521  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] profit switching auto-exchanging pool - middlecoin.com on: January 20, 2014, 12:57:16 PM
...and after a solid 12 hours or so of awesome silence the posts are back haha

My hashrate has been stable (it varies more by the hour than 512 diff, however, averaged across the day, is very accurate), my rejects low, and payout better than what Coinwarz calculates again, so I'm going to let H2O continue to do what he does best. Reading page after page of this (mostly) crap isn't worth his time... not surprised he removed this thread from the MiddleCoin site.

1024 Difficulty doesn't pose any problems unless your config is wrong, or you are a slow miner and getting really unlucky with your shares. What it has done is reduce server load and bring about better stability. I've been getting around 0.013 BTC per MH/s the past two days after making sure my config is correct, which I'll gladly take.

If you are having trouble with the pool then try another and see if the problem is with your equipment or the pool. If your settings work fine on another pool, however, not here, you are still probably still doing something wrong (with regard to 1024 diff), or using the wrong server. Depending on your latency, you will have to find out which works best for you. If you have multiple rigs, set them to different servers for a few days and compare payouts per MH/s (or KH/s)

Also, though it should be obvious, most of us are here for the money... if that means crushing a (probably junk anyway) coin or two then I think most of us are fine with that. There are already WAY too many terrible coins out there, and having so many threatens the legitimacy of the few that have proven (through popular acceptance/great dev teams/solid marketing) that they deserve to be here. If we can kill off junk coins and make money on it, I think that's a bonus. Many serious miners have invested 10k or more in mining equipment - they want an ROI above all else

Excellent points, all.

What part of that last paragraph is "excellent"? With that mindset I should be supporting companies that mine and sell conflict diamonds just because they invested in it and want to see an ROI? This is not the crusades, or the wild west and your investment does not give you a license to kill. The longer we can remain on the right side of ethics and help stabilize this market, the quicker the cryptocurrency usage will pickup.
Get a grip.  There aren't going to be 5000 different alt-coins when the whole crypto-currency market settles out.  The weak must die so that the strong survive and become part of the world economic system.

Most of these coins are JUNK!!!!  The offer NOTHING of any value beyond their own existence.

Can you send a message with it?
Can you encrypt with it?
Is your anonymity enhanced with it?
Does it offer anything of value beyond what BTC and LTC offer?

No . . . then it's a crap-coin and deserves to die.

http://middlecoin2.s3-website-us-west-2.amazonaws.com/reports/12nDW2yYFeiLMyZB2kqNY82wEU4D5cMRxf.html

been mining for 3 rigs the last week and it's been stable as hell for me. really not seeing the fluctuations people are speaking about, minus the stat-fk up day.
Today looks like a great day so far.
Not real certain about that.  Payoff looks great, but the immatures are falling.  Don't know if that's a manifestation of mining coins with faster confirmation rates, or just lower mining profitability.

i was able to make it work at first but it only gave me a tiny 13kH\s .. then i managed to correct the setting and now im good , 1.1 gh running Smiley

if I can ask how the heck did you do this

im only getting 4.5kh/s

ive got a NVidia card 670m gtx 3gb card on one lappy the other has 2 gpu but only the intel shows up, cause their is also a NVidia 4gb 750m card on there as well

would love to know how to get that to work

ps using cgminer 3.9

Get cgminer 3.7.2, that is the last Version which supports scrypt GPU mIning.

...wait. 1.1 gh? What are you guys talking about?
It was a typo in the original post that was corrected two posts down to 1.1mh.  And the post was on page 55 . . .  quite some time ago.

Against my better judgement, I'm simply going to say, it gets really tiresome having to worry about what somebody else thinks is offensive.

-- Using "you" in the generic sense -- The world is not your pearl, you have no right not to be offended, and if you are, then it says a heck of a lot more about you than it does the person from whose action or words you take offense.
i merely pointed out that to use words like that was to portray himself as uneducated.

who said they're offended?  You're the first person to claim offense. You're fighting a strawman.
Sorry, did I address you?  Nevermind, both Your and bitter-miner's comments were intellectually dishonest.  The implied sense of offense is in the original comment taking exception to the word "chinamen."  So the absence of the precise word is irrelevant.
And using the dictionary definition of "liberal" reveals nothing of the modern connotation of the word with which everyone in the Western world, at least, is familiar.

Sophistry won't fly here.

NOW, How about those profit numbers today, kiddies?

i totally agree, meanings of words are completely irrelevant.. no point in reading a dictionary.. they're also "intellectually dishonest" and don't cover the meaning of liberalism..
A person who only knows the dictionary definitions of words is an illiterate in the real world.  ARe you "gay," happy, or "gay," homosexual?  The second is quite recent in dictionaries, but most of us knew the second definition as everyday speech long before.

stupid words.. i had no idea.. no idea..
Not a response, sport, a cop-out.  See it all the time, people who can't respond reasonably, so they attempt to be dismissive.  Won't wash.

you seem to be far more offended by 'political correctness'  than anything said here.

in fact, that was the first time that offense was raised.

and my profitability is great today, thanks for asking.
Yeah, probably am.

anyway, someone attributed the profits to DOGE, but I don't see how he could know.

Nice amount of activity in the forums today  Grin
If only artos had this much activity
SBC down to $0.046.

The silence over progress with mixing service and future plans for the coin is driving the early investors away.  I's almost as though artos is sand-bagging everyone.  Is he buying up all those cheap coins and then when he gets a ton, suddenly announce the mixing service?

