make an ICO to sell token of their site.

ED has no servers, it's a dappl running on the ethereum platform. Basically it's just a primitive GUI front end to a smart contract system.

OMG, this is really something I would have never suspected! Well, all things considered I cannot but admire the devs who have setup such a smart decentralised exchange. Even though in the practical use it sucks, one cannot deny that it is techically very brilliant.

too long roadmap, in couple months when airdrop will finish, we will touch the ground. How can you put " q3 2018 new exchanger" ? are you serious?
Seems you miss the point of a roadmap. Also new exchanges will come in Q1 too, not only Q3, if you actually bother to read the roadmap properly.

--ypsi

He seems to be pointing to an inevitable crash after the airdrops end... I wonder what would be the logic in that. To me it seems that the airdrops were priced in during november when the BTX/BTC price dropped from over 0.004 to its current level. When the airdrops end, I'd expect some dumping to happen, but by then we should be higher on the CMC ranking too.

There will be some dumping after the airdrops ends that for sure , but also there will be no more flooding of new BTX on the market, and the difficulty for mining will by then be much much higher.

What is the reasoning behind these dumps you postulated? Of course if too many people expect that to happen it will for no other reason than that, but then people will try to dump early etc. It's hard to speculate what will happen.

BTX community is made by two type of people: those who hold BTC because they like the coin and they think it has a future, and those who don't care about the coin and they just want the airdrops. Many people enter the community as part of the latter, but in time they understand the virtues of the coin and change their attitude. There may be some sort of dump as it happened with Byteball, when the airdrop stopped, but the consequences wouldn't last more than a few months - if at all.

i am actually beginning to think i should also give up etherdelta. if i want to move fast it is impossible with etherdelta. all exchanges are slow on deposits(need some confirmations) but after that you can just do your job..here is a lottery in how long you are going to need to wait until you see a successful tx.

I would love to give up Ether Delta, but it is quite the only flea market of tokens around these days, and even though it does its job quite badly, nobody else is doing it yet...
505  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN]Bitcore- BTX - SEGWIT - lowest fee - hybrid fork 1:0.5 of Bitcoin on: January 14, 2018, 11:27:12 PM
Very nice to see BitCore in it's rightful place now on coinmarketcap. Smiley

Yes, absolutely. Now people who don't know Bitcore and want to check the numbers yet can have a better estimate on the position that it has in cryptoland. This could mark the beginning of a new wise in the price Smiley
506  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Bounties (Altcoins) / Re: [BOUNTY] [ICO]🔶 Spectre.ai (SPEC) 🔶: Speculative Tokenized Trading Exchange🔶 on: January 14, 2018, 11:20:31 PM
I have just received my tokens. Nice. Such a pity people are dumping tokens on Etherdelta, crashing the price, but even like that my tokens have a considerable value. And it's so sad to see people screaming SCAM SCAM because they cannot understand the rules of the signature campaign. They were promised  a fix number of dollars for their posts and this is what they've got. They were not promised a fix number of tokens or of ETH.
Anyway the dumpers will regret their dumps as it always happens. Actually, the price already started to bounce from the dip.

All all the positive antivirus alarms something normal? 360 Total security just would let me install it... How to be sure they are all false positives?
Fix: Problem with antiviruses have been solved (false positive detection with AVG, Avast, etc.).
https://github.com/ZencashOfficial/arizen/releases/tag/v1.1.2

Meanwhile I have already installed it despite the virus alarms, after having checked the correct SHA256 checksum. It it already a modified verion? I see it is still named v1.1.2
508  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: January 14, 2018, 10:33:11 PM
I think KuCoin would a good and innovative Exchange for a Promotion on a way like this. KuCoin makes Offers and Promotions when she list new coins in the last time. Tonych can contact this Exchange with this Form.

Absolutely! KuCoin is THE FASTEST GROWING crypto exchange and I expect it to get into top 5 within several months. It would be great if they listed Byteball. They have 50 coins and they plan to add 1,000 this year! They have an absolutely disruptive growth model. Irresistible! Check this out: KuCoin

Tony, Eli, please apply!

Moreover, KuCoin is not bothering their clients with withdrawing limits and intrusive identity verification processes, I have felt very comfortable to start using it, unlike it happens with other exchanges. I would really hope to see Byteball listed there, especially as Bittrex is accepting no new members.
509  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Bancor | Protocol for Smart-tokens, solving the liquidity problem on: January 14, 2018, 10:29:20 PM
Although Ethereum Network is functioning better now, the scalibility problem is not solved permanently. I think Bancor team is just making sure that transfers go through smootly on time. It is a good solution but an expensive one as well.

Especially as the scalability problem of Ethereum is still far from being solved, I think that Bancor's team should start to think long term on how to have in future the Bancor platform possibly running also on other platforms rather than Ethereum. Bancor must become independent, and not be chained to a single platform.

I agree. Project seems destined to a very bright future. I had recognized it as very valuable when nobody was buying their ICO, quite proud of that Smiley

I see you are part of the envion signature campaign too, can i ask you how you have split your portfolio? I am currently torn between PRL and EVN, and can't decide which to position the majority of my portfolio in.

