Anonymous (Atlas?) was a visionary back in 2011 and this topic is one of my all time favorite topics on bitcointalk. and we are now seeing that bitcoin has been true to those who believed in it and bought and held bitcoin.
also it was very interesting to me when I was reading the first couple of pages just now that people seemed to be more positive back then, or it think it is better that I say there were less idiots with agendas against bitcoin to spread FUD back then.
Ha ha! Visionary! He was a nut case.

$20,000.00/BTC for a very modest living for me.

But......but.....kwuk said it's going down to $300. I'm confused.
LOL I think he's the one who's confused. Meanwhile I see 2 new threads started by random-6-character-alphanumeric-noob FUDspam bots posting identical messages. Lauda must be taking an extended lunch break. He's been overworked lately. Someone buy the man a stimulating beverage. _____ edit: Gone already, thanx Lauda. It's become a strong rally indicator.

Some drama overnight, eh? Looks like it recovered rather well, considering, only really dropped $30 or so.

Yep, that's the one. I didn't want to link to it directly.
I can swallow the loss, I'm not so stupid to put too much anywhere!

Didn't do proper due-diligence, made assumptions, and lost an annoying amount of BTC.
Installed what I thought was the legitimate android app for localbitcoins, lbcbit, turns out it just empties the wallet. :/
It should be removed from the play store soon, but in the mean time, yeah, don't make the mistake I did!

Looks like we're going parabolic

Tell a lie... actually the block chain is on the hdd!

Have an SSD, and i7 processor 16GB ram. Still takes a up to a week.
The issue with windows updates it that it indiscriminately resets the machine when it feels like it, before the client has time to shut down properly. corrupts the block chain which then needs re-indexing.

The very latest v0.10.0.
I wouldn't mind if I just needed to re-index a few weeks or something, but every time it's the full 6+ years!

The 3rd in a couple of months and it's getting to be a right pain in the ass as it takes a week to re-scan everything!
How do I configure the core to survive this sort of thing?

Also got this, but I don't think I registered on coinbase. The email doesn't mention my name though, just repeats my email address.

Just thought I'd mention... Used Giftoff.com yesterday for quite a sizeable Amazon voucher and it all seems to have gone through fine and quickly.
Website is a little buggy though. When I registered it took me back to the registration page and not a confirmation page, and the confirmation email took some time to arrive.

Yeah, I'm not terribly involved with those around me.