I am not the only one, but I have been one of the most constant voices advocating COMMUNICATIONS.  A product is dead without good PR, advertising and communication.  This has begun to look like a running practical joke.  Artos drops by and dribbles a weekly mention of something and all of his fans cheer and gush.  Then he disappears again leaving people still waiting and still in the dark.

It's one of the most astonishing performances I have ever seen.

Well, I'll hold my (virtually worthless month's mining activity in) SBC's just in case something ever does manifest itself

Really bizarre.

This pretty much echoes my feelings 100%

Wow. No patience whatsoever. Spoiler alert!!! In the real world, things take time and real work!

I've been a promoter since day 1 dude.  ArtOS has the right to dissapear without announcing things once, but two times is a bit odd and does shake my confidence slightly.  Don't pretend it's a positive thing:  It's not.

As a programmer myself I know for a fact one can get lost in the code while working hard.  That's not an excuse to stop all PR entirely, however, for anything over 3 days.  We're way beyond that.  It's been what, a week?  Two?  It's getting scarily similar to what happened before, and that killed this coin.

It's at the point now where I have seriously considered trying to hard fork his work, and implement this feature myself.  I AM capable, and at least I'd talk to the community.  That said, it feels somewhat...  asshole-ish to fork someones coin by force.

Yeah that would kill the coin for sure, now we see your motives.
A battle over ownership might kill the coin, but where's it headed now?  What he's talking about is a rescue attempt.  This coin has great potential, but if it's most salient feature, anonymity is offered by another coin with equal security before SBC publicly announces an up and working mixing service, then it's value is diminished and it might even die.

I don't believe we're there yet, but time is ticking.

Public perception, public perception, public perception.  I can't say that enough.  This coin made a false start once before, so it's rebirth was pretty shaky to begin with.

The chinamen was speaking of 4mh he had. Yes, that would lead to a decrease in earnings. Now, if 3 or 4 others decide to have the same idea they will learn what this chinamen learned - the margins are only profitable under specific circumstances and that is met when hashing power < opportunity. Once you have more hashing power than the opportunity for it, you are left with coins you must dump below market value - that makes it less profitable for everyone. Why do you think the guy left? He realized that in such a small market like alt coin arbitrage, he is his own worse enemy with that much hash power.
you do realize 'chinamen' makes you sound as uneducated as if you still called people 'negroes'.

The term has no negative connotations in older dictionaries. This is just some myth substantiated by neo-liberals and such looking to eliminate distinctions between peoples.
I think i know where you're coming from.

welcome to 2014.

Heck... welcome to the 1990s.  I seriously have not heard anyone use that term in twenty years.  I encourage you to find an english speaking friend of chinese decent,  and have him explain why that term is awful.   While you are at it,  you can ask him about the term oriental,  which is almost as awful and comes from the sameish timeframe and is also associated with imperialism.

Anyway... back on topic,  has anyone tried switchercoin? How does the profit between the two pools differ?  Any thoughts on why middlecoin might be better,  aside from it giving payouts in bitcoin?

Sure does sound like him, doesn't it.  Right off the bat with the insults and accusations.  Wow!  Come back after a couple of days and it's still the same, a bunch of whiny children complaining that the world isn't obeying their every wish, and poor atriz and nearmiss having to deal with them the same time as trying to get their work done.

Don't worry atriz, if it's any comfort, you see the same sorts of posts on middlecoin . . . bitching, whining, and accusations.  Apparently immaturity is one of the most prevalent character traits of alt-coin miners . . . or is that minors?

534  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SBC] From Death Comes Life – The Rebirth of StableCoin - URGENT UPDATE on: January 17, 2014, 10:06:11 PM
Haven't given up on SBC, just unsettled by the lack of overt progress or at least updates.

I am one of those holding and occasionally buying.  I just bought a little over 400 more.  The initial decision to mine SBC over the more immediate returns from Ltc or multi-pool was a gamble and I still believe the gamble a good bet . . . which is why I still hold and up my stake.

AT these prices, the potential for profit, I believe, remains extremely high and, who knows, SBC with it's anonymity potential could wind up being the coin of choice.

The downside is holding about $150.00 of coins that my expended computer time becomes worthless, but the upside is what . . . maybe $10/coin?  $100/coin?  That's quite an upside with very little downside, as far as I can see.

Hey guys, here is the new tool I've developped to check the stats of all of my mining addresses on middlecoin. Just enter your addresses (one line by address) and let's go.

http://stratehm.net

On the right panel are the middlecoin stats and below the total stats of the selected addresses.

Enjoy !  Wink

PS: My database contains only data for 4 hours at the moment, but it will grow on a 7 days window.
SWEET!!!

Thanks!!

Umm . . . the coin was believed to be DEAD "2 months ago."

They could revive Dragon coin and it's value would temporarily rise 5000%.

The point remains that the longer the coin is not promoted, advanced, and supported, the less faith people will have in the coin and the developer . . . and that is a death sentence.  Is has also been mentioned (and would also be a death sentence) that there are several new coins in the offing offering the same level or similar degree of anonymity.  The first coin to appear with that capability ACTIVE will be the coin to benefit.

I have 3.6 Mh on 2 miners, my screens are filled with:

Stratum found new block
Difficulty set to xxx
Stratum found new block
Difficulty set to xxx

Makes for some pretty low W/U
Greater difficulty means fewer, but LARGER blocks.
