It looks like it's trying to come back to life now.. stratum servers are giving work and the website came back, for a minute.. logged in and it died again..

I seen that too.... I hope all the queue payout information did not get loss.

Topic in IRC:

DC failure, ETA unknown. Suggest backup pools for the time being.

Thanks for posting Biffa as anyone that is on IRC can see out of the 1000+ miners that are on the pool only a fraction get on IRC chat and it took all day until someone posted something here to the miners that chose not to use IRC chat.

Actually to be fair, there are probably more people on IRC constantly than have ever posted in this thread over the past few weeks. And people join/leave the IRC channel all the time. Its not like its a hidden way to get news/support, its there (or it was) on the page in the help menu.

The pool started this thread and if they don't want to use it or anybody else to use it then they could have locked it a long time ago. There are a lot of lurkers that watch this thread and don't post anything.

which creates the fun part of the IRC channel.  someone pops in and asks..."what is going on"...get's an answer then ten minutes later another person pops in and asks the same

I agree or I wait to ask something due to a conversation on going about something which has nothing to do with the pool or mining but hate to just butt in. Then at times no one there during the time that I can be on.... just a crap way to get information unless you have amply time to waste.

So they've been down for 12+ hours.. stolen merchandise related  Huh

I doubt it but I think payments will be a little longer than the normal week or so... Tongue

In fairness I have not been on it at all in the last couple months but before that when I was on it I found it to be very inefficient. Unless s0br was on it you never could get a answer unless it was more of a  technology question. I did a lot of lucking on it and it just wasn't for me and a lot of my questions went unanswered. Also it seemed I was lucky to see maybe 20-30 at any one time on there or at least logged in. I think you have a lot more lurkers here than you do on IRC chat but that is my opinion.

EDIT: It also seems its better to just post important information or news than hope for a hit and miss approach of the IRC chat.

Why not use Eligius?

Anyone answer this? Aha

I mined on Eligius and didn't like it. I don't like the fact that the pool has been sitting on coins that were kept from a miner that tried to steal them from the pool. I quit following it but as far as I know those coins were never delivered to the miners that they should have been paid to.

The payout system is kind of screwy in my opinion. Try it and see what you think.

time to find a new pool. any suggestions?

my failover was ck.solo maybe ill leave it there for a week to see if i get lucky.

Kano runs a good pool.  I throw mine on CK.solo once in a while to see if I get lucky also.

what you think of f2pool i tried there but i think the latency was too high, i got a lot of rejects.

f2pool just had a good day and found 3 blocks. The pool is good if it's under 2 PH but once it gets to high the blocks quit coming.

Slush is another good pool just don't pull your miners or you may lose any shares if a block is not found fast after moving the miners. You can also look at some of the other major pools.

Current downtime is planned. I ran out of cash again, so am in the process of robbing the pool wallet & inventing another hacking story about a compromised wallet, works every time. As soon as I've cleaned out your BTC & finished writing up the story I'll switch the pool on again.......

Thanks for the coins  Smiley

Yes and if you have any questions.... Just send a "ticket" or come on IRC chat....  Roll Eyes

Sounds like a plan.  Good luck to you.
I sent S0br and email suggesting he take this thread down or update it or something.  I think the pool registrations are locked now anyway.  At least they were a week or so ago.

I think he took the wrong thing down?  Roll Eyes

it is the only pool ive found that consistently pays more then the btc calculator says i should get with my hash rate..

waiting a couple days for the coins to come through doesnt bother me..

My numbers are in fact correct when calculating what you will actually get paid when you compare that to the predicted payout.

Sorry, but the numbers aren't correct (in this context). If you take luck as a measurement you can only say what happened in the past. Pool luck is not a constant thing. It's going up and down all the time and there is no way in predicting the future luck.

The best you can do is use the current rate of payout. Ancient history does not matter, but current luck, or lack thereof, is the only thing you can use. You are quite free to not look at current rates when choosing what pool to use, by all means, please go right ahead and use the one that is currently paying the least, be it due to luck or skimming or whatever.

im going to step in here because the last two pages of this thread are just getting silly.

1) not sure why you keep attacking kano directly. its unneccessary, and makes you look like an ass (same goes for kano responding in a similar manor)
2) LUCK: "success or failure apparently brought by chance rather than through one's own actions"  //OR//   "chance to find or acquire"
-luck (or 'varience') is unpredictable, and always changing. A pool can have 85% payouts one week and 110% payouts the next. The priciple is that over a sufficienctly long period of time (months or years) the overall payout should be 100% (+/- a few %)
3) as such, the luck you see TODAY is not what you will see TOMORROW. It changes. basic probability and statistics says so.

4) why would you put less than the going BTC/TH/day into nicehash calculations? The best method for nicehash is to set it ~3% higher than the "typical/predicted" payout of other pools, so that your miner switches only when it is sufficiently profitable.

I have mine set a bit higher because I have had problems a couple of times with miners failing back over to my other pools and for the risk of that happening again I want to only rent if it's worth my while. And in case we get another run like the PayCoin I don't want to miss it.