My portfolio has now dozens of different coins and tokens, I am trying to diversify as much as possible. I have also a lot of pearls which I got very cheap and I must say that I didn't sell a single PRL even when it was ober 4$ - in hindsight it would have been wiser to do it and to rebuy them now half the price. I don't know EVN, I have just checked on coinmarketcap anhd the EVN I've found has a total market capitalisation of $373 - I can't believe you are talking about this one Smiley

well i got my 10 BTX without issue, and im not so rich Wink
I do not think so. The current BTX price is about $ 25, if you have 10 BTX it equals $ 250. In my opinion it's not too little. I think BTX price will soon increase because this coin has a promising future.

If you have 10 BTC which are now worth over 130,000$, I guess you can easily afford buying 10 BTX for 250$ if you cannot get them with the airdrop any more. At the time of the first snapshot I had 7 BTC or so and I've got 7 BTX, but after a while when I've started to appreciate the coin I've told to myself "what the hell!" and I've started buying it. Now I've got more than 1000 BTX and I am much  more happy than if I'd got only the 7 airdropped ones.  Grin
512  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What if, we advertise bitcoin on T.V.? on: January 14, 2018, 10:04:14 PM
Oh, that would be stupid - advertising Bitcoin just like a product to buy. IN THEORY Bitcoin should be a currency, and you don't advertise a currency, it makes no sense. I agree that Bitcoin has become a commodity instead, but to advertise it as such would be a disaster, it would remove the last illusions that it is the currency that everybody in the Bitcoin comunity pretends it is.

It's enough if we advertise bitcoin in any social media. Bitcoin will become more popular if we advertise it on t.v.  The downside would be it will create more confusion. And also, the Government won't allow that to happen. Lastly, if incase it will be advertise,  who will pay for it? The bitcoin whales? We don't actually need it to advertise on tv just to make bitcoin more popular. We don't need to exert an effort coz bitcoin is gaining popular every now and then.

Moreover people who would learn about Bitcoin from TV, ie people who would hear about Bitcoin for the fist time, would likely not have the technical skills to install a wallet and to understand how it works, they would probably have to rely on some middle man who in the end would eventually tip him off. These latecomers would all end up struggling at the end of the foodchain, thus probably damaging the reputation of Bitcoin among mainstream public.

Wow now all of us can afford the lambo Grin
So by the way, why can i not access etherdelta. Are these guys who `fix` the price of token always wating till etherdelta is not accessible or is ed not accessible, cause of this pump?

Etherdelta is working very badly recenlty. Yesteday I could not access it all day. I guess they are congested, but it really sucks not being able to manage your assets there.
515  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] HOWL | Signature Campaign Open | Mobile Social Application | No ICO on: January 14, 2018, 03:59:41 PM
Someone has made a joke transaction on Etherdelta of HOWL for an astonomic price, so that when I have awaken this morning I have seen on my blockfolio that my portfolio is suddely 160 Million $ worth - which obviously is not true. If you own any HOWL in your blockfolio check it now to feel like millionaires Smiley

Yep, they really paid 0.613 ETH for 0.989 HOWL Cheesy

This actually ruined the graph on Blockfolio for me. There is no way to correct it afterwards and now it's way too zomed out to be useful.

Well, I guess this is someone who has paid that amout to himself, so way someone would pay that to someone else, unless one did an incredible mistake. More likeley he has done it as a joke or to attract attention on HOWL - which in my case he has managed to do. I guess he has screwed the blockfolio of a lot of people...

This has happened before with other coins. I don't get it. Do people it on purpose?

I guess so. I suppose that some people do it to manipulate markets while others has just some weird sense of humour... Either way they are annoying.

518  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: My Ledger Nano S has been hacked on: January 14, 2018, 12:01:37 PM
I have Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, Ethereum and Litecoin all installed at the same time. You should generally be able to have 4 (sometimes 5) apps installed at any one time.

The Ledger will correctly recreate the wallet whenever you reinstall an app, so there is no danger uninstalling and reinstalling apps. You won't lose any coins. If you don't have available space, you can simply uninstall an app and reinstall the app you want/need. For instance, if I needed Bitcoin Gold, I could just uninstall Ethereum, install Bitcoin Gold. If I needed Ethereum again... I could just uninstall Bitcoin Gold and reinstall Ethereum... etc etc ad naseum Tongue

I would imagine it is a bit of a nuisance if you use multiple currencies ALL the time... but I only use 3-4, so it is fine for me.

I don't mind the nuisance, I just was worried that I had to uninstall THREE apps before the ledger allowed me to reinstall ONE app (the Bitcoin app). Now I'm having only two apps installed, Bitcoin and Ethereum, and I'm asking myself what would happen if I'd like to update also the Ethereum app and after uninstalling it the Ledger would then again require me uninstall THREE apps - which now are not there again to be uninstalled any more. It is the proportion 3 to 1 which worries me. Why did I not have space to install ONE app after that I had uninstalled ONE app? And, even worse, after that I had uninstalled also a SECOND app? Why did I need to uninstall THREE apps to have again the space to install just ONE app? It doesn't make any sense to me.
519  Economy / Speculation / Re: Holding will be a risk or not?? on: January 14, 2018, 01:30:38 AM
Holding Bitcoins has proven in time to be a very good strategy. There is no guarantee that it will be always the best strategy, but history would be on your side Smiley
520  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Too late to invest in cryptos if you're old? on: January 14, 2018, 01:29:02 AM
Since it is more likely to become rich faster in cryptos than in mainstream finance, I woudl rather say that being old is actually somehow an advantage for investing in cryptos, since you can wait less time to see results Smiley
